I can't think of a single thing that could go wrong with this build.
🤣
Be in the water by july seems ambitious but some how Oscar will make it happen
If nothing goes wrong, how will we learn....
@@dirtybirddaprix1757 I hear you, but why waste time and money repeating mistakes of the past though? Better to plan more and avoid the "dumb" mistakes and spend the saved time and money trying and mastering cool new methods 🙂
This boat is merely a step towards the boat he actually wants. The fire pit is proof. When this boat is inevitably consumed by fire, the insurance money from it will then go to the final boat. Chess not checkers.
hot tub in the front is going to have the boat plowing water, should be in the middle or the back.
definitely need to put it in the back
should probably close in the front more too, for rogue waves and such, from other boats
Came to say the same thing. Look at his other professional built yacht. Heavy in the back and gets lighter as it moves forward.
He's already going to have two engines in the back. I'm guessing they should weigh enough to level it out.
Probably true but I think putting it more mid ship would make the bow ride slightly proud. I’m sure there’s a tipping point but I don’t know what it is.
@wes52101 a small hot tub is about 400 gallons of water. That's 4000 pounds on the nose. That's allot of weight to balance out and overcome
SEMA is in early November. Maybe think about starting your SEMA vehicle now instead of waiting until October.
Don't worry, he's got this.... Chris you got this right?
Pshhhhh ridiculous! 6 and a half days to build a SEMA car is almost too much time.
@@Markisamillersaid every SEMA builder ever…only to realize the first comment
4 day sema build that gets 90% “good enough” done on the sema floor the night before
Why start with a SEMA build now? You only need a couple of hours to wrap a shell of a car
I'm an aerospace stress analyst. The kinks in the side supports aren't ideal for load transfer. Also consider diagonal struts somewhere for lateral strength. I'd recommend a basic finite element software to design your support structure.

This reminds me of the episode of the Simpsons when Homer was hired to design a new car for his long lost brother lol.
Didn't he go bankrupt?? 😂😂😂
The car with rack and peanut steering. Danny Divito was the voice of his brother. And yes, I do believe this caused the brother to go bankrupt.
@@MikeAnderson-uj3oorack and peanut steering? Why wouldn't he go with re-cycling ball steering??
I shall indeed refer to this boat as "the Homer"
Consider the trailer first… build the boat to fit the trailer. Make sure the trailer fits through your doors first!
And the height size, while over the trailer if it's going to fit under bridges
Nobody is trailering a 12+ foot boat, anything over 102" would need permits in most places
@@Goose-it I’m just saying that before they get too “deep” in this project, they better have a way to move it…
@@Goose-it so how are they going to take it from the shop to the marina?
@@tonyguate there's companies that specialize in transporting over size boats, I had a boat that the top had to be taken off to transport, and reassembled at it's destination.
Ditch the hot tub and make room for a kitchen way more useful for a day on the lake.
Exactly. If i want to chill in some water I’d jump into the infinite amount of water that’s commonly around a pontoon.
He said he was putting a BBQ grill on it if you need an entire kitchen why not stay home?
@@aber2912you don't chill in a HOT tube hence the word HOT!
@@joeysweet9045 even still it has no place on a pontoon boat in spite of the phrasing.

This man will have sunk more boats than Germany did in WWII!
Around here we call something like that a "Party Barge"
Right? Furthest thing from a yacht lol
Yep, around here too, party barge or pontoon boat. Around nowhere is this called a yacht!
Or house boat.
@lrmart88 yeah, he would have been better off buying a house boat and stripping the top off for this.
@@lrmart88 I wouldn't even call that a house boat tbh. The thing is just an oversized pontoon boat plain and simple.
I hope boat has less leaks than camper.
Bro 💀💀💀
I was literally thinking the same thing when he said they were going to cut the pontoons.
😆
I hope it has less leaks than the first boat.
Hey just a quick note. build the trailer first. this boat will not fit on any standard trailers. second you need to tie those pontoons with I beams in order for them not to brake in half. there is a reason why they dont build pontoon boats over 30+ ft.
Everyone forgets about the trailer…
You can't trailer over 102" wide
@@Goose-ityou can, just need permits
@@Goose-it Not that bright are you?
@@MrThisIsMeToo it was a simple reply because so many people have said the same thing, and I didn't feel like explaining on ever comment that said "hey Chris build a trailer first". Yes you technically can trailer it, but most places will require permits over 102" so the average boater is not going to trailer anything wider than that to and from the water, they going to hire someone and bring it to a marina/slip/ECT
Please, Chris, PLEASE run this by a naval engineer. There’s a reason pontoon and house boats are built the way they are. The last thing you need is another boat sinking, or worse, one loaded with all your friends. This is serious stuff, and the Willamette/Columbia Rivers you want to take this on are deadly.
You should also get this certified by the Coast Guard with a vessel number (which I think is required for registration anyway).
All of this should done anyway if you actually plan to produce these things for people to buy, which sounds like a liability nightmare.
Narrow double decker...... what could go wrong XD
I have emailed and offered to help, I am a qualified naval architect, so will see, would be cool to work with him on this.
I love the idea of what this boat could be, but have a couple concerns that i'm sure can be massaged out.
@@alexanderfogg1923 I emailed and offered to lend my industrial 3D printing expertise getting his large format printer working reliably for him, but never heard back.
No matter what happens with the B Is for Byacht I’m here for it
Please get some consultation from an experienced boat builder. The design, as it currently stands, will not be stable. The distribution of weight (such as hot tubs) needs to be incorporated only where hydrodynamics and the equalisation of buoyancy permit it.
At this point I'm starting to think they purposely build poorly thought out stuff so people will comment on how they are doing it wrong and thus feed the algorithm....
I think this is what happens when a software engineer believes he can design vehicles. Just because you can captain a boat doesn't mean you can build one. The same goes for cars.
My father was a boat builder, spent a lifetime learning his craft and working with naval architects & marine engineers who themselves studied for years. Seems like he wasted his time, right?? I mean, how hard can it be? I'm looking forward to the next episode - B is for Biplane, I feel certain aeronautical build is coming soon...
@@aquacruisedb
Why stop there? If Elon can do it........
I wondered about that but it turns out hot tub pontoon boats are quite common. This is really just like two boats joined together with the hot tub one in front and the two deck one behind. So it balances out.
You’re like that kid in the forums who’s first post Is talking about making a 1000hp street car
i stopped the video to write this.
1. i salute you and your team on trying this, its going to be epic and im really looking forward to following this!
2. if you use deck squares with compatible furniture you can reconfigure the seating to your heats desire.
3. a quad toon like this wont be stable offshore. it probably wont be stable in the columbia river.
4. this will turn like a pig, if it turns at all. look into bow thrusters.
have you considered running this by a naval architect? its going to be expensive to find out that it doesnt work. :(
love you guys!
edit: ive been running boats for nearly 50 years. currently ive got a 26' sailboat and a 16.5' bowrider in the stable. ive built 3 boats on my own.
Bow thrusters 100%. You need the second story with beefy tubing for it to be strong enough to not crack in half for sure!
I love how you're never scared just to start a ginormous project. it's very inspiring.
Well he has money. That's a factor
@djb71bigpond interesting 🤔 how did he earn his money..?
Maby by not being scared to start a project.
@stevenbanks3744 calm down fan boy, I didn't say he never de..... never mind not worth arguing with you. Whatever have a good day
the secret ingredient is munnnni(mister crabs voice)
First thing on his design is twin sofas. You would think that the initial design elements would be those of a nautical nature, you know, the things that make a boat safe and prevent people from like, drowning. This should be good. The first outing of the other boat ended in dry dock for like 2 years, and once repaired, it sank. Building boats is a great idea.
With a hot tub and seating that far forward you are building a Submarine!
"The daily" proceeds to point at the dustiest car I've over seen
You should get in contact with ultimate rebuilds, he has built like 2 pontoon boat. His first pontoon i believe was a double decker
youtube.com/@ultimaterebuilds7127
Haha came here to make some kind of mention of Ultimate Rebuilds too.
But yeah IIRC his double-deck wasn't (initially) a tri-toon so B is already ahead in that regard.
If your engines are in line with the outer pontoons you will get a better turning radius plus with the wider separation between engines you will be able to turn just by adjusting thrust
Honest question. Do any of these projects ever get completed? It seems like each build gets to about 75% there, then another project starts and those other projects are never heard from again.
No, that's his other channel "C is for Completed"
You are going to need to look into a small motor in the front to use as a bow thruster or you'll never get it in the slip.
Yep. Not sure how he's going to pivot that in the marina
If he mounts his outboards towards the sides of the boat rather than directly in the middle he'll have plenty of control using a combination of forward and reverse. There's also setups that can gimbal the outboards in opposing directions for even greater control.
@@shoutouttoicet hes using inboards though
@@steveww07 He literally walked passed the outboards in the video, and he modeled the outboards in his software. he's just putting a cover over them for usable space. They're still outboards.
I´ve seen Clarkson, May and Hammond doing something simmilar, it went brilliant
This is what's called losing focus. Chris has gone off the rails.
For advise, I have a double decker premier pontoon. Things I really like:
1- helm in under the hard top
2- seating for guest near the helm . ( I had another pontoon where the seats were a little further, was feeling out of the party sometimes)
I would allow clear views of the back of the boat from helm, maybe have stairs on opposite side
Have front of the boat lighter, maybe move hot tub back. Everyone seems to hang in the sun , makes waves splash over board . Hard to make toons plane as well.
Think about weight distribution, mine is a little offset to one side. More seating on one side makes the boat lean when everyone sits .
Just some advice from my few years of having pontoon of all kind
Great project!!!
Let me guess, building out of steel plate?
aluminum plate!
lol good one!
Feadship, Bering, CdM, Lurssen, Van DerValk, Benetti, Sanlorenzo, even Heesen.....lots of yachts are built from steel.
And angle iron
Half inch steel plate or nothing
You cannot make a canoe out of a round shape. The submerged area does not change when it starts to roll so you have no righting moment. You'll just flop over right away.
That is what I was thinking, as well!
Cool project! I would recommend engaging a marine surveyor and your insurance company early to find out what certifications you will require to insure the boat and keep it in a marina.
There are a few islands around portland we will just tie it to a stump with other homeless mariners
May need a captain’s license with that many people.
Pontoon fronts you cut off should go on the front of the Jacuzzi so its not like a plow in the water.
Check out ultimate rebuilds. He's already done this a few times and could probably help you out.
What an awesome idea! Did you calculate the stability with the second deck? Also, with 40 people, dont forget about space for plenty of safety equipment. Parties should be fun, but also safe ;)
There's always gotta be one...
@@SaintKimboits the law. You need 1 life jacket for every person on the boat.
If you are 40peoples, you need 40life jackets.

Am i the only one who imagined Oscar listening to this and slowly shaking his head?
Honestly should have sourced an old houseboat and done a full renovation rebuild on it. This 100% will not turn out how he is expecting it to.
This ought to be something
You should integrate wheels that can come down so that it doesn't need a trailer to transport it. since you get to design it yourself it would be fairly easy to do that.
Can't wait to see this thing sink.
Love the plan, this type of partyboat makes so much more sense for Oregon.
Seems like a lot of chairs though, and less open space to move around.
Also plan for things like the TV or Sunshade as early as possible.
Might also make sense to make the enclosed stairs longer and add more dry storage.
I know it’s not common, but pontoon boats can and do flip in high winds. I’d make sure you’re thinking about that as you build a narrow boat with a second floor. A good gust of wind with a small wave in the right direction and that thing is going to roll.
Small shop = more focus, forces you to finish a build before starting another
Hey brother just a word of warning, if you are putting high Horsepower engines on that and putting some weight on the front, you may want to weld supports in between the toons or you will twist them on take off fairly easy
I love the idea and I'm no engineer but I forsee lots of problems going forwards.
Good luck..
Is it just me, or does nothing get finished anymore?

C is for can't finish a project before he starts another one. Love you guys! Like all the projects. Squeal, on to the next good luck with this build
Add some solid topsides around the bow area to give it some lift and prevent it burying the bow into waves, especially with the weight of that hot tub so far forward you'll bury it straight into a wave or chop and have it wash right through the boat, go watch some videos of people doing that on pontoon boats
He’s no doubt ditching the hot tub, or at least moving it.
You need to collaborate with Zach from Ultimate Rebuilds!!!!... He works with PontoonStuff and builds his own pontoon boats. His boats are really cool and one of his boats has an upper deck.
100% Zach is a good guy and knows his stuff, and maybe able to give some help
Looks great man, i think i would add on demand water heaters for the tub. It then can be a poker table, or empty it when not in use
My biggest concern (aside from not building it right next to the water) is the loads on the pontoons. That break between those “chines” will be a point of extreme stress (20 feet of moment fore and aft). Maybe use 5 pontoons.
My thoughts exactly! It makes for a "bendy spot" where it will stress the welds and the metal skin itself. There's likely a good reason they do not make pontoons that long.

It's been while since I watched a BIFB video, man, it's so nostalgic to see nothing has changed. Setting incredible expectations with such limited time. Classic. Nothing can go wrong.
Great project. For the kayak, if you don't want it to tip over, you might want to plan a pendulum on the side. Like they do in asia and in the pacific
Attaching cones to rear of pontoons will double gas efficiency. Water vortices have to steal energy from somewhere
This will fail harder than the yacht. That's my bet. But should make for good entertainment.
you forgot to include clean, gray, and black water tanks in your design. i think it would be cooler to ditch the hot tub and have that space be like a moon pool where you can just chill in that space, even have heaters warm the immediate water in that area. maybe even a net to keep fish and stuff from encroaching on people chilling there
He should contact that kid in Florida that built the platoon boats but they were Normal sized ones. He can give yall ideas and yall can give him ideas.

B is for Boat. Make an underwater level with a bedroom in it. It'll help with balance and also underwater viewing when the water's clear if you fit marine windows.
There are two big advantages to having out boards. #1: The maintenance is way easier than in I/O or inboard. #2: When you're handling that beast near the dock the ability to look back and see exactly what the angle of your engines is a major help at avoiding a crunch. I would rethink putting your engines under a cover.
Mark my words. This will not end well

you might want to put a ladder and gate at the bottom of the stairs and the slide at the top of the stairs keeping it all on the one side of the pontoon otherwise you are going to have kids spreading a lot of water across every square foot of that pontoon to get back to the top of the slide because they will always swim to the nearest ladder and run the shortest distance. the other way is just a really big ladder all the way to the top deck next to the slide
