Patrick, these are great historic compilations. It's so nice to wallow in this fabulous nostalgia. Im a retired Brit living near Barcelona and used to love it in the early 2000's when El Prat had it's second parallel runway. You could stand over the back and always tell when a TU-154 was approching by the distinctive smoke trails from the Kuznetsov engines. Happy days
They’re still around, those old type IL76s. They’re just too rare! Occasionally one visits Eindhoven Airport (NL) but of course, I can never make that…
@@pjotrtje0NL one has to be extremely lucky ( Soloviov BANNED from 2002 onward over here ) , PS90 versions visited Ostend a few times as well in later years , sounds less powerful 😄 , but always still nice to see if the rare opportunity arises , the big fan engine do not spoil the general classic appearance , vulture in the sky 🙃
...so wondering why are there often a number of IL-76s seen in various videos from Ostend? Sometimes I'll see the tails of a half dozen or so on the ramp in the background.
trying to earn some money after the collapse of the USSR , stiff competition against the 707"s , flying cheaper , both designs terminated operating to and from Ostend , early 2002 , due to noise regulations , end of an era of fabulous sounds , still the DC-8 with JT3D engines soldiered on till 2010 , loved it !!
Patrick love these Russian choir singers the old song from their past as good as it gets. Competition for any new aircraft from Russia or the west. Great video keep up the hard work and catch you on your next video.
@@mareilleward8670 , just this 2002 and 2001 only 😃 600 IL 76 movements a year , the fun ended 2002 , just as the JT3D 707 sounds , those were the best years

The scream of those Russian jet engines is something I miss. The Il-76 is a fantastic looking - and sounding aircraft!

Also, 1981, they must have been recording with VCR tape cassette
Russians have such a Herculean way of building and designing aircraft, at least back then they did,
indeed , disaster today , the Soviet designers from the past must be turning in their graves😔
Mireille,
Very impressive, like the Antonovs...
Russian planes, real beasts in the sky! And
Mireille, And the sound of the engines, love it. Gives me a real high 😂

Ilyushin 😉 , melodic singing approach sound until all hell breaks loose during touchdown and trust reverse , even on 2 engines only !
