At night, it's a total a disaster. You may want to consider a infrared cam at night.
The idea is great, you just need to fix visión at night. Right now, it's like not having a mirror cam. :-(
Also, if you have an obstacle on passenger side, you cannot see where the mirror cam is and you may brake the mirror cam. From the driver seat, it's impossible to see it.
I'm an engineer myself and I know how much of a technical challenge it is, to make all things work out together in a proper way :-)
Keep it up. I love Actros

While I’m here Mercedes what the hell where you thinking when you put in those pathetic sun visors ? I mean I have to take me seatbelt off to stand up and reach towards the windscreen to pull it down ! Seriously take a look at any decent truck today , they have a roller blind that covers both sides of the screen and you can lower it as far down as you like . Clearly not a driver who designs the interiors , and don’t even get me started on the wafer thin mattress ! 🙄

Great tutorial, is there a process for connecting additional cameras into the main display pilot, for example a rear reversing camera for rigid vehicles.

    I HATE THESE BLOODY THINGS!!!
The rear of the truck looks so far away compared to that of a standard mirror. it's difficult to judge the distance between docking bay and the guide rails. First time reversing onto a dock in one of these things i had to shunt several times because the camera quality just isnt good enough..

Horrible you have no depth perception. You can't see bank's men at the back as it's blurry that far back. And who carries a cone with them to adjust the mirrors.

It would be good to hear opinions from drivers who use these all day, every day.
I had an 8 wheel tipper with all round cameras and didn't find them much use, only when there were dodgy insurance claims which boss said happened at least once a week. One car tried to come up the inside, didn't make it, then said I passed him and pushed him off the road.

      First day with one,
the legal angle is a too low, I like to be able to see the roof of the trailer on a 4.2m trailer.
When you lift the angle up, it gives you the warning that it's illegal. So vosa and police will see the red symbol and pull you for it, the driver should decide what's safe not the computer.
There is 2 camaras per screen, don't try and legalize the angle of the camaras,
Can't read license plate numbers through them, not the best quality.
Havnt driven in the dark yet, but the other comment here fills me with confidence haha.
Il let you know more at the end of the week.

Got these on our job. Garbage. Dangerous. In spray or low light you can't see anywhere near as well as in a glass mirror. Those lines are to "help " the driver judge how far traffic is away from you. ..if the screens were as good as a glass mirror you wouldn't need lines...or if lines were so "helpful " merc would put lines on its glass mirrors too. LED headlights on cars constantly flash at you because the light frequency interferes with the mirror screen. You can't safely clean the camera on the move so any large droplet of water obliterates a third of the screen image. Just garbage.

Love some of these comments! Nothing positive to say- like the massive improvement in vision from the cab- no offside blindspot anymore. The camera pans with the trailer, so you never lose sight of your back end. DAF and MAN have now introduced their own systems, so they obviously see the safety benefit? Volvo are not far behind...
