In group therapy we were asked what mental illness would we choose, if we had to choose. I said, “Not really a mental illness, but I would choose psychopathy.” The therapist asked why, and I said it would be a relief not to have a care what other people think.
I think I could listen to Dr. Vaknin talking about names in a telephone book. He is the only person I know who is absoluly never boring. But with a interesting topic like this I feel alive even If my depression makes me usually feel like a zombie.

What I want to know is, how did the Americas get so psychopathic? There are clues but I haven't been able to piece it together.... Latin America is still dealing with an abnormally high instance of psychopathy. They seem to be taking their time weeding them out. In the USA and Canada the psychopaths we found were identified swiftly and delt with with extreme prejudice.

I've watched perhaps 100 hours of your videos. First time posting. If much of the world today is "mentally ill," as I'm hearing you claim, then it would follow that only certain states of ideation are "normal." But what then signifies or distinguishes mental health? Thinking the "right" or "healthy" thoughts? And what are those? Only those that demonstrate beneficially in the life of the ideator? In the life of others? Why isn't mental Illness that which presents symptoms due to recognizable and evidenced physical or chemical aberrations? Were Joan of Arc, Luther, Buddha, etc. all mentally ill because of their ideas?

In my thoughts you were real, true, a reflection of my inner most fantasy. A mirror image, maybe. Your beauty soared in the humid July midnight air as I was swept away into your inner landscape of dark seductiveness. A mirage of a love affair transpiring between two lost souls. I loved you like a daughter, and you, me, as the father that you never had. Failure was inevitable, but, we both could not resist the temptation of not keeping the fantasy alive. Folie à deux…We drank, ate and made love under the stars, for a lifetime or two, as the shallow foundation crumbled beneath us. We lost ourselves in our high, for the better of us. A passage that will be told many a time by the ever so tall, and overlooking conifer, as it will outlive us all. kanye west and his followers come to mind too, as do those that carry a self imposed label of neurodivergence as if it were a fashion statement. the entry of therapy speak into mainstream language seems like an odd side effect of this too, although this in particular may be partly due to more people getting therapy.
