Hi you two, when I first became diabetic, I was disappointed with my new menus. Asked my doctor about fruit. He said eat all the fruit I desired! I ear fruit all day long for almost 3 weeks. One afternoon at work I was feeling dizzy and light headed. My friend took me to the urgent care and found my blood sugar was 552!!! They had me drink sooooooo much water and shot me with something (insulin?) and after 2-3 hours my sugar came down to around 140. After that I’ve only eaten 2 servings of fruit each day. So much for a family doctor’s advice on a diabetic diet. Thanks for a very interesting video!!!!! God bless!

Alot of Dr's are not taught the truth. It's not healthy to eat mounds of fruit. I'm glad your OK now.

Yeah your doctor gave the worst advice. Fruit all of the time isn't good for anyone. Now don't get deceived. Fruit is still healthy for us. But only in the right amounts at the right time. In fact my specialist told to still enjoy fruit. But to watch for the serving and crabs and I will be fine. And that has proven true. In fact some fruits like berries, small oranges and watermelon all help to keep my sugar level again in the right servings.

You're doing a great service with these videos. It's so hard for people to understand that fruit is often harming them, but the numbers don't lie. I like how you encourage everyone to test themselves and see what works for them. The only problem is that we need an at home insulin test to get the full picture. Hopefully that will be on the market in the near future.

I've started testing myself after meals and snacks more often I've lost 60 lbs on Keto in 6 months. I'm off my diabetes medicine and my blood pressure has greatly improved! I had purchased some sugar free chocolate that was made with sucrose. I was curious to see if my blood sugar would go up from 3 pieces. It only went up 2 points. Barely anything I know sucrose isn't the best ingredient and probably isn't technically keto but I didn't budge my blood sugar. I also made spaghetti with butternut squash and it was DELICIOUS!! My blood sugar barely budged with a good serving of it. I'm trying to get my dad to watch your channel since he isn't doing much to bring his diabetes under control.

    • @markbeiser
      @markbeiser 5 лет назад +2

I'm assuming you are talking about sucralose, since sucrose is regular sugar.
I don't think small quantities of sucralose now and again will hurt, but if you go crazy with sucralose(Splenda) products, it will negatively affect your gut bacteria.

The right way to see what effect a fruit has on you blood sugar is to test at 15 min 30 min 60 min 90 min 120 min and that will give you a good indication of what the fruit you eat does to your blood sugar, fruit has lots of sugar and spikes sugar quick in the blood so you need to start at 15 min, Dennis you and your Beautiful wife are doing life and limb saving work you know you will always get the haters it don’t matter how correct you are with your tests, love your videos they show real world info not just hearsay you prove everything you talk about and I for one thank you very much👍👍👍🙏🙏🙏👍👍👍

Dennis, I have a sugestion. How about testing honey the same way. Honey to most is all sugar. While it maybe 80% sugar, honey contains different sugars: Glucose, Sucrose, Maltose etc, in different %'s. Each sugar is processed differently in the body. If interested I can help with researching quantities. Is the sugar found in fruit fructose or fruit sugar? Inquiring minds want to know.

Insoline resistance is the key factor. The faster your blood sugar raises the hungrier you get, the more you eat, and hunger remains even when your full.
2hrs after is good to know for measuring how well your body is adapting to perhaps a specific diet.
I dont enjoy Keto but I'm learning to love it due to not feeling hungry all-the-time. Yes, I miss fruit. But I dont miss my body reaction to it.
My husband can eat fruit and not be hungry all day. But he doesn't have insoline resistance. He also doesn't crave fruit or any particular food. I can't relate my physical dietary needs to his dietary responses.
Thankyou for providing these tests. I hope you get back to low carb soon and spare yourself any further health issues.

If were to check only 2 hours, you may not see your rise (spikes) and think the food is OK. So, I say you are doing valid tests for us with also the 30 minutes and 1 hour checks. Keep up the great videos on testing various foods. take care.

I try to stick with blueberries in my protein shakes. I need to test though and see what my peaks are. Thanks for this information. I use to eat an apple a day. I craved them! I don't do that now, but I need to test myself on that fruit too. I know bananas are off limits, but I miss them!

Have to say: I love the taste of papayas and bananas. Have never had a "weight issue" - been always lean. But, just realized, after following dozens of these videos, on insulin resistance and high carb/high sugar intake - I've not eaten more than 1 fruit at a time! It just seemed like the natural thing to do! For example: That large banana, it would be half after brunch/lunch, other half kept cold in the refrigerator, for 4 or 5 hours later, for evening. The same for most everything else. Even if all that fruit was made into a big fruit salad - I'd divide it into roughly 3 parts, eaten with the next meal:) But, I can see how the sugar index readings do show up problems for people who are ignorant of their condition, before and after. I feel that every GP must acknowledge how diet related health issues could be helped/prevented, by a strong referral to a dietician at the initial stages.

No one ever developed cardiovascular diseases from eating too many whole fruits... It's all the other crap in their diet that begins the process. You cannot overeat whole foods, however you can overeat refined/processed and laboratory created food products, which most people do.

Thanks for doing these videos, it took me years of trying to figure out what was wrong with me, often got my blood work done but always on a fasted state so always came back good, until I seen your video and got my own testing kid and turns out any higher carb food raises it over 200 and fruit for about 2 hours that it stays above 200, so thank you so much 😊

Dr Fung explains why fructose is bad for a diabetic. It take 13 times more effort for your liver to process it, and your liver is the only thing in your body that can process it. When I realized that, my weight loss and sugar levels dropped dramatically.

I think the Fructose in fruit is somewhat curtailed/balanced when eating the whole fruit due to the fiber in the fruit itself. Drinking fruit juice however loses much of the fiber so Fructose from fruit juice is worse than eating the fruit itself. I was just watching a video showing this recently. Still even eating whole fruit must be watched by a diabetic as demonstrated here.

Bananas are actually some of the lowest fructose fruit. They are mostly sucrose and glucose. Apples and mangos, on the other hand, are very high in fructose and would need processing in the liver. It would still raise your blood sugar and probably not good for diabetics regardless, but it's not as bad as the other fruit (in moderation).

When my daughter was first diagnosed with type 2 diabetes she was testing at one hour and her numbers were high when she ate something she shouldn't but it's how we found out what she could and couldn't eat until we figured out how the carbs, net carbs and all the other neat things that came along with that. The doctor looked at her testing and said she needed to start testing at 2 hours rather than 1 hour and we discovered that when she ate things that she wasn't supposed to have that her numbers were even higher than at 1 hour.

    - You should try intermittent fasting every day for at least 16 hours.
    - Eat high glycemic fruits only before a workout if you're trying to maintain your weight or bulk up
    - Eat a carb loaded meal right after your workout (120g of startch + 50g fructose should be enough) if you wanna build some muscle.
    - Eat a high fat, moderate protein and some veggies for the rest of your day.
By workout I mean HIGH INTENSITY (heavy weight training or HIIT session).
Low steady cardio should not be rewarded with carbs. These are great during the morning while fasted (burns fat like crazy).
If you know you're going to a celebration to eat some cheat meals, do 20 squats before start eating to improve your insulin sensitivity and try to do a brisk walk 1h after that meal.
After knowing all that, here comes the cheat bonus.
Apple Cider Vinegar is well known for lowering blood sugar levels.
Cinnamon also controls blood sugar levels.
Some fiber supplements can also blunt BS.
Use some turmeric with black pepper to reduce your inflammation.
    You're welcome.

Valencia oranges, sprouted bread, and hummus are the only carbs that work for me. I’m not diabetic, but I know I’m very susceptible to diabetes. I eat as much whole food plant based foods as I can with an emphasis on plant fats and protein. Tofu is amazing. No animal products and no seed oils either!

Eat a carb loaded meal right after your workout = pure bullshit, all you need is amino acids, fats, protien! no carbs
Eat high glycemic fruits only before a workout if you're trying to maintain your weight or bulk up = i build muscle while omad so this thoery is also BIG BULLSHIT
THE BODY DOESNT NEED ANY CARBS STOP TRYING TO MAKE CARB EATING HEALTY WTF

What I've always been told was to test 2 hours from when you start eating... not after you're finished eating... I believe the reasoning behind the 2 hour mark is that with most normal people, their BGL will rise after a meal.. but after two hours, it will have gone back down to normal... but with diabetics like us.. even after two hours, our BGL will still not have fallen back down... so after an hour, both normal and diabetic people will have high BGLs.. but the real measure that shows the difference is after 2 hours... So, your way finds the highest point... the 2 chour way shows whether your BGL went back to normal, like normal people, or not.... Just a different way of looking at things.... Love your videos. Cheers from Egypt :)
