You can swap out the seats for some newer 2011-2016 super duty seats if you really want heated and cooled seats. Use FORScan for the keys. I got some 2011-2014 keys for mine. There are flip options out there on eBay.

Key solution: Keyport slide (if you can find one or wait till the new version is released) with the Keyport fob module thing. You'll have to buy the retrofit remote start/lock controller thing from the company that the Keyport Fob is compatible with but it'll be so worth it.

Great to see a fresh build! I have a 02 X, and here is what we did and recommend for consideration. For engine, hpop oil crossover pipe for better oil regulation #7 and #8 cylinders, fuel rail crossover for better throttle response and boost in fuel pressure if desired. Get a set of gauges, Tran temp (stock one sucks), egt as you need to know how hard you are working the motor for better longevity, and boost gauge (fun obviously). F250 tranny oil cooler will bolt into place and is 2x size and WAY better. Trans is weak spot so keep the heat out. If you stay with leaf, F250 front and Rear, with 2” lift block in back, with dual shocks in front will give you a level ride, 4” of lift from stock (don’t forget to correct pinion angle). There is a different leaf code for the fronts to allow for the weight of a push bumper and winch, which I didn’t do, but get that if you are. We did 20x9 rims with 35” tires. Nailed the stance we wanted and looks good with the power stop drilled and slotted rotors and red calipers. Recommend toyo Open country AT 2 for weight capacity and balance of off-road performance and highway noise. I like the engine sound too but it’s about 85 or so decibels on the highway in the cab (picture riding on a plane) and can be hard to have a conversation with those in back seat. That’s the one complaint I have on mine that I can’t resolve, so let me know if you find a solution. We also did air lift bags in rear for tongue weight and gear weight and level ride. Did mod with lower cradles so not to limit articulation off road and since you already have compressor, that’s a no brainer. Did yachama mega warrior basket with extension for roof rack. Looks great and holds tons of stuff as it’s so massive. Had 8 sets of snow skis / snow boards plus poles on top a couple weeks ago for a ski trip and had all that room left over inside for creature comfort. Anyway, no expert her, just had a lot of fun making my adventure mobile so wanted to share

My dad has a 2002 f250 with the 7.3L lariat and just hit 190,000 miles. Bad ass truck and engine and hearing that one run reminds me of growing up and going on road trips in it.Great choice, only thing I would say is I think a 4" lift would be much in my opinion. If a 2" lift is 4" would go with a 1" instead, you'll make better mpg and keep some of that great visibility you currently have while still giving more ground clearance and better approach angle.

Hey just a few things to consider. I own a 7.3 and just recommend get a security system for the truck. I have had one attempt and one successfully stolen. Get a viper or something else for the truck. With a viper though it has turbo cool down, keyless entry, gps if stollen.
It doesn’t matter what you do but you need something. These trucks are stupid easy to get into and steal.

For rims and tires I recommend BFGoodrich KO2s and Method Race Wheels. The tires are very highly rated all terrain and I can confirm how they good they are. Got me through blizzards in my 2 wheel drive truck with no problems. Method race wheels are very common in overlanders but they look really good and are durable. Although Black Rhino wheels are also cool and might the excursion better

The trans shifting hard into 3rd. I had a 97 with the 7.3, mine was the torque converter.

So I found your channel bc I was wondering what happened to the Ford Excursion. I assumed it was out of production but I wanted to be sure. I recently retired and having driven a sedan my whole life, I was ready to get off road. My last 10 cars have been back and forth between Volvo and Mercedes Benz. I traded my C Class in on the Benz GLB SUV but quickly found it way to small....then after only owning it for 3 weeks I traded that in on a GMC Yukon XL.
