I only knew about these back in the day after a virtual console style Pokemon Mini was included within Pokemon Channel. These look really neat.

On the note of Doom, I bet it's gonna happen, at least in the Ti graphing calculator sense (where it's more like Wolf3D instead). I mean, just a short while ago a dude made a port of Doom to support portrait displays so... it's definitely not out of the question that someone else might give it a bash. Weird Doom ports are still very much alive and well. c:
I loved this stupid dumb little console, and I'm still pissed I lost mine on a hiking trip... still got two of the cartridges lying around, clinging to the vain hope that maybe, some day I'll actually go out and buy a replacement.
I would take the plunge sooner rather than later, retro game devices are just going to continue to get more and more expensive

I lost my ds and it was in a small zip up case with all the games inside too so i never replaced it because i lost all the games too if id had the console on its own would probably hav got amother but cause all the games got lost too i just sort of couldnt afford to buy the whole package again i was gutted lol had it in my jacket pocket while riding my motorbike and it fell out i traced my route back to look for it but it was alredy gone sadly :( someome had a lucky day that day lol was about 10 games in there they were so small they all fitted in the case with it even tho it was only designed for the console on its own they sat behind it nicely sad times lol
Wooper blue seemed to be the most inexpensive last time I checked! They were going for ~$100 a couple months ago!

The pokewalker was an accesorry so there's not much to talk about it (I got it recently and it's really fun, but there's really not much to it)

I remember seeing an ad for this in a gaming magazine when I was veeery little, to think there's a modding community and seeing stuff like the Shizzle tech demo for the Pokemon Mini so many years later is absolutely mindblowing

It’d have been neat if these games were ported to DSi.

Retroarch apparently has (or had) a Pokemon Mini emulation core.
Could have sworn it could have been a stand in for some of the game boy color ir port functions. Such as mystery gift for pokemon gold silver crystal and card pop for pokemon tcg. I feel like I remember the marketing for that when the thing came out.
“Revelation Lugia” is a reference to the Japanese title of the second movie, hence the card combination with the birds.

I honestly had no idea about this thing's existence when it came out, and I saw commercials for pretty much every weird Nintendo and/or Pokemon thing released during that time. Did they seriously not advertise it at all?

Someone put Doom on a pregnancy test, I’m sure that port would work on the mini.
Considering Doom has been ported to a TI calculator, this thing can definitely run it. As John Carmack said, if it has a processor, it can run Doom.
Or at the very least, it seems like a Faceball port would be doable. It might even be possible for head-to-head, since the movement is so slow.
TI Doom is more of a demake than a port (unless you're referring to the more powerful TI Nspire), but something like that or Faceball would still be cool.
this system has all the buttons you need to play Mega Man 2, and that fact makes me want to learn how to code assembly for this thing

Back when these were out, I assumed that the Pokemon Mini was a Tamogatchi clone, and passed on it (not that I had spending money at that age). I *really* wish I had one with the Tetris clone.
If you have too much spending money you can buy them these days still. Though Tetris in particular is expensive if you want it boxed and in english. They're at least somewhat less rare in japanese and import shouldn't break bank either.

I started watching this channel a few months back. It's great too see a gaming RUclipsr who doesn't randomly shouts and screams which basically makes me hate such person straight away. It doesn't bring anything to the table and is EXTREMELY ANNOYING!

I always have this weird feeling when I dust off old hardware. Like visiting abandoned warehouse. Still functional, but past it's prime. Holding a lot of history, even if it's on the brink of collapse.

The Pokémon mini games on the Pokémon Channel disc are the ultimate deep dive if you ask me.

Damn Derek. I was really trying to watch this later but my thumb resisted my hesitation and just clicked the video. You are one of few RUclipsrs that I have to watch lol.
So glad I got to see the multiplayer! I had (possibly still have(?)) a mini but I was the only person that I knew of that did - they were never popular here in Australia as far as I'm aware. But the pack in game was a lot of fun and I have some fond memories playing the chancey soccer game, difficult but fun. Thanks for the video :D

I had one of these things as a kid and I loved it!
My best memory of this however is when I learned about the 11:11 wishing myth and you could set alarms with this device. So had an alarm for both 11:11s which meant in the middle of every night a loud jingle would play for my family to hear.

I just had my FunKey S arrive a few days ago after ordering one what feels like a trillion years ago, and despite this Pokemon Mini being small, it looks positively chunky in comparison. Playing Resident Evil 1 on a screen that is legit the size of a postage stamp all while still being totally legible is insane. The future might suck for the most part, but at least I can still buy a novelty super tiny video game system.

My nephues (5&8) love the retro stuff. The 8 yearold actually has an SNES, super gameboy and GBA.
And they both have digimon, as well as other lcd games and virtual pets.
I would love if they re-released the pokemon mini, I would buy them one each for sure!

I've had my Smoochum purple Mini since launch- I got it from the Pokémon Center in New York while on vacation! (not to mention my Groudon edition SP)
I still play Zany Cards in doctors' waiting rooms these days, it's a wonderful little handheld with genuinely fun quick games.
It's something I really cherish.
