@@JaimeMartinez-lx9lg, 800 fish in a 100 gallon tank sounds bad whether or not you do frequent water changes and it's heavily planted. That's 8 fish per gallon.
I have brigittae rasboras female endlers and neons schooling together in my betta tank. I also have some Amanos in there, but it took several months for them to realize that they don't have to hide from the betta. I really hit the jackpot with this one, he's so docile, he doesn't even attack baby shrimp.
Dominic H. The betta I had with my neons was given to me by one of my frat brothers. I forget why he had it but it turned out to be a pretty mild mannered fish. In fact, most of the bettas I’ve owned over the years have been pretty docile towards everything except pond snails lol
@@jackadair6225 This Betta of mine doesn't bother snails either, he was in the same tank with nerite and ramshorn snails before. Endlers are always nipping at them, this Betta just leaves them be.
Guess you guys lucked out😂😂 I have 3 bettas, two of whom has their own 10 gal tank. i can't place anything else in there execpt an apple snail in each tank. I have a halfmoon plakat betta, giant betta and a halfmoon king betta. The halfmoon king is quite mild mannered. I have some amano shrimps and some cherry shrimps with him, so far so good.

Before I started watching fish keeping videos on RUclips I set up a cold water danio/Cory tank and its amazing, Cory’s have so much underrated personality
Great!! Now I have to stop after work tomorrow and grab at least two 20gal longs, order more sponge filters, substrate, plants etc.... All because Corey makes awesome videos. Thank god for the income tax return!
Years ago the Vancouver Aquarium had an Amaxon exhibit and I'll never forget the huge cross section of a river with hundreds of neon tetras. Epic. 🙂👍🇨🇦
Hey Cory, after watching a bunch of your videos you've really inspired me to start at tank not only for my self but for my son as well. He has a 10gal an I started a 29gal! We love watching your videos together and learning about all the cool fish in the hobby. Its really is a great thing to do as a family. Keep up the great videos and thanks for doing what you do !
Hey Cory! I wanted you to know that you're a huge inspiration to all of us in the fish keeping community. You're videos are super interesting and fun to watch. Where is your store located? Thanks!
Cory, I love your videos. Your naratives are informative. I particularly like it when we are watching the tank displays or the fish you are describing. The product evaluations are also informative. thanks again!
Hey could you maybe do a video on top 5 or 10 unheated fish? That would help alot. Btw your videos help so many people, it has helped me through a tank fail. That tank is now really stable and I replaced all the fake plants with live plants. So thanks and keep up the work your doing Cory!
Instead of 20 neon tetras (since they need to be heated) you could do 20 White Cloud Mountain Minnows, which do not require a heater and very much thrive in cold temps. They’re so cute and school together just like neons! ❤️
Freshwater introduced me to fish keeping and I used to binge all the freshwater videos I could... Now that I'm mainly salt water it makes me miss the simpler times when I would be spooked at a $6 fish.
bred psuedos, guppys or endlers, cpds, bristlenose, obviously white clouds, apistogramma cauc, and kribensis with no heater. just room temps. Good luck everyone :)
I had 4-5 convict cichlids in my 20 gallon long. People will say that size is too small for so many, and from that experience I agree, but I made it work with lots of silk plants, caves, driftwood, etc. For them to claim and hide in. I'd taken them home after finding out that they were going to be abandoned in a cold classroom for several weeks during winter vacation after an experiment was completed and were in a liter soda bottle. I didn't even know what they were, but I had a tank already and added them. They ate everyone but my apple snail. Such a diet allowed them to get big fast. I loved them and they were adorable when they came up to the tank wall with their tails wagging, and I liked watching them do their territory dances/displays. I enjoyed my danios before the cichlids ate them. I'd like to have danios again sometime.
I have a planted 15gallon with last time I counted them 16 neons, 6 platys and 1 dark blue betta female. It is my most stable tank of all. No or very little algue, every now and then it needs a gravel vac, but it really is a very nice tank.
That first tank, the one with the neons,... beautiful. Now, I'm not trying to start something here, but I gotta ask, what does that tank look like in a year or two? Is it high maintenance? Algae?
I got my fi Dr fish today, I was pretty excited. I know it’s not much but I got 6 guppies, 2 beautiful males and 4 females, I acclimated them, feed them and they seem to be happy and curious exploring the 20galling long their in

I so wish you made this video sooner, entered the hobby late last year and was watching a lot of vids to try to get some ideas. You've inspired me for future tanks though. Thank you!
a nice group of cherry barbs and a blue betta and blue shrimps is amazing for a starter set. ( fully planted ofcourse ) or everything red and make it a blackwater tank looks great aswell.
Another idea is the blue spider crab, which is a amazing purple (or dark blue, I can't tell) they are as big as you can do for a 20 gal, so only get one, they are more of a vivarium type animal though, so it would be ideal for mostly land with a pool for them to soak in, VERY active and fun to keep
I think I'm meant to be a subscriber - the Pseudomugil rainbowfish idea is EXACTLY what I'm planning to do with my 20 gallon once I'm done raising my platy fry in it. Small school of them, some Rummynose Tetras, and some cories. Fallen in love with the gold cories recently, but haven't decided for sure. Excited to set it up in a few months!
I agree they are a great underrated cold water fish.... though they're not tetras. I have a small school of them with a small group of Gold Barbs. Survive unheated winter temperatures in my house (I keep it at 55*F in the winter for economic reasons) From what I've read not many aquarium fish tolerate waters that cold. Very active too, even in cold water.
the psedomugils looks soo pretty i did research online and wow they are a lot they are soo nice i plan on getting the forktail rainbow thx for introducing this species
This is a great series, I look forward to future popular tank sizes. It's fun to see what others, especially those that have been in the "game" for a while, would stock in their tanks.
Cory, this video hit all the marks for my family! My first tank was a danio and Cory tank, my sister LOVES shrimp, and my dad loves the neon tank. I’m sending this link to anyone asking what to do with their 20s!
White Cloud mountain fish are good for old retired men like me. They don't need a heater and with a lot if plants look, breed and the babies have lots of hiding spaces. They eat about anything and prefer cooler water. They need no heater and are very easy to take care of.
I have an unheated 45g hex with a bamboo shrimp, gold white clouds, and I recently added two Amano shrimp and three hillstream loaches. Bamboo shrimp do great if you feed them spirulina powder. It’s an interesting tank to IMO.
i run a filter feeding tank with guppys mollys and bamboo shrimp. works out super good the shrimp keep the water clean and the food you feed the fish the shrimp also eat. heavily plant the tank and you will hardly have to change the water. use first bites or grind up flake fine.
Very helpful video. I needed to restock my 29gal and was inspired by the ideas presented here. I decided on planted (of course) with Dwarf Neon Rainbowfish up top, long fin serpae tetra in the middle and dwarf chain loach down low. They are all still small but very happy with the setup. Thank you for providing great ideas for stocking.
