As a Wave Race 64 speedrunner, I can say there is likely some small remastering done to the overall feel and play of the Shindou version of the game that makes it play better than the original 1.0 JP and US versions. All of the top IL players use the Shindou version and it is the best version for RTA as you pointed out the load time differences in your video. I appreciate the spotlight on these two awesome games and the very well made video SSFF :)
So basically your saying Waverace 64 Shindou, is the better version between the two, and Mario 64 Shindou, is worse mainly for speedrunners so all round being worse overall despite the rumbling helping you not get cramped up which would help speedrunning ironically.
A year and a half after this video was uploaded, the Shindou version of SM64 is getting rereleased in 3D All Stars. Really interesting that the West is getting the Shindou version this time.
What if Totaka's Song is actually hidden in Shindou Wave Race, but is played by the Rumble Pak's vibrations? Also, shout out to that quality pun in the description.

Dimensiom I honestly don’t mind the extra weight myself; in fact, because I only put it in for games that support it (which I started doing because of my suspicion that it drained the batteries anyway), it’s kinda jarring when I use an N64 controller without a rumble pak inserted after I used it with it.

Thanks for teaching everyone about the beautiful rumble re-releases of these n64 classics!!! While Shindou's legacy in Mario 64 speedrunning is dead it lives on in the modern Wave Race 64 speedrunning community, the Shindou version is the fastest legal version for championship speedruns and also the most popular in the time trial community due to the ghost and improved handling of console slowdown/shorter load times.
