I have a 2005 limited diesel. I don't have the same need for the truck that I did when I bought it, and I don't daily drive it anymore, but....I will never get rid of it. It's not the most comfortable riding vehicle, but the driver's seat (captain's chair version) is the most comfortable driver's seat in any vehicle I've owned. A word of caution, one thing to look out for with Excursions is rust. Especially roof rust. If you're considering buying one, look for a clean one from southwest, west coast or Southern area far from the ocean. Salted winter roads, or salty ocean air can accelerate the tendency to rust from Excursions.
Ive owned several F250/350 super duty from 2004-2007 and they have all be extremely durable and reliable trucks. Im picking up an 05 Excursion with the V10 135K miles tomorrow. Was considering a new expedition timberline but INSANE price, plus all the high end tech/electronics is useless to me and just more garbage to break. These Excursions are no nonsense tanks that will take a beating
Damn discrimination much on big truck guys for sure.. bashing the fuck out of a lifted Excursion... I had a 2000 limited edition v10 4x4 and it was the best vehicle I’ve ever had... lifted 8” on 37’s drove fine to me and nothing could stop it. Only negative I had to pick about it was mpg’s, 7.5 a gallon wasn’t cool... sounds like a Prius would be a perfect fit for you...
i had one but kept getting some transmission error and got rid of it now that i got a better job with more money i wish i kept it and put more money into it to get it fixed
After the excursion was discontinued how come Ford had introduced an extended wheelbase version of the expedition to replace that was built on a less capable 1/2 ton F150 platform
Actually your wrong. The rear 2 doors are not from a f250. The f250s door are shorter. So everything from the FRONT SEATS are similar to f250. Even then the frame is different as well. So overall it's similar but not quite a f250
I have a 2000 with a 6.8 V10 307.000 miles on it. The rocker panels are rusted to hell so you can't step up on the running boards and fuel mileage 🤣😃7000+ pounds 10 cylinders RIGHT I LOVE it to death plus they have plenty of gas stations just pick one or two 😎
They are tanks. The doors have added iron bars crash bars!, they are massive wide! Real heavy bumpers. We added a farm Hand massive bumper: crash guard bumper weighs 500 pounds.
That is so true there's literally gas station everywhere and for your running boards I think there are some companies that fix them for cheap and you should get it fixed before it gets too bad
recently decided I'm gonna save up and get one of these, diesel version, and turn it into a prep vehicle. Do they make skid plates and armor kits for this?
Please stop reviewing and publishing video of vehicles you do not like. Comparing the ride of a lifted solid axle vehicle to another with real soft spring rates and independent front suspension does not make brownie points for you, either. You mention wanting tinted windows to keep the public from seeing you in this vehicle? You need not have put this out, and we'd have never known.
I love your excuse then one day I will own one, the guy that did this review probably drives a Prius, The way he was talking about it and reviewing it. 🤷🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️
All the 250 chassis ride like shit. You just have to except it because they look great and are reliable. And the most important if you have the 6.0 the turbo noise makes up for the shit ride quality haha
What mpg do you get in your stock 7.3? I get average just over 13 with a 6" lift, 6 position tuner switch, CAI, 4" exhaust, and 35" tires. Not sure how bad all that kills mpgs though
@@tylerdavis288 everything except the tires should help your mileage slightly. The tune really should as long as it’s on a efficient cruising economy tune can’t be like a hot tune. Lift and wheels and tires and gonna be the most strain on your mpgs though
@@tylerdavis288 I wouldn't worry about MPG for the Ford Excursion like no matter what you do you're not going to get that good on gas mileage just accept the truck for its reliability and its power as long as you continue to change your oil and make sure you're doing maintenance on the truck that thing can easily last 600,000 miles
Chill out dude. Why would you be embarrassed to drive around a bad ass suv. What kills me is people like me and my family need these vehicles. I want the power and reliability of a diesel with the tow capacity to boot. An f150 platform can’t do what these HD SUV’s can.
Ride quality can be fixed by not max airing the tires. They’re so full. They look like they’re gonna pop like a balloon. Air down a tad. Have a much better ride quality.
I agree the guy who was reviewing this truck was acting like changing the suspension it's such a bad idea and that it would kill your ride quality when all you need to do is lower your tire pressure
Your "environmental impact" is harldy a drop in a bucket. You can daily drive that and it would still give off less emissions than tayol swifts private jet.
I don't care about people glaring at me I'M an a*sho*e who will laugh at those people. If I ever do get one I am going to put one of those letter strips in the rear window and windshield that says econo box stomper. that way all the Prius drivers will have one more reason to hate on me.
I borrowed the vehicle from a dealer for the review and thats what they had it advertised as. I didn't double check with the door sticker so its possible.
He also says they get better towing capacity, I see the excursion only has an 11000 pound towing capacity for the 2005. My 2004 2500 burb has a towing capacity of 12k pounds from the big 8.1l v8
The Excursion frame suspension is NOT the same as the F250. Ford, in all their idiocy, lowered the ride height to appeal to soccer moms trying to park this in their garage.
@@captainamericaamerica8090 I have an 03 and 05. They have lower stance and smaller braking system than my 06 F250. Leaf springs also on the 05, which suck.
You can still buy them used or some people are selling them on apps like Facebook Marketplace for OfferUp and you can find some for anywhere from $1,500 to $10,000 if you're buying it off a person but if you're buying get off like a legit car dealership you going to have to pay around $10,000 to $15,000 but you rather buy it off of somebody because repairs for the Ford Excursion that are not expensive

I have twin excursions, one v10 and one 7.3. Both are estate green and limited. They have slightly different wheels and tires but overall, they match. This video slams someone elses idea of the perfect ex,,, The original ex's ride and drive like a dream, pull like a bull, and look great.
We have both too. We like the V10, more. It's quieter easier to work on, no smelly diesel fuel, a smoother ride, and plenty of power
@@captainamericaamerica8090 The 6.8L for 1997-2003 is 300 HP/325 lbs of Torque, and the 7.3L is 250 HP/525 lbs of Torque. Not alot of Torque,no Triton at all can overthrow the Torque of a Powerstroke, but Horsepower and being cheap? Yes they can.The 6.8L V10 for 2003-2008 has 362 HP/457 lbs of Torque.
The diesel engines on these trucks can pull a house off its foundation😂😂
good mods on the SUV. They can try adding fender flares and it will make it look even more gangster like. :-)
Oh man. My dream vehicle is a 99' to 03' stock height 7.3 powerstroke excursion with a high/low gear splitter rear end.
I've taken 2001 Excursion cross country twice in three years, great vehicle, only wish I could find some coil-over shocks for it.
These Excursions are no nonsense tanks that will take a beating
this is my littral dream i would rather have this then a pegani
High from Roseburg Oregon
The excursion has its own rear doors, from the backdoors back it’s all unique to the excursion.
I kinda like that rig! Makes for a good "bugout" vehicle.
Might need a small step ladder to get in the back though :)
pdx.trailerguy and a fuel trailer in tow. You’re only “bugging” out until the next fuel station lol
I get about 500-600 miles on 42 gal tank
@@kapulu6259 all excursion tanks are 44.5, gallons
@@captainamericaamerica8090 no mines a 50 gallon
After the excursion was discontinued how come Ford had introduced an extended wheelbase version of the expedition to replace that was built on a less capable 1/2 ton F150 platform
yes, with the deisel you can pull a heavy trailer, a boat, jet skis and a couple few more things
Carly suspension on mine it is great ride
Bring them back!
Mood. With the 7.3l gas engine or the 6.7 powerstroke as the only options
02 triton v10 banks power intake aero exhaust superchips tuned
i might do that to my 01 limited v10 4x4. but i only have 150k and want to get all that break in miles out of it. maybe at 300k
@@bigred3966 bro it’s broken in lmfao what. And that’s barely even modding it lmao your talking about a tune and intake and exhaust
Actually your wrong. The rear 2 doors are not from a f250. The f250s door are shorter. So everything from the FRONT SEATS are similar to f250. Even then the frame is different as well. So overall it's similar but not quite a f250
THE EXCURSIONS HAVE HEAVIER DOORS, LARGER TOO, THE DOORS HAVE IRON CRASH GUARD BARS! INSIDE
The front doors will fit an f250 but the back doors wont. Back doors are different.
Ford needs to forget all the EVs and supposed gas saving eco boost. They need to bring back the Diesel and a 7.3L gas Excursion.
Love it I want to build a bug out truck 😁
11,000 is the max towing with the diesel and 9,200 is max with smaller gas.
I imagine some deer here in the woods saying, "what the hell is that thing?"
It's my dream car
Do you know where they got the mirrors from? I have the same Excursion but stock with the V10. I’d like to upgrade to those mirrors.
Anthony G 2008 and 2017 tow mirrors are popular to swap. They bolt and plug right in. Most guys buy them for fairly cheap on eBay or amazon.
Stephan thanks for the information
It wasn't discontinued until 2006, 06 was only available in Mexico. Please make sure to do actual fact finding
It's not the size of the lift that ruins the ride it's the design.
Love my daily driven 2000 Excursion Limited with the 6.8 V10!
While it lacks fuel economy, it's roomy af and I feel nice n safe driving her.
What's there not to like? Concerned about fuel mileage stick to Corolla or Cavalier
6.0 full tank on the freeway you can almost get 600 miles
Seems the 6.0 with the 5 speed auto is the way to go for best fuel economy lol
@ Driven Companion, do you know the size lift this Excursion had, and the wheel offsets?
recently decided I'm gonna save up and get one of these, diesel version, and turn it into a prep vehicle.
What is these current generation super duty tow Mirrors came from
How do you like those headlights?
Got a mint 2005 4wd limited with a 6.0 no rust
I love your excuse then one day I will own one, the guy that did this review probably drives a Prius, The way he was talking about it and reviewing it. 🤷🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️
I agree especially when he's talking about the suspension like you can tell that he's jerking himself around to make it look bad
Mine is completely stock 7.3 and rides really rough even in the city. Has 276k miles on it. What could be the problem?
@@malakialkins5332 for sure! That's a great point!
Hello friend, I am from Chile and I would like to know if you sell this beautiful truck. Cheers
Hello in Chile. This has already been sold...
I like the truck looking for 1 with 7.3 to collect drive it few times a year
Does it still have the Galmunbalts?
Chill out dude. Why would you be embarrassed to drive around a bad ass suv. What kills me is people like me and my family need these vehicles. I want the power and reliability of a diesel with the tow capacity to boot. An f150 platform can’t do what these HD SUV’s can.
MY GRAND PA HAS' ONE. 2001, WITH A V10, TRITON
Actually, Excursion rear doors are larger than their truck counterparts.
Ride quality can be fixed by not max airing the tires. They’re so full. They look like they’re gonna pop like a balloon. Air down a tad. Have a much better ride quality.
I agree the guy who was reviewing this truck was acting like changing the suspension it's such a bad idea and that it would kill your ride quality when all you need to do is lower your tire pressure
the rear doors are slightly longer
I heard the 6.0 sucks
what tow mirrors are those??
Your "environmental impact" is harldy a drop in a bucket. You can daily drive that and it would still give off less emissions than tayol swifts private jet.
I don't care about people glaring at me I'M an a*sho*e who will laugh at those people. If I ever do get one I am going to put one of those letter strips in the rear window and windshield that says econo box stomper. that way all the Prius drivers will have one more reason to hate on me.
This guy is reviewing the wrong kind of car for his type of person.
Your not the right person for this review- go review a Prius.
Not going to argue with you. But are you sure that's not a 2004?
I borrowed the vehicle from a dealer for the review and thats what they had it advertised as. I didn't double check with the door sticker so its possible.
They’re like a Suburban but for men.
This dealership want to trade for a custom Harley
That air filter is sooo dirty...
A lifted truck shouldn't be punishing. Sounds like he used some cheapo components.
Love my Excursion Owned since new with the 7.3 Check out my walk around on my channel!
Worst audio quality
Bigger than the suburban? Yes. By a lot? Like an inch.
EXCURSIONS ARE WIDER AND TALLER, BY MORE THAN A INCH. THEY ARE ALSO HEAVILY BUILT UP WITH STEEL BARS, IN DOORS, FRAMES ETC.
EXCURSIONS ARE THE BEASTS
He also says they get better towing capacity, I see the excursion only has an 11000 pound towing capacity for the 2005. My 2004 2500 burb has a towing capacity of 12k pounds from the big 8.1l v8
Excursions are 7.4 inches longer and 6 inches taller then a Suburban
If Ford could bring this back with the new Mustang Mach E powertrain,
WINNER WINNER CHICKEN DINNER
You should NOT be embarrassed to drive this! It puts hairs on your chest! Are you a man or a sissy boy!? 💪🏻 or 👨💼
This dude lives in Oregon. Embarrassed? 😂 I think you should take it back wherever you got it from. And don’t try that again. 😂
The Excursion frame suspension is NOT the same as the F250. Ford, in all their idiocy, lowered the ride height to appeal to soccer moms trying to park this in their garage.
Many were built up even heavier than the original 250, with added springs heavier shocks wider wheels etc
@@captainamericaamerica8090 I have an 03 and 05. They have lower stance and smaller braking system than my 06 F250. Leaf springs also on the 05, which suck.
I really want one but dam..... Ford....😢😢😢
