I purchased a one x just for this reason, tired of constantly upgrading a pc for what is less and less available time to play games.
Im another one thats seen 4k/60fps on pc as far as optimzation goes even with the Xwith having some 30fps games imo the console is better. I cant tell you how many times more then it should be to where a game isnt optimized the way it should be on pc and this is with a gtx 1080...Yes the pc is more powerful but console runs it better in certain ways...With having a X im not really worried about the 1180/2080 or what ever its going to be called..Not a console fanboy just seeing how games are coming off in the past few years and more and more its getting shaky and if your running at 4k and if something is a hair off its over unless u run at 1440p...Which i didnt wanna do on my pc...Dont mind it for the X with its price point...And HDR is something else...

As far as upgrades ive been doing it for 5 years its been good but games dont run the way they use to run..There was a time when you could buy a game on steam and u sorta could feel good knowing its going to be smooth..Now i dont get that. Example played nba 2k18 on pc runs like meh..Have it on the X no issues..I know im not about to get nba 2k19 on pc and people could say but thats a small game..Fact is that game isnt crysis 5 its not that demanding...X runs it 60fps/4k/HDR no problem

Same and i was a hardcore didnt want a console person before the x came out...Untill i seen it and look at some of the games that my pc should run which the X is doing them better...(sure i dont have a broken or bad pc) Optimzation on consoles is next level..That alone made me switch....And before then i was really thinking bout getting a new gpu but not now.....

My husband is a die hard PC gamer and I like consoles.. I get so annoyed with his sanctimonious "PC master race" and constant critiquing the visual quality of anything I play when i play PS4.. However lol, I recently purchased a XB1X and immediately noticed his critiquing stopped, or he would try but be overly disingenuous lol, and now he is using it every time I show up from work a bit early lol.

The witcher has ALWAYS been on PC, PUBG sold like 30 million ON PC, GTA 5 has sold MILLIONS on PC, Ubisoft has doubled down on PC support, 99% of all multiplatform devs make sure to create a PC version. Why? Because it's a HUGE market. What makes more money than console gaming? PC. Way more revenue than console gaming, I can provide facts here you go.

I agree with that. I don't own a PC for exclusives, I own a PC because it's objectively the best place to play multiplats, which are the most played games. Consoles are for exclusives (which is why xbox one, one S, one X are all irrelevant because they haven't had a AAA exclusive in over 2 years). Playstation and Switch are all that's needed for exclusives and a PC for multiplats.
Xbox is also only getting multiplat titles .

Only to a casual gamer that doesn't know any better. I actually used to work in retail and people would say "Why did they make GTA 5 on PC? It ain't gonna work that good on a computer since a game system is made JUST to play games right?" Then you tell em the truth and they're like "oh wow" *mind blown*
And a 300 dollar console only "lasts" (I'm sure you use the word loosely) for 7 years because there's no improvements in visuals or anything. That hardware that's there is there and there's no improvements whether you want to or not. You're literally stuck with mediocrity and when you DO decide to get something better you've got to buy a whole nother unit to do so.
Meanwhile a PC can last as long if not longer. That whole "need a ram and gpu upgrade in 4 years" thing is a boldface LIE.
You don't NEED to upgrade shit, you can CHOOSE TO if you want and choose not to if you don't. I'm the type of guy that wants the best, so yes I CHOOSE TO upgrade every couple years but my last computer I sold to a friend, it has a GTX 770 and 8GB of ram and guess what? HE STILL PLAYS IT DAILY and doesn't have a problem running any games. It's a FIVE YEAR OLD GPU. He's playing in 1080p 60+ fps in every single game. (he only has a 1080p tv). So another myth busted. No you don't have to upgrade, but you can, a choice unfortunately those consoles doesn't give you.

Not gonna argue with you because I already stated I have my PC for multiplats, that's the star of the show. I have consoles for exclusives (honestly exclusives are the ONLY objective reasons to own a console) and PC for multiplats.

you neglect the fact that they were fixed within 24 hours. PC gets fixes WAY QUICKER than consoles because the PC community doesn't stand for less. Remember mafia III having framerate issues? (It was locked to 30 fps) PC gamers forced their hand and they fixed the framerate.
Also they weren't perfectly fine, they had to download that day one patch. Do you know how many console games are shipped BROKEN and fixed with a day one patch?

And always freeze and crash? Another lie I see.Yeah it happens sometimes but it's a rarity. I can literally count on one hand the number of times it's happened on my PC, yet I can't call of duty VR to launch, keep getting crashes on ultimate alliance 2, green screens and all ON CONSOLE.
PLEASE do your research before you spout untrue and greatly hyperbolized untruths about PC. It's CLEAR you aren't really a PC gamer because a real PC gamer would have NEVER said untrue things like that.
If you PREFER consoles more, that's fine, just say that. But to make up lies (well I like gaming on the couch wth a controller) or (it's too complicated) just shows you truly DON'T know what you're talking about.
Saying you prefer consoles is subjective and nothing wrong with it AT ALL. I respect it. Saying on implying consoles are better is inaccurate objectively.
Your review is very good. I built a PC just for streaming and video editing, I don't even bother PC gaming anymore. XBOX ONE X is a good price for what it can do.

Absolutely brilliant video. I upgraded from the S to the X with a top end LG 4k TV. The difference is night and day. Worth every penny. (£390 from CEX with 2 years warranty. Get on it!)
As a die hard PC gamer with an I7 8700k / GTX 1080ti rig I'll add this: Xbox one X is a hell of a deal for what you get. It's the power of mass manufacturing bringing down the price. Along with the backing of an extremely well funded company. I guess the brand new console games are pricey but let's face it, there's a ton of lightly used games for $20 or less at Game Stop and the like. Backwards compatibility means buying old 360 games for $2-5 and up-scaling them with 4k TVs and such. It's a steal and a lot of fun for little cash. $60 a year for membership? Are you kidding me? That's only 1-2 Starbucks a month. Where do your priorities lie? For just gaming and optical drive movies on a lower budget the console wins. I choose the PC because it's a powerhouse multi function machine. I can produce a professional architectural drawing using Chief Architect during the day and play on the same machine at night. You know the drill. Respect to the console gamers. With all of this cross PC functionality, I need to buy one of these Xbox One X systems myself. $500 is not much in the world of PC hardware.

MoyaJorge I traded in my Xbox one at GameStop. My power brick died, I didn’t want to buy a aftermarket one and a new one was like $70. They gave me a used Xbox One X and $70 credit. Walked out with 1X and a year warranty for $260. Everyone was telling me to wait for the next gen consoles, but I didn’t want to wait that long to game and wasn’t going to spend $70 bucks for a new brick. I feel for the $260 and the year warranty it was a good deal. I have a 65 inch LG 4K UHD Tv and let me say the games look incredible.
True gamer right here, great review, every console(and PC) has its pros and cons. Nothing is perfect. If you can its always best to own 1 of each console(if you can afford it)

I just bought an XBox One X a few weeks ago at the end of the E3 sale ($450). I have a PS4 Pro and love it, but there was ONE thing about the XB1X that finally got me to take the plunge. I'm SO glad I did. But the reason why really surprised me. As good as all the new games are, what BLEW ME AWAY was an old game - Red Dead Redemption. There are just no words to express how good it looks on the XB1X at 4k. It's like I expect Red Dead Redemption 2 will look like. If it was an XBox One game I would have been impressed with this 4k update, but the fact that it's an XBox 360 game is just... stunning.
The upscaled 1080p content isn't bad, but it's the 4k updated games - with or without HDR - that are the jaw droppers. They really do look like PC games on ultra and unless you've got a GTX1080 I really don't think you'll see similar performance to this on a PC.

Xbox will install games faster if you DO NOT downloading updates while installing.
Install the game FIRST, then do the update. It’s not as fast as PS4, but it’s much quicker than what you stated.

@jeff bayes then you are doing something horribly wrong cause Microsoft has like the bet network infrastructure on the market. i use the xbox one s and i get download speeds up to 65 Mbps. my ps4 doesn't and has never gone above 30.

I think it was bug if installing a game and update at the same time it was not the update it was downloading but entire game being downloaded
I just picked up an XboneX this past weekend, really happy with my purchase. I have a 4K TV and it upscaled the old system pretty well, but the native 4K is so nice and crisp, and all of the games I've tried so far have been much smoother. I agree about the install time. I noticed Elder Scrolls Online was 80+ gigs.. don't know if it was like that before, or if the 4K content cranked up the size way higher. I'll probably just be downloading stuff overnight and while at work now.
Forza horizon 4 sold it for me. Xbox X is so much smoother. Selling my PS4 :)
I waited and picked up an X on eBay for $200 this week, couldn’t be happier, works so well with my TCL 4K tv, $215 yay!

Hans Gruber had my x since nov 21, just now did ali get a 4k hdr tv(a fairly inexpensive HiSense 43in one at 298$) and WOW the difference is night and day from my old 2013 1080p tv.

I've been an avid PC gamer since 2013 and have been incrementally upgrading on an annual/bi-annual basis. 6700K, 1080, 165hz 1400p G-sync monitor, the works. I bought the One X to play with some friends on Xbox and my brother, also to return to Halo after many years, and this thing has floored me. Paired with a 4K HDR TV, this thing is just great. Switching back to 30-60 FPS is still a little jarring, but I'm pretty impressed with what Microsoft has done for $500.

I agree 100% with you. I'm an occasionnal gamer and I've had a 360 for 10 years, and wanted to upgrade my console but knew of the Scorpio project and waited for it (BTW Microsoft should have kept that name which is much better than Xbox One X). I love the fact that most of my 360 games will still run on the XB1X. The only negative points about the One X would be 1) I was expecting an AMD Ryzen inside this thing, and not an obsolete CPU and 2) not all games run @4K 60 FPS. Not Far Cry 5 anyway. Probably because the underpowered, but overclocked, Jaguar CPU is unable to cope. Forza 7 however is silky smooth @60 FPS in 4K. Anyway, thanks for a really honest review and for sharing it... going to see part II now.

I purchased an X for Christmas to replace my 360. I also added a 4K television. So far I’m enjoying the visuals on the 4K very much. Satisfied purchaser.....
Have my S sitting beside my X...the X for me and the S for visiting friends and for many titles the difference is simply night and day. December of 2016 I upgraded my PS4 to a Pro and the overall improvement was actually a big disappointment...if I could turn back time, I honestly would not have picked up a Pro. If I was going VR, the Pro is necessary, but the Pro's launch and support was terrible not only by 3rd party, but by even Sony themselves...in fact, the best upgrades provided for the Pro has occurred after they were promised for the Xbox One X. So, Sony Pro "only owners" should be happy for the new Xbox One X's existence. Nevertheless, I have been super busy playing my Scorpio(X) the most, especially regarding multiplatform titles...titles such as Tom Clancy Wild lands? The improvements on the Xbox One X version is "sick" in comparison to the Xbox One S and regular PS4 versions...the visual improvement is like comparing Xbox 360 and Xbox One versions...if you do not believe me or the reviewer, simply check out this new console via a decent 4K display. Regarding my PS4 Pro? I am awaiting the new God of War, have HZD, but the last games I played via my Pro have been the remastered Crash Bandicoot that will be on the Xbox next summer. So, I do like and play both PlayStation and Xbox, that's why I own them both, but hands down prefer gaming on the new Xbox, but this is my opinion, so enjoy what you like, but don't turn a blind eye on competition before properly checking it out.
Mr. SEA i just bought the x voor 395€ with BF5 . Have also the pro 500 million edition. But the xbox is “true 4k” and see the difference between them 2. Xbox best for screen quality though i like the ps4 controller better, feels more solid. No regrets!
You can get a Xbox One X now for $400 with two games it's pretty hard to beat that deal.

Answer:
1- Many titles that are now enhanced to 4k for the Xbox one X have very reduced prices these days
2- GamePass. 150+ Games to download and play as much as you like for 10$ a Month. Now including Microsoft 1st party Launch titles.
You can share your Xbox one X with all family and kids in the living room (for movies and games)
But you can't share (in most cases) your Gaming PC, much less if you need it for work.
Sometimes raw power is not the best thing, when it comes to convenience.

I must admit the Graphics and Visual Seen on the One X are much better than any PC Especialy now 2020 Developer has taken full power A Tested Gears 5 incredible ! Amazing Graphics and Effects and all this for a fraction of Price instead a intire new game pc :p
A fair review, but a couple of points. Is every single PC game 4K? NO!, so that means PCs are not true 4k machines. The sticking point for 4K on the X is CPU bound stuff, as you said they out a CPU in to meat the price point. The next get will probably not have that restriction. RE downloads PS4 PRO has less 4K, HDR, X Enhanced assets, those additions to the game take more date, more data takes more time to down load.
J JD this is true, even PC games that aren't designed to be ran above a certain resolution say 4k where there's literally no option even in the menu... Can be modified to run at literally any resolution you desire with a quick Google search and just aping what the step by step instructions tell you to do. Usually amounts to clicking on a file and typing 10 letters, then starting your game
Great review. I sold my 1080 ti and bought an Xbox one x and extra controller and games. I find I'm using the Xbox way more than I was using the PC. Just way more fun playing with friends on a big 4k tv.

Finally someone pointing it out for the sheep's ! It gaved me satisfaction on a great level to see you touching on some points no one really did in there reviews! Beside you explained what they paying for with there subscription to gold , I would like to add this: Just the hack free online servers alone worth my 60$ , and adding the free monthly games makes it a no brainer!!! Secondly, the controller is just hands down better than PS4 counterpart!!! And I am not just talking about the ergonomics, it is a lot more comfy do... I am talking about double resolution on the sticks, Wich allows us to make much more precise fine movement on the Xbox controller, and really worth mentioning the rumbled triggers , where you can feel how many bullets left your gun under your fingertips. Or feel when your tires loose traction... I had enough arguing with kids calling them self true gamer because they own a PC! I have a PC,I own multiple consoles, I play since the 90's, and I prefer Consol as my priority one mashine to play , simply because I play shooters on competitive level , and hack free is where u want to be if you take it seriously! Plus plug and play is unbeatable. Most of us know how frustrating when you have to tweak your in game settings , testing it with keeping an eye on the frame rate with some sort of program or in game if it's available, just to make it run acceptable!

But you're right, its a task to play with all the settings and get stuff optimized, but it is also very fun when it works perfectly! God bless!

Also I agree the load/ download times are insane on this thing! When swapping for my OG 13" "Xbox fat" to my X. Re downloading for a horizon 3 took 3-4 days of downloading while playing for a few hours a day and pausing when I quit playing for the day. I realize I could've left it in all day to download. But I didn't like the fact of having to do that. I don't like running/ straining my Xbox all day/ multiple days. I always fully shut it down when not in use.
Other than that I'm loving the upgrade.
Going from BFV on the OG where in a plane looking down at the ground everything being blurry and can't make out targets to now with the X I can 100% clearly see enemy soldiers running through a field or hiding behind cover. The distance clarity is incredible for console.

Great and thorough and honest review ! Thanks for that ! I have an X and Love it. I had the S before that and also Loved it, but I definitely am enjoying the X over the S for all the benefits it brings. I Love the faster loading of games that the X has over the S. I really noticed it on Just Cause 3 ! Like it take about 30 seconds to a minute to load some parts on the S and only around 5 to 10 seconds on the X !! that seriously blew me away and I knew then that I had a beast connected to my tv !! Oh by the way, if you want to have faster install times on the X or S when you put the disc in, all you do is put the console on offline mode in the settings and then put the disc in and it will install straight from the disc, instead of having to download it from the internet ! That really takes away all the frustration ! I don't like how that won't work with Xbox 360 games though ! I'm not sure why they don't allow it with Xbox 360 games ? I am enjoying the X with my 1080p tv, and games defintely do look better, but I do wish I had a 4k hdr freesync tv. But that will come in the future as money allows. And yes that is also another amazing advantage of the X.....it has freesync coming to it in the near future !! So that will further enhance the experience as well !! Also it has Dolby Atmos as well which is pretty cool too ! Overall amazing console for the money !! I do wish it had better exclusives like PS4 and PS4 Pro though......wish it had Days Gone and games like the Last of Us. Anyway, I can't afford everything, so it will do for now and I'm overall very happy with it !! Thanks for your honest review and God Bless you always ! :)

I think the reason it won't let you install 360 games in offline mode is because it needs to download a patch to allow said game to run as it's software emulation and not hardware emulation.

Nice review. As an Xboxer and graphic whore I also got the One X Scorpio Edition and so love it. Re-played Dead Space 1&2 and what sharp graphics. Fine particals in the air are noticeable.. Even RUclips looks really sharp.
Am giddily awaiting Far Cry 5. Ships next Tuesday. And I expect it to have medium to high PC graphics quality.
Fantastic! That's what most ppl dont get, its actually hard to notice the difference between high and ultra on PC. So i think the Xbox One X punches a lot of PC's with GTX 1060's and above. Very good commentary, subscribed. I started gaming on a PC when I was 5 years old, which later developed into a hobby. Until xbox 360, I very much didn't see the apeal of consoles, but then it happened. Since then I have owned a PSP, PS3, Wii and PS4, and layed of PC gaming for some time because of lack of money. Last year, before the latest mining craze, I bought a beefy PC when my financial situation improved, and I have a pretty vast library of PC games. I enjoy mouse and keyboard a lot, especially for FPS games and isometric ones. That said, I'm pretty good with a controller too, and I often lay back in my bed and just casually play on my big screen monitor with a Dualshock 4. Also in some cases, the console gameplay experience is "maybe" objectively better then the initial PC release - Diablo 3 comes to mind. Right now I own the PC and a Nintendo Switch, which is a beautiful console, kudos to Nintendo. The 1X is definitely, especially at the moment, a better buy. Is it still (disregarding finances) better for playing FPS games which are well optimized for mouse and keyboard? Absolutely NOT! So there's that.

It's great for 4K gaming and is very good value for money. The best console you can buy atm by far.
But I prefer higher refresh rates at (say) 1440p. The 1X doesn't offer >60Hz output.
Even if native 1440p support with Freesync is coming, you still can't have >60Hz.
Many games are also capped to 30fps, which I particularly dislike.
But some devs are offering a 'performance' mode targetting 60fps now, which is a nice improvement.
Hackers are a big pain for sure and a big disadvanage of the PC platform.

If you hv quality Internet it doesn't take a day to install a game. That is exaggeration.
That depends on your internet speed. I used to have DSL that was never constant (like 6 mbps max) and when I downloaded a 120gb game it took nearly 5 days to fully download everything including updates. Don't try to make an argument over the PlayStation downloads faster than Xbox, not everyone runs super fast internet.

XBOX One X is the best Game Console you can get. Period... I own one and also Own XBOX One S and there is a big difference in performance. I also Own a Gaming PC with GTX 1070 Video Card. And at $500 There is no gaming PC that can be bought that can do that.
David Cole I would have rebuilt my pc for 4k gaming if the parts were not so damn expensive...ended up getting the Xbox one x and as long as you have a 4k hdr tv there should be no complaints.

I agree. Bought 1X mainly for Destiny2 and Forza. It runs perfectly 4k. For 500bucks is a good piece of HW. My desktop is still an old q6600 + 670GTX, good for all I need except latest games, so I had to chose to a new desktop or a console. I preferred console because lower price and I am sick of issue like: upgrade hw, update drivers, manage all the OS, virus, patch... with 1X just power on and you are into 4k HDR 60FPS to play, all the updates are in background. Good.
Bro take the 4k bluray player out of the X and the console is 400 and a lot more powerful than the Pro. The Pro is overpriced

Mine is a Vizio and literally all the options for 4K and hdr and all other settings work for my Xbox :) my tv is about 2 years old and cost only 600 bucks it’s a 55inch. I love my Xbox x the graphics looks way better than on my ps4 :) idk I love everything about it. Just make sure that your tv will support all the options the Xbox needs in order to look amazing. I got lucky lol
I bought a One S as a 4K BluRay Player, that also plays Couch Coop Multiplayer games. Like Castle Crashers, Videoball, Enter the Gungeon and Overcooked. Instead of the X, I got 3 controllers instead. 6 controllers are supported. Still gonna play Singleplayer games and Online Multiplayer stuff on PC.
I mainly game on a gaming laptop i7, rx580 and love my xbox X. Love that Microsoft play anywhere. I buy forza 7, resident evil, and gears 4 on my xbox and Microsoft let's you download the game for free on PC also.
Edit: and even though every body says 4K UHD bluray is irrelevant I love the fact the xbox X has one.

I agree with what is said here. I just got a Xbox X after trading a Nintendo Switch and the X is truly amazing ! I own a PS4 Pro as well and can say while X is really the better machine it doesn’t really blew it away though but if want the best gaming in a console money can buy you get a Xbox if you want more variety of games you get a PS4 Pro. If I had to have only one machine it would be the Xbox though.

Don’t forget that all original Xbox games run at a native 4K breathing new life into them and certain 360 games also get 4K updates. That’s huge to people who love the clarity that comes with 4K and don’t really wanna look at 720p or 480p again.

thank you for your honesty mate. sick and tired of hearing the same old disingenuous PC "master race" fanatics preaching just how much better graphical fidelity is on the PC when for the cost, its just no warranted, and i have a pretty beastly custom PC of my own (bit of a dated GTX 780, but still a very capable card.) its the optimization that's killer on console that PC just doesn't get.
Also PC requires you to pay for Windows and decent anti-virus where as you don't need to worry about on console. And god don't get me started on online hacking and instability my lord. Console for me especially with the new one x is just a far more polished gaming experience, and that's the honest truth.
PSN`s network is way slower than Xbox! It takes days for me to download anything on PSN. I don't know where you live but I have no issues with download speeds on Xbox.
It was going slow because it was installing/downloading at the same time. That's why it never went full speed of my internet even though i was hard wired in. Now its perfectly fine! Loving it :)
I get around 20mb on psn and 50mb on xbox x

I think this has to do with the PS4's wireless tech. On wireless I get double the speeds on my Xbox.
If you're wired, I'd assume the speeds would be comparable.
@amir sharar with the ps4 slim i could see that, as the ps4 slim doesn't utilize 5g wireless all that well. i cannot speak for the pro as i have never used it, but even then it has more to do with the wireless connection to your router.

I just got back into Xbox, I quit playing for a few years,for the most part anyhow. 60$ a year,I know,ain't shit really,BUT I'm tired of Xbox/Microsoft nickel and dimeing me. If I buy something from the store,more often then not,I could of found the same thing cheaper had I just went to wherever and ordered it/bought it. I'm talking like 20-40$ cheaper. To me,that is insane. Everything is also so basic now,nothing is included and if it is, there's usually some sort of catch to it. You can use gamer pass for this,or for that BUUT you also will need gold to play this or that. This stipulation was mentioned before hand,anywhere that I seen anyhow.
