This has been my same thought process over the past 20 years. Thats why today I own my own successful business after all these years of continue to grow and learn. Early on I took jobs that paid less, but gave me opportunities to learn more and get me closer to my goal. When others left a job that was on the path they said they desired to go....and all for an extra $1 an hour. That was losing sight of the goal. I stayed focused. People were asking me at the time why I would take such jobs. Fast forward 10 years later and people were asking me how to get the same job I had. Problem is that they only wanted the end result, but they werent willing to do what it takes to get there.
Thanks for showing the highs and lows of this trade... people only show the money you can make... but you really show the passion for what you work so hard for... Stay grounded and wish you and the misses the best!
What I love about Rig Welding. Is your never to old to weld. If you are in shape. 50 Getting back in shape. But the Most Impossible Goal and Mindset To Possible. Is Mindset confidence Endurance attitude. Breaking through negativity to fun Positivity. Same Thing for riding and Ranching and Riding Horses.
Not a welder but I went back to school at 24 to do pipe fitting here in New Brunswick Canada. Your videos are wicked. A lot of positivity and motivation. Keep up the good work!
Greetings from the Napa Valley. Congratulations . That made my day.Hope you don't get a dingle berry on that ring you wear. My brother got a berry on his ring and almost lost his finger. Keep us with your great videos. I watch them and man you bring it all back. I really miss welding and would do it all again. This getting old is no joke. I welded on hot taps. Hydrogen 5000 lb 1-1/4 chrome pipeing 16 inch with 12 bore took three days to weld after threeshots with cobalt. and the list goes on.I think nothing scared me confined space, heights etc. But now I'm getting old and can't believe I did all these things. Like I said before I really miss it all. Thanks Jerry B
Love your attitude man. I try and be the same. Learn it each day and remember it. Be a better you each day. And remember, everything happens for a reason.
..GREAT ATTITUDE, man, GREAT ATTITUDE. Too many people are willing to accept meritocracy instead of looking for ways to constantly improve their skills. GET 'ER DONE, Austin.
Your the best man. I watched you this morning, went and did a trailer gate repair im back home and watching more of your vids. Miller Bobcat 225, carbuerted
Great job, I know this was last year but still, perseverance paid off, I just admire the heck outa how you handled that last test. I definitely have room for improvement. Good luck
I really love the message here, from busting the test you learn some new things and have more time to practice for the next one, shows how bad you want it and how much you love it. I'm in the Chicago area trying to apply for local pipe fitters union. I've had fab shop experience and want to get out more and learn more!
I know Im a couple years behind, lol, but Im slowly making my way through your videos. Thank you for bringing us along with you in your welding/work adventures . cheers to your good attitude with every thing, especially with the last test. Turn-em n burn-em✊😎 Your Stubborn Californ-I-an Welder
Excellent video on being a humble welder. Keep up the great videos . I love watching the “day in the life” it almost like being on the same job with you.
I work for a short line railroad in harwood Tx, and we just stored a ton of green and red pipeline pipe I mean miles and miles of this stuff right next to our front office, not sure where it's gonna get put in the ground but it's right next to Gonzales Tx, might/could be a lead on another job that's gonna be goin down
Hey Austin, it’s inspiring that you have taken us on this journey of overcoming your busted test all the way up to passing your 2nd test. On one of your welding videos on your other channel or this one, Could you explain what you were doing that caused the undercut on the high side and what the advice was from the guys you reached out to and how you corrected it on the coupons you practiced on? What rod and rod size you used also? I’m about to break out very very soon and this journey of yours is reassuring that if I do bust don’t get discouraged but take it as a good learning experience and make it right on the next one just as you have done before our very eyes. Thank you for the humility! Have a blessed day! I will be posting this on your fb page as well just in case I don’t catch your attention on here. Thank you very much.
Awesome man glade to see you got the job I'm out here in texas working with a pipeline company from ohio though I really want to become a welder and tips on how you got started or if there is a video to it could you let me know about it Would be awesome to come out with you for a helper
Congratulations, dude! Hey man, what exactly did you bust on ( undercut, badcap, etc. ) and what did you you to correct it? What was wrong with the technique you used on the busted test? Thanks for all your insight! All the best on your new gig! Peace and God bless!
Proud 4 you!!! I guarantee you that something big is going to come out of you busting the first test and you being led to this job!!! It may just be you touching someone's life ... I'm so glad you tested out great!! Get some rest and have a great evening!!! Chris Ryan
Congratulations on your test! I've noticed the windshield on your truck and Kayla's truck are cracked across the bottom. I have a 2001 Dodge 2500 that did the same thing bout 2 months after I bought it new. Wonder how many more has done it? Just thought I would through that out there. Thanks and God Bless!
Been binge watching this dude's vids past 2 days and gotta say, know where he is coming from. I'm a pipe fitter and no one can kick my ass harder then me. I'm a perfectionist so when I miss a measurement or somethings not right it drives me insane and I'll spend hours trying to figure out what I did wrong. Live and learn, its important
Man love your videos I use to be a pipe welder but not on the pipe line did contract work in Alabama but stoped due to the lack of work I now work at Mercedes building cars but would love to get in to pipelining
Congratulations on overcoming your bust. Love your videos I’m a structural welter done some pipe but just bought a Miller Pipepro 400 Stainless Steel I love welding with it. I been thinking about getting certified to weld pipe what’s your thoughts I already travel doing what I do, I’m self employed have a lot of my own tools. Just want to broaden my skills.
Been subbed for a while, I'm in the UK but I envy you with the masses of work you guys have out there. I'm about to start getting my kit together to start teaching myself pipe welding, career change at 40 but we just don't have good enough welding courses in this country, if I want to take women's studies or some other BS then I can start a course tomorrow but I want to become a welder and get paid for something I enjoy far more than driving a track hoe.
Hey Austin just out of curiosity have you worn or heard about a brand of welding shirts called Western Welder? Just curious if you or anyone has had any luck with these shirts. Saw them on Facebook today and thought about ordering a few

You learn so much more when you fail then getting it right all the time. You know you're growing when fail and take the time to figure it out.
