@@RuffMotorsports93 According to Michael himself it was more than rumor. Things were pretty far down that road. Busch's Indy double a couple years later was part of it. Also Andrew Murstien (Richard Petty's business partner) at the time expected they would switch as well.
@@atlfan48 yeah, I really wish they’d been able to put it all together. I still think Andretti global is softly working its way into NASCAR through Spire. But Michael stepping away from the ownership role could change things, I guess. Obviously, the focus is on F1
Happy to bring a little fun nostalgia to your Christmas Eve. I’ve actually started working on the sixth video in the series already and hope to have it out at the end of next week (probably can’t get it done this week)
I remember reading on a few other ones around this time; David Ragan and Kurt Busch, and Ricky Stenhouse were candidates for the #43 in 2012 (Ragan was also rumored for the #22 and #51 rides), Almirola wasnt even brought up until right before he was signed (he was supposed to be in the #88 for a 2nd year in xfinity.) Clint Bowyer was approached for a revived #19 at RPM but that also fell through, and he went to MWR. Kasey Kahne had a rumored Hendrick sponsor named Trina Solar (a Chinese solar panel company) that fell through Greg Zipadelli was rumored to reunite with Tony in the #14 leaving JGR Mark Martin was once linked to the #51 ride with Kahne driving the #5 in 2012 Josh Wise was originally slated to run full time in the #37 for Max Q Motorsports, ended up in the #26 for FRM instead Multiple drivers were rumored for the TRG Motorsports #71 for 2012 including Ragan, Reutimann, and Vickers. Team ended up shutting down however and some of the minority owners went onto form BK Racing.
great video man and either 2002 or 2007 also i remember a rumor that now i'm pretty sure was fake but it was Hermie Sadler to drive the 88 car for Yates after Dale Jarrett left. if that was ever a possibility i guess it didn't pan out
That would have been really cool to see, but probably even worse than his experience at RCR this year, unfortunately. I keep hoping to see Erik Jones be successful in that car
You know I was scared I was gonna have nothing to design over the off season. But I think these videos have ignighted a new design passion for me over the next 2 months
Disney has already done a lot of damage to Star Wars, I can’t stand the idea of them getting their hands on NASCAR. But then again, NASCAR has made some pretty bad decisions over the last 20 years too
The problem with being the ONLY team a manufacturer has is that you have no one to support you with an alliance. Furniture Row didn't just win the championship with Toyota. They had major backing from JGR.
I won’t dispute that. Actually, there is no way I could. I suppose the assumption that I am trying to get at is that Dodge would build around Furniture Row, making them the centerpiece in much the same way as Gibbs is the centerpiece at Toyota. Though you could argue that they failed to do that with Penske, so why would they with Furniture Row? But like I said, I think they were ultimately better off taking the route that they did
There was also a rumor spurred by Robbie Loomis that RPM was interested in Kurt Busch. Happened within weeks of him getting the boot from the 22 car. Also, while it's interesting to speculate what would have happened if some of the rumors came to fruition, I don't believe things would have played out the same. Case in point, would Edwards have retired when he did if he got the 22 car? Does make the speculation a bit more fun because you have to imagine how differently everything would have played out.
Busch to RPM would have been interesting for sure. I see your point about Edwards, but my honest thought is that I think he still would have retired. I think Kenny Wallace presented a pretty good theory that Edwards was basically just over it after how things went down with the 2016 finale. He may not be 100% correct (and I doubt we’ll ever really know) but I think there is at least some truth to it
@ I don’t doubt Edwards felt soured by the poop show that was his final race. The fact it was an incident involving the same 22 car he was pegged for makes it all the more interesting.
Weirdest rumor I ever hesrd where I remember where I was, was Dale Jr hypothesising Kyle Busch going to Richard Childress racing. Saying it would make since and RCR could probably give him the pay he was lookjng for. With everybody calling hin crazy for saying that. I had a sinking feeling that he was correct and that maybe that was going ti happen. And when they finally announced it, I couldn't believe how right he was. I was working as a digital shopper for wal mart at the time, Aisle 15, Cereal.
@@tgs2141 I could see that as a possibility. Although what happens to Ryan Blaney in that situation? Does Edwards still retire and Blaney ends up in the 22? What if AJ Allmendinger DIDN'T Lose His Ride At Penske? ruclips.net/video/aJIwX_CQ5w4/видео.html
Did AJ’s suspension from Penske give Logano 3 championships? It’s not like Roger was going to fire him after the 2012 season was over and Brad was coming off a championship. Joey was most likely heading back to the Xfinity series for 2013 most likely.
@@JGR4LIFE20 I would say that AJ’s suspension certainly had something to do with Logano’s championships. Carl Edwards, to Penske in the 22? And be teammates with BRAD?!? 🤣😂🤣😂🤣 That had to be cooked up by the same whackjob that was saying that bonkers shit at the media center that one day
Speaking of Kurt Busch: the strange rumor that the Jerry Springer show was gonna sponsor Kurt Busch in 2012 at Phoenix racing
That actually would have been really funny!
Imagine having the 6, 53, and the 60 for RFK, That’d be weird ngl
Beyond weird
Very weird!
Well now we have 60
I've never heard of Furniture Row to Dodge...I wish Andretti and Dodge with Kurt Busch happened.
I wanted that Andretti deal to happen too. Still think we could see the Andretti name in NASCAR at some point even with the ownership drama over there

William Byron driving the 5 instead of the 24
