I'm just lost for words at how well this game is optimised and still manages to be good looking on the previous generation. Playground games are truly magnificent
@@jcn639 Dude. Start saving your cash now for the upgrade to Series X. By the time they're in 'normal' stock you'll have saved enough money, plus the trade in of your Xbox one, to buy the flagship Series X. It's all good! Keep gaming on the One till you're able to make the jump to the 'next-gen'.
@TomBradyShow 12 I have seen footage of people running it with high fps and high resolutions. It seems to work fine when it works, and there is no such thing as PC holding up, as every pc is different. High end pc's usually have no trouble at all running even badly optimized games. But seen Horizon runs fine on ancient xbox one at 30 fps, surely it will run well on many different pc's. The crashing is just a cause of incompetent testing and/or using the customer as quality control folk.
@TomBradyShow 12 The Series X is good for a console but hasn't got a patch on PC, it's not surprising the games a mess on PC the previous games have been aswell, unoptimized garbage with loads of issues.
It has a 1973 AMC Gremlin in it. This makes it the greatest racing game ever created. Period. And it spins out just as my Mom’s did in the 70s until we put cinder blocks in the back to weight it down a bit. Beautiful attention to detail right down to the gas cap. A masterpiece.
Wow all things considered the level of graphics and performance they managed to squeeze out of last gen is seriously impressive! As I said in the last video, FH5 is a hugely impressive technical achievement and I wish it was possible for all games to be so highly optimized. That’s why developers like Playground games and ID software need to be celebrated.
@@TristanTheVRGamecat Can you create original thoughts, or do you have to copy/paste comments under every thread to feel relevant? Dont you have homework youre supposed to be doing?
Microsoft needs to do a case study on Playground games and how they managed to pull this off, not only from a technical perspective but also a business/management perspective. The last studio that tried to pull off something this massive across multiple generations of hardware was CDPR and we all saw how that went.
the crew 2 already achive this ı think bcouse game like all usa much bigger than forza horizons maps and have plane boat and car not just car game. citty is not deatil like microsoft flight sim but if you fly over new york on crew 2 its still good. its like game combne forza horizons and flight sim with all usa. much better technical achivemen if you ask me. seriusly ı play 3 hour race even on crew 2 even they stupid to do. biggest race on horzions took best 30 min maybe. 3hours race and not tour you going miami to vegas to new york etc all around country.
Gears 5 (especially Hivebuster) is another great example of game scaling. Not quite as impressive on Series, but it’s still incredible how good it looks on all consoles.
Same here. Wondering about Halo Infinite, if 343 manages to deliver the same quality. Maybe Sony manages to impress us with Horizon Forbidden West and God Of War Ragnarok, but the bar is raised EXTREMELY high now.
This is looking really good. I’m consistently impressed by the big name racing games each generation and Microsoft has not disappointed me this time. I don’t even particularly like racing, but on easy settings FH4 has been easy on the eyes and very relaxing.
@@TheFirestriker101 I actually love having peripherals for stuff. Having the right controller makes any game better, IMO. You have suggestions for one?
A game at the level of 2005's "NFS Most Wanted" can achieve GOTY, with a story as solid as what we got back then, solid gameplay and graphics, it should be possible

The scalability of this game engine is amazing, somehow it still holds up on the base Xbox One, while scaling to look beautiful on a SeriesX, very excited for the PC video.

@@godsson7779 I understand how you feel. But you have to understand it from their point to. When you have 1,000,000+ followers, it’s tough to keep up with it all. I totally understand where you’re coming from, but I totally understand where they are also. I’m not defending them, as I’m sure again that they would love to respond to everybody. There comes a point with every RUclipsrs channel when it becomes a bit more than they can handle when it comes to replies. I’m sure every RUclipsr wants to keep contact with everybody who supports their channel. But, just like people in Hollywood, it’s impossible to do so and still have time for yourself. It takes a lot of time to make these videos. The editing and everything it takes to produce one of these takes up to a dozen hours or more depending on how long the video is. It’s a video as a half hour long, with all of the edits and music and everything else you do… It truly can take four more hours to not only edit and create the video, but also upload it. I look at it as, if they see the replies… They see them and they can react or not. But even if they read it and don’t reply, at least maybe I made them smile knowing that one of the many people love what they do. I have been an entertainer since I was five years old and I can tell you between actually entertaining, then promoting, advertising, getting sponsors, website, Twitter, RUclips and everything in between… It’s not easy and it’s very time consuming. You could easily spend every hour of every day keeping up with it. Which is why a lot of these guys hire people specifically to do so. It’s why PR companies can be so incredible four anyone in any form of entertainment. Because they take care of all of that and give you time alone. It’s one thing to do what you do and make the money, but because of the consumption of your time… It leads a lot of entertainers and RUclipsrs little time for themselves. All of it is more of a full-time job than many people realize. Again, I understand where you’re coming from, but knowing what I know and doing what I do… I totally understand why it can’t be possible for them and anybody else in entertainment to keep up. As you would never have any time to essentially enjoy the fruits of your labor.
I’ve always lauded Playground Games/Turn 10 on their skill at optimising games since the launch of Forza Horizon 4. You could run that game absolutely maxed out on a mobile Max-Q 1060 and even lower hardware by bumping down some of the settings. It was insane to me how well optimised that game was when I was used to PC ports being absolutely terrible and having to spend an hour tinkering with settings to make them workable. The performance of FH5 on last gen consoles only takes my appreciation of their great optimisation even further than it already was. Love this level of focus on optimisation cos it really makes a ton of difference
Only since FH4? That's not that long really, given how many years they've been producing Forza games. The optimisation for FH5 on PC is even better than FH4. I can play FH5 at higher settings than in FH4 and it's so smooth in-game. Except for motion blur (of course) and upping AA, I haven't needed to touch the graphic settings from their recommended ultra setup, with my PC being slightly above recommended.
@@MultiKool13 they did too little actually. Most of their development time and money was spent on building a huge fake gameplay demo for the press, then hiring Keanu and rewriting the entire script around Keanu then rebuilding the entire game around Keanu Reeves and again, more advertisement. The developers who complained about not building a real game were silenced or fired. Most of the development cycle was spent literally not building the game they set out to build in the first place. It was absolutely possible on last gen. That entire excuse is no more than that. An excuse to save face so they don't have to admit the suits ruined the whole game because in this situation, the lowest on the pole fall under the bus. Nobody in a suit is going to get blamed, instead, they blame the lowly developers for "setting their sights too high" and "wanting to do too much" then the actual people who really fucked up get a free pass.
It's just further proof the base 2013 hardware (Xbox One and also PS4) is extremely competent and can be used to make very impressive visuals and games. Stuff like Forza Horizon 5 here is evidence of that, but also games like Red Dead 2, Gears 4 (on the base Xbox) or Days Gone and Last of Us Part 2 (on the base PS4). There's no excuse for other developers when they release visual eyesores on those consoles, often citing "older tech" as the reason "why" their games run terribly and look awful.

I can’t wait to see what playground games can do when they don’t have to put so much time and resources into worrying about scalability on the last gen consoles
Since games are designed in such a way that you start with the best graphics and then adjust them down, til you hit your FPS target, they wouldn't have delivered any different result at this time. It's a myth that prior generations hold back newer ones. It's just not how it works. Otherwise you would have to say, the Switch is holding back literally all newer systems - which it quite obviously does not.
@@lokozar sorry to say my guy but there are undoubtedly going to be some gameplay mechanics that the older gen hardware is simply not capable of performing well enough to play on those systems

I’m sadly still one the 2013 Xbox one after all these years and to my surprise the game doesn’t look bad. I expected major downgrades and was amazed that the game still looked good. They did an amazing job
THIS is how you make a game. $60 for last-gen and this gen (with dual entitlement). DLC coming, but a MASSIVE amount of content just in the base game. Rock solid performance. And not a buggy mess! Every game should launch this way!
@pencil You're misunderstanding and/or misrepresenting what I said. I didn't say it was bug-free. Almost nothing this large and ambitious could be absolutely bug-free I said it's not a buggy mess. A buggy mess at launch is something like Cyberpunk 2077, or almost anything with "Fallout" in the title. :P
@pencil So, what's the big problems with the PC version? Just played it for an hour or so to compare it to my Series X, and the only difference was the graphics being less beautiful because my PC is a bit older. There were no technical issues at all. And apart from the form of delivery, the Steam and Store versions are technically identical.
@@DON666 I've played the game on PC as well and so far I've only seen two issues. The first one is where the game sometimes crashes when switching between body kits. This happened two times within 10 minutes when I was browsing through all the customization options for the RX7. The other issue is where the ground texture turns into a flat colored mush on mid to far range terrain despite the foliage being rendered just fine when I used Ultra environment settings. Maybe it's because the game was using up all the VRAM so it decided to drop the texture quality, but it did so without telling me I was low on VRAM (which it did on Extreme settings). Turning down the environment quality to High solves the problem and the LOD in the distance is much better.

Yeah. To my eye, One X is much better than One S, and Series S is another big jump up (load times and 60 FPS), but the jump to Series X/PC is comparable smaller. The longer this gen wears on, the happier I am to have gone with the most efficient system (Series S) rather than the most powerful option (Series X).
As good as this game looks, it’s barely scratching the surface of what the Xbox Series X can do. The next Forza Horizon game is going to be such a monster of a leap in visuals since it will be built from the ground up on Series S/X hardware.
@WWE , The theory is that the whole reason it's taking so long is so it'll be outside of microsoft's promised window for crossgen. Kinda bullshit since most people still can't get their hands on a Series console, but oh well.
Yeah it'll be interesting to see how stuff fares at the end of the generation. The jump from Horizon 2 in 2014 and Horizon 5 in 2021 both on the stock XB1 is very impressive.

@@kebbinator This may sound ridiculous but I'm being genuine. I've played it for about 10 or so hours now. Things at fast speeds being too blurry to appreciate is off-putting, and when I spin the camera it makes me feel ill lol. I have to play it at 60 and even with lower foliage and a couple of other lower settings I swear it looks better, not just performance but actual visuals too. I don't see much reason to play in quality mode on the Series X, although I'd love for them to consider a 120hz 4K40 like Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart did. At the end of the day it's a racing game, and if people can justify the bricks on a building being more 3D in quality mode when you inspect up close versus how it looks and feels during a race, it feels as if their priorities are backwards.
I am using an Xbox One X with the drive replaced with an SSD. In this configuration, I don't see any reason to change to the Xbox Series S. The performance and loading speed, thanks to the SSD, is very similar plus I have an optical drive. Only Xbox Series X may be an option, but that's after changing the TV to at least 77 inches.

Thank you, again.
The next-gen version is really amazing, but I find it even more surprising that they were able to run this game at 1080p on the old Xbox One, I can't even remember the last time I saw a game hit 1080p on this console, it's amazing that they were able to run it. I play this well on 8-year-old hardware with a Jaguar CPU and DDR3 RAM, I'm surprised what developers can do with such old hardware. The Xbox One X version is also surprising, I didn't expect to see this game hitting 4K on it (which is even more impressive since even the Xbox Series S version doesn't even come in that resolution) but I still think it would be interesting to have a 1080p mode. at 60fp.
It's probably too hard to pull of 60fps on jag cpu. Can only imagine the optimizations needed to make it work on FH4. Even DF thought it wasn't possible in FH3, yet they pulled it of in FH4.
@@vandammage1747 Yeah it probably was cpu limited, because the gpu is not that terrible on one x. I don't think it's like some people said above that it was marketing to make Series consoles look more impressive and necessary.

I have nothing but respect for Playground Games for making such efforts to push the limits and optimize their games and to not rush to release them in an incomplete state, especially in todays world where it pretty much became the norm to release a game each year even at the cost of quality, innovation, and buggines. It probably has to do with the publisher Xbox as well but idk.
I would've loved the performance mode on the Series X to use the same textures and lod detail as the quality mode, but at 1440p and not 2160p with visuals akin the One X. Still a great visual showcase
100% this 1440p 60 fps quality mode would be the sweet spot IMO I tried the 30fps quality mode but hated the motion blur and went back to 60fps performance mode pretty quick. The texture pop in is a bit distracting, but soon got used to it. The 30fps on FH4 was much better for me without the exessive blur Game is amazing btw, well deserving of all the 10 out of 10s
Yea Id like a resolution or quality toggle as well just cause im not on a 4k tv. Lod pop in wouldnt be entirely fixed due to that often being cpu/streaming limited but it would be improved im sure
The Series S seems to handle 1440p at 30 fps, so I'd assume the Series X with a GPU 3× stronger than the Series S should have no problem to do the same at 60fps (with DRS on). I don't think the CPU Speeds are the bottleneck here, because they are quite powerful on all new gen consoles. Maybe a future patch will see some adjustments. I played on extreme at 1440p on my 3080, Ryzen 9 laptop, hitting 70-90 fps and I really enjoyed the lod better there, even with the resolution drop from 4K to 1440p
Ign gave this a 10/10 and described it as the best racing game period. So far from the vids it gives me Forza Horizon 3 vibes and environmental gives me Vietnam nostalgic flashbacks. It takes me back to my good old early college years era
Agreed. Too often we see developpers turning down resolutions, framerates and even LOD on "next gen" consoles. If this game can run on Xbox One, how can a developper say that their came can't run on base PS4? Even if they have to dynamically lower resolution up to 1280*1080, theres hould be enough power.
And if you get Gamepass alongside side it, you can play the game for a fraction of the price. That's how I played through it the first time (although I was on One S), and it was incredible
Next time you see an unoptimized third party title that doesn't come close to this in graphical fidelity juddering along, remember this is what the hardware in Series X is capable of in the hands of devs who care.
Goes to show that sometimes it's not about raw power. The Xbox One was the underdog for the entirety of it's gen, but just look at this. Look at Gears 5, Quantum Break. All it takes is a talented studio that understands the system to fully explore it beyond supposed limitations. Look at the Switch pulling off incredible games on a mobile chip. Playground Games, I salute you. What you just did shows your absolute love for the franchise, the car culture, and your neverending respect for your community. Congrats on a job superbly well done! I am actually going to choose 30fps instead of 60fps… I really wanna see this game on its best form. Never thought I would choose graphics over performance on a racing game. Thank you for this video!
I want to play the quality mode so bad but it hurts my eyes lol the 60 fps flows so smoothly, especially when turning the camera to the side while driving. In my personal opinion, 60 fps is better but I don’t knock anyone for choosing the better graphics.
@@AMoistBum I mean, it's the flip of a switch. So, no reason not to try both and see which is better suited for each individual. I agree with you though just based on watching the videos. After playing on Series X the past year, going back to 30 fps is just hard on the eyes.
I tried the Quality mode but it just feels choppy compared to the Performance mode. Performance mode still looks amazing, but I would prefer a 60FPS mode with the same graphical fidelity as the Quality mode but at a lower resolution.
@@y_auc60seb20 Yeah that has been something I've wanted on quite a few games already. I have 4k in the living room but the xbox is almost always in the bedroom on a 1080p tv that I'm not replacing until next year at the earliest. It works fine and looks good at 46", so it's just wasteful to replace it. A full quality 1080p 60 fps mode would be perfect. But having any options is still an upgrade from previous generations, so at least they're moving in the right direction.
I'm still on xbox one x and was getting series x envy before the game released but I really had nothing to worry about, the game looks phenomenal and I really don't miss the 60fps mode right now. I can see why they left it off, mainly down to marketing and not the hardware in my opinion. It plays and looks incredible and can only imagine what it must look like on a series x. Load times don't even bother me as I'm used to FH4 load times. I'm looking forward to the day I get a series x though, and watch this game become even more amazing. Truly the best current gen game that can wear that tag proudly, and not just because of the way it looks. Im pretty sure it must be pushing my one x to the max though 😆
At first I was disappointed that the one x at least didn’t have a 60fps option with the base consoles graphical preset, but after seeing just how good it still looks on there in 4K, I don’t know if I’d even choose a performance mode if they decided to patch one in later (unlikely) it just looks so good, and I normally prioritise frame rate over everything.
100% agree. Since getting a Series X is very difficult, a USB SSD could dramatically reduce load times if you want to purchase one for your One X. On Forza Horizon 4, my SSD cut the load times by more than 50%.
A few gripes I have is, sometimes the cars sounds cut out in your garage on the base xbox one version, and in cockpit view, the background has some pop in, but overall it's amazing how PG was able to optimize it for last gen
We need to hit Twitter & start pushing Xbox & Playground Games for that. It is still possible to add one if requested by enough people. That's the hard part, getting enough people to bother.
@@metallicafan416 I believe turn 10 are in the process of upgrading the current forza tech engine (which horizon 5 is using which is the same as the horizon 4 on) to include ray tracing etc,

Seeing this makes me wish for Polyphony Digital start putting in as much effort in optimizing their games like T10 and Playground do. Because ever since the PS3 era all of the GT titles have had unstable framerates, even GT Sport on a base PS4 tank quite hard when being in crowed situations in cockpit view and clear weather.
I remember back maybe a year after the Xbox One and PS4 came out, developers said they pretty much tapped out the consoles in the visuals they can produce. I'm not sure I beleive that anymore; had I seen Forza Horizon 5 running on a base Xbox One in 2013, I would have busted a nut.
Oh man, hard decision on XSX...Sure Quality mode is impressive but the 30fps are just hurting my eyes, when compared to the smooth and buttery 60fps that performens mode offers...great to have those options of course, but the cut is just a bit to hard in my opinion. To me 30fps feel "not right" anymore in a racing game nowadays, especially on a next gen system. If 60fps is somehow achievable, even if this hits resolutions and effects, I will go for it... true next gen problems, I know 😀 great game either way you experience it...a masterpiece in its own class 👏 👌 🙌 ❤

@Sonic but it’s double the frames. Trust me I also would rather this have been a series x/s and pc only game but it’s a business and the last Gen install base is huge
At around 2:47 when you go into cockpit mode whilst it's raining you forgot to mention when the rain hits the windscreen going straight it's in the middle but as soon as you turn left or right the water beeds off in the direction of the car turning to also make it feel like it's really raining in real life 😁👌👌 nice work playground and DF 👍👍
I play Quality mode at 1440p 60fps on Series S! How??? Go to your TV settings (in my LG it's called True Motion) it interpolates the frames to smooth them. This way I have the top quality of QUALITY mode and the smoothness of 60 fps. It just works. In Sony TVs it's called Motionflow. In Samsung TVs it's Auto Motion Plus. Just go to pictures settings and test it it's AMAZING for games.
This upload still manages to intrigue me weeks later... The level of effort that went into optimization of Horizon 5 by PG is admirable. I'd still love to see a video directly comparing the Xbox One X to the Series S... more importantly hearing your opinion on the how's and why's for the way both systems run their specific version.
That's some serious optimization. I am going to assume that things like Mesh shaders and sampler feedback streaming aren't in use just yet. SFS could free up more memory, especially for the Series S. I am curious how Forza Motorsport and Fable are coming along. You won't need to be moving so fast in Fable, so that's going to be something.
I believe those technologies will be implemented with Forza Motorsport (8) and the big next gen overhaul of the Forzatech engine. Despite this looking amazing, it's still built upon Horizon 4 which uses Forza 7's engine. Yes, I have high hopes for Forza Motorsport.
FH5 looks amazing, however every time I see a gorgeous next gen desert I immediately start to day dream about how a Fallout New Vegas remake or sequel would look. C'mon MS you own both studios involved with F:NV please make it happen!

Playground games really should add a third Graphics option for a1440-1800p 60 fps Quality mode to the Xbox Series X version in my opinion, rather than cutting back the visuals to maintain a 4K resolution in the existing Performance mode. I personally think a small resolution drop would be far less noticeable than the current pop in that you see in the Performance mode. Thankfully, this isn't an issue on the PC which appears to be the definitive version if you want the best visuals *and* the best performance but that shouldn't surprise anyone. It's still awesome on the consoles - I also have the game for my Xbox One X - but the PC offers so much more, including the option to play at 60 fps to whatever framerate your monitor supports.
Exactly. Many ppl prefer better graphics over 4K resolution. Everyone praising devs but its insane they forget about choice... On XOneX there also could be 60fps mode tbh
I agree. They should add something like this, similar to how Ratchet and Clank and Spiderman Miles Morales added in PS5 where the game runs at full quality at 1440p 60fps. Playground games had to work on 6 different versions of game, so it's possible that they could not find time to add two more versions.
Wow! Great comparison and analysis Mr. Leadbetter! It's obviously the quality we come to expect from DF but the way this one was delivered is top notch! It was fun to see the different tiers and level of differences.
Congratulations!!! To Playground Games for making this beautiful game ✅ it seems they knocked it out the park w/ this, across all Gen's.

They didn't. We still don't have a ps5/series version yet.

Stuff like Forza Horizon 5 here is evidence of that, but also games like Red Dead 2, Gears 4 (on the base Xbox) or Days Gone and Last of Us Part 2 (on the base PS4).

Even on Series X the 30FPS mode despite looking amazing in screenshots feels like an actual downgrade compared to Forza Horizon 4 on Series X because of the framerate alone.
Got the exact same setup, the One X is still a total powerhouse
I am using an Xbox One X with the drive replaced with an SSD. In this configuration, I don't see any reason to change to the Xbox Series S. The performance and loading speed, thanks to the SSD, is very similar plus I have an optical drive. Only Xbox Series X may be an option, but that's after changing the TV to at least 77 inches.
Until a week ago, when I finally picked up a Series X, I was playing Horizon 5 on a One X with an SSD and loved it. Such a gorgeous game no matter what hardware you're running it on
I'm a PlayStation fan and this game looks absolutely phenomenal and extremely enjoyable. Xbox users will have a great time with it.
I really hope this sells tons, and loads of Xbox consoles as well. Microsoft is acting the right and fair way this generation with their fans. Sony needs to decrease the greediness and start to respect and hear their players again.
This is a chad comment. Generation is gonna great for both

You guys should do a DF Retro on DiRT2(also known as "Colin McRae: Dirt 2"), the game is over 10 years old, and still manages to look stunning!
Yup. Still remember the croatia track, looked sooo good.
ı dont know you play nfs 2015. some pictures look berrer than fozas bcouse all rainy and night. forza horizon or forza motor sports pictures look better but they use motion blur focus on going car and picture mode overaact this. if you just stop car without using picture mode and compare nfs 2015 the nfs 2015 look bettter much closer to real image.
That was one of the mind-blowing moments of my 20 year gaming experience.

Getting a game to run this good and look this good on 2013 console hardware is just bonkers! Playground have just set the gold standard for scalability across platforms, and I can't wait to see what those wizards do for next-gen Fable. Great video DF, loving the in-depth FH5 coverage.
1:22 look at that spare tire on the one s
This game is jaw dropping. Playing on a series X on an OLED TV.
It just hit me again how much work you put into getting this information out to us, the viewers. Thank you everyone at Digital Foundry for your continual coverage of all these titles, and your excellent ability to relay that complicated information in a beautiful presentation on a daily basis.
5:04: Just looking at the developer from Playground telling Rich about FH5, and not just taking it all in-which would be enough for many of us; we'd go, "That's neat," then move on-the peoples at Digital Foundry have the desire to tell us about what they've gleaned.
I literally got a Series X just for Forza Horizon 4, 5 and the new Motorsport. Absolute dream come true these games. I love all 3. Gran Turismo on PS5 is still absolutely amazing as well. It’s a damn good time to be a racing game fan ❤️
When the game is moving fast enough, the generational differences between One S and the Series X Quality modes fall away disturbingly quickly!

Yep, gotta' love these developers with absolute technical wizards on the team.
No body does overviews like Digital Foundry. This is an impressively detailed video.
What a technical masterpiece. The true flagship Xbox game.
This is maybe your best graphical comparison to date, so much information and you swapped between the two contrasting images the perfect amount to demonstrate the differences. Great work!
What they've done with this is absolutely remarkable, I've never thought the base One can deliver such graphical fidelity, this is literally GTA 5 on Xbox 360 all over again, if not even better.
GTA 5 ran like ass on old consoles , don’t think that was a good comparison lmao
@@chrisbrown113096 But those were much worse even than One and remember that was a fully open-world game, everyone was still blown away how much could be squeezed in such hardware even with those framerates.

14:29 this is insane bro, absolutely insane!
I would've loved the performance mode on the Series X to use the same textures and lod detail as the quality mode, but at 1440p and not 2160p with visuals akin the One X. Still a great visual showcase
There must be a reason why that mode is not available. It is really weird actually that we do not have one on series x
Count me in.
100% this
1440p 60 fps quality mode would be the sweet spot IMO
I tried the 30fps quality mode but hated the motion blur and went back to 60fps performance mode pretty quick. The texture pop in is a bit distracting, but soon got used to it. The 30fps on FH4 was much better for me without the exessive blur
Game is amazing btw, well deserving of all the 10 out of 10s
Seeing this running on an Xbox One is almost more impressive than seeing it running on Series X!
Agreed. Too often we see developpers turning down resolutions, framerates and even LOD on "next gen" consoles.
If this game can run on Xbox One, how can a developper say that their came can't run on base PS4? Even if they have to dynamically lower resolution up to 1280*1080, theres hould be enough power.
Bring on Alex and the PC analysis! Thank you Richard! I can’t wait to play this on PC next week.
I think I'm going to buy an X Box Series X solely for this game! It looks that good!
And if you get Gamepass alongside side it, you can play the game for a fraction of the price. That's how I played through it the first time (although I was on One S), and it was incredible
Amazing work from you guys at DF! Thank you! That look at the multi-system-setup at Playground was very interesting to see!
You and Id Software are on a league of your own.
I am actually going to choose 30fps instead of 60fps… I really wanna see this game on its best form. Never thought I would choose graphics over performance on a racing game. Thank you for this video!
I feel the same
I want to play the quality mode so bad but it hurts my eyes lol the 60 fps flows so smoothly, especially when turning the camera to the side while driving.
It’s amazing how well this game looks on the base Xbox machines
Agree with you about the framerate. I'd say one x could pull off 60fps.
I'm on series s can't wait for forza 5 to drop on gamepass.
@@MJ_Gray23 totally agree, I think I'd stick with the Quality mode if a performance mode was added.
I would've loved an "in-between" mode at 1440p/60hz with higher detail on XSX.
Slightly lower bounds while pushing out the lods would be amazing running on a 1440p monitor

Series S is surprisingly great.
Incredible, incredible work by PGround Games for putting the effort in fine-tuning the game for each platform and DF for this brilliant coverage.
One of the most impressively detailed DF videos I have seen. Great job Richard and rest of the DF team!
Forza Horizon 5 the best looking game released so far.
Well 30 fps is not for you, as this is the slickest 30fps you will find on console
On my oled TV 30fps are unplayable.
1080p60 at ULTRA should be possible.

I absolutely adore my Series X. Best day one tech purchase I've ever made.
Imagine what Playground can achieve with mesh shaders, SFS and machine learning. I'm surprised they didn't even use VRS.

@Lov Mir updated. 8 year old hardware :)
This is amazing how we are at the start of this console generation and the games look like this already... wow
I agree. I hope digital foundry or the developers see these comments
Wow! Great comparison and analysis Mr. Leadbetter! It's obviously the quality we come to expect from DF but the way this one was delivered is top notch! It was fun to see the different tiers and level of differences.
