Oh definitely, he did a great job still holding it together, it really was that last turn that made the difference for the Royalists as up until that point it was fairly even 👍
Great game, like the the end where your cannons blasted him. Been watching this game back and forth, but today I got to watch the entier game to the end. Looking forward to more off your good games. Take care & cheers 👍
Entertaining game but I've never been able to buy into a system where you paint up a unit of ten men that only ever get 2 or 3 shots or attacks! Thank you Two Fat Lardies for Sharp Practice!😂
Glad you enjoyed it. But of an odd point haha Sharp Practice is much smaller in scale and for this the number of men on the base is irrelevant. these games units are based on Frontage with no min figure requirements and no figure removal so the stats for shooting are static 👍 I do need to get in some more games of Sharp Practice though 😁
I think i will do both sides same as i'm going to do the war of the roses . i don't know if there is any wargaming clubs where i live in wales i'll have to look in to it . thanks Martin keep the battle reports coming
I have to work a double shift today and happily found this in my queue. Thanks to you and young Miller for putting this together and making my day go a little better.
Excellent game gentlemen, can’t wait for the next. Also I believe we’ve learned a simple lesson this game, when facing troops dug into concentrated defences, don’t try and assault them with musket armed troops but just lay into them at close range with superior firepower.
They were the lynchpin of the Royalist force, I think if they had lost the Chapel then that would have given Parliament a solid hold to launch the attack from, their presence prevented parliament from joining up its centre and it's flank 👍
Great battle report, thanks for doing it,looked like a lot of fun, wasnt sure how it was going to go for the royalists especially when the kings lifeguard bravely ran away!
New model army got all those lovely new uniforms but decided to skrimp on the runners it seems. Middle battalia just retreated off the board turn 1 🤣 Amazing game guys, this is my favourite channel for battle reports!
I get so excited when you post a new battle report! It's exactly what I need to make my long commute less tedious. Thank you for a great game and narrative!
Always love your reports Martin, regardless of the period. The 8 foot table worked pretty well but I wonder if deeper rather than longer wouldn't allow for more maneuver. Depending on the scenario, going end to end, rather than side to side, on a 5'X8' (?) or keeping in mind the really exciting game you had working diagonally from opposite corners in a WotRs battle report . might be a possibility. Tell Miller I'm really liking the look of his big Cavalry units, they looking vewy scaiwee in their dark colors. But wasn't the "New Army" that started the British red coat theme, cause it was a cheap color to produce ? Hugs for all your good work.
Thank you 👍 I think that would be a good shout for the next game though I may struggle to make a 5 ft wide board, but I'll have a go 😁 thanks for taking the time to comment
Very enjoyable as ever. Started watching a couple of Netflix progs, but couldn't settle, so particularly enjoyable. These Civil War reports are my favourite (I use these rules). Looking forward to the next larger multiplayer battle. It would be good to see Waller, Wilmcote, Byron added to the big names on show. Once more thanks again for an entertaining evening....those cannon at the end...😮😅
Fantastic game guys. You are slowly bringing me around to actually liking pike and shotte. It would be good to see you guys do a campaign for the ECW. As a new model army vet I'd just like to say to Miller that Black Tom would be turning in his grave!😢
Haha glad you liked it mate, I have a few things about it that I would change but I love the simplicity and the big game in a few hours is always good. I want to try "The Kingdom is Ours" soon, have you tried that one?
@7thson726 I've got them but we've not got around to using them yet. We've not played the ecw in a long time. I've played Civil War by Athena Games which is a definite no. 1644 which was OK. Warhammer ecw which was not as good as ancient battles but people loved it. Also played 2 others which I can't remember now.
Do you mean for a break test? In Pike and Shotte unlike in Hail Caesar the difference between casualties caused in the melee isn't used for the break test, only excess (in excess of Stamina) casualties are a minus. So if he has a stamina of 4 and I cause 5 casualties, and I win the combat he's testing 2D6 -1, unless he's shaken in which case it's another -1. Next round all those casualties would be in excess so the modifier would be higher. Hope that's helpful 👍 if I've missed what you're getting at let me know and I'll do my best to answer
Great job Gents! Miller does a fantastic job not coming totally unglued... his frustration on a few of those dice rolls was palpable 😂

Haha that's brilliant, welcome. Any plans on what side you're going for 😁

I think that was a hard learned lesson 😁 glad you enjoyed it 👍
Fantastic to see more ECW Pike And Shotte content.
Thanks, if you all still enjoy it, I'll keep doing them ,😁👍
Fantastic game. I learnt more watching your videos than from the books 👍👍👍🤠🤠
Thank you, glad you like the videos 👍😁
With the performance of the Storming party there, I might have to paint mine up. Great vid!

Thanks Martin - a thoroughly enjoyable battle report, and if I may so, very professional!
Really appreciate that thanks 😁 will be more in the future

Thanks so much, glad you enjoyed it 👍
Excellent. I was really looking forward to this game and you didn't disappoint.
Thanks so much, glad you enjoyed it, thanks for watching 👍😁
Finally watched the game, dice rolling was hit and miss on both sides
Haha I see what you did there 😁👍

Thank so much, really pleased you enjoyed it. We'll certainly look at bringing in some more personalities 👍😁
Thanks fellas. 🙂
You're welcome, thanks for watching,😁👍
Great looking game. Impressive armies, those must have take a long time to get done
Thanks for taking the time to comment, it does take a while but getting them all onto the table makes it all worth it 👍
Great entertainment lads. Thanks for the video.
Cheers buddy glad you enjoyed it 👍
Wonderful game really enjoyed it. Thanks guys😊

Thank you 😁👍 really glad you enjoyed it
Awesome video and the table and models looked fantastic.
Thank you! Cheers 😁
Martin rolled first and won!!!
That's the new plan, winning 😅
Not a 100% on pike and shotte
But in that melee he was like -5 in one or those rolls...or something why did you say only -1 😮
