  • Want to Fix your iPhone/Ipad/Ipod with out taking it apart? its very simple and easy to do with just minutes of your time. Just use some Isopropyl Alcohol (90%) or higher for best results. rub it into the home button for a few secs with the PHONE TURNED OFF and tap the rest out or let dry for a least a few mins (2-3 minutes) clean the junk out from the sides and it should work a lot better then before.

You're a brilliant man! I had a "Dorothy, you had the power all along." moment! (wizard of oz) Funny, that crossed my mind, but I clearly thought the fix would have to be more sophisticated than this! My dad always went by the adage that a clean machine operates with little down time, thanks Heath.....

Thank you. I used my spray screen cleaner. Rubbed it into the home button area for a bit. Tapped back and presto, home button functioned. I do a lot of screen shots so the home button has gotten a lot of work past few years. Take care.

it does work with water but not as well as the alcohol. if the button is stuck. try putting a plug into the iphone or ipad or what ever it is. bend it up and down. and see if that frees up the item that is stuck inside. it might also free up any thing that needs to be moved around to get it loose. hope it work.
    Cheers

My home button has been broken for quite a long time and I would love to fix it with this trick because my iPod has recently had some other issues lately (such as freezing and all buttons being unresponsive for hours and hours) and all i can do is continue to restore it due to it not allowing me to reset it. I am scared to try it because i do not want this to completely damage it. Is it fully guaranteed that this trick will not damage my iPod touch?

this is something that happens when dirt and junk gets in the button. its just makes it sticky and not work as well as it should. it happens to every Iphone, Ipad, or Ipod that i have owned that i used alot or got dirty. like put my phone in my pocket with sand and or dirt. or sticky soda on my hands and use the iphone. get the point? just do it every so often
and it will keep it working like new!
    Cheers

I would think the alchohol would actually risk damaging the components inside the Ipod, i'm not saying your idea is wrong. Thats actually not a bad idea, however i'm a little hesitant trying that, I think my Home button (have a 4th Gen Ipod Touch) has sunk in somehow due to me pressing it quite a bit. I like your idea very much, but I think i'll wait until to do that for the last resport. But thank you for doing that sir :)

Petrol (aka gasoline) dissolves the adhesives used to hold the screen, button and many other components in place, and leaves a little residue after it evaporates.

please explain more. but from the sounds of it. it need a hard RESET. so press the home and power button on the top when the phone is on till the screens goes black and then you will see the apple logo. do this 3 times and it SHOULD reset it and clean all the RAM. if that does not work use itunes and do a software reset.

Is there anything else u can use apart from alcohol?

    • @Tyrone181
      @Tyrone181 10 лет назад

Try a drop of acetone nail polish remover and a cotton swab.
      1) Fill the cap with enough nail polish remover so that it covers the bottom.
      2) Take a cotton swab and dip it in the solution.
      3) While keeping the iPhone/iPod home button SLIGHTLY tilted toward you*, take the swab and firmly press down on the outer edges of the home button in a circular motion (it may take a while for the dirt to completely come out, so be patient).
Try this ONLY IF YOUR WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED. Doing so will void warranty.
*If you tilt the device the other way (tilting the charger side up) will cause the liquid to go into the screen and make things worse.

ya but if you know any thing about isopropyl alcohol. is that it drys super fast. plus it dries with no signs of ever being in there. if you are "afraid" of what the warning labels say... then dont use your phone when you have wet hair, you are sweating, its raining out side, or any thing. this trick will not ruin your phone.

take the old style ipod charger. the large one. put it in and press very easy on it up and down causing the metal part that is inside the ipod to move toward the screen and back toward the back of the case. this should break it loose. if this does not work. DONT FORCE IT! you will break it doing this hard. try doing the alcohol trick again but use a little bit more. let it soak. and do it a few more times. if it does not work. its broke. sorry
