- One of the popular slogans in AA is read in "How it works" almost every meeting. It emphasizes the importance of progress in our own recovery. John D. shares his story as a flawed, but willing individual, and does an EXCELLENT job of sharing. His story is VERY uplifting and he inspires me with his honesty and willingness. Thank you so much John, you have an amazing story.

I listen to AA speakers so i can get a better understanding on this disease that my husband suffers from, 28yrs of marriage 10 yrs of alcoholism and benzo addiction, im at the end of my rope, i dont wanna live like this anymore.

I am in alanon as well,best app ever. I grew up in an alcoholic home as well but at that time I didn't know it. I know my problem is codependency and I am working on freeing myself from this addiction too. Thank you for your encouraging words.

In response to the comments. The 12 stepswere originally formulated in the book called "Alcoholics Anonymous" which wasnt published until 1939.
