Absolutely lovely looking game. It's not a period that I've ever considered in miniature, although I've played lots of hex wargames in the TYW. I will definitely be looking at you other reports. Very enjoyable while painting away on North Africa tanks.
Lovely looking table. I have a large 28mm ecw collection but still tempted by this scale for kitchen table type games. Love the spectacle of 28mm but it is basically a display/multiplayer game at 28s
While I love my 28mm collections of various time periods, ( Ancients, Medieval up to WW2 ) I 've been intrigued by the new 13.5/15mm scales for Pike & Shot. Although , according to the nrulebook's scenarions, you still need at least 6x4, but preferably 8x6 ft. table. So not exactly "Kitchen-Table" size. I have also Epic Horus Heresy ( warhammer 30k ) called "Legions Imperialis, which is now in 8mm scale. After having painted quite a few 8mm miniatures, I needed a rest for my exes and the WLG 13,5mm look like giants in comparison... Since my gaming table is 6x4 ( standard for many TT games ) I might take 1 or 2 Battalias less then suggested in the P&S Rulebook-Scenarios.
ranges are fine, firearms had/have range. Usually at a much greater effective range than most games portray. The odds of hitting- is where the issue, if any, should be. But at only a 16% chance at those greater distances (typically) - then a save on top of that, that further reduces the percentage chance of a hit. Range seems just fine.
For the ranges, i think in terms of frontage. For both epic battles and my normal 28mm figures, a standard unit is typically 180mm. So i dont mind ths range. And it makes sense that a cannon could fire over a few fields.
Great game Dom! Very pleased to this batrep in a overlooked period. Hope there will be more Boot Room Epic Pike & Shotte. With you On the ranges, cm would be better but what about movement? Many Thanks 😊👍
@BootsontheTable mine were rolling great the first half of my game on Monday. But then the odds struck back, and I nearly thought about changing them to the green or red dice :)

30 years war is one of those period which always seems to give me a good game
So happy to see epic done, I've really enjoyed playing epic scale as I'm new to historical wargaming and warlords box sets been great entry
it certainly is and I think gives a very nice game. I am a fan of the 28mm version but this works very nicely and the barrier to entry is lower!

28mm is always my first love but these smaller scales are effective and easier for most games

Good looking set up, and not a bad game for a first go,
cheers Martin

you make a good point. Maybe i'm just pro-conditioned that it feels wrong but as i said it plays just fine
Great table, and an entertaining game to watch.
it was fun!

yeah the ranges are odd, they seem fine for artillery but terrible for muskets. Buit then if we went cm it would make movement terrible....
Looking great love the PCP dice
they are fetching!
The new pink PCP dice look great on the table :)
I think so too!
