He is telling the truth about white people. I never knew lotion was something I needed, honestly I still forget most of the time. But I thought I just had itchy skin from showering or because of the winter.
Same!!!
Facts. It's more of a white woman thing but even then they don't use lotion like black folks. I honestly never use it. Lmao.
I think it's the hot water in the winter, longer and hotter showers
Same here. This but literally was the thing that made me realize it and now I don't miss a day. Makes a big difference!
Yep. I missed the memo too.
You can tell he is married to a black woman and has a lot of real life black friends. So he talks about real life conversations and interactions and really knows his stuff. I think that's why it doesn't come across offensive cause it's authentic. And he talks about everybody, lol
Exactly! Bill and Dave are national treasures. They talk about everybody and point out truths. Sad so many these days just get offended instead of laughing. They know that shit is funny.
His kids as well.
Dude. White folks and lotion, or lack there of is SUPER FREAKING REAL. I knew nothing of it until I started attending church with a good mix of races. I learned.
Reason is white folks generally don't get ashiness on the skin. I'm white and have never used use any lotion except on my hands when they feel too dry, and my body skin is smooth and moist and has no flakiness or ashiness. I don't get itchy either.
The only white folks I've seen be flaky and ashy is homeless people who do not have access to showers, so their dead skin cells just keep building up.
One time in culinary school (where there was an even mix of black, white, and Hispanic) I used some pretense to look at my classmates' elbows (I think I told them I was checking if our chef coats were irritating our joints, or some bullshit like that.) None of the white students had ashy elbows, the darker-skinned Hispanic students had them but the lighter-skinned ones did not, and the black students generally did, except for the ones who told me they exfoliated and moisturized.
My wife is Japanese and she taught me the importance of lotion and dry skin😂
One thing I love about Bill Burr is how freaking happy he is on stage. It's infectious! You can tell he's just having a great time.
I'm white and I've only used lotion about twice in my whole life! Once on a sunburn when I was younger and once about 10 years ago because my girl cousin rubbed it on my arm and said smell this. The thing about the towel is I did the same thing thinking it was the towel for many years until I watched this a few months ago.
Yeah, Bill is correct.
Exactly the same here. Thanks to Bill I started buying lotion. I’m in my fifties hahaha
New subscriber⭐️ Loved your reaction❤️
TRUTH. In my house lotion was a womans thing but as a guy I was NEVER taught that lotion was good for me, thus I grew up into my fifties before I bought lotion for myself. Wish Bill had done this bit back in the 80s
@@Dude1971Dad If it wasn't for lotion, I'd have flaked away to nothing by now.
I’m Russian, and I guess that makes me somewhat white. With that said, I never used lotion except when I get burnt or sunburnt. I hate the feeling of oily residue left by lotion, especially if it’s on my hands. I’m 26 and it’s so crazy that the first time I’ve ever heard the term “ashy” was Bill Burr’s full special like when I was 20. That shit blew my mind and I wasn’t sure if that was even a real thing, but I’ve seen videos of black people’s reaction to this bit and they say it’s a real thing. I had only 1 black friend for a couple years from church and sometimes we’d have a youth camp and every time he took a shower he’d get his lotion out and rub it everywhere. But I even hate shampoo because it leaves this slimy feeling, that’s why I use bar soap, leaves the skin squeaky clean. It’s amazing how true it is when Bill says “that’s why you gotta hang out with everybody”, so many things that we don’t know about each other that could actually help us narrow that weird gap of misunderstandings.
Somewhat white?? What does that mean? You think white people only come from America?
Russian is white, not somewhat white. We can all tan for the most part etc. There's lotions that don't feel oily just as there's shampoo that isn't slimy, just as there's that nasty kind of water when you shower that feels soft and disgusting because it's pumped with weird chemicals. The soap that leaves you feeling squeaky clean as you say , that's chemicals helping you shed dead skin is all. There's more out there in the world, you just sound like they type to try a couple things and stope exploring and learning. That's why most people have a bad understanding of things, they get comfortable and too lazy to keep learning.
yea statistically ethnically average russian might be the most caucasian you can get in modern world because of the geographical isolation. there's asian influence in the east of course but there's so much land I wonder if there's much intermixing. most of southern europe at least has had some "melatonin enrichment" in their gene pool in some part of their family tree along the centuries.
OK.
@@snooks5607 yeah, I agree on the Caucasian part, but “white” is a label that Americans made up for weird purposes. Most of the world doesn’t think that way. I don’t think of myself as white because I was raised in the culture where the definition of white and black applies to colors of objects and such, never to people. In fact, if you call someone black in Russian it would actually sound vulgar and offensive. Maybe in parts of Africa where people have a very dark skin tone they would actually call me white because of the huge difference where I’d look so pale in comparison to them that the only way to describe me would be “white”.
Bill is a great combination of having no fear, and knowing he has no real reason to be afraid.
The lotion issues are mainly a white male problem, in my experience. None of my male relatives use lotion. I think they think that lotion is for females(a girly thing) or somehow that it's not manly.
I was thinking the same thing. White women like the sented lotions. For a long time I had so much of the Bath and Body Works lotions I almost smelt like fruit salad. I now buy more moisturizing lotions. I'm older and my skin is dryer.
Most of my male relatives don't use lotion.
For me it was the feeling it left on my skin, I just hate the oily feeling. Finally found one that works hempz triple moisture.
@@clutchspells2804 oh yes, I LOVE Hempz lotion's. It's all I use unless I'm forced to use something else. Your skin absorbs it so you don't have that greasy film feeling. 😂 I totally agree with it being a white male issue of not knowing about the lotion, too! 🤣
Chill
Bill Burr's Philly Rant is LEGENDARY!!! Crowd was booing everybody at a comedy festival and Bill lost it and roasted the entire city for over 10 minutes and it instantly put him in "immortal" status for comedians
@@mollymcbutthurt dude it was philly
For what it's worth, we have more than one bridge thank you very much.
Im a suburban latino. Also a metalhead. Lotion was for chicks. Only. Forbidden amongst men. At 19 started dating a black woman. This is almost beat for beat how it went for me. Even after we split, its been like 12 years...still moisturize. I learned. And it feels great
Correct me if I'm wrong but don't Latinos also have a real macho attitude in their culture. Could be changing but I remember growing up my friend Dan they were expected to be real macho and manly.
@@whiskybooze yeah they can be.
Can confirm. I'm a white dude in my 30s, and growing up, my mom used lotion for skincare (and women generally did), but there was sort of a stigma when it came to guys - almost like it was effeminate if you used it outside of extreme circumstances, since only women used lotion. It was a self- perpetuating cycle.
Edit: check out more Mitch Hedburg! Alternatively, Anthony Jeselnik.
Facts.
Yep im coming on 28, never used lotion in my life
Me, a fellow white dude that also missed the lotion seminar. Only my mom and sisters used hand lotion. Sometimes.
@@JakeMcb just Vaseline
@@Angryroomate1 Or that tbh Well besides when i use to box a bit a bit as a kid
New Sub....Big fan of Bill Burr (the black-girlfriend 'Nia' he talks about in all his routines is his Now wife of nearly 10yrs)...Must watch "Black friends, Clothes & Harlem"...there are so many!....He is long-time friend Dave Chappell collab with each other apparently....Enjoyed your reaction...👍
Apparently I’ve heard that wasn’t his wife in the story it was a girlfriend before her.
I feel like there might be a little bit of overlap. One of these black girlfriend he's always talking about HAS to be Nia right? Or maybe not
@@steverogers3919 ...i thort thats what he said in an interview years ago maybe i misheard him?...my bad
@@niteowl1156 I'm not saying you're wrong. I'm just speculating. I think I heard somewhere the same thing that you did
The best takeaway from this whole bit is “That’s why you hang out with EVERYONE.” We are better together.
Bill Burr is my favorite. I am one of those that don't usually laugh when I hear jokes but with Bill I laugh through every one of his. Glad you listened to this one. I'm gonna go see what others you heard so far.
That lotion bit is TRUE! I learned something today! 😂
I've had black friends since I was a kid so it was normal, even seeing their moms put that shit on for them, before school. I just never used it myself due to the "can't see it" bit he mentioned. Now as an adult, thanks to Bill, I use it more often after showers for the reasons he explained. Amazing bit.
Polo, you're right. Burr is a legend. Love your reactions and the fact that you point out not to get sensitive over race jokes. Bill delivered perfectly, but your reaction was golden 😀
Bill Burr IS Legend!! Yes Sir.. You've stumbled into a huge and absolutely HILARIOUS Rabbit Hole 🕳 🐇
TON of content. Take your pick.
He's not lying.... I didn't use lotion until I saw this bit. Not even lying.... Nobody told me lol
he is right about the lotion. the only reason i knew about it was because i grew up in a mixed family. my step father always got on his kids case about being ashy
Hello from Canada Polo 😊 60 year old white lady here, and never started using lotion, until I was about 50, and my Doctor(Dermatologist, who is black), suggested I started using lotion, because my skin was very dry, and was the reason I was getting itchy patches.......who knew LOL 😆🤣😂
This was hilarious! It's my first exposure to this comedian. Appreciate your commentary
If you’re shocked about the lotion situation. Wait, just wait until you ask about washcloths
Bill Burr at his old job- as a writer and performer on the Dave Chapelle Show - backing up Dave Chapelle on The Racial Draft skit is my favorite.
I am a 60 year old black male. I started loving stand up comedy as a young teenager. With the likes of Richard Pryor, Redd Foxx & Moms Mabley. The 1st black female comedian that I ever saw. I have been watching stand up comedy ever since. I even gave it a try myself. So, when I say that Bill Burr is one of my favorite comedians today. I wasn't introduced to it recently. He is not offensive. He is funny, relatable, genuine and a great story teller ! I will say this though. His earlier skits are more enjoyable than some of his more recent specials. You can tell the earlier part of his career. Cause, he still had hair. And in case anyone was wondering, he's married to a black woman and they have 2 children together
Bill Burr is right, never heard the term ashy or the lotion part. So yeah 100% right
Bill is legendary 😆😂😄😆😆
Wholly agree
Polo, gotta give you props for posting BB bits. Realized it's May 5 and I haven't used lotion since March! Off to the drugstore tomorrow, then MOISTURIZE all weekend!! :)
Bill Burr. The best stand up between Carlin and Pryor.
As a white person, I learned a lot from this. I am itchy in the winter. Black people use lotion, and white people use antihistamines and hydration
Can confirm the lotion thing.
White guy, never used lotion until I watched this bit.
Classic old school Bill Burr right there. Love that guy.
Bill Burr is one of the few honest comedians left.
I love how when "whitey" came up all of a sudden you got really interested in your beverage.
I hadn't seen this bit in awhile and it legit had me tearing up laughing.
I'm caucasian 40 and I don't think I have ever even owned a lotion.
Bill Burr - Helicopter Story 🚁
He's not kidding. Only time my husband goes near lotion is when his hands are bleeding or he gets it on him from me. Pretty common for white men over 30. LOL
Love Bill!
Great Reaction 💯
Do The Helicopter Story.
One of Bill’s best bits. LOVE the act out of the white guy scratching while he does the unregistered guns lines
Loves me some BB and glad you’re enjoying him as well.
Bill’s not afraid to speak about black people. He’s married to a black woman. 😄
Yeah, he's been married to Nia, for almost 20 years.
@@brenthowell6148 20 years? Ain't no way. In the reasons to hit a woman bit he mentions he's like 43 not married during the drumming part.
@@NYC_Goody Check out in Arguing about Elvis Presley, that was in his comedy special, Paper Tiger, 2017, he says they've been together 15 years so ad 5 more years, 2022, that means they have been together 20 years.
@@brenthowell6148 so maybe at that point, they were just dating then. Unless that was a made up bit for comedy purposes. I have no idea
@@NYC_Goody Your absolutely right. If I said married, I meant they had been together for that long. Anyway, they are a amazing couple, and he's a awesome comedian!✌️
yessir... i did not use lotion for the first 30 years of my life. No one else in my house did either. Then one year I got sick of being itchy in the winter and tried some and now I would never go without it.
So glad you did these bits together. Most people split them up but they go hand and hand and are way funnier when combined.
Everybody laughin in that audience,so funny
Tom Segura is one of my favorite comedians right now. Lots of great bits, like the "First 48" bit.
It's cool to know that some of his material came from hanging out with Charlie Murphy and Donell Rawlings 😂
Bill Hicks is definitely worth listening to
The towel blame bit hilarious
Older white guy here but having oily hair and skin all my life was no fun but it has helped me at least stay looking younger than my peers. ;)
52 year old white guy here. I never used lotion unless I was sunburned. Literally never. Bill speaks the truth.
Yo he’s a damn savage 😂😂😂 I’m crying typing this
It's true, mom always used lotion and said I should. I never did until I saw this clip 3 years ago when I was 19
Gold, Jerry. Gold.
Bill is my favorite
Sad to say it but Bill is keeping it 100% its the TRUTH
Every time I wait for him to bring up the part about the Glock in the car, I totally forget that he starts the scratch in South because he’s ashy! Haha
BTW - Never knew about lotion.
48 years... NO LOTION! He ain't lyin'.
It’s absolutely true. I’m 44 and I never used lotion til I saw this bit.
This stand up routine got me to start using lotion. Changed my life, seriously.
Bro I learned my lesson about black people and the sun in front of a whole break room of workfolk. Iwas so embarrassed! I didn't know my kinfolk didn't get sunburns. Everyone laughed. Good memory.
The "Is that thing registered" while scratching himself had me dying.
Dude, this is spot on, I started using lotion at 44 years old, and I always thought it was the winter like he said or the city hard water.
Great video is Dave Chappell and Bill,
Race draft....
Welcome to Bill, enjoy the ride...
Enjoying your Channel
He's right. I'm in the humid South. I only use cheap lotion in the quart pump when cold fronts come in and my skin gets itchy.
As a member of the yt delegation, I can concur that most yt men never use lotion unless we get sun burned. Just sayin…Bill is spot on.
I love your reactions. Very good.
You need to check out more Bill Burr, he is great....Check out Bill's No reason to hit a woman. Norm Macdonald is another Legend....he has his own peculiar delivery, but I always loved Norm.....He passed away last year...Norm's 12 minute joke is really funny.
Your a legend yourself Polo, so many black people get offended by that bit and others like it but u see the comedic gold in it and are not offended, keep doin what u do man.
Bill Burr has so many great bits…Black Friends & Harlem is hilarious. All his bits are original & laugh out loud funny
One of the best ever! Bill is a beast! The Philly Rant is legendary.
Good one! Hysterical 😂❤
no lies detected.
Personal example: I've been doing a lot of paperwork lately, and that means I've been resting my elbows on the papers.
Naturally, the skin dried out, started callusing. I didn't notice until I had elbow calluses like a damn dog's.
When they started to hurt, crack, and bleed, *then* I noticed.
What did I do?
*SANDED THEM OFF*.
Which works, but kinda hurts.
One of the office ladies laughed her ass off at me and then told me I should at least start putting on some shea and cocoa butter lotion on those areas.
This also works, and does *not* hurt. Smells a little odd, but that beats bleeding from cracking skin.
Now, I'm considered a fairly smart guy... and I have no idea how to take care of my own skin.
Nobody ever tells us (white men) about this stuff.
He's right. 52 year old white dude from the UK. I have never once put lotion/cream on any part of my skin unless I have had sunburn.
Bill is hilarious. Bill n Dave Chapelle are the best
One of Bill’s best friends was Patrice O’Neil… They toured together for years…
Not only is his humor top notch, but he is an absolute master of his craft. He also, as you noted, has the ability to talk about race(as well as gender) issues without being offensive. One of the all time greats!
I lol at , there's whole aisle at Walmart! 😆😂
Mexican American here. 49 and have never used lotion not even once. Saw this bit and then bought some lotion.
In my community it’s thought of as a feminine thing only. I don’t know why.
Dude, there’s some 90 year old African American person that looks like he’s 25 meanwhile I look 90. 😀
I'm white and not even a USA citizen, and I'd never used lotion until I heard Bill in this special when I was 35 .
Great reaction, my man. 😁👍🏻
Best delivery in the business.
Its true. Growing up my family had 1 old bottle of lotion dusty under the sink.
Irish here .. watched this bit 10 years ago and still don’t use lotion.
Truth!
I only used lotion on my hands when they we're really dry.
U completely got him. Luv ur reaction.❤️
Bill burr use to write for the Chapelle show.
I probably put lotion on 20x in 37 years before this bit 🤣🤣🙋♂️
Nice reaction ! Thanks bra!
George Carlin's "Stuff"" bit
I have seen this bit at least a dozen times. I still don’t use lotion and literally never have. Should probably start lol.
We absolutely do not know about lotion, even the ones who do know about lotion don't know about lotion. We only find out when we start following Korean skincare routines. :( It's a whole new world to discover in your thirties.
Bill taught me about lotion. Lol
This whole special put him in my top 10 & he still may make top 5 if he keeps kickin azz
😆
John Mulaney, Cert Kardashian, George Carlin (George - RIP - speaks his mind).
My 3 smart ass adult sons turned me on to him above 5 years ago. I sat there cracking up.
Yooo I’m sitting here in the winter and just realized why I’m itchy.
I’m ashy. Oh shit. 😅😂😂
It's true though....never seen my husband put on lotion....ever....lol
