I have a lone feather in a 55 g she is 7 inches or more 5 years old..I'm looking for tankmates, wondering if I could get one 3 inch baby endlicheri senegal.. or mbunas .. what do you say.. for three years before I had black skirts with it..

Hello! Thank you for your question! While a bichir would work with one compatibility wise (I have one with mine), I think that a 55 gallon is too small for one long term. Eventually you’d have to upgrade to a larger tank or rehome him.
As for mbunas I think that they would work, you’d just have to monitor to make sure none of them become too aggressive. I have a video detailing my experience mixing mbunas and peacocks and there is some advice in there on how to diffuse aggression that can be applied to African cichlids in general that could be useful.
I hope that helps and if you have any more questions please feel free to ask!

I see you have a red tailed black shark in there?
Does it cause any problems with the featherfin squeakers?
I was thinking of getting a Red tailed black shark to go with my Buenos aires tetras and fetherfins

I have never experience any issues between the feather fin Cats & my Red Tailed Shark! They do tend to be more territorial than a Featherfin so I would be cautious with the Aires Tetras but they are fairly hardy so with a large enough tank and large enough group of them I think it would work out well!
Another option could be a rainbow shark as they are generally less territorial

Are the fat bellys a normal feature for these fish?
I was a little concerned about my two males looking a little fat today after feeding?

Yes and No, I like to joke that these are my "Basketball's" because they tend to get larger bellies, however their bellies should not be dropping down below their anal fins or anything

Have you ever had problems with white spots showing up on the head and a long the lateral line before? I have read it could be lateral line erosion. It's not ich since it's not a raised bump and their whiskers are in good shape. Just upgraded to a stabilized 55gal from a 15gal. So I assume stress from tank and bad food variety. Added a catfish pellet and frozen bloodworms to feeding reg as well. Any suggestions on your end?

How pronounced are these white spots, also how old are they? If you look closely in the video mine also have some white spots near their head and down their lateral line and developed them as they grew. They shouldn’t be super pronounced or all over the body but if the fish is acting regular otherwise I wouldn’t be too concerned.
My advice would be Keep up on water changes and monitor for any other symptoms and see if they become more pronounced or appear to be raised or indented. Lateral line erosion typically seems like a pin hole or indent which can appear white but would seem indented.
Also for food I have found that mine LOVE massivore Delite pellets. Heavily recommend them and they are very healthy for them.

@@OfcCaptainGaming oh gosh like 4ish years we have had him with a albino shark sharing a 15. My pH is high ATM so just working on getting a peat moss bag to try to slowly lower it. The white spots are very small like i seen in the video but mine does have just white coloration on the head as well. Thank you so much for the advise I will look up that pellet as well.

Oh perfect that is the type I'm currently using as well as a frozen cubed blood shrimp which he sucks up super fast as it dissolves in the water column. Do you do two feedings a day since these are bigger fish? Or would the mentality of once a day be better to prevent over feeding

@@DrTrench HA! This is actually CaptainAquatics, I just realized I replied with an alternate account!
I’d just keep an eye on it. If he’s acting normally I wouldn’t be too concerned

I'm moving mine into a 90 gallon from a 72 bow front. What would be the best substrate for him 🤔

      Hello!
I’ve kept mine in almost every type of substrate. Personally I’ve found them to do best with sand as that allows them to dig around easier, but they seem to do fine with pretty much any substrate!
