Today, is my first day as a rookie truck driver that I will be alone in the truck hauling wood chips. yesterday we had a snow storm and I didn’t want my first time to be driving in that. So today, I sure hope the roads are fine so I can finally break the ice and get through it. I know I need to get this one day done so I can finally breathe and tell myself, I’ll be ok. You all know how that first time when you are alone in that truck, is a special one! :)
The More you drive in the weather the more comfortable you will feel. But make sure you never get too comfortable or let your guard down..that's when it will bite you. Congrats on the One year. Keep it up.
@@bonniegardner1154 Different people have different levels of comfort in weather driving. What may be uncomfortable for one individual isn't necessarily that way for another person. If you feel it's unsafe pull it over.
i'm 58 years old. i live in the upper peninsual of michigan. the more experience during the winter the better. but at the same time the older you get the more you hate/uncomfortable you get driving during the winter when it's snowing, especially at night. when i was a lot younger, i would love to drive when it was actively snowing hard. it was a challenge. now, i think of all the potential problems. old age messes with your head.
While going 45mph is absolutely fine in those conditions, if others are still doing 70, you pretty much need to have one eye looking at the mirrors and the other arlt the road ahead. Don't be afraid to use the 4ways for a few seconds if you see someone flying up behind you. Give them some warning that you are much slower than them. Driving with the 4ways on is not good and is illegal in some states. But they are there to warn others of a hazard so feel free to use them that way.
@@timmartin2142 *knows, *his. Even if he knows, some drivers watching and reading the comments may not know. They may benefit from the knowledge and experience of others who have much more than one year of driving experience.
Never thought I’d say this, but now that I’m local in Florida. I kind of miss driving in the snow, especially day time and you driving thru towns and not the highway. I find it somehow relaxing
I drove through Minnesota snow storm with less than a year of experience. I saw several trucks slide off of the road that were driven by companies like the LTL companies and UPS, and so on and I made it through. Slow but sure.
Kevin nosed it in there last night. Must have been tired. Driving slower, 45 or even less and keeping your situational awareness is key. Even for 4 wheelers like me. Getting too comfortable can cause trouble. That being said, good job Kevin. Have a good week and stay safe.
Lol! Actually his parking had him set to pull out going forward. But then he got boxed in. Luckily it was a nice big straight back area behind him. :-)))
Happy Labor Day!! Apparently the cold refuses to go away and complicarse it a bit. But when you love what you do even the most adverse things are beautiful.
Congratulations Kevin!! Starting June 6, I'll be back on the road traveling all lower 48. Hope to see you & your wife at one of the truck stops. Be careful out there driver.
Congratulations on your first full year to you both! Been folling you from the first video, and I am planning to go into the industry in August. Would love to ask questions about your experience from a Werner standpoint. Do you happen to have an email address I could send you correspondence? Thanks and stay safe!!
Great videos. You are doing a great job!!! When you have time and it is appropriate can you show some backing and the challenges you have. Thank you for all you do.
Thank you Jeff! We have some backing videos on the channel but are discussing how to make one to really discuss how to do the different maneuvers and the challenges of each. Since we don’t have a drone maybe we’ll do a toy truck overhead view. Stay tuned. Thanks for your question!!!
Good job driving and awesome you’ve made it a year. I hear from the radio you are about 2 months behind so can’t wait to hear about any new developments:)
Good video but I’d like to suggest you keep the volume same or below speech level so the viewers don’t have to increase volume when you speak and lower it when you don’t. The music is loud Thanks for the post.
I have a question.. so let's say it's snowing you know you have to drive slower. Does your reciever and company know it'll take longer to deliver than expected?😊
Curious that you would choose the toll road (4:25) in the Denver area. Does Werner compensate you for all tolls or just when "absolutely necessary" (like back east)?
I have heard so many conflicting answered to using Jake brake in the snow they said you shouldn't that ur tires can lock up and jack knive which is correct?
They got the Gps now We didn't have it when I was driving all we had was a map book and a radio . actually it was safer believe me it forced you to monitor your radio we didn't even have a Cell. But it was a lot safer I believe ! .people talking on cell phones screw that !
Werner likes to charge people with every little incident like hitting curbs or minor damages to vehicle. I'm wondering if Kevin has had any such problems with werner in his first year??
Aren’t you sweet! We took a few days off after a family wedding. I did put a post in the community posts to announce we’d be back with videos later in the week. Had hoped for today but it will be tomorrow. Thanks for checking on us!!

Of you ever get comfortable driving in winter conditions then you're asking for trouble...never never get comfortable on the winter!@@@

Yes. Thanks. We’ve been working in improving that. Glad you enjoyed the video.
If it's snowing that's always a good sign when driving, when it's not snowing that's when you know you're going to be sliding all over the place.
good morning

We use that toll road to avoid bad traffic. We’ve never been questioned or had to pay for any toll road Kevin has deemed a better option.
Never drive co in the winter. Always a different way to go
I work for Werner they took out manual mode in automatic trucks, how do you get down mountains in slick conditions with a heavy load
Use your Jake Brake. The transmission will gear down accordingly. Start slow at the top of the hill.
I have heard so many conflicting answered to using Jake brake in the snow they said you shouldn't that ur tires can lock up and jack knive which is correct?
You are in the frozen tundra of lambeau field. A quote from Chris from Monday night football.
Lol! Yup!
What are you two up to, 5 days in a snowbank ?
Lol!!! Nope…sandbar!!!
Want it in the dock or the ditch is what i say

You have a good point! Some people are irresponsible with their cell phones.
This really is making me nervous
Werner likes to charge people with every little incident like hitting curbs or minor damages to vehicle. I'm wondering if Kevin has had any such problems with werner in his first year??
We hadn’t heard that. Kevin had no problems like that at all.
Where are you guys??? No vids in days, Are you ok???

Zestyyyyyyy
BEING A ROOKIE ISN'T BAD UNLESS YOU DON'T FOLLOW THE HIGHWAY CONDITIONS IN WINTER.
