Hell yeah Derek! Get that bread!
Love that intro. Idk why.
Ngage $
Just wanted to let everyone know that world of tanks is an awesome game. And just because it’s free to play, and is being advertised in a sponsored segment of a RUclips video, it’s not at all like raid shadow legends. Not only is WoT an actual game, it’s really good.
I made a bunch of videos on some the titles that were not officially released for ngage but for symbianos. Some of them are really impressive. Some neat 3d games and some cool homebrew level games. As well as the games created specific for the ngage.
Feel free to use any of it. My video quality sucks though.
"To master the N.Gage you must defeat me: John Romero's port of Red Faction!"

Civvie needs to review it even as a joke.
Shadowkey's combat is based on Morrowind's combat. It runs on a dice-roll system, so not all of your attacks are going to land. The likelihood of landing hits is based on stamina, your character's levels, and whether the weapon you use is appropriate for your build. And at low levels it's just a bit of a swing-fest.
"a bit of a swing-fest" is quite the understatement. If you're unlucky you can be swinging without doing damage for quite a while lol
When I first got morrowind I didn't like it because I thought the hit detection was broke
@@Draggobuttboi one of the first things I remember in morrowind is the bound item cheat glitch where you duplicate the effect bonus buff and essentially max out a stat so you could never miss if it was a weapon Stat.
That being said I don't think I would be so into morrowind without that glitch because yeah that shit sucks
@@ZalYagunRyai I first played Morrowind on the Xbox when I was too young to understand the rng behind the combat. My solution was to only use summons and on touch destruction spells. Worked out for the most part.
@@Draggobuttboi Same here, as someone who started with Oblivion going backwards to Morrorwind felt off because I didn't really like the feel of the combat, and unless you choose a very specific set of stuff at the start your character's starting speed is so damn slow. It's one of those games I really want to like because I've heard non-stop for years people singing its praises, but man I guess I made the mistake of not playing it when it was new, because without any nostalgia for it I just find it so clunky (meanwhile I do have nostalgia for old Tomb Raider so despite the controls having not aged very well I can still play them thanks to my old muscle memory returning when I play 'em).
Every time i see Derek throw his arms up when he says "I'M DEREK" i have a mini heart attack thinking he is falling off his chair!
I don’t need to go to the casino, because I gamble with my life in every video!!!
He's just debating to do a trust fall every time.
Bet he's got a seatbelt on his chair
He should lay down a bunch of pillows and clear the area just so he can fall over once.
@@StopSkeletonsFromFighting Admitting that you have a problem is the first step towards recovery.
You don't need to lie, you're with people who care about you...

You have played a lot of Sonic lately.

I will absolutely never understand why Premiere would bake that into the footage.
Like just put a fucking banner over it in the application, why the hell would you want to render that out?
@@ChrisLDGK yeah, I've always found that strange too. I've used Warp Stabilizer plenty of times and I have to be careful to make sure this doesn't happen.
It's been years and Adobe still hasn't fixed this. I remember seeing a similar banner in red in one of the Tom Scott videos and that video didn't even use any stabilization but still.
@@ChrisLDGK It's so everyone in my sophomore college film class know I am a failure. Very useful feature. WATCH YOUR DAMN EXPORTS GUYS (not you SSFF, y'all are doin great C: )

I wanna see you review Metal Gear Mobile. Not only can you use the camera to create camo patterns; it's a semi-canon prequel to 2.
I need to get something that can run N-Gage 2.0! Which I might have to do!
I didn't expect to see you here.
Probably a common thing to say at this point by anyone. Meh, still going to say it.
i desperately tried to emulate that at some point, it's about one of the few metal gears i've yet to play
Holy shit if that's not Punching Weight I don't know what is lol
I love metal gear 2 and 3 :) i did try one of the newer ones with the diamond dogs in and it was pretty poor to be honest too much waiting for stuff to unlock and other strange mechanics that didnt make it fun to play i never completed that one cos it just wasnt fun enuf

I am so sad RE4 didn't come to the N-Gage. We were robbed of a blessing 🖤
Technically, it did. They made a port of Re4 for Symbian v3, which is the same version as N-Gage,
@@Vishnu_Karthik There is a Resident Evil game for Ngage 2.0 but is not a port of RE4, is an original game. And also, Symbian v3 is way more advanced than the original Ngage version of symbian.
@@Vishnu_Karthik N-Gage is not based on Symbian v3. Its actually Symbian v1 with looser restrictions. Thats why when it was discovered how to run nGage games in other Symbian phones, not all games are playable because the other Symbian phones lack the specs to run it like RAM/Memory.
Ok I am going to buy a Ngage for Ashen
Coucou punky
Hello

Buy an Ngage for Ashen and then send it to Ashens
@Lassi Kinnunen 81 Yeah I only had 2 n-gage games, so I spent a lot of time playing the Zelda gameboy games via emulator.

Not to add to your workload, but I would love to see you talk about the Doom RPG games, I missed out of them cause I didn't have a phonethat would run em and now they seem scrubbed from the web!
Psst, you can actually find them if you dig a bit for them, some sites from back then are still up and with working download links.
For emulating them on Android look for J2ME Loader on the play store.
@@axelprino where?? Last I looked I just got some ultra sketchy places!
@@jacklindsey8400 welp, you kinda need to use some sketchy looking sites. I just tried googling "Doom RPG 320 x 240" now and managed to find a working jar file at second try (the first one worked fine but was in Russian).
Just make sure you're downloading a ".jar" file that's a bit over 300kb for Doom 1. They're probably a tad larger for the other games in the series but a J2ME game is rarely over 2mb, usually under 1mb.
Doom RPG was a lot of fun at the time.
@@axelprino
Is it on the Internet Archive?
Oh yeah... Inject that Shadowkey coverage right into my veins.
Edit- Also Shadowkey was *not* the first Multiplayer Elder Scrolls game, Battlespire was.
Forgetting Battlespire is the normal healthy thing to do.
Can i get some horse with that shadow please

Interesting editing choice, my guy
Made me laugh. editing is hard
I kept trying to figure out what the joke was. Took me too long to figure out it was just a mistake.
It's scary just how ahead of the time the Ngage was , which made it all the more sad that it was a flop .
Much like Sega
Yeah.
"who plays Tony Hawk in silence" funny thing is, in my childhood I had a bootleg copy of THPS with all 4 games on 1 CD, so I had no choice but to beat them all in silence.
That’s terribly sad!
Good timing, considering the N-Gage 3 was JUST announced at Summer Game Fest!
I cant believe it has Elden Ring as an exclusive! N-Gage bros we can't stop winning!
Wot
is that legit?
Couldn’t believe that legendary announcement
Got Skyrim on it yet?
SSX, Ashen, X-Men, and Pocket Kingdom were pure bliss for me back in the N-gage QD days. It felt like the future was in my hands. Good times, good times!
And yeah, give us more of these ngaga videos if you can!
Ah yes, ngaga, my favorite console
Oh god, the tony hawk menu music. I've long associated it with rebeltaxi than the birdman himself, and i feel disgusted and proud.
Yep same here.
That music is etched into my mind forever.
Im stoked to finally see somebody on RUclips appreciate Ashen. I remember buying it new for £35 when I was around 13. It’s such an atmospheric game, proper Quake, Unreal vibes. Among the most esoteric of all hidden gems
Ashen is amazing.
the fact this stupid little thing had tomb raider on it gave me hope as a kid that one day i could just play all my pc games wherever i want instead of watered down ds games, how wrong i was as soon as touch screens became a thing
You can get ps1 games running for the most part decently on a tablet so kinda there just have to fiddle with the audio so there's no popping and it's was surprisingly easy
Maybe that thing I heard rumors of Steam working on can make that dream come true.
@@joshuabrien2970 the point was i kind of wanted essentially a very small laptop with only gamepad buttons on it like a ds only less underpowered
Should look at the " Aya Neo" or the "GPD Win"
@@AleK0451 UMPC tech is getting there. The gpd win 3/max is dope
Speaking of portable Tony Hawk, it blows my mind that Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2
isn't out for the Switch yet. I mean I know it's coming out later this month, but still.
I'm happy that Derek continues to dedicate episodes to the underrated N-Gage console / cellphone, I enjoyed it a lot when I bought it back in the day (QD version), hours of playing on the go, I even saw entire movies on the small screen since back then it was new and compared to the market it was a big screen.
11:32 Duke Nukem on GBA was an original game but you probably knew that already
Oh my gosh you covered the one elder scrolls game that I have been looking for a good video about forever! Shadowkey is the whole reason I want an n gage. Thank you for this video, it has reinvigorated me to continue on hunting for this stuff.
Can't wait to hear Derek talking about Miles High Pinball and Rifts: Promise of power
You caught me in the right mood to appreciate your unique inflection/attitude, and i’d be upset that i didn’t appreciate it sooner if i weren’t appreciating it currently
SSFF is doing God's work, exploring the obscure depths of libraries for obscure consoles like this. Bless you both, and however many editors you work with. Your videos are always nice to find on my subs page.
Dozens of RUclipsrs had covered the N-Gage and the games in it's library way before SSFF released this video. But like, yeah still.
I love the love you have for oddball handheld systems and games. I never know where your next video is going!
Real talk, the best part about this channel is getting to vicariously experience super weird video game things I'd never be able to through these videos. So as long as it doesn't cause you all to miss rent or bills: heck fuckin' yeah I want to see co-op Elder Scrolls on N-Gage.
Man I miss my n-gage. I went to the west coast midnight launch and met the head guy and actually got sent a qd and games for free when it came out as thanks for my support
Props for all the good Timesplitters music!
N. Gage is that one thing I remembering hearing about when it was announced but never really seeing anything about it, so I appreciate these 2 videos uploaded in recent times.
Been waiting so long to see this video! It sounds like a great idea to do more NGage content; as someone who loves handhelds, this is a system that has gone under my radar until recently but one I'd love to learn more about. Would love to hear about the civilizations port, the COD port, Crash Nitro Kart port, the X-Men Legends ports, and the Warhammer 40K game next! Thank you guys so much for this awesome content.
Civilization could use a keypad so it could have some great controls and even modern smart phones have civilization revelations and it works okay with touch controls - turn based games can work work well with touch or keypad controls because they are less taxing and usually have multiple choices for turn actions.
Have u ever seen a gizmondo? I wanted one when they first released but i never managed to get one probly was a good thing i didnt tho cos it flopped and went bankrupt prety soon lol
Uncle Derek You have to do an Episode of Portable Tony Hawk Games i.e. THUG2 Remix for PSP
That John Romero N gage link is so funny. I feel like the guy could just never back the right horse after awhile
Side note: I've always loved how the Punching Weight intro is reminiscent of Street Fighter II.
“Why have a auto run feature?” The next sentence: “my thumbs hurt from using the d pad so much.”
The problem is the auto run *contributed* to that
@@romajimamulo he said he didn’t use it and then complained he used his fingers too much and strained them.
@@itachi1145 you can see in the video that it's turning on unintentionally
These N-Gage videos brought me to your channel! Long time N-Gage fan, thanks for doing this!
I actually love the “frame not analyzed for stabilization” at 7:32 lol. I’m sure that wasn’t intentional but I actually like it being there, it fits the vibe of the ngage.
FIRST ELDEN RING, AND NOW A VIDEO FROM STOP SKELETONS FROM FIGHTING?? this is the best fucking day ever
I don't think it's possible to say how much I love that you timestamp the "Hey I'm Derek It's Me Derek!...
I would love to see the elders scrolls multiplayer!
Morrowind has a multiplayer mod called tes3mp that's honestly the best MP TES experience you can ever get, even over TES Online
@@ori.g4mi I imagine TES Online to be like the Fallout 76 of TES
@@whiteeagle9769
But ESO came out before Fallout 76, but it wasn't the first multiplayer Elder Scrolls game, nor is Shadowkey, that would be The Elder Scrolls Legend: Battlespire.
Battlespire is in the corner crying, now. I hope you're happy, Derek!
Derek is the only guy who can narrate a WoT commercial so engaging that I'd willingly watch it.
As someone who is building his own media archive (including getting original hardware, digital converters, and even reproduction cartridges), I feel your pain, Uncle Derek. Your dedication to purity is most appreciated.
I'd absolutely love to see more n-gage coverage as this is the first ever dive into the experience I've seen, and I've been watching a lot of RUclips. Thanks for this video!
The Nokia N Gage is very underrated and ahead of its time. In 2003, there wasnt any more powerful phone for gaming (considering that some games reach GBA/PS1 graphics), until 2008 with the release of the first Android
No one ever talks about the Ngage. A thorough exploration of the device would be amazing, more Ngage content please :D
Still one of my favorites on RUclips, keep up the good work
15:06 taking you back to the past.... to play the shitty games that suck ass

With all the cool mods and parts you can get for GBA and other retro consoles, I wonder if you could rig up a better screen or at least button membranes. Great vid!
Sipping tea from my SSFF mug while I appreciate the hell out of this video, the distillation of everything I adore about this channel.
I have à N-Gage back in time ^^* thanks for this Nostalgia ^^
I'm so sorry
Don't know how many hours I put into Tomb Raider on the Ngage. Came with my old taco NGage.
Loved the NGage. It was amazing for thr time and I got it just after the revision came out so for a bargain and specs were far better for the money than anything else out there.
Never made calls so no problems with the odd holding
Oh man, great video, and I got a legit chuckle out of the warp stabilizer bar, I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who does that!
Yes, more N-Gage! Do it!
Good vid, thank you for doing these historical excavations ^^
@11:45 I love to reload during battle! There's nothing like the feeling of slamming a long silver bullet into a well greased chamber
13:47 Shadowkey was probably designed like the pre-Oblivion games, Uncle Derek. All attacks have individual dice rolls, thus you don't hit enemies with every swing.
Love the authentic N-gage QD experience where the rubber flaps have all been ripped off, because someone dared to use them more than once.
My first phone was the N-Gage QD. I loved that thing, way ahead of it's time. I mean, it was a disaster, but I loved it.
It had several standout games, such as the first two Asphalt games (which even had music with lyrics) and a fighting game with amazing graphics which I think was called "One".
Honestly that reload was slick.
"Don't want to see more N-Gage videos?" Oh Uncle Derek, I want to see ALL THE N-GAGE VIDEOS!!!!😆😆👍
Shadow Key multiplayer? No turning back now, you gotta live up to your name.
The reason you were missing your melee attacks in Shadowkey, as far as I remember, is that the older Elder Scrolls games (for some reason), had a random chance for you to miss your melee attacks each time.
Yep. Hitiing enemies in early Elder Scrolls games also calculates your stats so you can physically hit something and keep missing because rng hates you and you have bad stats.
It's not for "some reason", it's to emulate pen & paper RPG's & CRPG's. Your attack success is based on a dice roll influenced by your & the enemy's stats. It's also not THAT uncommon in the genre, especially at that time.
@@Cooe. I like some aspects of Pre-Oblivion ES, but if I'm directly in front of an enemy and I swing my sword, that should be a guaranteed hit, its not indicated very well that its a result of your stats
Speaking of the N-Gage, there's a game called Glimmerati that is absolutely superb. It's a top down racing game from Bugbear (Wreckfest, Flatout, Ridge Racer Unbounded) that is an N-Gage exclusive.
I had a lot of fun with the NGAGE back in its day. Once I ran out of native games to play I started exploring Symbiam native games and I absolutely loved playing silly J2ME action games in it, I ran through the entire Splinter Cell java games, the controls made it a great option over other phones in the market for J2ME games.
My only interaction with the N-Gage was in Art Class in about 9th or 10th grade. We had free time that day as it was a half day and the teacher didn't wanna teach for a short class so she let us do whatever. A kid had an N-Gage with Tony Hawk and we spent that entire class playing it.
I'd love to see you cover more N-Gage games, Derek. Keep up the great work. 👍
I've always wanted a N-gage. Gotta love 3D attempts on mobile phones from that era
I will always welcome more Uncle Derek playing some Ngage! A buddy of mine had one and it was terrible! I love these videos!
7:33 Phew! For a second there I was worried the frames wouldn't be analyzed for stabilization upsidedown. I'm glad they were.
this should be an N-GAGEing video!
You playing TimeSplitters music during the Red Faction section makes me so happy
Finally here!
Thank you Daddy Derek, for doing the stupid shit, and inspiring me to embrace my own stupid shit
I can't hear that name without thinking of Derek Savage.
11:21 - Do do do do do - “Hello!”
Your videos are so well made and researched. It deserves more views and likes. 👍
So interesting! Always wanted one of these back in the day. More N-Gage content please!
I still have my N-Gage QD and I love it! Thank you for that video. 🥰
After seeing your original N-Gage video, I got curious to try out one of the exclusive games for it. So, I started playing Ashen via an emulator. And coincidentally, an online acquaintance recently got a physical N-Gage and had Ashen ready to go, so he ended up joining me.
Never in my life would I have thought I would play an N-Gage game with someone else and frequently talk about our progress and experience.
Yeah, I definitely agree about Tomb Raider 1's controls. I tried playing the PS1 version and couldn't get past the first level because it was so frustrating. Tank controls should not be allowed in a game that requires so much precision platforming, or at the very least they should allow an option to map camera rotation to the shoulder buttons like a lot of PS1 games did (Megaman Legends and Toy Story 2, specifically)
u guys r Killing it lately
How do you not have more subs. Your channel is amazing!
9:35 I love that you couldn't get through that without laughing :D
I played THPS on the Ngage QD SOOOOO much, like SO much... so many hours and commutes to work and stuffs with that beauty. I think I still have my QD around and side loaded every single game available.
I adore my little N-Gage QD. My favourite game on it is The Sims: Bustin Out. Yes, it's a GBA port but it uniquely has an in-game mobile phone with its own mobile phone games that you can collect and play on it. Magic. The other wonderful thing about the N-Gage that is rarely mentioned is that it is fully compatible with thousands of J2ME/Symbian games which are much nicer to play with the D-pad and buttons than they are on other phones of its time.
10:50 "I was extremely whelmed, it was a whelming experience."
Imma need to steal that, thanks
14:14 actually the first elder scrolls to have multiplayer is battlespire from 1997
I'm down for more N-Gage. Never looked into the system much but was always fascinated by a pre-PSP, pre-DS 3D handheld thing.
I always liked the features of the N-Gage and was actually interested in one at the time. It was very ahead of its time. In retrospect, if they cut down the cost and managed to create a library of premium games I think it would've done better.
I LOVE the N-Gage videos!! Lovin these!!
Something funky happened at 7:31
I am so glad Ashen was mentioned. I picked up a lot of review carts for the N-Gage a while back and it's probably the best game I've played on the console so far!
Speaking as an official Nokia N*Gage QD owner, i demand some Elder Scrolls multiplayer action!
Great and fun video, keep up the good work👏
Catching up on summer game fest but Derek & Grace release a new video? Well, everything else can wait. Excellent content as always guys!
Thank you so much for fixing your pronunciation! Super happy :)
