Why Should You Buy an Xbox One in 2024

- The Xbox One is now over a decade old and been replaced by multiple new systems including the current Xbox Series S and Series X. As a result, they are dirt cheap to find and pick up which leads me to the question...is there a use for grabbing and playing one of these today when they're so affordable? Let's talk about playing games, game library, media uses, and how the experience compares to its contemporary the PS4.

My cousin got an Xbone for 70$ and we played Halo together. It was awesome

Ware did u find one for 70?😮

Ebay mostley. Just got a xbox one for 90 with all the cables and controller@@mikejett2733
I got an Xbox One about a year ago. Base model.
I got a Series X a couple months ago and gave my little sister the One. She LOVES it.
Install an SSD in that Xbox One and she will love it more
@@HunteronaBudget I offered her one of my external hardrives, but she said she's fine for now.
@@sageoffire3964 no I mean replace the internal HD with an SSD. The speed increase and smoothness of games is amazing
@@HunteronaBudget Oh. I'm no tech head. I have a friend who'd probably know what you're talking about.
@@sageoffire3964 np. It's a fairly simple process and makes a huge difference. Used this video for the installation as it shows the format process of the SSD and how to disassemble and reassemble the XBOX, including how to install the Xbox OS image

Also would be a good time to replace the thermal paste too and clean out all the dusk on the device too. Have fun
Exactly what I did! Got the vcr 1tb and 10 games for $150. Traded the controller and some of the games that came w/ it for a new series controller did a reset and a quick cleaning and it works great! Highly recommended this approach for casual gamers!
I got mine for $15 🤣 I already have a series x , was on eBay and decided to buy a listing of 2 Xbox ones , the original , in good cosmetic condition. No cables , no controller for $30, $55 on checkout . One was dusty and couldn’t read discs . The other was dusty and had a noisy fan . They got here I connected them and they both did work . I cleaned the one with noisy fan , replaced the fan , paired it with a controller I already had and nb2k17 and madden 17 and sold it on offer up for $140 🤠 I cleaned the one that was dusty and couldn’t read disc and decided to keep it ! It’s basically digital only but I already have a series x for discs or blu rays if I need to pop one in . I already have gamepass , couple of series controllers , so this was a come up in disguise lol still functions well and it freed up space on my series x since I’m using the Xbox one for only Xbox one and 360 and original Xbox games , leaving me more space on my series x for series x/s games only . Anyone who is on a budget , I recommend the Xbox one, yes even the original model as I tested halo infinite on it and still works fine , that’s coming from a diamond 5 player on series x and now on the one occasionally. Great budget option for sure .

Xbox One S gang, so far there hasn't been a huge reason to me to upgrade to a series X. The S is off the table since it doesn't have a disc drive.
My brother just moved back in after unfortunately being homeless due to drugs. (He's doing well getting clean)
He got an Xbox One as a teenager and 10 years later he's gotten back on it and playing EA FC which is helping him keep distracted whilst trying to get sober. It's pretty amazing to me that 10 years later he's still able to play new games which is a good distraction is pretty amazing to me.
hope hes doing well

Hahaha that capacitive button was a monster! Our old golden retriever used to boop it with his snoot or the eject button
Not to mention the library it has or the backwards compatibile games going all the way back to the OG Xbox.
I got an Xbox One a few years ago for like $50 at a pawn shop.
I have a Series S as well, but also a decent library of physical Xbox 360 and some Xbox One games, so that's what I use the Xbox One for occasionally.
I think the last thing I played through fully on it was Red Dead Redemption.
Loved the video, Kevin!
The $100 ones are the good ones
Which one do recommend playing online? For example black ops 2
@@RawwRexxbox one s if your on a budget. Or if you can find a one X. The series x is of course the best but not cheap. I got one around last Christmas and paid over five for a brand new one with extended warranty.
So i can put discs i have from Xbox 360 on it? And I’ll work
@50kkk89 yes, but not every 360 game is compatible. Try searching "Xbox One backwards compatibility game list" and you should be able to find every game that will work
Main reason I got an Xbox one originally was it's also not a bad wireless display that works great with a controller. It means you can remote play a PC on your tv in a usable state of you need to which has been really useful from time to time.
I love your videos thank you for putting so much effort into them
The funniest thing is I actually bought that Xbox one halo 5 limited edition console just recently that’s shown at 0:38 💀
I still got my OG Xbox One as well, same exact big body model. Once I got a PS4 in 2016, I basically put it down completely. Then when I was living with college roommates between 2020-2022 I left it in the living room as our entertainment box since I kept my Series X & PS5 in my room. For streaming vids and movies it did fine, and for our late night high as hell gaming sessions it did great considering we mainly played Rocket League and Jump Force lmao.
From 2017, until December 2023, I gamed exclusively on XBOX One (VCR model). I played so many good games on it, including very demanding games such as Red Dead Redemption 2 and Halo Infinite, all running natively in the XBOX One. Never had an issue. Not only that, but backwards compatibility allowed me to play some great games from OG XBOX and XBOX 360, that I would not had experienced if it wasn't for the XBOX One. Last December I bought a Series X and thought of selling my XBOX One, but decided to leave it as a secondary gaming machine and Blu-Ray player on our second TV.
I've been thinking about this very purchase for the last couple weeks TY
get a one s for 4k video, you also get 1080p passthrough, although if your planning on games 720p/1080p/1440p
Still have my og Xbox one as a secondary system to my Switch and my PC. I use it for casual multiplayer and streaming services
I got my boyfriend a vcr Xbox one and he was thrilled. A handful of current games are still released on it like Prince of Persia, but also you have access to 3 generations of Xbox on that machine with backwards compatibility. He had put down gaming as a hobby for awhile so everything is new to him, even if it’s not a new release.
I got an Xbox One from my brother-in-law for basically $100 a few years ago. Base model and I'm fairly certain he had it since launch but I love it. I don't really care about "4K" or "HDR" or "One X Enhanced", I'm just happy to play the biggest games that came out for that generation.
Xbox one (VCR) is only 1080p. I picked up a white one and placed an ssd inside. You can get the Xbox One logo file offline. When you install a new hard drive, you lose the logo when turning on the console until a new update comes. Star Wars Squadrons still looks great on it.
Games for the One are dirt cheap at GameStop.
I like that I could plug in my switch hdmi into the other hdmi port on the xbox and just use that as a way to play it. It was nice not having to change hdmi over I could just click in the TV app for it
These videos are fun and interesting, seeing how a PS4 or XB1 can run modern games and what deal you are getting for a older system. I know it is not the same thing but I think it would be worth doing a similar video on the Wii U. Those are around $150 and the give you access to the Wii U games that have ported over to Switch. And it plays Wii games. Something to consider. Thanks for the video!
Weird he didn't mention any of the media playback features like 4k disc player and upscale video plus kodi support
Because the OG Xbox one doesn’t not have a 4K disc player
I have a series s and love it, it’s my first actual console and it’s great. I love the price and I only play cod and Fortnite so the storage isn’t an issue and I’m not missing out on the disk drive. The 120 fps is great and the load times is great
bro the xbox one is still one of my favorite consoles maybe because I had more time to spend with that then my 360. I still belive no other console is going to replicate that old feeling for me
360 is infinitely better than the Xbox one, it’s not even comparable. No debate to be had here. Nostalgia is strong but let’s be real shall we…
@@godnamedtay I agree it's just that I had more time to use the one so I believe it is the most memorable personally, I still prefer the 360.
@@sirpugstudios it’s not so much the console, the Xbox one is obv more capable. It’s the games tho. The amount of quality games, and just the quantity of awesome and different genre/style of games that came out for the 360 is nothing short of staggering. Talking Ps2 level list of games here, but better. U should dive into them if u ever have the time.
@@godnamedtay no, I know. I have a 2 360s and I play them all the time now
It’s perfect for casual media playback or even for a increasingly tight budget gamer. If you can find a XBOX ONE S for under $130, you’re getting an Ultra HD 4K blu ray player, plus an insanely large game library. It’s amazing backwards compatibility makes this a hard time to say “No” when your kid wants a game console. It’s too cheap to skip out on the passed- on savings.
Can anyone tel me is ther a xbox 1 that dosent deleate your profiles?
Great video. I loved my Xbox One when I got it in 2016 and about 5 games for about $325. I donated it to my friends son when I upgraded to the One X and he played it for a couple years and had fun with it. When it comes down to it they are way more reliable than early 360s and you can play physical media in them. Good stuff for $70-$80
just picked one up from a pawn shop for 10 bucks with a bent hdmi shield. opened it cleaned it, thermal paste and fixed the port. wotks like a charm!!!
The Xbox One S was my first Xbox console. Loved the backwards compatibility
I still have and play with my Xbox one
Upgrading the internal HDD to a 2.5" SATA SSD is pretty trivial and really only requires a screwdriver, a flash drive, OSU1, and being able to format the SSD to NTFS before installing it in the system. Completely rejuvenated my Xbox One VCR, improved boot and loading times.
I have a 1TB XBOX One and thought on doing this, is it a significant inprovement in your opinion?
Just got a one x with 2 controllers the other day for 70€ and I'm so happy with it to be honest.

How was it 70 im so confused
@@mikejett2733bought it off of a person that said her kids always get the new one so they wanted to get rid of the old ones cuz they were just taking up space. And she gave it all to me for 70€

@@mikejett2733thats all the older ones are going for used. Unless a special edition. The one s had a spike increase on used consoles for a while in 2023 but it fell again too lol
Got one this week for £40 - only had a Switch otherwise. Looking forward to playing GTA V again, and Fortnite/Rocket League at frame rates that don't suck and bit at 720p
I bought an Xbox one this month and got it for $30 with GTA 5 and WWE with it and a controller
How was it 30?
@@mikejett2733I got one for $35 only the cables and with no controller but I had extra laying around so it wasn’t an issue . It is now next to my series x , cheaper than buying expandable storage for the series x and I now have another actual console lol using it for Xbox one games and under , that frees up my series x for only Xbox series games when before I had a mix of everything
I still play on the original Xbox One I got when I was about 13 in middle school as my main system lol, I hopefully will be upgrading to a PC soon
The major reason you should buy this is the price, it can play games from 3 generation and some from this current gen, it's quiet, you only need to swap the HDD for an SSD especially if you play recent games
i would have stayed with the OG X1 had they found a way to make it without the giant power brick
Still use my Xbox one VCR. In fact, that’s why I’m here. I was playing Diablo IV, and I streamed a lot of Starfield.
I do own a series x, but I leave my Xbox one at my parent’s house, and play on it when I visit.
There are a logo like X|S in some game on gamepass, is that mean i cannot play it with xbox one fat ?
about 2.5 years ago for reasons i didn't have a games console so i bought a vcr xbox one for around £50 this was just to play like 6 games i ended up keeping it for like 6 months because all the games i played was good enough around charismas 2022 my little cousin broke his xbox so i gave him that xbox and got myself the series x
Awesome points. Time to dust off the ol VCR
Bro why can’t I seem to access the buttons on my razer controller can you help ?
Series x is a beast
How did you capture gameplay?
I tradedy One X to get my series X back in 2020. I've been wanting to get it back so I got lucky and bought a flawless Xbox One X for $100 with games and a controller bundled.
If you're venturing into the used market, it's a much better deal to get a used Series S for around $150-$200. Smaller footprint, 1440p resolution and current gen level gameplay. Not to mention it's an emulation beast!
Is it still an emulation beast?
Yes@@MisterJIFF
Did u say smaller footprint? Smdh...
Footprint?
@@jimmyjay689Yes, it requires less shelf space than the Xbone VCR.
Which hardware is possible to upgrade in Xbox One?
Theres many factors are definitely worth considering for the One, specifically the S and X imo due to the better hardware which opens up more games to being far more enjoyable:
1. Price as you mentioned which can make the system and its games a great bang for your buck purchase.
2. Disc drive which accepts used games and Smart Access games which dont need an online check vs the Series that forces it to play the same game. Also Bluray and CD playback which baffles me how the PS4/5 got rid of it (just to promote their music streaming app).
3. MS Reward Points which definitely is handy for making games cheaper, I got Halo Infinites BP for free because of it.
Add in an SSD and that thing can provide a ton of fun, but I would certainly avoid the original.
Simple Phil Spencer cross gen gaming policy which more for those 3rd party studios still use HDR tech over series X/S units ability game in Dolby Vision with HDR10 color spectrum technology. In simple words much more colors with more realistic look like AAA First party game like F1 racing or everwild or star field would look.
I got an Xbox One S recently that a coworker didn't want, and it's been a blast rediscovering Xbox/360 games. XB1 games also tend to be even cheaper than PS4 games in my experience, so certain multiplat games like Maneater "feel" like Xbox games to me, if that makes sense.
It's really nice to play exclusive stuff like Hydro Thunder Hurricane and the port of Guardian Heroes too.
The load times ARE pretty crazy though, but I've adapted. XB1 is a system I let start up while I brush my teeth, warm up food, etc. 😅
Also, I DID have the Xbox One VCR first, and overall enjoyed it. Just moved to the One S since it was being given away. I gave my One VCR to a friend and he loves it.
I need help finding HDMI 1.4 monitors for my Xbox One but can’t find any
Put an ssd on the xbone.
Does the Xbox one s have a disc drive can I play physical game on it I don’t know what to buy the Xbox one or one s for the Xbox one I won’t have to spend hundreds of dollars on games on the Xbox one s I will right? Help
Having almost exclusively played games one the Nintendo switch since 2017 I have been entertaining exactly this solution to catch up on a lost generation off games before maybe splashing out for a ps5 to catch up on those exclusives.
I got an OG Xbox One for free cause the disk drive was bad and was sluggish. Replaced the disk drive, formatted and installed an SSD, and redid the thermal paste and that machine is awesome. Plays 360 games and newer games and boots insanely fast
Kevin is the Master Chief!!!
I still have the xbox one x gears of war edition and I love that thing I still play it and have good times with it😊
I tend to cloud game more on a small screen. E.g. mobile. I’m tempted to upgrade my Xbox one with an ssd. Speed up boot time at least.
This is perfect video because I sold my consoles a while ago and I'm contemplating on getting this for now so I have something to play. Not sure which version to get though.
I can always get a PS5 in the future but since I gotta budget I still do want something for now and I've actually never owned an Xbox before. I don't even have my Steam Deck either so no pc games for me atm. I've had PS4 and Switch but I sold them now I got nothing beside a PS3 😭
Its not just about cloud gaming as some of the newer titles run really well on xbox one like Hogwarts legacy and fortnite FH 5 look really good RE 4 remake would run perfectly on xbox one x but given the older xbox one the one x is suffering a early death as the Xbox one x was the world's most powerful console back in 2018/19
Or just buy a used Series S and get Game Pass.
Physical games are still important to some people in the event that we don't have an Internet connection. Even if it's just a temporary outage. I'm glad I went back to buying blu rays and physical games again. Every now and then when I'm off and there's an Internet outage out of the blue I have games and movies that I don't need Internet to use.
@@JustinTheGreatof that is the case just get the One X 😂
If you're really going to rely on Game pass then you might as well get a One and spend less cash, a Series S will not do anything when streaming that the One can't.
In the UK you can get a Series S second hand for £80. I’ve seen then go for as low as £60 on Facebook marketplace.
I have bought a XboneS for 150, which was the cheapest I could find. Wonderful purchase, have been using it for a year now. Gamepass has a large library of games and most xbox OG and 360 games run on my console just fine.
Armored core 6, lies of P and persona 3 Reloaded are all great new releases which I have been enjoying. Lastly, most xbox games go on super cheap compared to the ps4 ones. Meaning Xbone (w/s or x) is super great for those on a budget.
As someone still rocking a Xbox 360 in 2024, this would still be a decently big upgrade especially now that the marketplace is closing. I'm gonna go for a series S tho alongside my "gaming" PC for my studies
guys can u guys tell me if a xbox one is good bc it is my first xbox and I think it is old but I only want to play Fortnite but can It play Fortnite ? and tel me if the console is good or not than ya.

Thanks, i have an old 360 which i used to play cod and forza about once a month, the ps5 and the series x are going for around $500 was thinking of getting the one s for $200 or the one x for $230
What about Xbox one s, I’m buying it is it good ?
Bro how tf does my xbox one install games faster than my one s..
If you're a little more technical and are comfortable taking the Xbox One apart, I highly recommend dropping in an SSD. The difference in the loading times and just overall responsiveness, even on just the home screen, is night and day. I did this on my old One X and don't regret it a bit. You can get a decent 512GB model for like 40 or 50 bucks if not less. Maybe that cuts too deep into the value proposition of such an inexpensive box, but if you can make it make sense, I wouldn't hesitate.
Picked up a launch model w/ controller for $60 just to play my OG/360 library… worth it
i only ever use mine now to play gta online. still holds up at least to my standards 💀 not buying a new xbox for one game when i got a pc
I just bought a NES OLED Switch because Xbox went away from physical media. I guess I finally am "that old" because paying money for a digital game that I always have to be hooked up to the internet really drives me away. Plus growing up and trading NES games was the way to go! With a digital game, I can't ever recoup any money.
Thinking about picking up a second hand Xbox One (yet again) and keep that around for the Xbox games that I always loved.
I can't be the only one who realizes that Kevin's notifications are still disabled

8th gen was wild because Nintendo should have called the “Wii U” the “Wii 2”, & Microsoft should have called the “Xbox One”, the “Xbox 720”
No, literally no they shouldn’t. Don’t quit your current job.
If you have decent internet cloud game pass games are very playable…. Kevin just started to talk about this as I’m writing it 🤦♂️

Buy a Xbox One X , the other models are outdated
@mcg160 i still use mine for the indies and older games in the backlog in another room. Still plays alot of games at 4k and a lot in 60fps
Great console paired with a ssd to help the loads
Looove my one x to this day. Installed an internal ssd and I can easily see myself continuing to use it for the next five years
Using my One X with an SSD and don't plan on retiring it any time soon
That one x timer chip though...black screen of death.
@@HughesburnerYeah, happened to my. My day one 'VCR' Xbox One is still working. My later purchased One X died on me not long ago.
Xbox series x has stellar compatibility for last gen games, but price wise Xbox one hardware is a great bargain right now. The games are cheap and fun, I’m still going back and playing a lot of Xbox one games I missed out on.
I can play Lost Judgment on xbox one but not Judgment 😕
I remember my brother got me xbox one back in 2013 it last very long time keep conditions but unfortunately my xbox died at this year 2024 sadly back January time because the motor disc drive dead inside but I got newer console playstation 5
Worth xbox one for collection or for gaming ??
Collecting, most games are boring and too many remakes
My Xbox One S was an Impulse buy essentially, not much used, partly due to the laggy UI and it is weak compared to my PS4Pro. I was considering to sell it.
I now replaced the HDD against a SSD, got a few games for it and now will I keep it. Partly because it is the only UHD/4K Bluray player I have. Good box when given a chance. And a SSD.
I picked up an extra Xbox one 2016 fat model for 45 bucks and an elite 2 controller
I have an Xbox one halo edition 1tb and a series s!
I think everyone should own an XBOX ONE. One of my all time favorite Xbox'.
