The Spear Cuts Through Water is an intricately woven tapestry of a story.. seriously nothing like it. If you haven't yet read it, it may be slightly confusing at first but just pay attention to cues given in the text and trust the author... keep going, it will soon all click into place and you will be swept away! 😊

The spear cuts through water is going to be one of my top books of the year, it was just brilliant! Definitely recommend audiobook + following along in the book, the narrator is amazing and it enhanced the reading experience for me!

I tried to read Can't Spell Treason last month too but I ended up DNFing it. And similarly to your confusion, I really enjoyed a lot of aspects about it but ultimately, it was too flat and I found myself opting to listen to the radio vs. the book. I liked the idea of it a lot, but it didn't hit.

I am so pleased that you felt the same way that I did about The Magical Age of Overthinking! I listened to it on audiobook too and stopped at the end of each chapter trying to figure out if I had completely missed the point or zoned out 😅 I didn't learn anything from it, such a shame after loving Cultish! i’ve been keen to read the spear cuts through water especially since the author is filipino-american (i’m filipino)! it sounds very intimidating but so interesting at the same time 😅
that’s too bad about the new montell book! i too loved cultish and enjoyed the narrative and framing she did with that book. will likely read this from the library then 😂
