Before you look at the mileage on this car, take a look at the photos. I mean study them, look at each one, and then guess how many miles this amazing 1987 Camaro IROC-Z has on it. Not one of you guessed over 87,000, but the truth is, this car is nicer than any other 3rd generation Camaro we've ever featured, including the one with only 6000 original miles. Owned and maintained by one of the guys who worked for NASCAR great Ricky Rudd, he truly knew how to take care of a Camaro.
First of all, it's virtually impossible to keep a black car looking this good for 24 years, yet here it is, wearing 100% factory paint. There are no signs of accident damage, no touched-up dings, nothing but clean, freshly detailed, unblemished paint. This car was apparently never driven in the rain, and spent every night tucked into its own garage under a cover.
The top motor in the Camaro's arsenal, the L98 350 cubic inch V8, lives under the hood of this IROC, and it runs perfectly. The engine bay is tidy and very OEM in appearance, with most of the components looking almost factory fresh. Everything works, including the A/C that blows ice cold, and amazingly, there have been no aftermarket modifications.
The only transmission up to the L98's torque output was GM's rugged 4-speed automatic, and this one shows no signs of age. There's no slipping and it bangs off full-throttle upshifts and lightning-quick downshifts with authority. The suspension has been properly maintained, and there are recent brakes at all four corners. The exhaust system certainly sounds authentic, and it's very possible that it is the original setup. Of course, there has never been any rust underneath, and the floors are every bit as solid as the rest of the body. Wheels are handsome 16-inch 5-spoke alloys wearing newer BFGoodrich g-force T/A radials, which is the original size.
The condition of the gray cloth interior is nothing short of remarkable. There are no splits, tears, or frayed edges on the seats, and absolutely no stains or discoloration. The driver's door panel shows some light wear, and a stray thread or two, but that's it for interior issues. All the gauges work, including the unique L98 5500 RPM tachometer, and the A/C blows ice cold. Even the carpets and original carpeted floor mats are exceptionally good with virtually no signs of use, despite 24 years and 87,000 miles of use. Seriously, you should be blown away by how nice this car is.
So forget about mileage having any bearing on a car's quality, at least in the case of this IROC. We haven't ever seen a nicer one, but we've seen a lot of lower-mileage cars that were definitely not as nice. It is loaded with options as well as the big engine, making it THE 3rd generation Camaro to own. If you're a fan, you know these are impossible to find in such spectacular condition without any modifications. Add in the documentation package and you have a car that is worth every penny of the asking price. Give us a call today!
Paid $17,000 for a new 1987 IROC 5.7 loaded when I was 24 yrs old. Everyone had the Mustang GT at that time and Chevy finally put a 5.7 into the IROC in 1987. Traded it in a year later for a 1988 Honda CBR1000F Hurricane, black and monza red color. Bike of the year for 1988.
damn sick!! do you still has the bike?
I remember these in the 80s. The main reason I like sports cars. Only 225 hp on a v8? Wow they were slower than I remember. People say my 86 is slow at 200 hp and an 86 weighs about the same as 1/4 of an iroc
Now this is my dream car , love Camaro. ❤️👍
I love Camaro third generation. My favorite and dream car. Iroc Z 85, 86, 87 and 88 and Berlinetta 85 and 86 is my favorite
thats mi 23 years of a dream machine
My dream car
These cars where over engineered, meaning they where screaming for 'modifications' which are only improvements to what already makes this an enyoyable ride. From milage itself the subframe connectors are a must while period correct mods like PROM chip, headers, cat back, and better brakes are things that can not decrease the value of the car at least not moraly speaking. My 87 L98 has less mileage and it has period correct modifications while keeping stock appearance.
Very beautifull this Chevrolet Camaro Iroc Z 1987. Interessed, for sale? What is the price?
Anyone can overlook the miles if the car is pristine looking and clean.
Beautifull this Camaro Iroc Z 87, interessed, how much? For sale? Sold?
Ill be on the market soon
question do they had black interior in black irocz
my 87 has the same dent in the same runner. Not sure why either.
plus for 87 the stripes on the sides are backwards

Another recession it'll be back down to hooptie price like it was before
yeah ok. they might be popular in 10 more years. but for now everyone is buying up 5.0 foxbodies and Buick t-type turbos.
This comment hasn’t aged well. Third
Gens have done extremely well at auctions the past few years and have gained more popularity lately in media than both those other two cars.
Lol these cars are where it's at and I'm 20 I love camaros have a 97 5 speed RS swapping the 3800 v6 for something beefy like idk v8 lol
This car has t tops so it brings up a question how with a 350 in 87??
They could be ordered that way, I did that with mine. With the 5.7 (350) you could NOT get a manual or a convertible.
@@danielfair4675 I think after 89 you couldn't have a 5.7 with a t top so they were all hardtops
@@adamspitfire yep.
The 5.7 didn't get offered till mid-year in '87.
The 350 was a $1045 option, the t-tops were another option at $866.00.
There were quite a few other option you could add also. The black bucket seats were $277, split folding rear seats $50, the door edge guards were $15, rear louvers $210, Limited Slip $100, disc front and rear $179, the engine oil cooler was even an option at $ 110. There are others. But that's a few.
Other than leather I ordered mine with everything else, it stickered at $19,993.00.
@@danielfair4675 dayum 100$ for a LSD??? FULL DISCS 210$????? wow the 80s seemed so much better than now.
When driving once or twice a year I suppose so
Some ppl treat their cars better than their wives or gf's.
SugarBear most of these cars are better looking than their girlfriends or wives
Z28
.
it's almost too nice..I'd keep this thing in a garage and buy a base model for burnouts and daily-beat-down lol.
ha what i wanna know ok is why if its origanl it has dents onthe tuned port runners and no buggy bumpers on the side plus why doesit have to be detailed if its origanlly that nice i am a detailer and i have an iroc with 187,000 miles and it looks as fresh as that one so alli see is someone tryin to show off or sell a car i know the lies plus wheres the gatorback tires that come origanal
