I thought it was very nice of Miller to deliberately roll all of those dice so low... Another very entertaining battle report, thanks again to you both
Great game. We might need to take a collection and purchase Miller some new dice. Thanks for all the editing work and putting this out there. Appreciate it.
Well...wot a Slugfest that was! Brilliant!!! Commiserations to Miller who fought hard, but alas, the Dice Gods were not looking down on you today. Martin, on the other hand, must have consumed an entire economy size jar of Robertson's Raspberry Jam before the battle. Great game, Gents. Thank you both👍 God Save the King!
To be fair they had the same abilities on all our games, the dice were just on my side this time. Parliaments strengths lay with units that were either taken out early or that Miller didn't take (no Cavalry at all), don't think that'll be happening again haha
Haha cheers dude, I think the dice gods were smiling on me for sure, thing is now I'm going to have a massive unit of Ironsides to deal with next time 😅
Brilliant game, very much enjoyed the battle report! Even though the game was somewhat one-sided, there were a fair few surprises and twists. Felt sorry for Miller, he really had some bad luck. But the heroes of the game really are his dragoons for holding the hamlet for as long as they did. Keep up the good work :-)
Great game gentlemen and the title did not lie. Hopefully the Parliamentarians can go and get themselves some new powder and cuirasses (dice) and we’ll see a potential comeback next time. Edit: Also love how the “secure the deserters” mission completely went out the window and it turned into a straight up fight for survival.
Enjoyed this immensely. Great to see Miller on the channel and pleased with the outcome (though I do feel the dice gods certainly had a favourite this game)!😂 Hope to see more P&S soon.
Wow; just wow. Your board is beautiful, The terrain, buildings, The trips and how everything just works together. A table-scape worthy of a satisfying grognard meal indeed. Great video too and thank you so much for the entrainment and all of the time taken. It looked like a lot of fun.
Love the channel. This got me into building historical wargaming. Especially the WoTR series. Though I’ve seen no Hundred Years War battle reports….. guess it’s up to me hahaha
I've been enjoying these battle reports. "Pike & Shotte" interests me a lot and it's great to see it can be played at a scale that's not massive. What are the recommended army sizes for a proper game?
Hi there, really pleased to hear you enjoy the reports, they are great fun to make 👍 I suppose realistically you would want potentially 5 Battalia a side, that way you could have two wings of Cavalry as well as a chunky centre. So maybe half as big again as in this game. The new epic set lets you do this on a standard table as the minis are 13mm instead of 28mm Hope this helps 👍
Great game - felt sorry for MIller but that's how they roll sometimes. I must say that I don't see how being Stubborn stops you from getting shot or killed? I could understand if it was a bonus on the break test.
Thanks very much, you're right that's just how it goes sometimes. The saves are morale saves not armour or wounds, it makes a little more sense when you think of it in that way. The casualties represent men running, wounded and killed and the general willingness to fight, well, that's how it's explained in the book anyway 😁
Yeah it probably should have, the thing is we play ALOT of Hail Caesar compared to P&S so sometimes bits of that creep in, in HC the bases need to touch to offer support 👍
Hi there, as far as I am aware there are no plans for epic to replace the 28mm game. The rules are exactly the same. You can just play it at either scale 👍
Just stumbled across your video and enjoyed it immensely. If you don't mind me asking, where do you get your pike bases from? Love the way they protect the pikemen at the charge of pike.
At 41:36, another double-ones was rolled for the musketeers on the left. Doesn't that "newly discovered" (or remembered) rule come into play with SHOOTING or do double-ones affect COMBAT only?
The pond next to the hamlet is looking lovely. We play P&S battles not so often and are using different rules. But maybe I can convince my wife to change this. We play historical battles only since we report about it on our blog. Your games are runing for 3 hours?
Great battle report :) Thanks :) I have a question.on the sixth turn , Hopton's pikemen attacked the artillery. The artillery had to make a brake test. Why did the artillery hold the ground? I wish Miller better dice rolls ;) Thanks again to you both.
I think he came unstick because he spilt his attacks across my units and Stubborn only lets you reroll the first failed morale save each turn, if he had followed up with subsequent attacks in the same turn I wouldn't have got them. Last game it did absolutely nothing for me and my whole army was decimated 👍😅
You played nicely. But the popular idea in all modern wargames of random activation of bigades broke the whole game. This stupid idea has nothing to do with real problems of command during a battle. Yes, the troops were not easy to change orders in the midst of a battle, true. But NOT fresh troops which were in range of their commanders like Miller's central brigade. This rule spoils the game. IMO
Like you say we still had fun, thanks for taking the time to comment. While I agree mostly I just always tell myself I'm playing a game not a simulation. And again while I agree regarding the idea generally there was more than one instance with the Earl of Essex in the ECW where his orders were either ignored or not carried out, not unlike what occurred in the middle to be honest haha 👍
@@7thson726 I agree, if you had fun that was worth it. And yes, there were a few instances of troops' odd behaviour on a battle field during ECW. But a chance to get it in a game is much higher than in real life with this rule of activation. I am sorry for my straitforwardness. By the way, have you ever tried Tercios or Father Tilly? I hear good feedback from players. P.S. I enjoy your battle reports on all periods, guys. Please, continue.
I've had bad dice before but Jesus, Miller forgot to bring ammo to the battle. he's shooting jelly beans at the enemy. I feel for you man.
I started to feel bad about the end of turn 2, I don't think I've ever seen such bad rolling 😅
I thought it was very nice of Miller to deliberately roll all of those dice so low... Another very entertaining battle report, thanks again to you both
Cheers buddy, it was very nice of him wasn't it 😅
These Pike and Shotte videos are my favorite
Glad you enjoy them, they are great fun to play 👍
What a fun game. Really like the way the pike and shotte games play out.
Glad you enjoyed it 👍
Was a great game to play. And great to watch back 😁👍
Glad you enjoyed it dude, rematch next month? 😁
Miller's pike charge was just heartbreaking.
I think you can actually pause it at the moment his heart breaks 😁👍
Great game. We might need to take a collection and purchase Miller some new dice. Thanks for all the editing work and putting this out there. Appreciate it.
Any time! Glad you enjoyed it 👍😅
love it when battle reports premiere on my day off! cant wait to see the bigger table!
Hope you enjoy it 😁👍

Good to see a big battle, the larger table looked to work well.
I'm pleased with how it worked, will be doing a few more on this size in the future 👍
Quite enjoyed that. Beautiful figures and terrain.
Tha is very much 👍
Double dipping for the first part
Haha sometimes it's worth second shake 😅 hope you enjoyed it bud 😁🤘
@@7thson726 poor Miller was crippled by stubborn armor save rolls
Fantastic game. I can't believe Miller didn't flip the table due to the bad luck with the dice. 😂
Haha trust me, there was one point I thought it was going to happen 😅
The Royalist Army seemed very powerful with all the extra traits.
To be fair they had the same abilities on all our games, the dice were just on my side this time. Parliaments strengths lay with units that were either taken out early or that Miller didn't take (no Cavalry at all), don't think that'll be happening again haha
Really entertaining game, poor Miller, poor Miller.
Haha glad you enjoyed it dude, he was unlucky, I tried to help but once he was on that downward spiral with the rolling.... 😅😁
Excellent game chaps. The board and the armies looked fantastic. Can't believe the dice I'm calling shenanigans!🤣

Another cracking game of Pike & Shotte! Loved it, especially for the Royalist victory, hussar! A lovely looking board and armies 👍.
Cheers buddy, the forces of the King had to get a victory at some point 😁
Great Battle! Your videos are what really got me into the hobby, so Thanks!
Thank you, really appreciate that, that's great to hear, any period in particular?
Very enjoyable. Thanks for making dice rolling an entertainment! 😊
Really looking forward to my own 15mm P and S game tomorrow.
Really pleased you enjoyed it 👍😁
Extremely good and nicely thematic. Thank you for sharing :-)
Really pleased you enjoyed it, we had a great time playing this, well, I certainly did 👍
Looks like you have a lot of fun

Really pleased you enjoyed the game, Parliament will definitely be back I'm sure, with alot of Cavalry I assume 😅
Where would one get the movement trays, or do people normally make their own for the pikes?
I believe Miller got them from Warbases as a custom order, if you email them direct they should be able to help 👍
Thank you@@7thson726 for the really quick reply. I will give them an email and thanks for the help!
Excellent battle report as usual. Very enjoyable to watch
Thanks very much 👍
Finally got a chance to watch this, good report and good game, glad to see you put the puritan godbotherers in their place,God save the King!☺

Enjoyed this immensely. Great to see Miller on the channel and pleased with the outcome (though I do feel the dice gods certainly had a favourite this game)!😂 Hope to see more P&S soon.
I don't know what he did to annoy them but I think they definitely showed their displeasure 😅

Great battle report! Very nice table and armies. I loved it. Do more P&S! 😀
Thanks! Will do! 😁👍
Epic! Oh, err sorry that’s a different scale of Pike & Shot.

We'll start a GoFundMe 😁
What a game, dice luck was a bit one sided!
That'll be it now, no more 6's until 2024 haha
at 38:54 isnt miller supported by a pike to the rear and a musketman to the left? (his right) that looks like under 3 inches.
Yeah it probably should have, the thing is we play ALOT of Hail Caesar compared to P&S so sometimes bits of that creep in, in HC the bases need to touch to offer support 👍
I'm new to P&S. There is an epic game and the 28mm game. Since there is not a 2e of P&S, it's Epic Battles going to replace?

In break test table for hth: "7 or more - Artillery The unit breaksand is deemed destroyed remove the entire unit from the field." :)

He's still about but he hasn't been this way for a game for a while, busy wedding planning I think 😁
