Alan, Ive been following you for two years now. I think I’ve watched this video three times, I learn something new every time. I really like how you show details for the beginner and pro. Anyway, thanks for all you do for us DIYrs. 👍👏
Just want to say thank you for all ive learned from you. Before these weeds emerged i was the new kid on the block banging my chest. i'm looking forward to seeing the health of my lawn in the spring. hopefully all this prep and work helps my lawn get healthier.
Just used your suggestion for modifying my Ortho Dial in Sprayer. Mine was clogged. I cut the filter off and put the weight back on. Worked like a Charm! I was just about to throw it out but then I saw your video........Thanks so much!❤️
I just calibrated my backpack sprayer today -- never used one before. Honestly I did the lazy way and just filled it up with 4 gallons of water (I wanted it to cover my whole lawn which is only ~5000 sq ft), dialed it in at a lower psi so it's not misting, and then walked at the same pace I do when spreading granules. It worked out pretty well, I was left without any water towards the very end. So I'm going to decrease the psi a bit and pick up my pace. My first application I'll be trying out is hydretain -- if it ever rains up north so I don't have to water. I really needed this for the summer we had, but I'll try it out for the fall.
Glad I watched this, been binging your info lately.. watched several videos about applying Prodimine and most say 5.2g per gallon/1000'.... it appears that here in SE Florida (Ft. Laud) I doubut my soil ever gets below 70 degrees for more than a couple days all year, so the standard application rate for me would be 13g per galon.
Allyn totally renovated my front yard August 1st. Replaced weedy bahia with Arden 15. Everything is going strong filling in beautiful. I'm in orlando, when can i safely use a preemergent? My lawn probably wont go dormant. I will say the the Arden is stifling the nutsedge which previously ruled my yard. Also thanks for all the great info... Your the man buddy
Pennant Magnum is what you want if you have nutsedge issues - it's espensive but worth it. You can apply it after the sod is rooted and you have mowed at least twice
A big thanks Allyn, I have his job ahead of me this week, at least now I have some great advise to follow. Thank you Brother. On a side note, I know the Good Book says don't covet thy neighbors goods, but dang I love your Tundra.
Thanks Allyn. Never used pre-emergent before, but waiting for the granular prodiamine to be back in stock on your site for my first application. Maybe next year I'll try the spray. I did spray Sledgehammer a few weeks ago. Finally seeing some results but the kyllinga is still hanging on.
just ordered it! Just so you know how to attribute the sale, I watched it on YT first, then I got the email and clicked there to order :) Who doesn't like that kind of info! hehe
Hi LCN First time using liquids.. do I need to mow the grass lower to spray? Seems like the liquids will stay on the blades and not the soil. I have TTTF mix. Thanks and love your videos
I just bought two bottles. I have a little over 15000 sq ft. I'm using a tow behind sprayer. My understanding is I add enough water to cover my sq footage as long as I use the min dilution of 1 gal water per 1000 sq ft. Usually its around 18 gallons of water in my sprayer based on my pump pressure and tractor speed.
Health-wise, what is safer to use: granular or spray (assuming a reasonably cautious person is using either, and not spraying on windy days)? I am thinking about exposure over time.
Lower nc, just put out granular dimension today sep 20. I'm afraid I'm a little late but threw er down anyway. Should look way better than the untreated centapied Lawns in 2 months. Thanks
do you have any problems with the prodiamine granules settling on the bottom of your tank? Also, what is the ramifications if I add too much of the prodiamine per gallon of solution? I would think over-saturating the prodiamine on my yard is not the most environmental friendly thing to do, but it's for the sake of keeping crab grass at bay/
I’ve just replaced a friends lawn w Dwarf Carpet of Stars succulents. Would it be ok to spray this area or would it inhibit cell growth in succulents too?
Thank you for reminded about do not put Prodimine if reseeding. Almost forgot about that. Then question. Can I apply Tenacity instead for fall pre emergent?
So for TTTF, recommendation is 3 apps, 5.2g, 5.2g, then 13g in fall. If I plan on skipping the fall preM due to overseeding, do I just stick to the same spring 5.2 and 5.2g amounts?
Hello Allyn, I have a question regarding to the maths. I have 2000sqft to spray, do I dilute 26g in 1gal of water too or it will be 26g in 2gal to cover the 2000sqft? Thanks
Hi Allyn, I have a liquid aerator solution that I was going to spray on my St. Aug. Could I/should I do that prior to spraying the Prodiamine and can I do both back to back or spray the liquid aerator solution and then wait a week or two to put down the Prodiamine? Thanks for all the great videos and tips!
Allyn, the smaller bottles of prodiamine are game changing! I just wish those had been around 2 years ago when I pulled the trigger on the 5 pound jug :D Will you be getting them to make other smaller quantity herbicides, etc. for you? Maybe a pint of a PGR like trinexapac-ethyl, etc.? Lots of possibilities there....
Symbiont 01 , I bought the 5# jug a couple years ago too. Still a way better value is you have larger yard. 5 oz is less than $5 so your way ahead I’m sure. Those folks with small lawn will really like the 5oz size for sure.
I plan to over seed in 3 weeks, I have alot of crab grass right now. Can I spot treat that crab grass right now and still over seed 3 weeks later? Or should I let the crabgrass just die on its own? When over seeding in the fall, do I just wait for spring for any pre emergence? I'm in Maryland.
Alan. I just bought the 45 lbs glandular Pro diamine from yard mastery. Thank u. It said per 1000 sq ft. I can put down from 1 to 9 lbs. is more better? Lastly I need help to kill Bermuda grass in my centipede lawn, what chemicals do U recommend ?
Currently I have a hand pump sprayer, and a large yard front and back I put down a post emeregent killer (granular) in August but in the spring because we are going to seed i will need post emergent weed killer as they have taken over. So I looked at the battery operated sprayers and the royobi is so much cheaper than the milwakee backpack not sure why? I do have some royobi batteries and have been wanting to upgrade to lithium but watiing for a deal. The lawn is in the northeast! I might put the sprayer in the mower cart and drive around. Nice video's.
I used a thin piece of gorilla tape on the one gallon one and a half and two gallon mark. Since girl the tape is black, it makes for a great contrast to the clear white bottle.
Sponsored by prodiamine Allyn? Hahaha - how little they know. But I’m guessing you have a deal up your sleeve with the good folks at Potash quite honestly. But seriously …. I think listening to your advice over many hours is one of the biggest reasons my lawn got through the hot northeast summer this year. Thanks for all the help you give us here!
How can i stop my lawn from being overrun by torpedo grass? Also should i dethatch? I feel like my lawn i hovering on it and growing on it. No one offers it as a service so may need to get the sun joe machine before summer growth spurt starts.
If you find that 1 gallon doesn't give you enough time to work the 1000sqft, is it acceptable to use more water as long as your still using the same amount of prodiamine to cover the 1000sqft?
Well just did my first treatment of prodiamine. Measured and math. Is it better to be heavier or lighter in your application? Spray and pray!?!? My math wasnt super exact my lawns only 2600 sq feet. Uggh!!
Is Prodiamine 65WG Herbicide known to be harmful in any way? I have kids and pets that roll around in yard. I’m trying to stay away from harsh herbicides and stay as organic as possible. I’m also looking at corn gluten as a alternative for a pre- emergent . Any advice?
Curious if you have checked out the Milwaukee sprayer options? I use their stuff for everything i can, and would love to see a review of their sprayer for lawn care products....
Question: I love yardmastery! I purchased the prodiamine wdg for my bermuda lawn.. About to put 2nd app. I noticed I have 2 thin 3' X 3' areas in the lawn that are not waking up. Should I avoid pre-em in those areas to allow the bermude to re-establish? I'm worried stolons wont be able to tack down and fill in the areas...
I sent both grassy and broadleaf weeds in spring and fall, can i combine isoxaben and prodiamine to secure my yard against these weeds, is it right to do so?
Great video, any suggestions on how to kill beggar-weed I think k the name is grona triflora and the huge roots in saint Augustine grass? Thank you in advance
Can you mix this with more water than one gallon? For example, I have a 20 gallon pull behind sprayer. I have 15600 sqft of turf. Can I just put the 1000sq ft rate of product in the 20 gallons and just spray it evenly over the whole property.
I'm in South East GA is this safe for centipede lawn. I'm planning to spray Atrazine for post emergent. Just waiting for the forecast to clear. I can use this product as pre emergent also? Thanks again Allyn.
Somewhere this guy recommended Roundup for Southern Lawns but I found it simply doesn't work on weeds in my St Augustine lawn. I can spot treat the weeds 2-3 times and they don't die - the color simply changes.
Hey Allyn, I have a question. I live in Oklahoma and am currently renovating from bermudagrass to SPF-30 Hybrid Bluegrass. I will apply Tenacity during seeding to help with weeds. The thing is I will have a crazy Poa Annua explosion if not properly addressed during the fall. During this reno, is there anything I can do along with Tenacity to keep my new SPF-30 from having a Poa Annua invasion next spring? Thank you so much!
This will be my first time spraying a pre emergent. Can I cause damage to the grass? I will be using the same type sprayer and Prodiamine in the video. Me being “green” is making me nervous
Always learning from you Allyn but being an organic lawn care guy makes it tough seeing how easily chemical treatments work. Not expecting you to do an LCN video on corn gluten meal efficacy (I've had mixed results) but any idea what organic options I can use as a pre-emergent? I occasionally cheat and use Tenacity but really prefer to stay as green as possible.
Might be a silly question...but can you apply Pordiamine AND Dithipyr BOTH? I picked up some Dithiopyr WSB and I am only covering ~2500sqf total....and after doing a lot of research and math I am just wondering if I will be covered in case I screwed something up. I live in CO and I primarily have KBG..so based on my math I applied 3.3g of Dithiopyr on my ~650sqf section of front yard...which doesn't seem like a lot...hence my concern. I know the amount doesn't matter...I just want to be sure I am getting the coverage I am looking for. Thanks.
Allen been following you for you for awhile and you probably have video on this but I live in Central Texas and I have st Augustine but in some areas where it thin I seem to get stickers do you any advice on getting rid of it or manage it thx
Is it too early to apply Tenacity (as pre emergent...a little late for post- emergent, I suppose, but at this point maybe anything helps if I can reduce seed production/spread)? I was hoping to apply later this week (in CT). We bought this house a year ago this week and the lawn is mostly weeds. I will likely have to reapply in two weeks and will reseed at that time, too. Should I wait? Thanks, Allyn! Love your channel. Edited to add; I have multiple types of grasses going on.
Allyn, I'm in SE Georgia just a few miles above Jacksonville. I have had a huge problem with chamberbitter this year. Will the prodiamine-65-wdg- pre-emergent herbicide put down this Fall help keep it from coming back next year? Also, how about a post emergent to get of the chamberbitter now.

Hey man just wanted to say I love your vids and especially the podcasts. I wear em out Over and over again trying to get that knowledge!

Awesome ! Have fun with it, be sure to water it in when done.

Just sent in my soil sample last week. Looking forward to seeing the results.
It's like unwrapping a package when you get it back - that's when the fun really begins.
Ordered some the other day. Should be here Monday. Perfect timing for my sinking ground temps. Excited to try it.

Can’t wait to see Allyn ‘flexin tips’ in part 3. That POV spray cam tho... can’t get enough. 👍🏼

Yes that is also a good way to do it for sure! It's pretty funny how if you just go by "feel" you can usually get it right.
Great video! Looking forward to seeing the new pump sprayer next. Cheers!
I produce a similar sprayer and you are a real good user!

5.2 g / 1000 in early spring and gain in mid-late spring and 13g / 1000 in fall (now)
This is really good for getting the grass between the sidewalk and the lawn. I find it hard to get with a spreader.
yes I agree, liquids are much more precision for sure.

Edited to add; I have multiple types of grasses going on.
Throwdown your tenacity app tomorrow and followed with Prodiamme end of Sept/early Oct. You'll be fine.
