Carlin is that rare cat that can think deeply about thoughts and still conquer the anxiety to get up and tell you about them. It's beautiful.
What set George Carlin apart from most other comedians was that he loved words and how they interacted with each other AND he loved to make people think. He knew that if he said something in a certain way, he could make his audience think about the subject in a way they never would have otherwise. Richard Pryor was similar in that respect and contemporary of George that's well worth listening to as well.
Words words words
"Join the Book Club!" - I love the book titles.
That's good old George! Probably the best comedian to Ever grace the stage for our amusement. A caring heart ❤️ that tried sooo hard to throw common sense, through humor into the ears and into the brain. George was a special one!
Polo. I love your reaction to Carlin. Yes, he's funny as hell. George is probably my favorite comic of all time. And I'm old as hell. Let's try 83. I've heard Carlin a gazillion times - and he's always funny. Got to run - got my 2-minute warning. ha, ha, ha, ha
George Carlin's style of philosophical comedy sessions were the original TED talks.
Right. He was definitely the thinking mans comedian.
George tackled all the subjects. He was great.
George Carlin was a genius. He was the Lenny Bruce of my time. ❤
*Our time. There are more of us :-)
George is simply phenomenal.🤣😅😆😅
my husband knew he was going to die. He, as a joke had me call the pastor and ask if he could have a rehearsal dinner so he could critique his funeral before hand. There was dead silence on the phone and then I heard my pastor screaming with laughter. In a sad situation he chose to make everyone laugh.🤣😅😆😅🥰
Awww...sounds like a great guy!
George Carlin is a comedic genius! His logic is impeccable! He makes it all hilarious 😂😂😂☮️❤️🙏🏼👵🏼
ᴛ᷈ʜ᷈ᴀ᷈ɴ᷈ᴋ᷈ꜱ᷈~~
George was very meticulous in his comedy. He weaves his beliefs with comedy. Every single word is exactly how he intended. He treated joke writing as a job. He worked on his material every day. He said he wrote for several hours each day. His delivery is unique. His voice going up and down. His facial expressions were so good.
"He treated joke writing as a job."
...Well, no shit. Comedy WAS his job.
George was a genius and is sorely missed. He was not a religious person, so his "Religion Is Bullshit", and "The Ten Commandments" are especially funny and thought provoking.
ᴛ᷈ʜ᷈ᴀ᷈ɴ᷈ᴋ᷈ꜱ᷈~~
Check out his appearance on Johnny Carson. He walked out on stage and never said a word. The audience reaction is priceless. You have to see it to believe it. He was the best. Had all his albums. Loved "Occupation Fool" and Toledo Window Box"
Yo Ninja! You just articulated some simple insight that Mushroom Clouded my Psyche. Affirmations are everything! I was washing dishes on my 50th birthday. It was this past Mother’s Day. I worked just under 14 hours. The next day I started as a line cook. 6 weeks ago I got promoted to PM kitchen Supervisor. I’ve been writing stand up jokes too. I Know I’ll be doing my thing in due time…
I’ll Letchu know.
He was a script writer for Saturday night live back in the 70s
I hadn't heard of that. But he was the first host on SNL.
Thank you for acknowledging the performer, the craftsman, the great entertainer that Carlin was! He had an office, where he wrote and worked, 9 to 5 . He KNEW that he had a job, and he worked at it! Harder than most!
You need to hear more of Carlin. He was fn hilarious. Yet told the truth about the Govt
My grandfather used to help his neighbor (a funeral director), he told me once when they were bringing a body from the hospital to the funeral home, it actually sat up in the back of the hearse. They found the car on the side of the road an hour later.
Oh my!!!
Carlin was a word smith. He really studied the lexicon of language to craft jokes. He was the Noam Chomsky of comedians.
George carlin....I have been doing his rutienes since I was a teenager. I used to hide his albums from my parents. Im 63 years old and his stories, his humor is still realevant today.
The first album I learned was AM FM. It was my Dad's. I'm 53 now, and I could recite it when I was 12! Some references went over my head, but, I knew his shit was hysterical!
When he said nobody wants to die, he did not live long enough to meet anybody that watched Polo Reacts, lol!
🤣
he was one cerebral comedian
masterful ! Peace Polo. Keep rockin' steady
That was good. Everything he did and said was all just to wind it’s way down to that punchline. That’s when you know that this guy is on some different level. Damn.!!!
I love your reactions videos Polo! I just watched a few of you watching Elvis Presley. You really should see the Elvis movie that came out this past summer! You'd really understand him a lot better. He truly loved black people with the utmost respect for them. I was so glad that I brought a lot of tissues. I've always been a huge fan of his but that movie wasn't anything that I was expecting! My husband was never a big fan but he really loved the movie as well.
George carlin acted in the movie bill and Ted's excellent adventure He played Rufus a guardian guide from the future
20/20 hindsight is the clearest vision that we have!
Mr. Carlin was the original TED Talk. He made you think without even realizing and making DEEP or dark conversations entertaining.
Jim Carey has always been about positive affirmations and visualizations. You should react to his graduation commencement speech. It’s absolutely beautiful, inspiring, and funny.
Bill Hicks "a positive drug story/it is just a ride" 15 minutes or so. Deep comedy.
Great analysis at the end Polo.
This reinforces why I love you The song in "Waiting for My Real Life to Begin"
Mr. Carlin was a genius. A LOT of what he said DECADES ago is still relevant today. which is crazy
In the late 70’s he did a special where he came out onto the stage and never said a word, I laughed my ass off the entire time. Seriously he never said a single word! No other comedian would have ever tried to do anything like that.
His skit on culture and religion is great
"But he killin' here."
AND THERE IT IS AGAIN!
His routine about stuff is great.
You need to watch Carlin's "List of people who outta be killed" from his special "Grievances and Complaints". 😊😁❤
The last minute of your bit was Truly Real and Honest.
So you like movies, huh? You like Kevin Smith movies? In the movie DOGMA George plays a Catholic priest lol. Un the movie JERSEY GIRL he plays the grandfather.
Liked your commentary. For another cerebral comic, try Louis CK. He also is an acute commentator on the human condition. My favorite.
I agree about funerals..I'm not having one!
More a genius than anything. OPen minds love him...Love and miss this brilliant word genius...Thanx Young Sir. Dave C. Bill Burr also in the same category. Got to have a few neurons going on to get Geotge carlin. Masterful/
Love you for mentioning "The Green Mile". That movie is a fantastic piece of art! ^_^
Brilliant stuff. When Carlin died, Chappelle picked up the mantle.
Apparently someone online said George's IQ is about the same as Albert Einstein.
The electrocution scheme gone wrong in movie The Green Mile actually happened. Possibly a 1956 death sentence with the the same "mistakes" on a Willie Francis. He was succesfully electrocuted a year later. Probably not related to the movie, just in the approximate time.
George Carlin was my favorite comedian. I haven’t found another since he died that compares in that way
I had a good buddy from the military we've known each other since 1978He used to call me once a week and say hey Russ Do you remember so and so and I go yeah Any say he's dead. No he's been gone.
He relevant to a this day. Thanks for this one. I hadn't seen it before!
You're so right Polo. He was brilliant. Too bad he's not around now. Can you imagine what the woke culture would be thinking of him? Haha! And for sure about affirmations. Act as if you've already achieved it! It works. Love your honest reactions. Thanks.
"Woke culture" is a myth invented by insufferable babies...Which you must be, given how you've bought into it.
@@grabble7605 And you, my friend sound like a fool. You know absolutely nothing about me, yet you're judging me?? I think perhaps you're the one who needs some waking up!
Remember him as the cab driver on Car Wash
I have never been to a funeral where people were taking pictures...... NEVER...... Honestly, I have never heard of that before until you said it.
Jonathan Davis the lead singer for korn the band worked as a mortician when he was younger before he started playing music
This was interesting fun :) Thank you!
I was so happy to get to see his last tour when it came through Houston
There's an old saying, "As I think I am, so I will be." It's the truth.
More Carlin for sure!!!!
I really hope you're a fan of his now. If so, you're part of the cool crowd!
I your voice. Carlin was a genius. You are handsome.
More philosophy than comedy, but still funny. Never trueer words for Carlin. Thank you
Fun fact, Bo Burnham's favorite comedian and inspiration is George Carlin. Both use their comedy not just to entertain but to encourage you to think. As the 2000s started, George's material went more political and Bo Burnham's material is laced with an evolving political view.
"The way the world works" by Bo Burnham tells us a lot. Another song, 1985, from the Inside Outtakes, is a jab at both his youth and other activists who take the messaging and apply it to everyone indiscriminately when it's really just specific people that fit the bill.
For George Carlin... His material on word usage was truly genius.
The Green Mile was among the saddest movies I ever saw.
glad you are starting with early george, and it's been said of him, that if you take away the comedy, he is still very worthwhile listening to
Polo: "Morbid content, but he's killing here." Nice.
ᴛ᷈ʜ᷈ᴀ᷈ɴ᷈ᴋ᷈ꜱ᷈~~
👍😊❣️ George Carlin's jokes were a combo of childish funny thoughts(things like a child thinks about)and extremely serious insight. Making you think.❣️
George is a philosophical
Check out Carlins bit about " a place for my stuff"
That was amazing 😊
The best part of Adam and Eve THEY HAD TWO SONS AND NO DAUGHTERS
hugsnbellyrubs beautiful man, hope your anxiety is getting better bisoux
The answer to the question of how the human race could start with just two people is that it couldn't.
Evolution happens to populations, not just individuals, So, whole populations of our pre-human ancestors gradually evolved into us.
It's not so much that words have power, it's more like those who believe they will succeed and keep saying they will succeed will try hard to succeed and eventually, more often than not, will succeed. Meanwhile, those who think they will fail and who say there's no point because I'm just going to fail anyway are more likely to not try as hard and will end up failing. It's still the effort that makes the difference, but the effort is fueled by your belief that you will succeed or fail.
Self fulfilling prophecies… 👍🏼 Positive and Negative alike
I've been to 3 funerals, and I've never seen a good makeup job!!
I don't follow religion, per se, but I do have to believe that like energies gather and what we present through life dictates our end placement.
Great comedy makes you think.....Yeah , this was great....
After the "two minutes warning" i'd clench the two middle fingers. A "double barrel" i call it. So when the rigor mortis kicks in the coroner can get my message.
... and why is it called "warning"? As if you did not know what's coming down?! Just surprise me.
That was the thing about George. He didn't give a damn
Two ideas for more Carlin that I am certian have been given already. The ten commandments, and an incomplete list of impolite words.
Polo you have to watch Earl Nightingales The Strangest Secret.
Please go watch the movie Dogma, he plays a catholic priest...hysterical!
Please check out Eddie Van Halen’s guitar solo from “live without a net”. If you want a guitar solo from a guitar legend/god. That’s where it’s at.
I was forced as a young Catholic alter boy to serve mass at my cousins funeral . It was horrifying in my eyes. I do not want a wake, be embalmed , or have a funeral. I especially do not want to end up in a nursing home. I’d rather die in the woods and let the animals have their fill. Funerals are also outrageously expensive, way to expensive !
I think your idea of what dying in the woods would be like and what actually dying in the woods would be like, could turn out to be very different things.
George Carlin was so many things...philosopher, comedian, student of human nature & more! It's supposed to be that.....because they were made perfect to start with incest was not an issue. As the generations continued....the bloodline broke down through sin and such. At least thats how it was explained to me by a Jehovah Witness! lol. People take pics at funerals?!! 😱 Flowers...thats why I always give the person their flowers while they are still here! My Gram...rest her soul...wanted balloons! We did a balloon release....white doves & purple balloons...her favorite color. Death row....it takes longer to die on death row than it does for most of us to kick!
I'd say an icicle makes the ideal murder weapon :-D
I think you’re right about Dave Chappell. They had a similar story telling style. If you don’t mind swearing, jimmy Carr is awesome. His word play is second only to Carlin
I wonder how many people who were in that audience is still alive right now. Interesting thought. Also, affermations... there is something there for sure, where your attention goes, energy flows. That being said, if something is really a known truth, they don't really need any affirmations. I don't think Bill Gates has a yellow sticky-note on his bathroom mirror to remind him he is rich and successful. I think affirming the process that best allows your goals to be cultivated is where it's at. Calculus can help you get to the moon, but it can't help you shoot a basket ball any better. Gotta have that balance between the inner monologue, and applying that knowledge. If someone really knows something to be true, they don't have to try so hard to convince themselves or others. There ain''t no missionaries knocking on your door to spread the message the sun is gonna come up tomorrow. Funny as it might be, taking something for granted is probably the strongest affirmation one gives something they really assume to be true
I don't understand what would make someone WANT to be a mortician. Wanting to be around dead people all day is a little odd. But I do know a lot of people in that business just for guaranteed work. Like a supply and demand type of thing. People will always die, so a mortician is always needed. Guaranteed work. Guaranteed money.
Given the way live people often treat each other, maybe wanting to hang around dead people makes a lot of sense8
Advice George would have cried over, tears of joy, if you get it, tears of sadness if you don't.
"Witches are naturally nosy,” said Miss Tick, standing up. “Well, I must go. I hope we shall meet again. I will give you some free advice, though.” “Will it cost me anything?” “What? I just said it was free!” said Miss Tick. “Yes, but my father said that free advice often turns out to be expensive,” said Tiffany. Miss Tick sniffed. “You could say this advice is priceless,” she said. “Are you listening?” “Yes,” said Tiffany. “Good. Now . . . if you trust in yourself . . .” “Yes?” “. . . and believe in your dreams . . .” “Yes?” “. . . and follow your star . . .” Miss Tick went on. “Yes?” “. . . you’ll still get beaten by people who spent their time working hard and learning things and weren’t so lazy. Good-bye.”
Ah Terry Pratchett, much missed. Another angry guy with a great heart telling the truth.
If I remember right, Adam and Eve just had sons. So that means mama got busy, unless there were already towns in existence, which the bible says did happen (Cain wandering the lands and towns after killing Abel). So either Adam and Eve were the first 2 people, or somebody is lying.
Not lying...it's just the book of Genisus covers at least 1,000 years so everyone isn't mentioned. Adam and Eve probably had lots and lots of kids. They tell me that the gene pool was exactly perfect with Adam and Eve. So siblings mating didn't cause birth defects, then.🤷♀️
Have you ever watched the movie What dreams may come starring Robin Williams, thats about going where you imagine or believe you will. Might be worth a look.
I thought about that stuff when I was about 15. Thinking this (whatever) you're going to be is actually true. The brain controls everything. You can definitely change your personality, but I think you can actually change the way you via being positive
Erykah Badu called manifesting your destiny
Check out the comedian Gallagher. Good stage act.
A lot of truth is said in jest. So I call him the thruthful jester.
I'm with you on the subject of funerals. Just burn me up and use me to grow a plant.
There is an actual list of the strangest last meal requests on death row
ᴛ᷈ʜ᷈ᴀ᷈ɴ᷈ᴋ᷈ꜱ᷈~~
and do you weep every time w/ Green Mile? I do...EVERY TIME!
check out Bill Hicks !
10:47 - not in this show, but ina another he had said the same thing! Goes something like "if in the beginning the were only two people, with the number of people on the planet - very few fuc*in' retards!".
Maybe it wasn't him, i'm watching a lot of comedians, but i'd say he had said it.
Please react to George Carlin -You Have No Rights -Thanks!!!
