I worked in oilfield 10 years on a rig and yes you are right it takes time to move up. You will work on rig floor for years before you get the chance to move up to next position. I was 19 when I first started and in 3 years I was a hydraulic tong operator but I had to work my shift and others shifts to get that.
Always been interested in the pipelines, but i really don’t have any clue on what happens out there. Watched these vids and it gave me a better understanding! Appreciate you posting these man.
Keep this series going please, also what are higher up positions you can get with a little extra school or an associates degree for example like “safety something” etc....
Love your videoes. Been watching almost all of them this last week. I live in Norway and work with ventilation, been thinking about dropping all my shit over here, move to Texas and start working on a pipeline, looks awesome!
Indeed.com and Glassdoor.com are decent website for jobs, search for 'pipeline jobs Texas', things like that. Can see who has jobs available and can call them up or send them a message to see if they will hire someone green who wants to learn.
15:23 that’s insane bro one day hustle, grind, and dedication man I hope one day that could be me 🙏🏽 Thanks for the tips man lookin to joining the pipeline work ASAP I’m still a sophomore but this is what I would want in my future just takes time
My buddies GF got hired as a laborer for a solar project in the midland/Odessa area in west Texas at 17$ hr with mandatory overtime. She had 0 experience in labor and the pay you a per diem
My dad seen a dude that was a spotter for a I think a trencher the chainsaw machine that they use to trench with that’s big as fuck Dude was spotting and some ground gave way under him and that trencher ate him up all that was left was his high vis jacket going through the blade and blood everywhere
YO BEAU I KNOW THIS IS A DUMB QUESTION BUT ID LIKE TO KNOW IF IM 19 AND I HAVE A WELDING CERTIFCATION WOULD I STILL BE A LABORHAND OR WOULD I BE A WELDER ? THANK YOU SORRY IM 17 SO I DONT HAVE MUCH KNOWLEGDE BUT WOUKD LOVE TO MNOW BECAUSE I WANT TO SUPPORT MY PARENTS AND GET GOOD MONEY
Been watching awhile very interesting been operating sense being able to abtane driving license starting out family installing septic tanks to clearing residential property via backhoe / trackhoe’s and obtaining CDL driving rock trucks Highway road dev. out of quarries teenage to early 20’s. Then after venturing leaving fam. Buis. Started with big comp. residential/commercial development installing roads with utilities and storm drains etc. with some blue print knowledge operating dirt pans dozers up to D10. Large excavators how would one with some of same general experience fit in and start out as pipeliner.
Keep it real bro…getting promoted on pipeline jobs is 75% who u know, not what you know. You didnt say it but i’d bet a paycheck thats how u got in a hoe seat as soon as u did lol. But having experience and learning as much as u can and being able to do shit without your foreman babysitting does go along ways with good bosses tho! But hell, I pretty much broke out operating the same way u did so i aint talkin shit lol. i got in a seat mid job cuz a guy got run off and my foreman knew i could run a hoe decently and wanted more experience and offered me the seat but i wouldnt get the raise with it yet. I jumped at the opportunity cuz i could run a hoe good enough but i knew i still had alot of learning to do about “operating” a hoe if ya know what i mean. Had alot of laborhands say i was crazy or stupid for lettin em play me, getting me to operate without operater’s pay and shit, And i’d just say “In 3 or 4 years, when you’re freezing your ass off in Ohio or some shit mid January, still throwing skids, jealous cuz u cant sit in the heat like the operator that just passed by…that mentality and attitude is gonna be the reason why!” 😂
I’m currently going to graduate with a bachelors degree in petroleum engineering in May from India. Could you please tell me how can I be a directional driller with a college degree

Working off the clock is illegal at both the state and federal level. If an employer requires that for moving up, that company needs reported.
Is labor hand and floor hand the same ?
Torrey Brown no floor hand is working floors on pulling units and drilling rigs
Bitchin’ Fishin’ labor hard is not always pipe line
Cool
