Thanks for the encouraging video. I always start to feel guilty if I don't submit to my OCD thoughts or if I try to distract myself, because I'm afraid that if I don't obsessively think about them and not always on alert, then they'll actually happen. I have to remind myself that the only thing that these damn thoughts have done is make me nervous and unable to actually focus on anything. Thanks again for making videos!

The thought will not go away easily. It will be there at the corner of the brain. But once, you stop focusing on that thought & also not doing any compulsions, slowly that thought will fade away. It may take months also.

    • @lewisjohnston8552

When it's the bad, it's usually good to just accept whatever's bothering you and sometimes try to deliberately focus on it. To choose to pay attention for a specific amount of time towards your thoughts/feelings is part of ERP Therapy. The most effecting kind of treatment for OCD. But you should only do it when you feel that you can make yourself not freak out over the exposure. Research is key to finding out how you can get rid of OCD to the fullest extent. Good luck!

    • @krishnakhigoswami1841

When you actively unable to distract or divert, just give in. Just surrender. Think you are powerless in front of the thought, its too powerful, you are too weak and exhausted to follow it. Then when you feel the slightest bit better, get back up quickly and distract yourself. Basically play dead then runnnnnn bitchhhhhh. Run for your lifeeeeee

  • @ishpreetchawla728

I cannot emphasize enough how inspiring, moving, educational, and useful this is. Simple as it sounds, make the choice to do something differently, when you feel like you "can't," and bam... you get a new result and what was once insurmountable begins to fade away. I would add to the quote that if a thought makes you feel like anything less than who you are, if it's limiting you or taking you away from what you love, if it's hurting you... then don't follow it... make that choice to set yourself free... don't look back.
Thanks for the wonderful video! ♥️👍🏻Simple yet profound

  • @dev4911

Wow! I mean WOW!! "If a thought doesn't give you inner peace, don't follow it." That's the best line I have heard in years. I think this one line can help me sail through most of my OCD problems :)

  • @fatguy3814
    @fatguy3814 4 года назад +6

One doctor said. That you should Not base any action on the thought.
Do not do anything because of the thought , and don't leave anything because of the thought, he said this is the cure.
You continue as though nothing happened. This those thoughts and feeling associated will fade. You make thoughts stronger when you give them time, acknowledgement, and emotion. Usually when a thought pops in your mind. You forget and move on. But you sat with, accommodate, magnified.discussed it, gave it time, Multiplying trying to avoid in the first place while it meant nothing and hold no weight. When in reality all you had to do is continue with what you are doing, and don't start doing things because of it. Thats how you ignore. You don't ignore with force, but this won't work if yoursomeone. Who doesn't have much Todo in his day. If your idle you will remain in it. They will go when you have bigger plans and problems. Emotion and reppitition is reinforcing what is actually not true in your mind.
Act as if nothing happened, pretend you didn't say anything or did anything. Don't argue, don't discuss don't explain or justify. It will not help at all. It will only make things worse. You just need to get busy and when they come you continue and let them fade.

I believe in God and believe that everything hppens for a reason at the right time :) now i found how to deal with it. I think i have pure O but i dont know sometimes i feel its juste the habit of excessive thinking, overthinking. But maybe thats pure O . Anyway i think we have the solution now !!

The only thing I couldn't relate to is being among people to distract myself from my OCD. My OCD theme is a fear of people judging me so being around people just increases my OCD sadly.

The two challenges i face in my ocd is doubting and felling like it's my thoughts .
So if this is my thoughts why i reject them why i fight them ?
Why they hurting me so like that ?
So if we make a distance between ocd and the true self i think we can heal .
Ocd is curable . I met many people who cured .
I wish we all get cured.

    • @JoeySkate24

Viking v ocd is not a disease. Its a category of anxiety disorder. Anxiety disorder = just a person who has so much anxiety that it creates symptoms. Ocd is not a monster or mentail illness and i had it. Yes it feels awful but of course you can get "cured". About thoughts follow this right here. We have no control of what pops up into our minds. Its not ocd attacking you or smth like that. You me all people dont control our thoughts neither thats an issue.ITS OUR REACTION TO THEM. here follow that rule below.
Thoughts have no power and no concequences UNTIL WE DECIDE TO 1)dismiss them (do that) 2)engage to them/focus on them/"follow" them (dont do that) or if you do switch to number 1. Or 3) ac on them/believe them to be true (dont do that..) . Good luck !!

@@JoeySkate24 my OCD is kind of different. Instead of "bad" thoughts stuck in my head, i keep thinking of repetitive thoughts on how to improve myself. My compulsion is i keep writing and rewriting the same thought down in my notes app on my phone and they're all like "don't be like this", "be like this", "don't do this", etc. but they're the same thoughts .. my ocd keeps pressuring me to write it down anyways even though i've written it a hundred times before.I keep telling myself not to write it down but in the moment when that thoughts pops up, it scares me into thinking i'll stay the same way forever if i don't write it down because i'll forget it.

@@user-nc1bi5ro2i instead of improving yourself you should first learn to accept yourself. What youre describing is perfectionist based where your mind goes on a repetitive cycle of thinking how ill become better. Read on perfectionism then read on mindfulness meditation. As far as the repetitiveness goes try little by little to react to these thoughts by dismissing them ( for example: nah.. these are just thoughts of the mind... or ok brain whatever). It doesnt matter if they show up again or break ur balls.. just keep on reacting to your minds chatter this way and study how to rid yourself of perfectionism. Also watch sadghuru videos on youtube on thoughts and emotiones. Hope i helped

this is actually very good if you combine it with mindfulness, yes you are right DIVERT YOUR MIND from anxious thoughts with something which will engross your attention, but because anxiety sufferers including ocd's have great thinking minds i like to do creative things and put the ability to better use, that way we're using thought for something positive and not following those thoughts as you say, nice vid

I have depersonalization / derealization an harm ocd an it's ruining my life I have no health insurance I have no money to get rid of this with medicine or doctors I recently started trying CBD oil I originally got the depersonalization be realization disorder from smoking weed because my intrusive thoughts got so bad but I just wanted to happen escape. I have looked up constantly on the internet if anyone is going through through these things at the same time and I can't find anything it's made it hard because I can't relate to anybody. I don't want to hurt nobody I love my family I love my mother and I love my father I've always wanted to be a person I would inspire hope and give hope to people and help people and I'm confronted with these ideas these terrible thoughts in my head sometimes I get the urges and I feel terrible the only thing that I want to do is just leave and never come back but I there were times where I did leave the house and then came back during covid it's not really easy either because you have to stay home it's terrible. But I'm trying to stay hopeful if there's anybody out there that's going through this but I hope you make it through it I want to make it to it too I'm crying while I say this, but yeah,,,, I cryed when I saw this video.

I fall back on this Often, especially when I'm panicking with OCD, like I was earlier. Sometimes I tear up watching it, and that's ok as well. Happy Holidays

I've been doing a lot of reading on OCD without myself having OCD but the experts say that distraction is not the way to go. Distraction is actually a compulsion. What you need to do is accept/allow/give some time for the thoughts that are intrusive and producing the anxiety/fear to dissipate.

Exactly no distraction..Just allow that it is there, and pills ❤

I feel like I'm trapped cause everytime I follow this rule my OCD goes away only to come back later. Its horrifying. I absolute hate my OCD

A way you can deal with this is, you can say give it all you have, I want that anxiety, make me feel it. This is not so much as in you are following the thought but more of training yourself to stand it without trying to make it go away. Without you fearing it that much, there is no room for other bad emotions.

Ocd is a skill...embrace it and create a life around it...avoid others who create stress...it can't be fixed so just put yourself into an alone state
