- An easy recipe that can be done super quick!
(Side note: please bare with the filming I was new to editing when I filmed and didn’t know how to edit noise out. You can hear my dogs playing in the background)
2 cups All purpose flour
1 tsp salt
1 tbsp sugar
1 tbsp baking powder
6 tbsp Cold lard (or cubed butter)
3/4 cup whole milk
Combined all dry ingredients
Using pastry cutter, cut in lard to dry ingredients. Do this till lard resembles small gravel.
Make a well and add milk. Gently fold into dry ingredients. Once mostly incorporated use hands and gently knead dough to get the last little bit incorporated. Place on work space and flatten out with hand, fold in half, quarter turn and repeat process 4-5 times.
Lightly flour surface and press dough out with hands till it’s about 1/2 in thick.
Cut out and place on cookie sheet that’s not greased.
Place in a oven at 425 and back for 10-12 min.
I miss my momas lard biscuits..they were the best back when I was a kid in the 70s.some sorgum molasses and a big pat of real butter..man was that wonderful..have a blessed one
Sorghum and butter 😍 yum!!!
@@lovelywithlard3208 its really good..mix it up and dip your biscuits in it..
Nothing beats lard for pie crusts. Wow
@@virginialpinon748 I will agree there for shure
I am so glad to see I am not the only one who still uses lard, especially nowadays, lol.
I love cooking with it!!!!
Same here. Grew up in Wisconsin and didn't discover biscuits and gravy until my late 20's working in the south. Same with good BBQ too, it just doesn't exist up there.
Or good pan fried chicken! I was like man! I have been totally missing out!!!
Just made these, with vegetable shortening and bread flour (as that’s all I had) and wowwowowowowowowowwowoww! I wish I could upload a pic, they looked and tasted amazing! Great recipe!
So glad you loved them!!!
I only thing I would do different is use 1 cup buttermilk instead of milk, and up them side by side into a greased with the lard or butter iron skillet. Thanks again!
If you leave off twisting the biscuit cutter, the biscuits will not be lop-sided. Also, place them in the pan touching each other will get a better rise. In the south, most cooks use a cast iron skillet which is perfect for seven or eight biscuits. But your biscuits do look pretty.
Thanks for the great advice!
They will rise higher also by not twisting
You go girl!!!!
We love our Family Okoboji vacation home!!!
I absolutely love that stove behind you! First thing I noticed. Lol most make biscuits with butter, and they are good. But the butter does not agree with my stomach. Been looking for a recipe with lard, cause didn't know the amount of lard. I was putting too much in. I get lard from the Amish and it does make the best biscuits! Thank you 😊
My hubby restored it for me!!! I love that stove! Her name is Cleo!!!
@@lovelywithlard3208 sounds like me! I named my car Bobby bought me Lady! It's a beautiful stove and would love to have an old stove like that with the doors and all. I have an electric stove also but want a gas. Thank you.
People!
Here she goes yet again! This woman knows how to cook far better than you can imagine and if you watch this post you will definitely be out of your mind with hunger in short order!! So be careful and be wise! Only watch with food!
Excellent presentation, and thank you for listing ingredients & amounts. I'll be trying this tomorrow morning!
I've made them a few times now, and now I don't even have to measure :)
I love your Stove. I would be in Hog Heaven if I had one.
Thank you! I love it too!!!
These are the best I ha e ever made perfect.
Biscuits look awesome
Looks AMAZEBALLS!!😋
Thank you!! They are!
Well, I say thank you! My momma made these and they were delicious. Lost the recipe and this looks like it. I can’t wait to make. Thank you and keep doing what your doing. Everything even the dogs were just like my home. I enjoyed it all! Thank you.
You are so welcome!!! Thank you for watching!!
Don’t twist the biscuit cutter. Push straight down then lift up. Twisting seals the sides and prevents high rising. From a Southern bisque cooker.

We love okoboji!!!!!

You can also use shortening.

Is the 425 oven they key to keep them from being doughy in the center?
The high heat helps produce maximum steam. Which helps the biscuits rise as much as possible.
Thanks for sharing new friend here
Can you substitute buttermilk?
Yes you can but will need to adjust other leavening agents
If you use buttermilk
Change baking powder to 1 tsp
And also add 1/2 tsp baking soda
Hope this helps!
Pay no attention to the pool table noises in the background.
My darn puppy! 😩 So sorry! I have since figured out how to edit that background noise out!
Lovely With Lard They seem to know when we’re on the phone or using the camera.
Sorry but the background noises are distracting.
Do U sell your lard? Is it lead lard ?
We use a lot of lard. I do use leaf lard for my baked goods but when I run out I use just plain lard
We don’t sell it just because we use so much! Our friends and family usually get some as gifts
@@lovelywithlard3208 hey do u have used it for cakes? How it tastes? Id like to try 😁
Did someone hurt your dog?
We have one big Labradoodle and a small micro golden doodle and they play hard with each other. I wish I knew what I know now on how to edit that noise out LOL
Oh my gosh what happened to that DOG!!!!!
How much lard measurement

The instruction in the video do not match written
Thank you for the feed back
Can you share which part didn’t match. I went back and rewatched and looked at instructions and I didn’t catch what wasn’t matching.
Thank you
I've been making lard biscuits 45 years when I was a kid I used to watch my grandma make lard biscuits. And also it's kind of hard to hear what you're saying when it sounds like somebody's bowling might not want no background noise in your next videos
Thank you for the feed back!
@@lovelywithlard3208 Loved listening to the busy home noises in the background. Now about that nail polish... :)
Yes. Someone was throwing dice in the background.
What is All That Background NOISE ❗️ Makes It Difficult To Hear Your
Instructions … Also It’s A Bowl … Not Bowell … Not a Wholewell milk
Really ❗️
Thank you for your constructive criticism As stated in the instructions I’m learning, it’s a learning curve, this was one of my first videos. I continue to learn from each video. It’s about the love of cooking and good food. Hope you enjoyed making the biscuits. If you need any help let me know.
