I hope that Ford brings the Excursion back since they are bringing back older models and building trucks and SUV’s only. I think a completely truck based suv is the perfect competition to other car makers. Great Truck 👍

So a few things from a fellow 7.3 X owner:
    1) It has a 44 gallon tank. Better fill it now while fuel is cheap.....
    2) The mpg reading on the overhead screen is never accurate. It's amazing that it even works.
    3) The 6.0 can be a good motor if you spend the $6k to 'bulletproof' it.

The 7.3 will benefit tremendously with a GEAR VENDER over under drive when towing heavy trailers . RPMs are lowered by 750 rpm s
When engaged saving lots of money $ on fuel ,watching the RPM gauge at 3000+ for hours is nerve racking and noisy AS FU cruising ( no trailer ) at 75 MPH the RPM s will be around 1200 . Save a lot of fuel
Ware and tare and less noise they bolt on to the back of your transmission and the drive shaft will need to be shortened and rebalanced .
Don't forget to install a Alloy steel forward control drum when rebuilding the transmission, I had it done 3 times and it was the stock ford control drum that failed each time , ask anyone that has this , its the best 3000$ ever spent for the serious towing enthusiast . It's all about comfort and pice of mind.

Nice truck! I've always wanted an Expedition or Excursion. Place I used to work 20 years ago had an Expedition we used for hauling and delivery work. Got to drive it cross country and it was just fantastic. Best road trip vehicle ever. The only downside was the fuel use. But I still want one!

  • @rj78productions88

That excursion is gorgeous Bob, yes the taillights are the same as the econoline vans. I worked at a ford dealership when these first came out and got to do the pre delivery inspection on the first excursion on our lot and thought it was the coolest thing as i already was in love with the super duty's. I have an early 99 F-250 Super Duty with the 7.3 ltr in it. Its in a bit of a project state as of right now, but can't wait to get it back on the road. It has sat since 2016 so its needs some attention. I absolutely love the paint combo. I used to be a volunteer fire fighter and the company i was a member at had there trucks painted black over red like that. Just love that color combo. Enjoy it Bob. And as for the windshield, heres a good new change for there jingle, "Safelite Disgrace, Safelite don't care!"

Ford Excursion is the best SUV ever made and better will be only new Excursion. I hope Ford will produce new Excursions. Anyway, this old Excursions are still way stronger and much durable, than Expedition L, Expedition MAX or new Suburban/Yukon XL. Excursion is the best SUV for towing and it has the roomiest interior and the largest cargo space. So, Excursion is the King in Full-Size SUV segment. Better than any new or used full-size SUV. You bought the greatest SUV. Excursion is absolutely unique vehicle.

  • @66kprdwd

That is one sweet ride and for only $15,000 I think you got a great deal, especially with that front end modification. A lot of Excursions were bought and used by fire departments and a few police departments. The sales to the general public were never great, so I think that's why Ford dropped it. It was designed to be a competitor to the Hummer. You never fully comprehend how big an Excursion is until you stand next to one. You being 6'2" look positively tiny standing next to it. I agree with you about SafeLite. I only used them once for a rock damaged windshield on one of my Crown Vics. The guy showed up on time and did a fair, job but took two hours. He clearly didn't know what he was doing, but thankfully he didn't do any damage. I'll never use them again.

Safelite ran my local mom and pop glass repair shop out of town a couple years ago. These big companies have no compassion or personal interest in establishing good customer rapport. The company I used for over 15 years is no longer and at least in my neck of the woods, I would have to drive 45 minutes to get to the nearest Mom and Pop shop to get the personalized compassionate treatment that only home brew business owners possess. I feel your pain Bob! Beautiful Excursion! You didn't come anywhere near over paying. Enjoy it in good health! Zip~

That Homelink does require some special steps to program it. I've put them from Lincolns in several of my other cars and they are nice, once you get it working. There are a couple of types, so you might have to try the old style and new style programming. Sometimes you have to use the original remote to program it, and sometimes you can program it directly to the opener. The truck looks great. Good luck with it!

Nice facelift. Sounds similar to the '72 presidential Lincoln used by Nixon, received a facelift in '79...new 1979 Lincoln front clip......and a '79 rear clip. This was the car that roared to the hospital with Reagan in the back seat after he was shot in 1980.
