Ever notice that when they sell tanks the picture on the side of the box usually shows fish that won't fit in that tank. ... Or other times with tank will come with horrendously bad stocking recommendations printed right on the side of the box.
young spy Depends how planted your tank is, hiding places, filtration, flow, bio filtration what else you have or want in the tank ect. Too many variables to just say how many can go in a single tank. I'd recommend looking up the ones you like in the video and doing a little research. Cheers.
I disagree, he is just putting out some (great) suggestions of what you could put in there. How much, you can research that yourself, as you'll need to research water params and food etc anyways. It also depends heavily on planting, filter setup and the other livestock you want to put in there.
I have 14 tetras in my 10 gallon rummynose, neons and cardinals been there over a year with no problems the tank runs itself no nitrite, almost no nitrate they get fed once a day and are super vibrant and never stressed its all about filtration
Love this and I hope it becomes a series I work at a pet store and as much as I know about fish this video taught me a lot of things about the smaller species. 10 gallon tanks are probably the most common size that people come in with because they are small and affordable for the beginner. And the beginners are the ones who need to be taught what can go in a 10 gallon because they seem to think that if it fits in the tank it will live.
Aquarium Co-Op can u keep Khuli loaches in a 7 gallon with A beta? (Please respond I might be getting my old friends aquarium and I know that Betas don't bother bottom feeders) {what do u feed the khuli loaches like a pellet or will they just eat the betas poop} sorry so many question I'm just now getting into the hobby!!!!!??!!?!!?!?!??!??
My 2 cents! Do videos like this when you can - I have to tell you that THESE videos are what brought me to your channel, and I've been rabidly consuming content SINCE that point. I've started drinking the Kool Aid on proper filter maintenance, I've learned about different lights, and I've seen new species of fish I didn't know were around. 101 level "List" videos, a bit dull though they may be to someone who has been into your channel for a long time, DEFINITELY have appeal to somebody just starting out in the hobby!
thanks cory... My betta just recently passed away due to a heater burn (my fault for using an older heater I trusted) and this video gave me some ideas. It feels pretty bad looking at my 10 gallon right now without my betta in it.
You mentioned a few in this video that are recommended for offices. I'd like to see a video dedicated to office set ups! Do most office set ups not have heaters?
This was great! Let's do more of these with different tank sizes. Or plants? Would also be cool to see videos done by water parameters. "5 fish for Seattle water"
Could you do a video on Nano tank fish? I have a 5 gallon tank and I only know of Ember tetra's and Galaxy Rasbora's and I wonder if there could be more fish variety besides those two.
I would stick with a betta. Maybe do some guppies or tetras. If you wanna do something different you could stick and African dwarf frog in there. Snails and shrimp are fun too to add in
Kenny Bowen I recently added a bumblebee goby to my betta's 10 gal with ghost shrimp. He's pretty happy snacking on the babies lol. This is my first nano predator and I love them!!
Awesome! Currently the 10 I have set up is in my fiances classroom and has a betta with a small group of guppies. It is planted as well and doing great so far!
Kenny Bowen I'd love to see that! In my other 10 I have a dwarf powder blue gourami that enjoys spitting at me. He's in there with some rasboras. I really want the green rasboras so they can stand out against my red plants.
I bought my second 10 gallon yesterday from a discount store right before my wisdom tooth surgery so now that I’m currently sitting around doing nothing I was watching this for ideas for it. I’ll probably get so endlers for it honestly.
Fantastic!! I gained so much! I have a twenty long heavily planted I can add some different little schools to. I love the brown pencil fish! Thank you!
You don't know how much poop the little buggers drop in my planted aquarium mate. All they do is eat and poop! Eat and poop! Also, fuck! Don't forget the fucking! They sure produce babys. I bought one female and a few month later 11 Baby fishlets!
I keep a halfmoon king betta in my ten gallon and it is perfect for him! He has a cave and plenty of plants and room to swim. He goes around the whole tank but likes to sit on the heater and in the cave.🐟
I have 5 danios in my tank. All glofish danios and I love them. They are so happy and healthy and they obviously get along very well. If you get like a black backdrop the colors really pop and it looks amazing! They're really easy to take care of as well
I use my 10G tank as a guppy fry tank! Got like 200+ fry at this point. Tank is 2/3 plants to keep nitrates down. As they grow, i move the babies to larger tanks! Works brilliantly!
Love those teacup platies! Do you ever stock variants other than the "red wag"? I think I might just have to drive up to the store and pick up a trio for my 15 gallon ;)
Jeremy, I believe it is simply a "dwarf" or "balloon" variant (similar to the balloon molly). I think teacup is just the kind of cute term that they use (certainly makes it sound more adorable 😉)
Oh man this video, I really appreciate the effort you put in. It definitely gave me some ideas for fish i might want, thank you! I would like to see and extended version, maybe 10 More fish you can keep, or 10 fish for a bit larger aquarium like 20-30 gallon tanks.
FINALLY you have no idea how long I've been waiting for this video, I set up a 10 gallon not too long ago, my first planted tank, I have some cherry shrimp, an African dwarf frog (I've had it for 5 years and I wanted him to have more room) and a gold gourami, thinking about moving the gourami out
Beautiful video, great lighting and the fish look beautiful... but confused on the recommendations. Cichlids, especially apistogramma, are territorial fish. I've tried keeping 2 in a 16 gallon - and even with plenty of cover and hiding spaces they were regularly at each other. I have also tried other varieties and recommend a 20 gallon at the bare minimum, preferably long. The loaches also get quite big and would outgrow a 10 gallon quickly.
Anyway you could do one of these vids for a 55 gallon tank? I know the amount of options goes way up with more fish, but I know I and lots of people would probably enjoy it. Thanks.
Recently set up a tank for Multies only to discover the one store near me that had them was sold out as well as every website I went to. These little guys really do get snatched up quick.
Thanks for the great info. Also I prefer this style of editing more than the ones with the longer transitions like the local fish store I own it video but I'm only one person.
I have a betta with 6 glow light tetras and 1 bottom feeder in a 10gallon no fighting my betta is pretty chill. He would just eat and sleep all day when he was alone, he is now more active but not aggressive towards the tetras. They all mind their own business and stay out of each other way.
Krissy Kiesel I have a 10 gallon with 1 male betta and 3 corydoras. Gonna upgrade to a 20 gallon soon, hope I can add 2 more corydoras and up to 8 harlequin rasboras in there.
I have 6 bettas together with a cpl Cory's, some Otos and a snail. They all get along great. Then I have a koi Betta with 4 Cory's and a pleco (plecplec is moving into a big tank soon). And 4 males all in 10 and 5 gal tanks. Bettas are amazing fish. Fun to watch. Amazing personalities. And I hate the fact people don't do there own research or have there own experiences to go off on.
I don’t want to breed fish. I’m interested in the apistogrammas. Can you have males only? How many males can you keep in a ten gallon? Or should you only have one? Thanks!
@@sarasthoughts yes, I know but most people dont care for them properly (most of the time a waayyy too small tank) anf they die after 1 or 2 years which is just sad

Why don’t you have any fish on your website
Ok

People at Petco: I recommend a pair of Oscars lol
Why is that true tho😭😂
“Some goldfish would be a good choice.” Not even one. SOME.

I’d say a wells car or maybe and Aripama
Can definitely fit a few bala sharks too
I think it would be better if you tell us how many of them you can put in the 10 gallon tank.
+young spy except it completely depending on your skill and how you have the tank setup

Aquarium co-op: Maybe at most keep a few love bearers.
Workers at petco: Maybe a few sliver arowana and a flowerhorn
And a common pleco to clean up!
Don't forget the redtail
And 7 oscars

That neon green rasbora is amazing
You should do this for a 20 gallon tank as well
Scott Mitchell I agree
I think one for a 20 long tank to be more specific.
He did. Just look it up on RUclips.👍
"Killi" translates to "puddle". They're puddle fish ;)

Fish For Thought sorry you lost your Betta.
Thanks Cory, love your videos. I would really like to see something along the lines of “fish that work with shrimp” or “shrimp tank mates”.
I love your enthusiasm for platys. They're my favorite.
You should do a top 5 for 5 gallon next. Not many videos on that. I have a 5 gallon ready for fish, but I'm not sure what to put in it.
"Killifish aren't nice to smaller fish"
Keeps them with neon tetras

they're so underrated in the aquarium hobby. In fact, all killies seem to be

i know right!
Killifish can sometimes be aggressive, and Taylor Nicole Dean's Killifish actually murdered all of the other Killis in the tank!

How about best non schooling fish for 15 gal? I just want one fish and my "pest" snails.
Should do this for 5,10,20 and so on this is so good cory
Love this especially because it is short and informational all at once. Love, love, love these short videos
I've read on forums that a 10 gallon is too small for most of these fish. I'll trust your word for it though, given your expertise.
Going by everything you say. picked up my 10 gallon today, will get all the other things over the next few weeks. Thanks so much.

Thank you for such detailed, informative videos. I am finding them very helpful!

Nice series idea Cory!
Those green neon rasboras are awesome
Really enjoying this series. Totally think you should do one for 20 gallons. Seems to be one of the most common tank sizes in the hobby
Love the video series. Please also do a video which explains what are good fishes which cover bottom, middle and top parts of an aquarium

Great list. Kubotai Rasboras are amazing, I thought about getting them when I was setting up my 10G. A lot of great suggestions.
Betta companion suggestions perhaps? I think more people should realize betta fish don't have to be alone and in a tiny bowl..
