This is how i have been tying this knot for the last 3 years by far best and easiest way to tie it in the field or on a rocking boat. I stop a 14 weaves and have tremendous confidence in the strength of the knot. One tip i can give you is make your leader tag a little longer and hold both the main leader and the tag leader in your hands loosely while tightening the rizutto. This helps the rizutto tighten parallel with the fg and you don't get that little kink in the end. Awesome vid keep it up.
One of the more simpler methods I have seen. I really like the simplicity of the way you twist and wrap the main part of the knot. Great tutorial mate!
U just made a man w neuropathy have some hope for tying this knot. Granted my 12lb leader is my weak point even w an alberto knot, doesn't hurt to learn more. Awesome stuff!
Best video yet that I've seen... And that finish wrap is one that I've used to final wrap bow strings at the end of serving wraps. Fg knots are a bit simpler than making bow strings and they should be... Fishing is suppose to be fun!
Having some problems with this knot. Mostly the hitches for some reason but I enjoy your method a lot. Can’t wait to give it a shot after work. Keep it up.
Cheers mate. You give it a go, practice lots. If you want to try the method with the hitches a lot of people will go 6 alternating over the braid and leader, then trim the leader, then another 6 alternating just on the braid and then the rizutto finish I do here. I just find it's all not really needed, this method here has never given me any grief 👌
very cool way to get those FG. I personally singe the FG with a rizzuto as well, but I like how fast you are doing those FG wraps, starting to pratice right now!
Certainly a different twist (pun intended) on this best knot ever. I was waiting for you to throw a few extra 1/2 hitches using the braid after you cut the flouro just to hide the sharp tag end but hey no biggie. Great job brother
Cheers mate. Never found the need. I have fished this knot extensively with Yellowtail to 100lb, GT to over 100lb, tuna to 200lb and everything else you can imagine with no failures. The only other addition is you could hit the leader end with a lighter or Bouz lighter to bulb it 👌🎣🐟
Fruk me dead I’ve watched 6hundred million channels on how to tie this knot and only ended up frustrated. I watched this once and it all makes sense and finally got it to work thanks 😊
Awesome mate, so glad. It's essentially why I filmed these videos, I found the same with a lot of knot videos. I just wanted them to be easy to understand and follow 👍
Wow. That was amazing. I watched like 30 FG knot videos but this is by far the best method without an electric machine or whatever needed. Just knowledge and practice. Love it. Thanks a lot ! Tomorrow is practice day for this for myself 😬😂
Absolutely Knot 100% I’ve never seen an FG tied this way but I’m gonna try it next time. I hold the braid end in my teeth and the rod with my feet 🤣 It works well but your way looks easier once you get the hang of it
Wow this is the fastest I have ever seen this knot tied. I am going to have to give it a try. Thanks man! I’ll probably go with the half hitch knot instead, but I will try yours first. Cheers 🍻
I was waiting for a half hitch or 2, nice to see a different method. My tag pullers are very similar, I use garden hose on an aluminium rod works a treat, I'm gunna make a couple more out of dowel and garden hose.
This method with the rizzuto finish is the least smooth and streamlined going through the guides becaause the end of the leader is left exposed creating a big bump. Other methods use hitches tied in the braid adjacent to the end of the leader to create a smoother transition.
@@araldf Sorry I watched so many different vids I cant remember which ones. I'd always recommend watching multiple instructional vids with knots because of how much interpretation and variation there is.

Wow this is a great looking method. Coming from bass fishing in the US your line diameter is enormous so I wonder how well this will transfer to tying with 8-20lb flouro
12lb fluoro is very thin, you'd probably be better off with a different knot such as a double uni. The FG is for joining thinner braid to much, MUCH heavier mono (like 40lb braid to 80lb mono).
Thank you so much for this clear video instruction on how to tie this useful knot, one that I have been struggling with. I especially appreciate the Rizutto finish. However, I have one question - wouldn't it be better to tighten the main knot first, and then the Rizutto? It appears to me that you are trying to tighten the main knot through the previously tightened Rizutto...

Hi mate, the fg, is not the be all and end all. I truly do think this is by far the easiest way to tie it, but if it's not working for you there's nothing wrong with a well tied uni to uni or Alberto knot 👍
With this method I find it best to tension the rizutto first so the wraps have something to tighten up against. Another variation would be to tie one half hitch, then tighten the wraps and then tie a rizutto up against the half hitch 👍
