I’m glad you mentioned the Mollies being difficult to keep. IMO, they are probably one of most difficult livebearers to keep because some can be semi-aggressive and fairly large. Cory from Aquarium Co Op, also mentions that some are raised in brackish water overseas and have difficulty adjusting to water in the US. Because of this, if you’re going to get a Molly, I’d say try to find a local breeder.

Love Cory Cats. Truly a beginner fish! When I first started keeping fish I thought they just came in the "peppered" variety.... Lord was I wrong! I love the Julii Cory's or the Panda Cory's. Absolutely love watching them torpedo to the top and back down.
I'm new to the hobby and started with 4 guppys and 4 platys in a 10 gallon. I underestimated how quickly guppys breed and now have 16 guppys and 4 platys. So I bought a used 30 gallon last night and I can't wait to start a whole new system in my 10 gallon as well as adding a new species to the 30 with the guppys. I'm thinking a pleco species (always liked how cool clown plecos look). I'm thinking cory cats and a type of gourami for the 10 gallon but we'll see!
If you haven't already stocked your 10g, and are still leaning toward cories and gourami, I would really suggest one of the smaller cories, such as pygmies, so you can have a larger group, and a sunset honey gourami, which generally have a pretty gentle demeanour, and are on on the smaller side, but still give you that great pop of colour.
I have 5 pea puffers in my 29 gallon along with one pleco. The tank has plants, wood, and rocks, so they have plenty of areas to claim as theirs. A year in and they are all doing well.
Omg, what's that tiny little one @ 6:30-6:45?! It's lower left of the screen next to the yellow guppy. He's so cute! Scissor tail & big black line from mouth to belly...

I put a pair of lelupi 6 princella tetras 2 checker board barbs an a bristle nose pleco. Moderately planted and this is one of my favorite tanks that I set up. The lelupi just had babies so my 55 gal has some free fish coming soon.
I have 9 Cory catfish, all different breeds, they run as a pack with no problems 🙌🔥 By the way, I love the channel!!! You guys are awesome and you get in depth on things that usually no one else brings up! Keep it up I subscribed! 😈🔥
Doesn't mean a lack of care, fish could have died of old age, a kelp deal gone wrong, you don't know that fishes backstory man, let him die where it wants to...
I set up a 29g with a sand bottom and some mopani wood; heavily planted with anubius, java fern, bolbitis, tiger lotus, and java moss. It was supposed to be for dwarf puffers, until I saw a suvatti puffer. Now people look at it and tell me how good it looks. Then they ask me when I'm going to put fish in it. He's usually looking right at them!
@@PrimeTimeAquatics I did finally get those dwarf puffers, though! There's 9 fat little murder beans coming out of qt tonight after a much needed deworming to heavily scaped and planted 35g hex. Any excuse for a new tank. Trying to decide if I really need that t.v. I never watch...
@@PrimeTimeAquatics BTW, thank you for the videos. I've been keeping fish for almost 30 yrs and one of my favorite things about this hobby is that we'll never know it all. Your video on multies has caused me to pick up another 20g long. And I thought I'd grown out of cichlids. My next tank was going to be one I've never done. A cave biotope for blind cave tetras. Guess I'll just have to get another tank....
I have a 20 gallon and I need to upgrade because I have lemon tetras and penguin tetras & three Panda loaches in a 10gallon with some Rams I have lost my senior male German Blue Ram there is also the Golden Rams. I might be shy of a mix there may also be Bolivian Ram .... come fall the minnows outside need to come back in from their Summer venture.
@@PrimeTimeAquatics nice very pretty. I have a ram I got 2 weeks ago and he ( although im thinking its a she im sticking with he) is doing great and I cant wait for him to get a bit larger and have him for as long as possible!
I think it’s important for anyone new to the hobby to consider male to female ratio of each species. If you do a good job of making a nice home they will breed. Or the opposite too many males might be more aggressive to fight for hierarchy.
I have a 29 gallon half cylinder aquarium. I was gonna make a plant wall on the back and maybe keep the foreground pretty open. Or make a focal point in the center for some cool schooling. Which do you think would turn out better? And which fish do you think would make a completely peaceful tank.
@@PrimeTimeAquatics I was thinking honey gouramis, khuli loaches, corydoras, and platys maybe some rummy-nose. With a planted wall back and a bunch of natural hiding holes on the bottom of various sizes. With a sand runner right up front against the glass. Maybe make it look like a trees roots grew over the rock wall on back.
Have 12 cherry barbs, 12 kuhli loaches, 3 nerite snails, 1 panda garra, 1 golden wonder Killifish that was from a breeding project, 2 male forktail rainbows that were also from a breeding project, and 3 microctenopoma, which would make a great care guide video. If I wanted a centerpiece fish for a 29, I'd pick pearl gourami.
Hi, I was wondering your thoughts on having a community of Panda Cory, green neons, Odessa barbs and forktail rainbowfish for the top. Trying to decide on some good variety of colors and shapes that are peaceful for a new 29 gal tank. Thanks for your videos!
@@PrimeTimeAquatics Thanks...have been looking for that centerpiece fish for my 29g for months...thinking this guy might be it. Will have to look more into them to make sure they fit in
I will sometimes add shellies with other types of small Lake Tanganyika cichlids, but I generally don't mix them with mbuna or peacocks - those fish are too large and can eat the shellies.
@@PrimeTimeAquatics thanks. It is a mbuna tanks but fish are medium size. Will keep.ot mainly mbuna. Probably not something I can add with another general tipe of tropical fish either. 🙂

Up date... Leleupis had babies. Dad tried to kill mom. So it's just mom an 4 juveniles in the 29. Dad ended up in my 55 with a couple parrot fish.
Great video I have a new tank and shall stock neon and black neon.Thank you sir.
I have 9 Cory catfish, all different breeds, they run as a pack with no problems 🙌🔥
By the way, I love the channel!!! You guys are awesome and you get in depth on things that usually no one else brings up! Keep it up I subscribed! 😈🔥
I really love my Emporer tetras!
I love them too! Had a pair in my 150.
Did anyone else notice the dead hatchet fish
Doesn't mean a lack of care, fish could have died of old age, a kelp deal gone wrong, you don't know that fishes backstory man, let him die where it wants to...
let that boy rest😭😭
@@Tootnscootno one said why it died. Just pointed out that it did
What were those rams at 07:18? I have never seen anything like those
Gold rams!
Love this video!! Good info. 😊😊😊
Thanks Sharron!
Great great information
Thanks : -)
How many platies would you recommend for 30 gallon?
One male and three females and let them breed.
Nice video...........great suggestions!!
Thank you!
can ya do also stocking options for a 15 gal
Nice ideas & thanks for sharing. I never thought of keeping hatchetfish before 🤔.
I used to have them all the time when I was a kid. NOt quite as easy to find anymore.
3:19 “They hang out near the top of the tank”
-dead hatchetfish floater goes by.
came to the comments as soon as i saw it
Great suggestions!
You should do 40 Breeder, there arent many videos on stocking 40Bs! Stating another one soon and looking for inspiration!
I've thought about it, but the stocking options for the 29 gallon and the 55 gallon cover so much for the 40B. :-)
Too funny!
Ok, that was hilarious! : -)
I might be shy of a mix there may also be Bolivian Ram .... come fall the minnows outside need to come back in from their Summer venture.
nice aquariums bro ( :
Thank you!
6:09 in the bottom right corner is that a Bolivian ram?
Ya, I have a few in that tank.
@@PrimeTimeAquatics nice very pretty. I have a ram I got 2 weeks ago and he ( although im thinking its a she im sticking with he) is doing great and I cant wait for him to get a bit larger and have him for as long as possible!
Could you make a Video on the 40 gallon breeder tank?
I will add it to the list!
Thanks!! Have a great day!
I see both Petoskey and Charlevoix stones in this video, where are you located?
We are in IL, but got them from someone else. :-)
I think it’s important for anyone new to the hobby to consider male to female ratio of each species. If you do a good job of making a nice home they will breed. Or the opposite too many males might be more aggressive to fight for hierarchy.
I can’t get guppies. I would just walk by singing “bubble bubble guppieeeesss🎶🎶🎶”
Nice video
Thank you!
Thanks great video
I have a 29 gallon half cylinder aquarium. I was gonna make a plant wall on the back and maybe keep the foreground pretty open. Or make a focal point in the center for some cool schooling. Which do you think would turn out better? And which fish do you think would make a completely peaceful tank.
Both would look nice. Just depends on what you want. :-)
6:37 what are those purple plants?
I think those might have been fake?
Woa Woa Woa…. Hold the phone. What is that cute little black and white smaller fish at 1:34-1:35?
That's a little baby Dicrossus (checkerboard cichlid).
@@PrimeTimeAquatics Thank you Jason. Appreciate all of your help!
Can you a 37 gallon stocking ideas?
what is that spotted fish that comes in at 1:34 with the corys?
Dicrossus? Maybe?
@@PrimeTimeAquatics Excellent, thanks!
What rocks are used at 11:19 stamp
Have 12 cherry barbs, 12 kuhli loaches, 3 nerite snails, 1 panda garra, 1 golden wonder Killifish that was from a breeding project, 2 male forktail rainbows that were also from a breeding project, and 3 microctenopoma, which would make a great care guide video. If I wanted a centerpiece fish for a 29, I'd pick pearl gourami.
Nice mix!
I read that in "12 days of Christmas" song and probably laughed too much about it. 🤣
What kind of barb is that at 14:18? Never seen those before.
I don't remember. Maybe Mascara Barb?
Red Panda Barbs
Hi, I was wondering your thoughts on having a community of Panda Cory, green neons, Odessa barbs and forktail rainbowfish for the top. Trying to decide on some good variety of colors and shapes that are peaceful for a new 29 gal tank. Thanks for your videos!
The Odessa might be a little assertive compared to the others? You could look at cherry barbs?
@@PrimeTimeAquatics thanks! Was looking at those too. Sounds like that’d be a better way to go with less aggression. All the best!
2:14 what worm is that?!?
Great job!! 👏
What tank sizes can One person carry and get home?? Up to a 40 gallon?? 33??
Maybe a 40 breeder but they are a little cumbersome. I’ve gotten 55s into place by myself with no issues.
What was the fish at 7:29 with the yellow on the head?
That is an electric blue ram!
@@PrimeTimeAquatics Thanks...have been looking for that centerpiece fish for my 29g for months...thinking this guy might be it. Will have to look more into them to make sure they fit in
Would you suggest to add some shell dwellers together with african ciclids specie only tank?
I will sometimes add shellies with other types of small Lake Tanganyika cichlids, but I generally don't mix them with mbuna or peacocks - those fish are too large and can eat the shellies.
@@PrimeTimeAquatics thanks. It is a mbuna tanks but fish are medium size. Will keep.ot mainly mbuna. Probably not something I can add with another general tipe of tropical fish either. 🙂
What types of rocks are in with the Julidochromis ornatus? They're stunning!
I think it might have been labeled as zebra rock at the petstore, but I don't know the official name.
@@PrimeTimeAquatics What fo you mean, you're not also a geologist! 😂 Thanks for the response! I'm sure I can track down something similar searching for that online. Great video BTW, I'm slowly stocking my 29 gallon planted and this had lots of awesome ideas!
3:19 dead fish floating
My 29 has 2 Hemichromis sp. Moanda (two males who get along well enough but one is definitely more dominant), a couple upside down cats and a bristlenose.
Just realized I posted these comments from our dead vlog channel. Lol
That's too funny. : -)
Could you do one of these for a 37 gallon tank?
You said no barbs in small tanks, I was wondering how do you feel about Cherry barbs and their requirements?
Those could work. I was thinking more the standard larger barbs.
Tinfoil barbs in a 10!!!! That what you ment jason? :) cuz they get like 15" EACH and you need a school or they barb out on ya
Nice
