Throw away all the manuals…don’t waste time with others videos…this is the one we needed to operate and our new LG high tech washer and dryer. Warm, wonderful, informative, with a preview look at what happens from start to finish. We have a new favorite tv personality. I’m telling our salesman to put this link on every sale. Thanks Sophia…best product demo ever!

I have to tell you that this is one of the most wonderful and comprehensive reviews I have ever watched! Thank you so much! I just had my LG washer and dryer installed a couple of days ago, and they replaced a GE set that I had had for 19 and half years. I was feeling so intimidated and overwhelmed with all the settings on the new machines that I still had not used them. To add to the matter, the manuals are so thick and I just didn't have the energy to read them, all while watching my laundry pile up.
I had come across this video before, and was appreciative of your level of coverage of the machines. Thankfully, I believe God led me to it again. I can't tell you how relieved and excited I am all over again, and I am actually looking forward to using my new machines for the first time tomorrow! Your review is WONDERFUL and again, I thank you.
Have a very blessed day, and keep up the great work!

I wanted to say how excellent of a review this was. You say you are not a ‘pro’ but what I was looking for was a common sense walkthrough of how both units worked as well as some ‘real life’ suggestions and that’s exactly what you did. Thank you SO much for taking the time! I have yet to do my 1st wash with my new duo and this helped immensely:)

I think you did an excellent job reviewing and demoing this product. We just purchased the WT7800 model set based on excellent reviews from CR. My wife typically does the washing and she's not big on learning new stuff (apparently, that's my job). She'd rather ask me 20 questions, again and again and...God Bless Her, that's my girl. Anyway, having her watch your video has been very, very helpful for both of us. Great Job!

I purchased this washer recently and it was just delivered yesterday. So time will tell how it works out. This is my first top loader. I've previously owned two front loaders which both developed a mold issue over time so I decided to give a top loader a try. My washer doesn't have that squeaking noise heard in the video so it's probably unbalanced. Great video....a really thorough review of this product!

@@Nintendude2013 I love it! The clothes have to be loaded into it a particular way (see owners manual); the washer shouldn't be overloaded or it may cause damage to it; and it uses more water than the front loaders; it's pretty quiet; and it spins most of the water out of clothes which means less time in the dryer! The clothes come out smelling clean & fresh. I'm very happy with this purchase and highly recommend!!

I'm very glad that you have such nice new machines to help with all the laundry of a family of 4. That puts the finishing touches to your laundry room. I've had my Maytag heavy duty washer and dryer for over 22 years and have never had a old or musty or any kind of smell in my clean clothes because I always leave the lid open to let the inside dry. I do see that the machine uses less water which is good, but my machine takes less than 25 minutes to wash a huge load and it would drive me nuts waiting for over an hour for it to finish. I throw a load in and get it done and throw it in the dryer and it is dry in about 20 minutes unless it is a big load of towels which take longer.

I just bought a machine similar to this one , same brand and I feel like I waste so much time because I was used to my older machine ending in less than a hour. The dryer is even worse, it doesn't dry my clothes in one cycle and I have to always check for dryness...I hate it. My old dryer dried everything I added to the low cycle now I can't even bother to use the low setting unless it's just for just like 3 items. I rather use the older styles.

Interesting. As you know Sophia, top loaders are very rare this side of the pond (pretty much died out by the 80's), so it was intriging to see the difference. After being married for 28 years, we finally bought our first new set. When we were first married it was a military thing, then teacher husband was the only income so I could be a stay at home mom. So purchasing used was just one of the things we did so I didn't have to go to work. When this last year we needed to replace, we went through Costco and purchased a Samsung dual washer and dual dryer and, small wash and flat dryer on top. It feels so luxurious! I relate to the thrill of it all. Thanks for all your awesome video's!!!

I don't think people realized the stainless steel tub has some kind of circles scrubbing all around it so that probably how these clothes clean along with the impeller. I also glad you show how to even out your clothes, usually people just dump it all in one heave but not you so that definitely educating. Explaining the different features definitely grateful. I love the Door feature from the dryer two ways and opposite.

    Greetings 🙋‍♀️from LA,
Thank you so much for your demo video, "My Great Challenge"
Just got mine yesterday, still learning the cycles.
    Love the big tub,
    no mold smell anymore,
not happy with the owner's manual on explaining as the old models used to on each cycle designed to different types of fabric and soil levels.
We had our front loaded for 13 years, was one of the first models when they came out.
Was happy with it, the only issues were the mold and smell of dirt, and leaning down causing back pain.
I'll keep learning for another week.
Blessings unto you and your family 🙏🌺

Me too. I do have a 'baby' tumble dryer, but rarely use it other than to soften dry towels, or make sure everything is fully aired in winter. I dry outside, or on my 'Sheila Maid' (pulley airer) and clothes horses. If you fold things carefully it drastically reduces the dreaded ironing that's for sure!

It's a decent washer. I've had mine about 2 yrs and still runs good. Only draw back I dont like is the low water level. I usually run it on Bedding cycle most the time. That has the highest water level setting. The bleach dispenser is bit crappy, it leaves bit of bleach residue once emptied. Also some settings take way over an hour for the cycle. Overall I give it an 8 out of 10.

I just want a washer that I can throw in the clothes, add soap, turn it on, come back when it's finished. Does anyone still make a mechanical, as opposed to digital, washer? I don't want to program a washing machine 10 different ways. All the mechanical washers I've had cleaned the clothes and lasted for years. If they needed to be repaired, any washing machine repairman could fix them. I didn't need an extended warranty. The one guarantee you can count on, is: the more electronics there are, the more problems will occur.

Tip for anyone who has an HE washer MEASURE and FOLLOW the instructions according to the detergent your using based on the load size because although this was a great review she used waay too much detergent for the small load size so you dont want to fill the detergent to the max like she did without measuring it or your washer will not properly rinse the dirty soap out of the clothes and will leave your clothes with soap residue and eventually will cause your washer to build up with soap scum alot of people think using a ton of detergent cleans better when in fact it can do the opposite do to improper rinsing I cant stress enough to people with HE machines to follow the detergent instructions alot of us have a really bad habbit of using too much soap when doing laundry and wonder why certain detergents give us bad skin reactions less is more just follow the directions on the bottle. I know this from experience because i use to use waaaay to much soap and one day i experimented with some really soiled stained work clothes and for the first time in my life i followed the directions on my detergent bottle thinking it wasnt gonna be enough but let me tell you that was the best my clothes ever came out and after doing research on it i found out why my clothes cleaned much better because my washer finally had a chance to thoroughly rinse all that dirt away instead of it sticking to the fibers in my clothing do to the over use of detergent. Im telling you try it it seems when you go bt the directions it doesn't look like enough soap but trust me it is i never would have believed it until i tried it myself they put those measurements on the bottle for a reason and if the bottle says 42 loads you can actually get 42 loads out of it by sticking to the instructions.

Very interesting to see this! I’m from Northern Europe and here we have both front and top loaders - though our top loaders are quite different. The part where you put your clothes in is lifted on its side and there is a two part hatch on the perimeter. I have a front loader, have had a couple of years and it has the same kind of squeak every now and then. In my machine it’s because of the rubber seal and that’s ok. But of course it can be something else too. And one more thing, here because of saving water the run times are really long. For 60 degrees Celsius, I think that’s hot in US, the normal program takes 3 hours. The shorter version in my machine is 2 hours 40 mins. You need to plan when you put your machine on...

@@AmberClay there's a washing machine cleaner you can find it in the detergent aile at the store is powder and pour it in and set on cleaning cycle.
But before this take out carefully the detergent /fabric softener tray and clean it in your sink with a brush and clean inside the compartment because that creates a slime that starts making your washer smell very bad. Once clean place back inside the washer. For really good results do this at least every 2 months. Also, clean the tub with a brush all around because it starts building residue on the tub. With a rag and some antibacterial cleaner clean the rim around the tub on the top. Once you clean all this then at the end add the cleaner I speak about in the beginning and let the cleaning cycle run. And that's it. I hope this helps

So, I asked if the Normal cycle fills the tub with water because mine only sprays and spins. Resulting in the dark clothes are full of lint. All the other cycles fill the tub to rinse which is Normal but the Normal cycle is the only one that does not. Your video doesn't show the rinse cycle filling the tub, so I guess all of the LG washers do not fill the tub in the Normal cycle. Does anyone have this problem.

Hope you have better luck with your machines, as I said before we had the Whirlpool Cabrio no sooner paid off and the washer broke, well after a week of playing with it the repair guy said it was the motherboard, cost 400-600, well that wasn't happening. We now have Maytags, not as fancy but ok, would love to have an old Sears Kenmore for the 70's now they washed clothes clean. Very smart getting the extended warranty!! Best of luck they are really cool. I love the glass top washer.

I recently purchased the Samsung that is VERY similar to look and functions as your LG and I love it. I do not find it to be noisy at all, but then I haven't really paid it any attention. I am very grateful for the end music which is something my old washer lacked.

We got a new set last March. They are Electrolux. I don't hear them until the click when the doors unlock at the end of the cycles. The basic wash/dry cycle are 46min and then if I add the stain soak or hot water or sanitize, etc they go up in time to over 2hr if I want for a wash. There's also a 15min quick-wash. I was also enjoying how everything was So Fresh I wanted to wash my Whole Closet! I did re-do all the bedding asap. So nice to do the Big things At Home! I do hang dry my 1st load while washing/drying the 2nd load. That's all I ever need to do, just 2 loads. The machines are so big! I don't really like the pods in there, but I get them for the teens to use on weekends & that really helps! We were going back & forth about the extra store warranty and decided 'no', then the store went out of business 1 week later! Oh my....didn't see that coming...I didn't know you had to leave your lid up too? My door is open about 100% of the time! That's different, but probably the 'best' idea for the old models too! HappyFresh! ; )

Thank you for your very informative video. My washer and dryer were delivered this week and honestly, my first few loads were intimidating. Lots of buttons and choices. Your video helped a lot. I am thrilled to hear that the door can be changed to open the opposite direction than it does now. I wish we could email you directly if I have any questions.

Hi we just got our set the other day I find that when drying my clothes are still damp even though my settings seem right. It’s weird to me that with a sensor I should t have to be restarting the dryer again to finish one load. I’ve only done 2 loads so far and I had to restart again for more time on both. Do you have any suggestions? Thank you

Congrats on your brand new W&D! I have the LG front loaders. I always leave the washer door all the way open for a few hours then I close it but leave it cracked. I’ve never had a mold/mildew issue. Also, when I do the tub clean I use Affresh cleaning tablets. Check them out!

What a great review, thank you. I purchased the exact same dryer a few weeks ago, and even though my washer still works I couldn't stand have a washer and dryer that didn't match. So my new matching washer will arrive on Friday. Saving the current working washer for the kids in case they ever move out!

My mom has the same one but the panel is on the front of the machine. My father showed me how it worked and I stood there just watching it in action. When the final spin came, my father kept asking me "How many minutes left?" I said "Six minutes" Then he kept asking me "Is it done yet?" But overall it's a great machine and it's kind of cute when it does the jingle when it's done.

I just bought this pair, I had a similar machine before and it worked fine for like 10 years. You can get more features for the same price in the front loader but then 2 pedestals cost like $600 in addition to the machine cost.
I would consider using even less detergent, i use about as much as you would see in those laundry pods and it still seems fine .. the only thing is my whites aren't very white but I'm not using any bleach so ..

I’ve got an LG direct drive washer and it is an absolute workhorse. I bought it to replace a brand new washer I had that was a pos from the very beginning. The LG is soooo much better. One of the coolest things is that I can pause it during the wash cycle and it will pick back up where I paused it at. That shouldn’t be revolutionary, but to me it was. The machine I had before the LG was just awful and would start wherever it felt like after I paused it.

Congratulations on your new machines. It feels so good to finally get something new when you've had old and inefficient for so long! The only thing I would recommend is having that squeaking checked out. My daughter has the same machines and, except for the soft sound of water, you can hardly hear them when they're running. They definitely shouldn't squeak like that. Have it checked out in case something's wrong so you don't damage the machine. Happy Washing!!

You did a great job with this demonstration. Please , since you have bumper to bumper coverage consider having a professional repair person look and listen to your washer. The squeaking noise for that long and that loud for a brand new machine is unusual. It could be it needs lubrication . Congrats on the new additions

Thanks for your vid! Very helpful. I got an LG similar to yours in the last week. The issues I have are not being able to set the water level, because it's always too low. Blankets and sheets do not get moved around enough in water to get washed. Just watched a sheet set washing and the center of it never got pulled into the water, at all.

Great review and very thorough!! I have an LG set but my washer is the front loader and I am extremely happy with them, I've had mine since February and bought ours from Sam's Club. What impresses me the most about the dryer is how fast it tries towels - I've dried 10 bath towels, 5 hand towels and 3 wash cloths in 59 minutes, compared to my old GE it would of taken me ALL DAY. Our washer is in the basement as well but it's not noisy - at any rate I LOVE mine!!

Congratulations! Nothing like getting new toys. I'm like you...it's the little things that make me happiest (like the song at the end of cycle). Just an FYI... If you chose the dryness level instead of timed dry you may find that your clothes may be dry in 20 mins. My dryer never runs for 40 mins and the contents are completely dry. Try it out and see what you think. Love all your videos. Keep em comin. Take care 😊❤️👍

HI Sophia I have a similar HE washing machine but it's a whirlpool. You can just throw the laundry in there and the machine will balance on it's own. As long as you evenly distribute. For example don't load jeans all on one side and socks etc on the other. Other than that you can just toss them right in. 😊🌸 I love the lil load done tune on yours. Mine just does the beep 🤷‍♀️ Great review!!

  • @TinyHouseBigMusic

We have an LG direct drive washer, and we LOVE it. Ours is about 4 years old now...no issues! We don't even worry about evenly distributing our clothes in the washer before starting it, unless we are washing pillows or somethin bulky. Ours has never squeaked like yours?? Perhaps that will work itself out with time? Ours sings the same tune when finished...I love it. :)

I hope your top loader works well. We got a direct drive front loader LG, and the main bearing wore out in less than three years. It was going to cost a minimum of $600 to repair it. It also stopped using the correct water temperature. It put hot water in a cold water cycle and shrank a bunch of our clothes. Apparently, those are common problems with that machine. So, we ended up replacing it with a Samsung top loader, which works much better.

These are great machines, my daughter has them. The one major thing to consider is this... I am 5'4 and have short arms, I did a load in her machine but had to wait for her to get home to unload the clothes that I could not reach on the bottom!! Thankful I didn't buy a top loader like this when my older set died. I went with the front loader!!
