Aquarium Co-Op Hi ther I need help plz I have just started doing a tropical Fishtank I’ve got loads of fish in there in a minute but my water keeps going cloudy
What size tank is that one there in now I have a 10 gall I want to breed and see how I do I want to have fun do you sell a tank and a kit I could buy off of you ?
Cory thank you for your videos! I have a guppy tank but they stay mostly at the top? what is a good centerpiece fish that will go well with guppy tank? 29 gallon planted. Thank you!!
I am so happy to hear you love guppies! We’ve had every type of fish... Red Devils, flowerhorns, peacocks, saltwater you name it! But my love for guppies and threadfin rainbows are number one! It’s great to hear other enthusiasts love guppies!
I just got a small school of guppies a couple weeks after watching this video and several of your other videos. Thankfully my well water is very hard and this makes being a first-time guppy owner much more relaxing for me. Thanks for all the pointers in this video (and the cycle one)! My fish are active and playful as heck, it's really fun to see how colorful they are and their personalities. Definitely might try to get a larger tank someday and put in a wider variety of fish like corydoras. I didn't think keeping an aquarium would be this enjoyable and I'm very happy I tried it out!
I kept 12-14 in a very well planted 10 gallon tank. this is SUPPOSED to be over stocked, but keeping up on your water changes prevents poor water quality, even stocked a little high
technically yes but it depends on how you care for the tank weather or not they get sick. mine THRIVED and I sold hundreds of babies to my lfs every couple of months
Aquarium Co-Op I have a 5 gallon tank and I was wondering how many guppies could be housed in their and could I have just females or is it only males can be housed with males if you replied that would be very helpful thx
In this video he says that a 5 Gallon tank can house a trio of Guppies. It doesn't matter if it's 3 males, 3 females or 1 male and 2 females, but if you get males and females, always have more females than males so the excitement of the male towards the female will be spread out between the 2 females rather than 1 female always being harassed, hope this helps!
I'm glad I watched this. I live in WV, so our water is naturally hard. I keep an eye on my water quality with test strips. I actually do my water change every week and then check. Hardness is always high. I bought tablets to keep the pH right around 7.5. It's a 29 gallon tank, planted heavily with artificial and real plants, rock hiding places that I made with aquarium-safe silicone, and it stays around 77.6 degrees. I started with 8 or 9 fish. I now have about 50.
Thanks for this information! I'm just about to start my first tank with guppies. I've been a fancy goldfish keeper for years and now I'm starting with guppies
Thanks so much for your videos and knowledge on Guppies! My daughter and I got started yesterday with our very 1st trio of assorted guppies. The male is getting busy already. Lol
Thank you for all your excellent videos. Whenever I have an issue or a question I come to you. Your videos are ckear, precise instructions and information and yiu never leave anything out. We've had fish for about a year now, and we've gone from a 15 gallon to a 40 breeder. I have 10 Glofish, 2 Black mollies and tonight I introduced 4 Male fancy Guppies. Their beautiful! I'm learning so much. I had my first experience watching spawning going on with my Glofish and at first I thought the one fish had gone crazy and I was ready to do it in! Lol Chasing relentlessly and I was so worried about the other fish he (now I know) was after. Turns out they were spawning so at least I know what was going on now. Thanks again for your wonderful videos.
I've avoided Guppies all my life. I've been an Angel and Mbuna guy until October when the girl at the fish store said "We have pregnant females on sale". At $1.99 I got 3 and put them in my planted fry tank. On Nov 23rd I was the proud owner of 47 Guppies. I now have 3 tanks dedicated to FANCY Guppies!!!! They are awesome! I now have several Cobra and Dragon Guppies. Geez..... WHO KNEW?
i did not see my guppy in tanks i only see them daily in big tub like from 230 gallon to 300 i started caring, breeding guppies when i was just 7 years old and now i GOT 5 - 13 tubs i got albino, platinum, pure green, pure blue, and neon blue BTW NICE VIDS MAN LIKED IT AND SUBBED ; )
I really enjoyed this video. I am trying to breed guppies right now. So far I have about 35. 6 of my females are pregnant. Im excited for more to come!! Thank you.
Best fish in the hobby! Beautiful and cheap. I can make a living from the sale of guppy’s. If you have a lot of aquariums you can make a lot of money with them.
When I had my guppy tank as a kid I used to get all of these leopard spotted ones. I was kinda surprised to hear in this video that they will die in soft water, because we never really treated our water and it was really soft.
I don't think that it's the most important aspect ever, they can survive in soft water. I have a group in soft and for the most part, they've been okay.
I have a question, so recently my mum got a small 1 gallon tank. I tried to explain to my mum she couldn't put fish in that tank because its WAY to small. She doesn't listen, and is still convinced she could fit 5 guppy's in a small 1 gallon. and that they would need at least a 5 to 10 gallon tank, but she keeps telling me she's had guppy's before and knows what she's doing... Someones help would be great.
This may be in vein but, general rule is 1" of fish per one gallon (Maximum), 3-10 times gph for filtration and vacuum waste/debris from susbtrate while doing a water change weekly. The weekly water change should be 15-25% of aquarium water. Always use an aquarium heater for tropical fish and only feed them what they can eat in a few mins. Breeder once told me that fish's stomachs are about the size of their eyeballs as a good rule of thumb. Hope that helps if you needed information still. If not then at least maybe this will help someone else!
Don’t mix, nature always finds a way, you’ll end up with fry if you have the two sexes, there’s always one or ten fry that escape the parents somehow and you’ll have a population increase in a hurry 😁👍🏻
@@4door_papi no, definitely not over stocked for a 30gal. I have a 2x 18gal tanks and in one I have 1x honey gourami 2x angel fish 10x black neon tetras 5x neon tetras 1x corydora (They get on reasonably fine) You're tank should be fine, seeing that those seem to be small fish they should be perfect
Hey Corey I'm going to be building a turtle pond in my yard. Turtles aren't supposed eat goldfish or rosey red minnows. I was wondering about putting guppies or swordtails in for the turtles. The pond will be 6 feet deep would these types of fish be able to overwinter in a pond that deep I'm in zone 6b.
Mark Patrick sorry it’s late but if you do want fish so that you’r turtles can eat them, go can get feeder fish, which are literally feeder fish, so it wouldn’t matter if they get eaten because they reproduce A LOT. The surviving the cold part, I don’t know
awesome guppies! i currently have a 29 gallon planted tank with 30 or so guppies they are very interesting fish to watch. specially when a female gives birth ! keep up the good videos
I love these guys almost as much as my shrimp =] Cant wait to redo my basement for a breeding room to get some really cool strains of these guys going!
Still enjoy this video! I'll confirm what you said in the video about how they fall apart in lower pH, which has proven to be a challenge in my 10 gal tank. I now have mixed in crushed coral to the substrate as you recommended, and that boosted the pH to 7.2-7.4. Great re-watch!
I'm starting to feel like I just got really angry neon tetras, everyone always touts them as some of the less aggressive tetras but mine are little devils, I started with four and one of mine bit the whole tail off of one of my other neon that one obviously perished(I could see the fishes spine!!) and I figured ya know what may be the school is to small(which it was) so I went to and bought about 5 of hem and within a month I'd list two from aggression and one to neon tetras disease well I drew the line when they killed my little baby panda Cory I could tell it was them because like with all of the deaths other than the NTD death the tail was bitten off down to the spine.
You need to keep fish in a proper school. Bare minimum being at least 6 really. Check out this video as it explains what I am talking about. ruclips.net/video/c5CysigH6f4/видео.html
When you see aggression like that, take the aggressive fish back to the fish store or separate the fish. The stores near me have either a 2 week or 30 day return policy on fish. I bought a school of 6 zebra danio and realized a few days later, by behavior, that I only had 1 female in the school and all the males were fighting each other, also the alpha male was nipping the tail fin of the female. Each time I took a male out, there would be a new alpha, so I returned all the males and kept the female, because she was hurt. It was sad to see her hide all day and not come up for food. Her tail wasn't too bad, just looked jagged. I'm so glad I caught it early on; her tail fully grew back within 1-2 weeks. I don't want to get more zebra danio, so she shares a tank w/guppies and cories. I'd get some female zebra danio, but they are really hard to figure out the sex in the fish store!
After I put crushed corals to my old tank (former betta tank in 15g 😂), do I need to wait for a few hours before I can put my guppies inside the tank? Another question, I want to put a pair of cory catfish and fancy guppies in 15g tank, how many male and female guppy do I have to buy? My first plan was to put all males in one tank but I read one of your comment that they might become aggresive to each other. So I think I have no choice but to put both gender in my tank. I'll just research more on how to take care of guppy fry. You're reply is much appreciated. Thank you! 😊
So I'd do at least 3 corydoras. As for Crushed coral, once you add it, I'd wait like a week for it to buffer the water and settle out, then add the guppies. I'd start with say 2 males, 4 females?
It's would be best to keep all females rather than males because if you keep all males they tend to be aggressive to one and other and bite each other's fins where as females are very good together :)
males can get very aggressive if the tank is not heavy planted (or lots of hiding place). Once they all hit maturity, and no female around, they start going ham on each other. So what I do to fix that problem is usually give them enough space so they don't start battling each other out. Instead of 1 gallon of water per guppy, i usually raise that bar to 2.5 or 3 gallon per guppy. But I been putting them together with the female, so I didn't have that aggressive issue anymore (for now)
I bought some guppies for my 30 gallon tank about a month ago, i've never kept them because of the same reason you said, ''they are overdone''. But i really like them, they just bring so much color and life to the tank and i think i want to keep them forever :3 Just like my shrimp and plecos.. and platies and mollies and angelfish and omg i need room for more tanks.. XD
Ayusha Thapa I have water that runs around ph 7.8 and liquid rock hardness. I don't have to take any steps farther than coral or shells. It really depends on your own parameters. If you have water that's just outside what is guppy heaven, and you don't have anything other than guppies, you can add a little instant ocean to the water to give a few minerals to the water, or use buffers. If you run acidic water over a coral substrate though it should dissolve some of the carbonates in the coral and raise the ph. As long as you don't do massive water changes it should resist changes to the ph back to your water supply. I find chasing ph to be a massive pain. If I want softer water I put peat moss in one of the trays of my canister. If I want to raise it I use seashells. I don't buy fish outside my area so they are better used to less than ideal water for their species, and I like having the water change slowly over time.
Ahh I see but what if I don't want the number to get to out of hand because they are going to be with a betta, a apple snail, and 2 siamese algae eaters so I don't want it to get too over crowded . What would I do if that were to happen?
Karol Escobar if it's heavily planted, some may survive. I have a 55 gallon that's going to have spaces to hide. so far I have a guromi, a betta, 6 zebra danios, and a black skirt tetra (his school died. had him for a while. getting more soon). I hope to add some guppies (males and females). before that, I'm gonna add more fake plants and more hiding spaces.
Great guppy Video . i learn so much from watching your videos. It has really helped me breed Fancy rainbowtail guppys. Trying to make a video that really catches the fin color is hard. Thanks again for all the great advice
I started out with a 5 gallon with 4 guppies and a betta. The betta liked snacking on fry so I had to net out the fry into a smaller tank until I got a ten gallon.
I really want to get back in to the hobby, I had a small 5-10gallon with just a single betta, and he died just after 4 months. Not sure what went wrong but small tanks are really hard to maintain. Wish I went bigger
My guppies did really well with my red tailed shark, and now they're with my ram cichlids. I have videos on my channel of my guppies and cichlids together, and maybe one when they were with the shark, if you're interested in seeing them interact. I think they do well with the cichlids because the guppies are so outgoing the cichlids don't feel like they have to hide... I even have them in with a breeding pair. I do however take them out when the cichlids are spawning, due to the display of aggression the cichlids show. Maybe my fish are just well tempered cause the shark is with some Siamese algae eaters right now, and he really only chases them when there's food involved.
I think you have moved on from guppies to other fish from your latest videos but this was a good one. I have 100 tanks going, 75 are guppies, mainly the ifga type, and dumbo ears etc.
That's great! I hope they did well for you. Austria has some of the best swordtail guppies and doubleswords. Some strains of them rarely if ever seen in the USA.
A story about keeping guppies with other fish, I once had a black male molly, and black and orange female, and a boy and girl guppy. The black male chewed of the male guppy fin, and he kept living for months after that. But be careful with guppies and molly. Also, the molly bred and I gave one of the mollys to my grandparents, and the fish is now 3 inches long!

That’s so cool and sweet :)
A wonderful way to honor your brother.

Do you think it would be ok to stock a 29 gallon with:
5 Kuhli Loaches
6 Rummy nose tetras
6 Neon tetras
4 Guppies (1 male 3 female)
That's quite a bit for 30 gallons. I'd drop the rummy nose school and the kuhli unless you have good filtration and don't mind deep water changes.

You are the coolest person ever. It needed to be said.
+Albino Tortoise uh oh don't let my sife hear that! Lol
+Albino Tortoise wife*
My guppy ate my red cherry shrimp 😑
Tiny budgie woah! How big was your guppy! Mine is suuuper tiny.
McKenna Barnette My Tarantula are my Guppy
Mo Ali Dafuq,My Snake is my Guppy
My Hamster is my Guppy LoL
Guppy nerd of the year! You might have something going on there. Make your own guppy championships. Happy guppy.
I was just wondering how many you can put in a 10gallon tank?
12 probs
NO NO NO do not do 12 a rule to go by is 1 gallon of watER per 1 inch of fish but guppies usually get 2 inches for only do 5 is what I suggest
Can't wait to start my
tank 😁
Do you have any Endlers?
Yes, I believe at the shop we have zebra endlers at the moment and I need to bring in some Blue Silverado endlers out of quarantine.
Aquarium Co-Op Oh, where did you get them from because I need some Female livebearer Endlers fast
A good source for Endlers would be www.aquabid.com
Aquarium Co-Op Ok thanks!
I subbed because of this video.
what if u don't wanna breed them
keep all males
It's would be best to keep all females rather than males because if you keep all males they tend to be aggressive to one and other and bite each other's fins where as females are very good together :)
males can get very aggressive if the tank is not heavy planted (or lots of hiding place). Once they all hit maturity, and no female around, they start going ham on each other. So what I do to fix that problem is usually give them enough space so they don't start battling each other out. Instead of 1 gallon of water per guppy, i usually raise that bar to 2.5 or 3 gallon per guppy. But I been putting them together with the female, so I didn't have that aggressive issue anymore (for now)
How many can I put in a 10 gallon? I wanna a pretty active tank but not over stocked, great vid! ;D just subbed
just get males then or let the fry die duh!
I'm really starting to enjoy the little fish
+Damion Markham all fish are awesome. I keep a little of everything. My interest are in whatever keeps me entertained.
I only have 6 fancy guppies😂
Emily Sage I had five but one jumped and the other died for mysterious reasons...
Jerome Saverimuttu Oh wow😂😭
Emily Sage yeah lol
I love both guppies and endlers...always have a tank with guppies and another with endlers.
can i use betta feeds like sinkers sot that lead sinkers but the brownpowder like sinker?
I bought some guppies for my 30 gallon tank about a month ago, i've never kept them because of the same reason you said, ''they are overdone''. But i really like them, they just bring so much color and life to the tank and i think i want to keep them forever :3 Just like my shrimp and plecos.. and platies and mollies and angelfish and omg i need room for more tanks.. XD
how to prevent guppy's getting sucked in the pump?
+Patz Airsoft/Gaming use an intake sponge. If you look on my website or channel I have a video on it called filter tips and tricks
Keep them in the right water so they don't die and get sucked up
Favourite fush guppy👍💕
Can I have 3 males in a 5 gallon?
Yes as long as you have some type of filtration and do not overfeed them.
Raji Singh beware they may fight . One of my males killed my other 3 by continuously ripping their fins and harassing them.
they could start fighting. put some live plants and a good heater
They are so pretty! Getting some guppies on the weekend :)
how do u get the ph and hardness up
lemon juice ?
No.
A tried and sure way is to use active substrate such as crushed coral or shells.
so u don't need to condition the water?
I got big American cichlids so they are a great "cheap" food source for them but they are just fun to watch
+Matthew Despaw exactly.
How many can I keep in a 10 gallom
I recommend starting with a trio of 1 male and 2 females and letting them breed up the number.
Ahh I see but what if I don't want the number to get to out of hand because they are going to be with a betta, a apple snail, and 2 siamese algae eaters so I don't want it to get too over crowded . What would I do if that were to happen?
Well it's likely the betta is going to eat fry, and could possibly go after the adults. also know that the siamese algae eaters get 6 inches.
Well my tank is going to be very heavily planted so they have lots of space to hide.and I do know siamese algae eaters can get pretty big.
I also love fancy guppies and endlers❤️
When he said they like “hard water” tho 😂
I love love love me some guppies!
Love me some guppies! I currently have 6 tanks with guppies!
+Michael's Fish Room Oh, so just getting started with guppies then :P
+Aquarium Co-Op Yes because 3 of the tanks are just different batches of fry! I am losing some Tanaka Blues as you probably saw in my last video :(
Guppies can be a rough gig :( All depends on how they were raised before you got em what water they were used too etc.
really love guppies. very relaxing. nice video sir.
Great video Cory! I loved my Fancy Guppies that I had in my 20 long!! Started getting over crowded so unfortunately some became turtle food.
The circle of life :)
Guppies are so cute!!
Great guppy Video . i learn so much from watching your videos. It has really helped me breed Fancy rainbowtail guppys. Trying to make a video that really catches the fin color is hard. Thanks again for all the great advice
Guppys are super fun to keep
Very cool video, Cory! I'm planning on getting some Guppies soon. :)
+Josh's Aquatics & Railroad Videos great, my evil plan is working. Guppies will be all the rage again like in the 70s before i was born lol!
Aquarium Co-Op Well I didn't see that coming... XD
Wow they are so beautiful
beautiful i bought some guppies yesterday
thanks. i learned a lot in one video
great video... would love to see more like this.
Total Guppy Groupie here. Im breeding pink magenta albinos. so so pretty!!
Love the ones with the blue tails.
I started out with a 5 gallon with 4 guppies and a betta. The betta liked snacking on fry so I had to net out the fry into a smaller tank until I got a ten gallon.
Great!
Dude I love your videos. Thank you so much
I really want to get back in to the hobby, I had a small 5-10gallon with just a single betta, and he died just after 4 months. Not sure what went wrong but small tanks are really hard to maintain. Wish I went bigger
Good looking store! You helped me with so much information!
I love raising guppies❤️
good job Corey.
Really good vid keep it up!
+Carson Burnand will do, videos out almost daily
Great vid! Super helpful!
great video mate
I think you have moved on from guppies to other fish from your latest videos but this was a good one. I have 100 tanks going, 75 are guppies, mainly the ifga type, and dumbo ears etc.
I still keep guppies. I brought back a strain from the championships in Austria this year.
Thanks for more information
guppy are cool they breed like crazy
Indeed. My favorite Fish :)
Loved you videos! Very helpful!
Great stuff! Love guppies. Currently breeding ivory mosaic blues.
+BigWig Aquatics Nice :)
Great video!
