    90% of the guys at my local track race losi 8eights in some generation or other...then there is a couple team associated guys, a team Durango guy, and me with my beloved and still competitive O'Donnell z01b sg. Losi is a solid easy to upgrade platform.

    I have the buggy and the truggy. love them both. They are my first nitro's. I have 5 gallons through the truggy, and close to 3 gallons through the buggy. Haven't broken a part yet, and I bash the hell out of both of them.

    I admit the following is what i observed at the local track and not first hand. A fella i race with has raced his losi8 original fully optioned out for years, great buggy. Well he has two twin boys about 12 i think. He bought them the rtr and they were unable to break it for many weekends. They bent the front upper solid turnbuckles but their dad just switched em out from his spares box right at the track. I would recommend this buggy, also about 75% of the guys i race with race this platform in some form or other.

    Great 👍 Video NITRO Brother ✊️!! That's a great set up for beginners hands down! But it shouldve have had a sealed motor with back plate Bump Box Start only instead of NITRO motor with a oneway bearing pullstart or roto crap! Still great 👍 RC! I love both my 4.0s Buggy and Truggy! Especially Truggy!! But I have the race kits with better hardware

    • @BOTAJELL
      @BOTAJELL 7 лет назад

      Garrett Luong exactly!!! But..... I must say that the New RTR 8ight Buggy and Truggy are probably the most durable I have seen so far from LI Bash in Long Island NY . And that's why I picked a new NITRO RTR 8ight T for my daughter! I will be replacing the motor with a Novarossi 28/8 or a ROMA .25 with back plates to use Bump Box. Also my buddy just picked up the New RTR Buggy and Truggy for his sons and I will start break in on them soon and it will be there first NITROs to learn on! I will show eventually everything of how and what happens next. But race 🏁 kit is race kit and it is different and better! Way better and I can prove that!!

    • @chloe19815
      @chloe19815 7 лет назад

      So does the kit come with upgrades guys I'm thinking about buying an new 8ight 4.0 but do I go rtr or build.

    • @BOTAJELL
      @BOTAJELL 7 лет назад

      chloe19815 if you want 4.0 ? Then you must build the kit because there is no RTR 4.0 yet. The new LOSI 8ight RTR is really like the 3.0. But you don't get all the goodies like you would a real 3.0 race kit either. You can't go wrong with either or because I have all of them and I see them in action all the time and there all durable as hell!

    • @BOTAJELL

      chloe19815 4.0 kit is a fun build to do and you get some nice goodies with it .

      BOTAJELL question for you as you seem well experienced in nitro buggy. If I buy this rtr version can I still use my bump start box? I've been doing on road for a few years and pull starts don't exist on my touring cars as I run strung out .12 motor class. Would the bump start work on a pull start engine? Or will I damage it? Thanks

    it's a good start to a video. I'd prefer to see the unboxing, an overview, running video and a review all in one but that's just me. I may have to shut up and just do my own video since it's easy to be a critic. I have sold a few of these at my LHS and as much as a downer the plastic is, it actually WORKS really well. I drive full on race buggies, but this is the perfect beginner buggy for someone wanting to get into nitro. The things i thought were bummers actually work fine, but there are some other issues. Out of the 4 cars running at our track, not one has broken a shock cap, but all of them have had to replace the pipe. When you tank it into the jump by under shooting it, the forward force pulls the pipe out of its rubber joint. Just get a Dynamite or Losi Pipe with springs. The servos are a bit slow but they work ok. They buggy engine runs decent, it's a bit underpowered, but the Truggy's .28 is a good start, plenty of power. The pull starter actually lasts and none have broken, but we were bummed to find that you have to buy different motor mounts to use a starter box, I think it should be setup to take a box if you like without having to buy anything but the box. The tires....well... they look nice, they don't grip well. The rest of the car, honestly i cannot complain. It pushes a bit but it's perfect for the beginner. I say way to go Losi! And they price cut them now they're cheap!

      This is an inexpensive RTR motor. Not the same as the standard Mach 21. It's got decent mechanical pinch but it's not as tight as most "race" quality motors. I run an idle tank, COOL, 1/4 throttle tank, COOL, 1/2 throttle tank, COOL, 3/4 throttle tank,..guess what...COOL, then run the last tank thru full throttle. Ater the second tank you may have to lean out the HSN a bit, but just make small adjustments and make sure you have smoke. Watch break in videos.Adam Drake has one on SHORT COURSE WORLD channel

      The composite shocks and links blew our minds too, but it probably helps keep costs down for those who want to try a race capable 1/8 buggy. We'll see how they hold up to some track action and report back in a review video.

    • @brandonbentley8532
      @brandonbentley8532 6 лет назад +1

      lane johnson not to chime in but i agree 100% but if a new to rcist has 300 dollars and no mechanical ability a kit may be overwhelming. This can be where a rtr comes in. I know for a couple hundred more you get more precisipn parts but the so-called plastic is actually high carbon polycarbonate so its not junk and more forgiving for a new racer or basher.

    • @brandonbentley8532
      @brandonbentley8532 5 лет назад

      @lane johnson depends, my local track has a beginner class for newbies. The buggy is still very competitive as it comes!

    • @brandonbentley8532
      @brandonbentley8532 5 лет назад

      @lane johnson well put and thank you for a solid reply! I love kits myself. A beginner or parent/child build is a cool option. My first rc car I bought with hard earned farm money when I was 12 and my dad helped me build it. This led to a career in machining/manufacturing and even car restoration so there are loads of valuable things you can learn from building a kit. And to tell the truth hop up parts are a tremendous value these days, especially aluminum and graphite. That stuff just a decade ago was as much as the whole kit! Anyway thanks again!

    The funny thing is i've only been into nitro for half my life !! its just what im used to. I've never even owned a brushless rc ever.
    Recently i've had this interested in a track buggy and most of the tracks near me are indoor which is nice and all but they don't allow nitro. So i've been looking at brushless buggies but dam they are sooo pricey. Even for a buggy kit thats un assembled you'll pay just as much as this thing is RTR. So now im considering saying screw it and staying to my nitro roots and just looking for tracks that allow nitro even if it means driving further. The odd thing is even though i know brushless is faster and easier to deal with.. i just have this deep down urge to buy something like this and not look back. Literally the only thing thats making me consider the brushless is the fact that the two closest tracks here are indoor and no nitro allowed.

    • @rcdriver
      @rcdriver  7 лет назад +2

The Specter was a reliable, unbreakable car but, lets face it, it never was a good handling car. Max steering angle, packaging, weight, Geometry, Shocks, and not to mention that elephant of a 4.1 cc Force engine. Sucking fuel like no tomorrow.

    What is your view on the HPI vorza flux all electric buggy as I’m thinking of buying one but I’m not sure if it’s worth it or not ?

    I’ve been looking at this buggy on Amazon, they say I need some more parts to complete the set. One of the items is called a “Nitromethane-Approved dispenser” After researching for quite some time I can’t find anything on it? Any help?

      If you don't mind spending a few extra bucks, then the Quick Change engine mounts are the way to go. Part: LOSA9155

      Happy to help! We're still waiting for our local track to finish rebuilding so we can wrap up the review of this machine. But it already sounds like you're enjoying yours. Have fun!

      I went ahead and ordered better servos and ended up putting a Jammin'JP-3 pipe on it and it does incredible on the track. that RTR engine puts up with the big boys out there. can't wait to see some updates on yours!!!

    How would this hold up with jumping, and bashing? I am thinking about getting my first R/C Vehicle (Flew airplanes for years), and I'm not sure if a stadium truck, monster truck, or something like this would be better for me. I'm not sure about racing, I just want something that I can do whatever I want with... be it bashing, racing if I ever do, or whatever.

    I started on nitro when I was 12 and it worked damn well for a month then i hit a mail box and i went in to replace the block head thingeys and then hell broke loose and $70 worth of parts were broke and then I extended the tmaxx and put in a .28 1/8 scale style and she rips when i dont over torque the slipper clutch and bend the transmission output 😡

    Is the exceed hyperspeed nitro buggy any good? I want to get a nitro rc off-road car but I don't want to spend over $150. Any advice is appreciated thanks.

    • @rcdriver
      @rcdriver  7 лет назад

      I always like to tell people to get something you can easily get parts for. I think NitroRCX does well with stocking parts for the car, but your local hobby shop probably won't have parts. The buggy is ok for general bashing on dirt and small jumps. The engine can be finicky. We've seen some that run well and others that require constant tuning.

    For $540 that's a lot of car. You're going to have to buy a new servo horn for around $10, but that's still overall way cheaper than a $1200 8ight 4.0
