Hi you two, when I first became diabetic, I was disappointed with my new menus. Asked my doctor about fruit. He said eat all the fruit I desired! I ear fruit all day long for almost 3 weeks. One afternoon at work I was feeling dizzy and light headed. My friend took me to the urgent care and found my blood sugar was 552!!! They had me drink sooooooo much water and shot me with something (insulin?) and after 2-3 hours my sugar came down to around 140. After that I’ve only eaten 2 servings of fruit each day. So much for a family doctor’s advice on a diabetic diet. Thanks for a very interesting video!!!!! God bless!
Yeah your doctor gave the worst advice. Fruit all of the time isn't good for anyone. Now don't get deceived. Fruit is still healthy for us. But only in the right amounts at the right time. In fact my specialist told to still enjoy fruit. But to watch for the serving and crabs and I will be fine. And that has proven true. In fact some fruits like berries, small oranges and watermelon all help to keep my sugar level again in the right servings.
Sir, may God enlighten you more and don't forget you are doing the work of Him that sent you. Please don't mind the negative people. I am also using this opportunity to say kudos to my Nigerian sister. God bless you all.

You're doing a great service with these videos. It's so hard for people to understand that fruit is often harming them, but the numbers don't lie. I like how you encourage everyone to test themselves and see what works for them. The only problem is that we need an at home insulin test to get the full picture. Hopefully that will be on the market in the near future.
I've started testing myself after meals and snacks more often I've lost 60 lbs on Keto in 6 months. I'm off my diabetes medicine and my blood pressure has greatly improved! I had purchased some sugar free chocolate that was made with sucrose. I was curious to see if my blood sugar would go up from 3 pieces. It only went up 2 points. Barely anything I know sucrose isn't the best ingredient and probably isn't technically keto but I didn't budge my blood sugar. I also made spaghetti with butternut squash and it was DELICIOUS!! My blood sugar barely budged with a good serving of it. I'm trying to get my dad to watch your channel since he isn't doing much to bring his diabetes under control.

I appreciate you mentioning in your videos that we are all different. There are folks out there that think there's only one way for everyone. And that is just not true.
Insoline resistance is the key factor. The faster your blood sugar raises the hungrier you get, the more you eat, and hunger remains even when your full. 2hrs after is good to know for measuring how well your body is adapting to perhaps a specific diet. I dont enjoy Keto but I'm learning to love it due to not feeling hungry all-the-time. Yes, I miss fruit. But I dont miss my body reaction to it. My husband can eat fruit and not be hungry all day. But he doesn't have insoline resistance. He also doesn't crave fruit or any particular food. I can't relate my physical dietary needs to his dietary responses. Thankyou for providing these tests. I hope you get back to low carb soon and spare yourself any further health issues.
Very interesting video! I'm learning a lit from all of these videos, which I really needed! I believe God sent these to me because my blood sugar has been consistently so very high. I'm working on turning this all around, with my work and Gods help. 🙏
Thanks to you guys! I started doing my own blood sugar testing. I will suggest not to block the ignorants but use criticism to fudge ahead! Remember what apostle Paul said about criticism! Good luck 🍀👍 to you and your beautiful wife!
Mr.Dennis I love watching your videos! You really explain the process of diabetes very clear! You are a God send! Also you have a very beautiful wife! Keep up the good work. God bless you both!!!☺
I have learn that if I count my carbs then I can have one apple, like right now I've had 4 carbs in my vegtables and 1 for my drink and coffee so I'm ok to have an apple with crisp on top of 4 carbs pie strips so it's counting carbs for me to see if I can have an apple. I love your show!
I was eating Bananas like there is no tomorrow after watching your Vlog I'm not bringing Bananas home, Mr. Dennis, before watching your Vlog I did not understand how sugar works in our body now it is so clear what is Diabetes what a good demo Thanks again!
Same with me too. I too used to eat a lot of bananas. Even now sometimes I am tempted to eat bananas. I too love eating fruits and can survive on it the whole day. I eat papaya regularly most mornings on empty stomach and sometimes apples too. Don't know if they are ok or not.
sir you should not be eatin 2 bananas .yuor sugar willreally go high.moderation is the key.me of the banana is big i just eat half i willeat the other half after 2 hrs.
@ Juanita Paica I tend to avoid banana now. Berries are better. But yes for a diabetic or person watching sugar carbs. Portion for a banana is 1/2 medium of the fruit. I use to love banana chips.
Your reading was ok right before you ate.. Then you tested your sugars after... Those readings are the start of type 2 diabetes,, your pancreas is failing.. It is normal to get a sugar surge when you eat but not like that.. The girls readings look fine.. I had rebound hypoglycemia.. Then i was diagnosed with impaired fasting glucose.. Youre not supposed to feel the sugar swings at that level.. That level means your pancreas is trying to cope
Your wife is lovely. I ate a half sweet potatoes 🍠 and my bs was up by 30 over normal. Low carb, no sugar is the only way to go. I test after two. I’m so happy I found keto.
Another great video. You HAVE put yourself through the range!!It kills me when people say "Can you do THIS test or that test"!? WE...need to be checking ourselves to see WHAT and HOW the foods we are eating... affects US!! Personal responsibility...!!
I ate a large bowl of oatmeat with milk for breakfast. My morning number was 123... 30 minutes after eating it JUMPED to 269!! I'll definitely test every 30 minutes to see how long it takes to come back to earth!!!
I really enjoy all the testing videos you do on various food groups. From other videos I have watched, seems our blood sugar levels spike up within 30 minutes to the first hour. If were to check only 2 hours, you may not see your rise (spikes) and think the food is OK. So, I say you are doing valid tests for us with also the 30 minutes and 1 hour checks. Keep up the great videos on testing various foods. take care.
Hi the information was very helpful I am per diabetic but my husband is diabetic and am having a hard time getting him to eat properly. As soon as my back is turned he will find all kinds of things to eat. So am playing your videos loud enough for him to hear hope he listen well
interesting! Thanks, I do "Believe" (not know) that with some protein and, choosing only one fruit - equivalent, vs three, might allow a diabetic to enjoy some fruit. Also, some fruits have a lower glycemic effect. Thank you for the videos, it is nice to see a real time test by you two wonderful people!!
Dennis, you have a serious problem with your videos: Benedicta is upstaging you without saying a word; her very presence steals the show. JUST KIDDING! She is a jewel and and huge part of your success. Bless you both!
I try to stick with blueberries in my protein shakes. I need to test though and see what my peaks are. Thanks for this information. I use to eat an apple a day. I craved them! I don't do that now, but I need to test myself on that fruit too. I know bananas are off limits, but I miss them!
Have to say: I love the taste of papayas and bananas. Have never had a "weight issue" - been always lean. But, just realized, after following dozens of these videos, on insulin resistance and high carb/high sugar intake - I've not eaten more than 1 fruit at a time! It just seemed like the natural thing to do! For example: That large banana, it would be half after brunch/lunch, other half kept cold in the refrigerator, for 4 or 5 hours later, for evening. The same for most everything else. Even if all that fruit was made into a big fruit salad - I'd divide it into roughly 3 parts, eaten with the next meal:) But, I can see how the sugar index readings do show up problems for people who are ignorant of their condition, before and after. I feel that every GP must acknowledge how diet related health issues could be helped/prevented, by a strong referral to a dietician at the initial stages.
No one ever developed cardiovascular diseases from eating too many whole fruits... It's all the other crap in their diet that begins the process. You cannot overeat whole foods, however you can overeat refined/processed and laboratory created food products, which most people do.
Thanks so much for very informative video! It helps to clear out the theory that I heard so many times, that is fructose doesn't raise insulin, only glucose does. I can't thank you enough!
Every time I'm watching your interesting blood sugar test, I'm happy because you share a lot of thing's, I'm Diabetes for two years, and I am not happy, with in that year, but when I try to search more here in RUclips, and I watch your topic about Diabetes it's very interesting, and I follow what you share in your video, my blood sugar was lower than 113 to 98, that's why I'm very happy, and my doctor said my blood sugar was good now. Thank you so much every time I watch your video, I always repeat it. Because it's very interesting for me.
Interesting!! Thank you sir.. I was, always confused when eating friuts my blood sugar would rise so much, more then when I would eat my low carb meal .!!!
Very much needed information for diabetics, and like that your covering the different foods and the effects on people, this has been very helpful,so thankful for your efforts, and what a lucky man you are, your wife is lovely!
Thanks for doing these videos, it took me years of trying to figure out what was wrong with me, often got my blood work done but always on a fasted state so always came back good, until I seen your video and got my own testing kid and turns out any higher carb food raises it over 200 and fruit for about 2 hours that it stays above 200, so thank you so much 😊
You do an awesome job Dennis. just had to rib you a bit about your lovely wife. I have learned so much from your videos. Most people are so uninformed about blood sugar and what it does to the body when it is out of control. You are doing a public service and i appreciate that.
Dr Fung explains why fructose is bad for a diabetic. It take 13 times more effort for your liver to process it, and your liver is the only thing in your body that can process it. When I realized that, my weight loss and sugar levels dropped dramatically.
I think the Fructose in fruit is somewhat curtailed/balanced when eating the whole fruit due to the fiber in the fruit itself. Drinking fruit juice however loses much of the fiber so Fructose from fruit juice is worse than eating the fruit itself. I was just watching a video showing this recently. Still even eating whole fruit must be watched by a diabetic as demonstrated here.
Bananas are actually some of the lowest fructose fruit. They are mostly sucrose and glucose. Apples and mangos, on the other hand, are very high in fructose and would need processing in the liver. It would still raise your blood sugar and probably not good for diabetics regardless, but it's not as bad as the other fruit (in moderation).
@Raymond Max You can check : only whole fruits can heal diabetic . You can check from the author 80/10/10 Our body need all vitamin's , we can get from real fruits n veggie. We need postasium 4700 mg per day. Where can we get that ?
Very informative info love your videos. always give good ideas in advice keep them coming... learn alot treating my type 2 plan on reversing it thru diet, exercising and cutting carbs to a minimum thanks Sir
You are right, I thought fruit was good for you, it is, but having too much is not good for diabetics, Thank you for sharing, love the information your giving, keep up the good work!
When my daughter was first diagnosed with type 2 diabetes she was testing at one hour and her numbers were high when she ate something she shouldn't but it's how we found out what she could and couldn't eat until we figured out how the carbs, net carbs and all the other neat things that came along with that. The doctor looked at her testing and said she needed to start testing at 2 hours rather than 1 hour and we discovered that when she ate things that she wasn't supposed to have that her numbers were even higher than at 1 hour.
SOB traditional doctor slowly killed my father. He knew my dad was diabetic and told him to eat lots of bananas for potassium to control his blood pressure.😔🤬
Hollo Sor amd and God bless you. i have watched your videos over the years. When i became a diabetic first, i was trying hard to reverse my diabotied, but i was not really succes ful. I wonder if you had any success ?
What if you have just 1 regular size banana or a small apple by itself? How would you do then? What if you have a piece of fruit with a regular meal? Would you mind testing this theory? Love y'all so much, God bless🙏😇
- You should try intermittent fasting every day for at least 16 hours. - Eat high glycemic fruits only before a workout if you're trying to maintain your weight or bulk up - Eat a carb loaded meal right after your workout (120g of startch + 50g fructose should be enough) if you wanna build some muscle. - Eat a high fat, moderate protein and some veggies for the rest of your day. By workout I mean HIGH INTENSITY (heavy weight training or HIIT session). Low steady cardio should not be rewarded with carbs. These are great during the morning while fasted (burns fat like crazy). If you know you're going to a celebration to eat some cheat meals, do 20 squats before start eating to improve your insulin sensitivity and try to do a brisk walk 1h after that meal. After knowing all that, here comes the cheat bonus. Apple Cider Vinegar is well known for lowering blood sugar levels. Cinnamon also controls blood sugar levels. Some fiber supplements can also blunt BS. Use some turmeric with black pepper to reduce your inflammation. You're welcome.
Valencia oranges, sprouted bread, and hummus are the only carbs that work for me. I’m not diabetic, but I know I’m very susceptible to diabetes. I eat as much whole food plant based foods as I can with an emphasis on plant fats and protein. Tofu is amazing. No animal products and no seed oils either!
Eat a carb loaded meal right after your workout = pure bullshit, all you need is amino acids, fats, protien! no carbs Eat high glycemic fruits only before a workout if you're trying to maintain your weight or bulk up = i build muscle while omad so this thoery is also BIG BULLSHIT THE BODY DOESNT NEED ANY CARBS STOP TRYING TO MAKE CARB EATING HEALTY WTF
You obviously are a young person who thinks he knows what is good for the rest of us who have been on this path a long time and seen exactly what causes diabetes. You're welcome.
What I've always been told was to test 2 hours from when you start eating... not after you're finished eating... I believe the reasoning behind the 2 hour mark is that with most normal people, their BGL will rise after a meal.. but after two hours, it will have gone back down to normal... but with diabetics like us.. even after two hours, our BGL will still not have fallen back down... so after an hour, both normal and diabetic people will have high BGLs.. but the real measure that shows the difference is after 2 hours... So, your way finds the highest point... the 2 chour way shows whether your BGL went back to normal, like normal people, or not.... Just a different way of looking at things.... Love your videos. Cheers from Egypt :)

God bless you both!!!☺
Thanks for the encouragement, Jennifer! God bless!
You're welcome, Indira!
Same with me too. I too used to eat a lot of bananas. Even now sometimes I am tempted to eat bananas. I too love eating fruits and can survive on it the whole day. I eat papaya regularly most mornings on empty stomach and sometimes apples too. Don't know if they are ok or not.
Everything in moderation
sir you should not be eatin 2 bananas .yuor sugar willreally go high.moderation is the key.me of the banana is big i just eat half i willeat the other half after 2 hrs.
@ Juanita Paica I tend to avoid banana now. Berries are better. But yes for a diabetic or person watching sugar carbs. Portion for a banana is 1/2 medium of the fruit. I use to love banana chips.
Love this video. It was helpful to see your numbers at base and at 30 minute increments. Your wife is so adorable! Thank you.
Excess Insulin release is highly dangerous. Great vid
You got that right! Thanks, Grant!
@@ДьяволАльянс he's clearly beating his diabetes through diet.
@@beatdiabetes3 sir u r diabetic?
@@beatdiabetes3 So Eating fruit Peak at 30-40 mins. Eating Food or Lunch Peak at 1:00--1:20 hour.
This is the Right Time frames..👍🙏
Your wife is lovely. I ate a half sweet potatoes 🍠 and my bs was up by 30 over normal. Low carb, no sugar is the only way to go. I test after two. I’m so happy I found keto.
I just found this channel and I am hooked 😂
Same!!
Me too haha
Me too, and I'm not even diabetic! Hahaha
I agree 110% with you, Dennis ! A hug to your wife !
Exactly!!!
By 3 hours it was back down to 114
Thank you so much, a lot of simplified information about fruit and diabetes, your explanation makes sense
So am playing your videos loud enough for him to hear hope he listen well
I believe it’s important that even non-diabetics pay attention to blood sugar and how it works. It’s part of eating and living mindfully.
I really appreciate your testing with foods. Your just a blessing to share your knowledge. Thank you!
You are welcome!
interesting!
Thanks - she is a real asset. If only she didn't take so much time to get ready for these videos...
Again….great content ! and pointing out that High Insulin is a danger in itself was excellent information.
That was an eye-opener. Thank you.
I try to stick with blueberries in my protein shakes. I need to test though and see what my peaks are. Thanks for this information. I use to eat an apple a day. I craved them! I don't do that now, but I need to test myself on that fruit too. I know bananas are off limits, but I miss them!
Thank you guys!! Very helpful….
You may not be a prophet Dennis but you my friend are a saint.
Thanks so much for very informative video! It helps to clear out the theory that I heard so many times, that is fructose doesn't raise insulin, only glucose does. I can't thank you enough!
This may be the best channel on youtube
Every time I'm watching your interesting blood sugar test, I'm happy because you share a lot of thing's, I'm Diabetes for two years, and I am not happy, with in that year, but when I try to search more here in RUclips, and I watch your topic about Diabetes it's very interesting, and I follow what you share in your video, my blood sugar was lower than 113 to 98, that's why I'm very happy, and my doctor said my blood sugar was good now. Thank you so much every time I watch your video, I always repeat it. Because it's very interesting for me.
That's wonderful! Thanks for sharing.
Love u both! So helpful and easy to follow. God Bless.
Interesting!! Thank you sir.. I was, always confused when eating friuts my blood sugar would rise so much, more then when I would eat my low carb meal .!!!
Thank you!
You all are a beautiful couple. Thank you all for the nutrition information
Very much needed information for diabetics, and like that your covering the different foods and the effects on people, this has been very helpful,so thankful for your efforts, and what a lucky man you are, your wife is lovely!
Thanks for doing these videos, it took me years of trying to figure out what was wrong with me, often got my blood work done but always on a fasted state so always came back good, until I seen your video and got my own testing kid and turns out any higher carb food raises it over 200 and fruit for about 2 hours that it stays above 200, so thank you so much 😊
Thanks for sharing that!
Thank you such caring people!
You are doing a great job. So informative. Thank you. Keep it up.
Benedicta is such a joy to listen to. Such a good soul. You're okay too Dennis but she is the star of the show. lol
I know that!
Awesome!

That's interesting, I didn't know that. Thank you
@Raymond Max
You can check : only whole fruits can heal diabetic .
You can check from the author 80/10/10
Our body need all vitamin's , we can get from real fruits n veggie.

Great content . Thank you Ben and Den.
Very interesting, like your videos, thanks for posting.

I loved this video. Thank you so much for this useful information. I'll to apply this knowledge in my everyday lifestyle.
Thanks for sharing that! Best wishes!
Could you pls do before and after exercise. That will be good education for people to exercise. Thank for your excellent work keep up.
The up & down of sugar levels is definitely worse for your body and something definitely to worry about! Agree!!
You are right, I thought fruit was good for you, it is, but having too much is not good for diabetics, Thank you for sharing, love the information your giving, keep up the good work!
Yes, eating fruit does infact raise your blood sugar levels. I know this personally.
You can eat cooked plaintain or semi ripe bananas.
Hollo Sor amd and God bless you. i have watched your videos over the years. When i became a diabetic first, i was trying hard to reverse my diabotied, but i was not really succes ful. I wonder if you had any success ?
If you haven't already done so, could you please do this with sugar substitutes eg: xylitol, stevia, monk fruit etc? Thanks
Dennis thanks! And Congrats having such a 'sweet', pretty and supportive wife.
That was good info Mr Dennis
Thanks for sharing. It is interesting to know how to much carbs is not good for our body..
What if you have just 1 regular size banana or a small apple by itself? How would you do then? What if you have a piece of fruit with a regular meal? Would you mind testing this theory? Love y'all so much, God bless🙏😇
I love this presentation. Thanks for making this video. My question is what do to stop up and down blood sugar?
When I lowered the carbs I ate at every meal, my huge spikes and crashes were leveled off. Talk to your doctor.
- You should try intermittent fasting every day for at least 16 hours.
- Eat high glycemic fruits only before a workout if you're trying to maintain your weight or bulk up
- Eat a carb loaded meal right after your workout (120g of startch + 50g fructose should be enough) if you wanna build some muscle.
Eat a carb loaded meal right after your workout = pure bullshit, all you need is amino acids, fats, protien! no carbs
Eat high glycemic fruits only before a workout if you're trying to maintain your weight or bulk up = i build muscle while omad so this thoery is also BIG BULLSHIT
THE BODY DOESNT NEED ANY CARBS STOP TRYING TO MAKE CARB EATING HEALTY WTF
You obviously are a young person who thinks he knows what is good for the rest of us who have been on this path a long time and seen exactly what causes diabetes. You're welcome.
Thanks for sharing. Love your practical approach to analyze the problem.
Well done Ben I enjoyed this video
