I don't know this song at all, but it sounds good on first hearing. Yes, the bridge section is challenging, vocally. We need to sing a song in the right key for our own voice, and to that end I regularly change the key to some of the songs I cover. It makes me laugh when someone says, "Hey man, you're playing this song in the wrong key!" Fact: There is no wrong key! A song needs to be played in the right key for whoever is singing it. Thanks for sharing this video. I think you did a pretty good job!
@@roberthaigh3206 Thanks Robert. I often down tune to help me try and hit the high notes. Not everyone can sing every song. I enjoy trying and happy to post the good and the bad. 😁
@@DrewHughesMusic I agree that not everyone can sing every song. I am a one- or two-take performer, when it comes to videos. I have passed on a few songs over the years because I didn't like my own renditions, but a few rough edges are OK in my book -- it gives the performance an authentic live quality to it. Keep on going!
From Boris Johnson (Scott or not? ... not of the times of Shakespeare, for sure) I have the quote: "I cannot be this person" - I like that approach "I cannot sing", looks like a new format, frame - for those who "do can the can". Anyway, to my ears, at 2:20 (which in fact is the time you gave for the cannot do) you found an intriguing new modulation which seems "righteous, brothers". Hence, yes, you can, again, yes, you can. Btw. in German yes is Ja, but here, yes is DOCH. Kidding again. Can is so interesting a word. Great performing! Keep on! P.S. Also great it that link you gave in the description. Only then, people like me who come stumbling in will detect that you put that intro in front of your video; I thought I was in some commercial etc. So - great link, I think such linking enhances. I wouldn't recommend framing yourself too much as a non-pro or learner, as you definitely are upper crust. I guess that could be irritating to an audience that is willing to accept you as some star, arlready. I may be wrong; it's sure no easy under-taking you seem up to - I feel reminded of this best selling approach of that guy who got the most views on RUclips ever. Writing down all this, thank you for allowing, in advance, I realize how serious you might be about success or not, measured in acclamation. You got mine, "critical-acclamation", I am your 10th thumb today.
@@peterbernhard7415 Thank you for checking it out. I never take myself seriously. Never ever 😄. I wasn’t happy with my performance so decided to post it anyway but in a comedic manner. Make a joke out of how I couldn’t hit the high notes. 🤡
@@DrewHughesMusic Hey, thanks for taking even some more time "on me" (learning English I am) - you are right, in fact, I needed some more explaining. First, I was about to reply I couldn't find the high notes you mean, then I recalled that the interval is only a second or second and half, that separates tenors from baritone - if you are in a world or perfection which is the going public. I think I better understand now, and, to be honest, I am amazed on how apt you are to modulate in a perfect way. A very early author comes to my mind, Ephraim Kishon, who was broadly successful, i.e. very successful in the comedian fields, who said "you need a sharp pencil" (to do comedy). You must be very skilled to sing a modulation and thereby making the audience forget about any absolute notes you found substitution for. Cheers! I guess your unobtrusiveness in some paradox could make you an even bigger star on a broad way or wide meadow, so to say, you get the point, so, keep it "forth".
It is a great song, and you've done it well... I think we are all our own biggest critics - I sometimes wonder what it must be like to be one of those people who have supreme confidence in everything they do (whether misplaced confidence or not). Anyway, it's back to work for me tomorrow, so this was a nice way to finish my break. I tell you what song I've been fixated on recently - "Your Love" by The Outfield. I've listened to dozens of different covers of it. Some good, some not so much, but all done by people with the guts to sing it (and enjoy it) and put it out there for the rest of us to enjoy. Wow, that turned into quite the waffle on...
@@1973DamianS funny you have been fixated on that song. I sung that at a Halloween party karaoke. Halloween just past. Wow, I know I was drunk but I didn’t do it justice 🤣. @@DrewHughesMusic Rain has been alright... driveway not too much of a mess, but paddocks are too wet to safely do any more tractorising for now... if it stays dry this week I'll try to get back on it next weekend.
Hi Drew. I have never heard this song before. I was intrigued by what you put in the title. Now…..I assume YOU are referring to yourself, saying you can’t sing? Well let me tell you with 100 % honesty as always, with the exception of a couple (that’s all) wobbles ( and this is only down to nerves I think) , I closed my eyes and just listened and I LOVED it. You really do have a lovely, pure voice and all you need to do is just work on your breathing control and your confidence. Very talented and thanks for your videos and a Happy New Year to you and the family xx
@@JesusIsKing96 happy new year! 🥳. I recorded this but when I watched it back I literally cringed at my attempts to hit the high notes. I thought I’d post it anyway and poke a little fun at it 😄
@ I think when I hear you about to sing higher notes, there is almost a split second hesitancy from you because you are probably not confident. But you really should just relax and totally go for it because you DO have the ability and you DO have a strong and amazing voice, so keep at it because your wonderful guitar and your wonderful voice go perfectly hand in hand.
I feel this one was directed at me and well......I forgive you!......they were just darts anyway. Lets just leave the past in the past and move on! xxx
Honestly what you are singing could be a backup vocal/harmony, but I think you just don’t know the melody in the verse. I sang the original part along with your recording and it was pretty good, ngl.
Really cool ☺🙂😊
