The reason it's limited release is that it'll make it more special for Mario's 35th anniversary. I don't see why them making it a limited release is a bad and evil thing. I'm glad that we have the all-star collection in general since I never got to play some of the original games before and I'm glad that I have it now, to experience some of the greatest games of all time. I don't think that makes them greedy, the way I see it if they were greedy they wouldn't have made it a limited release and would've ridden the nostalgia train until the end of the switch's lifetime. Also, they gave us 6 months to buy it, so I don't think anyone would suffer since it's plenty of time to purchase it. If you can't even save up $60 in less than 6 months you probably don't even have a switch, to begin with. Let's stop bickering about the 'what ifs' about the situation and appreciate that a whole new generation of gamers would be able to play the games we grew up with, isn't that special enough :)

Microsoft gave a LOT of importance to backwards compatibility to the system. But because of that, the Xbox doesn't have the same love Ps2. Because the Xbox line up just feel like upgrades rather than a new system. PS1 gets less love than such a classic system should, because the PS2 felt like an upgrade. The Wii on the other hand was so drastically different than the Gamecube that people could still keep nostalgia and love for the Gamecube.
You've got something there. Want to play local multiplayer OGXB games? Get multiple discs (for $4 each), stick them in an OGXB, a 360, and a bone, and play. It'll just work. And the discs are totally normal, so it's easy to create backups. Meanwhile in GC land, holy shit you've gotta have some planetary alignment to get optical backups to work. Or even ever so slightly scratched original discs, really.
@SuperLuigiGamer 85 It is normal. The PS2 is the best selling console of all time. Lot of people had it and enjoyed it and moved on. GC didn't sell much, so is normal there is a re appreciation for it from people that didn't play it and loyal Fans who won't shut the fuck up about Nintendo being the best despite never having a console from a different brand.
We didn't have a lot of money growing up, so I was always a generation behind. But I remember getting my Gamecube in 2003 during its prime and damn I loved it so much. I got so much out of it with Metroid, Windwaker, Twilight Princess, Ocarina of Time, Baten Kaitos, Crystal Chronicles, Tales of Symphonia, Resident Evil, both Pokemon games, DBZ Budokai, and of course my all-time favorite GC title... CUSTOM ROBO. I played Custom Robo so much my family stopped calling it a Nintendo and started calling it Custom Robo. Also got to play all my favorite GBA titles on it too, damn those were good times.
I’m happy you were able to get a cube when it was still in its prime! Similar story, I just played on my cousin’s N64 and Gamecube because my family didn’t have that much money growing up either. We voiding get anything during the 6th gen but I’m happy we got a Wii since it can still play Gamecube games
Why GameCube is my favourite console: Pikmin, Pikmin 2, Metroid Prime, Prime 2, Skies of Arcadia, Fire Emblem Path of Radiance, Tales of Symphonia, super Mario Sunshine, Luigis Mansion, Wind Waker, Starfox Assault, Pokemon Coloseum, Pokemon XD, Metal Gear Solid the twin Snakes, Paper Mario TTYD, Resident evil remake, Killer 7, Kirby air ride, Mario kart double dash, Wario world, F-Zero GX, SSB Melee. Probably more that I forgot. Also one of the best controllers ever made for a console. .
My house had a Wii U. But my uncle’s house had a GameCube and Wii. Everytime I went to his house. I rushed up the ladder into the attic to play Wii sport, Mario sunshine and Mariokart double dash. The GameCube felt so fun and colourful to me back then and it still holds a place in my heart as one of my favourite Nintendo consoles ever released.
The Gamecube was the first console me and my brother ever owned ourselves and the console that made me a Sonic fan through the port of Sonic Adventure 2.
I grew up with the PS2 but I always had fun playing Mario Kart Double Dash at my friend's house. It makes me a little sad knowing Gamecube games are so expensive these days.
Some of the most fond memories I've had was playing gamecube with my cousins. I was too young to win at anything but it did not matter because it was pure fun. And there is a special kind of enjoyment just by being a spectator too. Playing and spectating in the gamecube was my childhood.

I was a PS2 kid (still one of my favorite consoles, too), but the GameCube honestly has a huge soft spot in me. It was one of the consoles I *really* wanted before getting the PS2, and it was usually the one I saw so many kids my age have once they graduated from their cousins’/siblings’ N64. So much fun playing games like Melee, Double Dash and Nicktoons Unite!
I love watching Scott gush over something he enjoys. So pure. Also, it's possible to play WarioWare Twisted on the GBA Player. Picking up your Gamecube and shaking it to perform actions in-game works better than it should.
I'm not sure you could say the Gamecube is more remembered fondly than the PS2. Although I never owned a PS2 It was a juggernaut and had many, many widely beloved games. Kingdom Hearts 1 & 2, Ratchet and Klank, Devil May Cry, Dark Cloud 2, Metal Gear Solid 3, ICO, Bully, Katamari, Okami, Shadow of the Colossus, Sly cooper, and I'm sure more. Personally the Gamecube was my favorite but the PS2 had some real solid competition.
ed champagne almost everyone had ps2, gamecubes wrre usually owned by one of your friends, and you'd be lucky if you found some badass kid with an xbox. I see people reminiscing of the ps2 far more than the gamecube, but the gamecube more than the xbox, I've owned ps2 and xbox, my cousin owned a gamecube and I used to play it all the time, but this is based off comments on the Internet that I've seen, more people simply talk about the ps2, cause more owned it. Now n64 vs psx, that's a whole different thing.
Rusty Shackleford I agree with you 100% I owned a Game Cube which I loved and still have, and my little brother had the Playstation 2..I got him Dark Cloud, Jak and Daxter, Spyro, Onimusha, Devil May Cry, etc and God Of War...Playstation had fantastic games.
the gamecube was cherished so deeply in my family that it started with my grandmother- my mother played it, i started out at 5 years old and at least 4 of my cousins still play it to this day. god tier shit scott... god tier shit!!
The Wii U is still pretty good, sure, some games are literal ports (most are), but there are some great exclusives, like Super Mario 3D World. Plus, it popularized a new idea with using a gamepad with a screen as a controller, as well as allowing the use of the gamepad as a TV (Pretty sure the PlayStation Vita can do this as well, to an extent). But getting a Switch is a way better option. I don't even own a Wii U, I just use my friend's Wii U at times.
Lol the Switch is Mostly ports from the WiiU and other systems. And it doesn't even have virtual console to play classic games (The Nintendo online classic game selection is a joke in comparison). The Switch is what the WiiU should have been but hasn't really done anything of it's own game wise yet. Nobody got the WiiU so Nintendo takes advantage of that and tries to pretend the WiiU didn't exist while using it as a backlog to resell games on the Switch.
Metroid Prime 1 and 2 and Twilight Princess were jewels. I still play Twilight Princess on the GameCube. (There's just something special about playing TP on a GameCube controller.) And yes, SSB Melee is absolutely still the best SSB in terms of game physics. In terms of balance and content I do think that Melee was eclipsed by Brawl and its successors, though.
Game physics melee is actually pretty bad compared to smash 4 I mean yes it is faster but half tinge time the physics are broken enough that you can do stuff like wavedashing
I actually prefer the controls of the Wii for Twilight Princess. Many say that sword swinging with motion is awkward but in TP it really isn't. You're not swinging the remote you're just shaking your wrist. Playing TP on the Wii is sort of like having 6 fingers on buttons at all time instead of just 4. The only time where it somewhat is awkward is with target shooting. I would prefer if they implemented something similar on the Switch. Where there is motion control at it's most basic level as in just shaking your wrist. I think when motion controls are that basic they actually make controls easier rather than harder. Though doing that on the Switch does mean you have to mandate people play with the two joycons separately which might not go over too well. However I think it's better that a game just chooses one configuration for the Switch and demand that players use that at all times. It allows you to make a control scheme that works extremely well with that specific configuration instead of one that just works okay with all of them.
If I could, I would sub to u multiple times. I can tell that you work hard on ur videos and I feel as if ur not super recognized. You've never had a big hit but you constantly provided quality content! GL Scott! :D

And the discs are totally normal, so it's easy to create backups. Meanwhile in GC land, holy shit you've gotta have some planetary alignment to get optical backups to work. Or even ever so slightly scratched original discs, really.
Sauce

Also got to play all my favorite GBA titles on it too, damn those were good times.
atlys mod a Wii and get an app called Nintendont on it and you can play it all off a hard drive
I’m happy you were able to get a cube when it was still in its prime! Similar story, I just played on my cousin’s N64 and Gamecube because my family didn’t have that much money growing up either. We voiding get anything during the 6th gen but I’m happy we got a Wii since it can still play Gamecube games

I was a PS2 kid (still one of my favorite consoles, too), but the GameCube honestly has a huge soft spot in me. I'd rather not die by alcohol poison.
Rusty Shackleford They also had a lot of the same games, like Resident Evil 4 and Spider-Man 2.
ed champagne Neither did I, but i grew up with the Wii. ok I'll go away now...
ed champagne almost everyone had ps2, gamecubes wrre usually owned by one of your friends, and you'd be lucky if you found some badass kid with an xbox.
I don't know what you mean
Rusty Shackleford I agree with you 100% I owned a Game Cube which I loved and still have, and my little brother had the Playstation 2..I got him Dark Cloud, Jak and Daxter, Spyro, Onimusha, Devil May Cry, etc and God Of War...Playstation had fantastic games.
the gamecube was cherished so deeply in my family that it started with my grandmother- my mother played it, i started out at 5 years old and at least 4 of my cousins still play it to this day. god tier shit scott... god tier shit!!

(Wii revived gamecube library +more)
(Wii U leeched off the wii)

You are my spirit animal
Literal cardboard box > Wii U
The Wii U was great smh
GAMECUBE IS LOVE,GAMECUBE IS LIFE

Metroid Prime 1 and 2 and Twilight Princess were jewels. I still play Twilight Princess on the GameCube. (There's just something special about playing TP on a GameCube controller.) And yes, SSB Melee is absolutely still the best SSB in terms of game physics. In terms of balance and content I do think that Melee was eclipsed by Brawl and its successors, though.
In terms of balance? Lol need I mention Meta Knight?
FinalNinja literally only out of all those only bayonetta is even overpowered and maybe cloud
GL Scott! :D
