Aj Allmendinger to Gibbs is an interesting “what if?” that could have potentially fed families. He would have had plenty of wins. More than he got them the way it unfolded. I think.
Oh yeah, he’s one of those guys whose talent level isn’t fully captured by the stats sheet. If a couple of things go differently, I think his stats sheet looks way different
Thank you so much! Really means a lot to hear people are enjoying it. I’m having a lot of fun with it. I’ve already got everything for Part 3 written out. Just have to put it together. Hoping to have it out in the next week or two!
Thank you! It means a lot to hear people are enjoying it! I’m having a lot of fun putting these videos together and as long as people are enjoying them then I’ll keep making them! I already have part 3 researched and written out, just need to put it together. Hope to have it out in the next couple of weeks (I’m a “don’t quit your day job” level RUclipsr, so how fast the videos get made kind of depends on work and family obligations haha)
Love these videos. Silly season is always fun for me! 100% agree that KFB needs to run an Indy 500. If for nothing else, to be able to say both Busch brothers did it. But I think Kyle would definitely have a shot at it, just like Kurt.
Thank you! I really appreciate it. I'm actually most of the way done with part 3. Still needs some finishing touches, but I'm hoping to have it out at the end of this week!
Thanks! Sorry to keep people waiting. I’ve actually got part 3 researched and written already, just have to put it all together. Hoping to have a smaller gap this time. Unfortunately things take me a little longer than I’d like sometimes. I’m a “don’t quit your day job” level RUclipsr haha
The idea of Pat McAfee backing an F1 seat for Kyle Busch has me imagining an Ocean’s 11 style movie where Pat McAfee puts together a team to rob a casino in Monte Carlo so they can fund an F1 seat for Kyle Busch and I 100% will watch that movie
Your first rumor is about VW. I can confirm that it went much further than you probably are going to realize that a lot of fans are going to realize. Ultimately the decision was made by the higher brass to focus on the World rally championship instead of focusing on a NASCAR platform. They would have been using a Passat by the way.
It went that high up? Wow. I didn’t know it got that far, I always assumed it was little more than a starter conversation. And if, I told the AI program to model the car off of the Jetta
@@RuffMotorsports93 every decision that Volkswagen makes about Motorsports is at the end of a Cost Benefit Analysis. As far as I know they had started the wind tunnel testing of a mock up body. The engine development would have taken a bit longer because just like Toyota they would have had to do some backwards engineering. Ultimately the project was ended because of the cost of development that may not have benefited them on a much wider scale.
Yeah, I can believe that the cost/benefit analysis is not making sense for anyone over the last 10-15 years. Dodge, Honda, and VW all have been talked about and none have actually followed through. I really think that NASCAR should start a hydrogen fuel cell series to give the manufacturers a proving ground for new technology and maybe help them with the benefit side of the cost benefit analysis. Add more R&D to go with the marketing that manufacturers get now.
Volkswagen can’t be a race car? Herbie: Am I joke to you? Lol. Love the content. Does being a Herbie fan count as being a Volkswagen fan. He did have a NASCAR movie. 😅
Its wild that AJ went from not being certain if the 44 ride would last more than a few races due to sponsorship to RPM deeming him so valuable they had to extend him to protect him just two months later
The AJ’s career has really been a wild ride. I think there are times when he still doesn’t get the appreciation he deserves. Were it not for that horrible first season with Red Bull (where they threw him in the deep end way too early) and the suspension while he was at Penske, I think he would get a lot more recognition
Truex seemed to have a lot of rumors attached to him around those last couple of years at DEI. I came across a Truex to Penske rumor too, which had him headed to the 12 car. Apparently Jr lobbied really hard to get Rick Hendrick to hire him too
Kyle Busch to F1 is a new one to me. I always heard rumors about him running the Indy double but Toyota and Gibbs said no. Rumor had it everything was lined up for the 4th Arrow McLaren seat until Larson and Hendrick got it
@@JoelMickells it seems like the Kyle Busch to F1 thing never went much further than the principal of US F1 really wanting him. I still think it is going to be a tragedy is he never gets to run the Indy 500 though
Bobby to RCR could've been interesting bc on the rare occasion in thay period he had some giant killing runs like a p5 on merit in las vegas 09 and some other top 10-15s with TRG and Phoenix
I’m currently doing research for the next video for this series, but while I’m reading through stories, I’m realizing I may need a video on all of the solid free agency opportunities that Bobby Labonte has that just never panned out. It’s really wild. There were multiple times that he could’ve been in good rides after his time at Gibbs
Kyle Busch to F1?! I'm sorry, but he could attempt the Indy 500 someday. But his brother Kurt raced a F1 car and the F1 driver raced his car in 2013 at COTA I believe.
No that never happened, he did a ride swap with V8 Supercars series champion James Courtney in 2013. Courtney tested an F1 car in the early 2000s but that’s it.
A crazy scenario I thought of back in the day that never came to fruition was what if Danica Patrick suddenly became pregnant in June or July. That would put her to having a baby early in the next season around March or April… the headline would be “Danica to miss first couple months of next season. However, if she can win a race & be in the top 30 odds the standings.. NASCAR has already granted her a waiver”
Yeah thought about situations similar to that people and I think it is definitely going to be an interesting day if we ever see it. I think NASCAR would have to give out a waiver because they’ve never said no before, even if the race was missed due to a suspension and not for health reasons.
That's one scenario I'd discussed with a roommate back then, but I'd figure she'd just be out for the season. Ain't no way to justify taking that risk, and particularly with how often she wrecked. No way in hell they'd let her run, sponsor obligations be damned
I’m in the u.k. Huge supporter of MASCAR . Would love to see some European cars in it - bmw , jaguar , Mercedes , I already know that these 3 do a v8 engine
Sweet! It's always cool to hear that there are people outside of the states who enjoy NASCAR too! I'm actually opposed to European cars in NASCAR. I'm a Toyota fan and obviously they are a Japanese company, but VW just always seemed like an odd fit to me. Like I said, I don't think there are a whole lot of NASCAR fans that are diehard VW fans. Actually, BMW is a company that really interests me when it comes to NASCAR. Obviously, they are a luxury brand (at least here, I assume there as well, but you'll have to forgive my ignorance with many things related to European culture), but I made a video a while back saying that NASCAR should have a Hydrogen Fuel Cell series to attract new manufacturers and BMW has said they want to have a hydrogen car in the consumer market by 2030, so I think they would be a really interesting fit for a hydrogen series. Yeah, I think the number of hardcore NASCAR fans driving BMWs every day is small, but the technology side of it gets me really excited and I would love to see BMW involved in that.
And a Daytona 500 win And got to race with Earnhardt plus getting flipped off by Dale And raced in and won in four different manufacturers (him and kahne. I wonder if either of them ever drove a Pontiac when those were still in the sport if they've won in those too
1:58 don't ever do that shit. It's better to ask any actual human to draw something with broken crayons than that garbage. It's still Go Real Or Go Home
Oooh good question! One always wondered how much of that was Pitbull being interested in NASCAR originally and how much was Justin Marks getting him into it. Marks seems to have a talent for showing people how cool things can be and getting them excited/enthusiastic. I feel like every time I hear him interviewed I wind up pumped for whatever new plan he’s working on. The man is a visionary.

I love these!! Juan Pablo Moyota running for Gibbs would’ve been very great for his career.
Thanks! I’m sure that if we see Montoya at Gibbs for a few years then he for sure gets that elusive oval win!
That kinda came true with the one off at the Glen with 23XI

He did wind up there. With a different insurance sponsor
