He actually was an anti hero for some time, when batman died he and some other villains protected gotham while the batkids also patrolled and another story where he believed he was a result of a broken condom from Thomas Wayne and thought that he was part of the Wayne family and he also became batman for a while.
Honestly I’m surprised he just doesn’t become a hero. Because of the years of use of Venom I’m sure his body adapted and he maintain some of the strength he got from venom.
Honestly reminds me of a reddit story. To basically sum it up during this guys birthday after finally getting sober, this guys brother buys a bottle of expensive alcohol for his brother and the begins pour drinks for people. Guy calls is brother out on doing this knowing he's finally sober, brother basically says what's wrong with them drinking and ruining his birthday like him and his drinking ruined so many occasions. The guy just grabs the bottle and glasses before throwing them all away and telling the brother to get out. His family basically calls him the ass for all that. I can get still being angry at the guy for ruining I don't even know how many moments, but to do something to potentially make a guy relapse after he's made it obvious he's trying to fix his life is just messed up.

I wish this would turn Bane into some sort of anti hero that Batman can work with once in awhile. Redemption has always been a big thing for Batman across his entire series. So Bane actually trying to redeem himself for all the pain he's caused is a huge impactful story and progression for a villain character.

He's very smart, not just brutally strong. That's why he can even use venom without dying or losing himself. He plays chess with his enemies, but he makes himself every piece on the board.

Batman breaks into Peña Duro, steals the psycho pirate (he needs him to help heal another superhero) and then DOSES himself with venom and breaks Banes back. Months later Bane returns to Gotham, back healed and single handedly takes down the Bat Family and every single inmate in Arkham Asylum that stands between him and Batman. The only 2 he doesn’t beat to near death are Maxie Zeus, who just narrates a poem, and Riddler, who doesn’t even try to stop Bane in some way and just opens the last door between him and Batman for the guy.
I love how all the cartoons and movies made him a mindless cannon until dark knight rises and he’s a smart man beast. I definitely didn’t understand what a great character he is until then
This is why I love Batman villains because not all of them wanted to be villains some just happened because of circumstances and can still change for the better. It just gives another layer to the character, which makes the main comics kind of. more if that makes sense
Bane is a rare find for Batman. For most villains when they find out a superhero's identity they stereotypically exploit them. But not Bane. He watches you destroy yourself from the inside out before he steps out of the shadows to break you in half and finish you off.
Anyone who likes Bane needs to track down Gail Simone’s first run of “Secret Six” from just before Flashpoint ruined everything. It’s full of great characters and stories, none better than Bane. He’s shown to be an honorable, almost Conan-like warrior. He even rides a dinosaur. It’s amazing. One of the best and most underrated comic books of all time.
Man I love batman and his rogue gallery, it is wholesome seeing Bruce helping bane after all harm he had done to him and still giving him a second chance at life by seeing his potential

I'm really proud of him. Addiction is a demon on your back that never really goes away. You never really beat it, you just learn to live without it. Resisting the temptation, even that far down the line, takes incredible willpower.
I like how batman villains can actually change for the better if they just tried to no matter the temptations. Just proves to show that everybody is not born as a villain but created as one.
