Love the way you turned your lights down to make the reversing drivers task easier, big respect
In Europe all drivers do that
World's Largest Quik Trip was a quick trip.... quick trip through the parking lot and all of us collectively saying "Son of a bitch" with Steve when he couldn't get moving.
As a younger driver (22) going through my first winter on the road running my route through the Midwest, from southern Ontario to Minneapolis and back twice a week, I can say storms like these have been a very good learning experience “ThE BoMb CyClOnE” had me stuck in Battle Creek MI until Christmas Eve, for instance. I run a CB in my truck and it’s saved my butt on numerous occasions, as I don’t run Waze or Google Maps I’m basically relying on good old 27.185 and my own, albeit very small winter driving skill set when it comes to weather like that. I do feel like I’m in a small group of rookies who’ve got CBs though, but when I’m on that radio warning drivers of “truck jackknifed hanging out of the ditch at the 135 yardstick, grab those left lanes westbound” that old Galaxy blows up with responses. Trucking ain’t what it used to be but there’s still guys like me out here trying to keep it as close as possible.
Keep it shiny side up Steve, I hope to be able to see you strollin down the road one day in Orwell.
Nice to hear you use a CB like my dads group of truckers did ( 46-82). Why more truckers don’t use term amazes me
@@arthurbrumagem3844 Why would you? Only folks that use CBs are racists and/or super truckers.
I think it is regional for CB usage. Some areas I'm in there isn't a peep from CB and others the radio is squawking half the day. When I run through Atlanta, it's usually late and there are some good old school drivers out. I had some 4 wheelers and plastic trucks playing games, so I put the hammer down and made that Kitty Cat sing. Thankfully another driver warned me about the smokey on my backdoor before he gave me a welcome to GA party 😂
@@Mark-vu8ct Gotta love Hotlanta 😂
Sure don't miss driving in the snow..be safe out there Steve
That old school Peterbilt Truck of yours is my favorite. Ever since the early 90's I always wanted to drive one and still to this day love seeing them.
Anyone else think that tanker @ 26:30 sounded a bit like Boomhauer from "King of the Hill?"
Now I'm imagining a spinoff with Boomhauer the Gearjammer. 😋
Night driving and snow makes it all very Difficult. 🔝 Video
I love Cabovers, what a great truck‼️👍🏽
Hello there! I'm from Brazil, as you know,we don't have anu snow, but Mud, road holes, animal crossing, heavy rains, and lack of gás stations that you can Trust to refuel and stay overnight
Pulling into a truck stop with warm tires and the lot is snow packed, it does not take very long to melt into that snow pack, and get stuck! What I found was the best was to drive around as your tires cool down, scope the parking spots available, pick one, and pull up and back a few times to make yourself a track to get you going in the morning! Winter driving is just part of the deal, if you live in the Mid-West! I always packed a propane torch, and a few extra bottles, to thaw things out, after stopping! Saved my a$$ a few times, and others too if they needed it! Truck-em safe, Steve!
Slush Road trucking, everything you will get slapped on to your truck and trailer. Safe drive out their between the 4 wheelers and 18 wheelers.
Those Amazon guys don’t have cb’s lol 😂
Man that’s sketch weather.
Kudos to all the truckers that do what they do to keep us fed, clothed, and have our useless Knick knacks lol.
Cheers
That was a bad storm last week. Glad I was inside watching it all come down. Drivers out there, take care.
it astounds me at how badly people drive in the bad weather such as this. it shouldn't, but it does. and you have to realize that every year, new drivers are on the road that haven't dealt with it before. And people forget, or they're tired, or they can't deal with it. So each and every time it's a major risk being next to them, it never goes away.
Im a trucker N I respect Wether n if you going through the middle line is better right line is for local traffic coming in and out.
GLAD YOU FOUND A STOP IN THAT WEATHER. MADE ME COLD JUST WATCHING. BRRRR!
Lol
When I was 5 years old my family was on 285 in Atlanta and spun off the road down into a ditch my dad had to flag the cops down to get help this was 70s no cellphone service 😂great video keep up the good work God bless from GA and stay safe
Excellent video Steve. Have a safe rest of your trip! Keep on truckin! 👍💯🇺🇸
Great, enjoyable video Steve,,, At one point i thought that i was at the movie with 3-D glassed on. Wow what come great driving content. You came up to some shady traffic at times. I'm an (RET) Ol School Trucker and that ride with you and '' Orwell '' bought back some old memories of trucking back in the early 80's. I really enjoyed you getting on that CB radio and talking. I haven't seen that in years. Except about a year ago when this other driver yelled at you for driving an Cab Over but you shut him up on the CB. TWO THUMBS UP !!! Stay safe and keep putting out these great videos..
Bonecrusher out of Richmond, Virginia.. ''' Peace Brother Trucker....
I just found your channel within the last couple days. I've already watched many of your videos. Love the truck, love the content, and love your personality. SUBSCRIBED
30:45 is where the power went out and poor orwell got stuck
I feel bad for the people that do get stuck
Gotta love that Green APU in this weather.
Hey, Wishing You The Best, Always Makes My Day Watching Your Stuff. God Bless
Even the big old sedans versus a semi is a no brainer
I grew up in Vermont. I now live in Phoenix, AZ. I don't miss driving in that stuff AT ALL!!
I'm so glad I moved to Yuma Arizona. I've had my time in the snow and ice to fill a Life time. 🤠😎
From Wisconsin like big boy 4 62 years. Going 2 Prescott in 2 weeks. Retiring in 3 weeks. Had enough of white knuckle driving 🚗!
I always like looking at the snow & salt accumulation on my truck, battle scars😂
Stay warm out there. Be safe.
Your a awesome driver and I like your trucking your awesome at both
I may be crazy, but I sure miss that winter driving
Your not crazy Wesley, your a driver, just like me, I miss it also
That one green Coronado with the strobes on in the rest stop looked like Tim Gentry's Coronado. 20:50
I just now noticed the middle wiper..been watchin for i dont know how long! 🤣
Great job Steve keep moving
Keep all that snow. I mowed my lawn today. I did have to wear long pants as it is cold for Florida.
How's gators, snakes, rats, iguanas, skeeters ?
Good job Steve, and be safe out there.
Wish I could do a little trucking myself be safe love them cabovers
Always gd time pulling a double drop in the snow mt clean the road for me 👌
gotta remember there a lot of young drivers that don't have a lot experience driving trucks, so be careful
Driving in the center lane is actually taught in defensive driving … drive in the center so if something happens in front of you. You have two avenues to avoid … lane to the right or a lane to the left …
So glad I finally caught a Boomhauer on your radio 😆 dang ole love it
THAT EXHAUST
WOW NICE DEEP RUMBLE TO IT
Yes you are right not park on right side of road
Some companies use those fuel mileage tires where a third of the tire is a slick. But if you got road spray, those moppets are more of a hazard then being safe driving like that.
I started with Schneider over 30 yrs ago and it seemed they used trailer tires as drives.
Drive according to the road
Orwell dosent like slush or salty roads he's better than that loves warmer weather
Thanks for taking me along for the ride
I sure Know what I don't miss about hauling BLATZ from Milwaukee !!
Gotta love those " merry-go-rounds "!!!!
THE BOMB CYCLONE OMG IM GONNA DIE
Glad u found some parking Steve to get off the highway be safe bruh
Steve always enjoy watching your video be safe out there
Great video FSC. Good footage from wet roads to greasy roads to out right getting slippery. Yup running empty in that stuff is no fun but if ya keep your foot out of it which you did you can go for miles like that. It does get stressful at times. It’s knowing when to hold’em and knowing when to fold them. When to walk away and when to run. It’s nice to see you stayed out there for as long as you did. Seat time in all weather is a drivers best friend. It’s like I told the president of Day & Ross in Canada, I never learned anything in the pickle park. You still can learn a lot in very bad weather doing 45 MPH. Anywho FSC loved the video, have a great and a safe day. Happy trails and happy motoring.
Waze is useful for lane conditions. It was spot-on as I came through Cleveland and up through Erie early this morning. When the color turns orange, that represents at least one lane is available and not snow-covered. When that orange turns to read, that represents complete snow cover on the road surfaces.
I'm always surprised just how accurate it is.
Accidents and road conditions.. A must have while trucking. The amount of tickets it has saved me from as well as the slowdowns which are coming right ahead..... I can't recommend it enough if you are a trucker.
Thanks for the ride. Be safe out there.
I LIKE KWIK TRIP ALSO THEY ARE USUALLY ALWAYS CLEANER, GOOD FOOD, AND BETTER PARKING LOTS, AND THEIR EMPLOYEES USUALLY KNOW WHAT THEY DOING.
And they generally have good prices
Great video Steve thanks for sharing your trip into the snow storm. Atleast you were able find a parking spot. Looking forward to your next video safe travels Steve.
Cool driving and navigation under those crazy driving conditions. Steve, you are the man! Safe travels!!
That southern draw on cb sounded like king of the hill.. pick a lane lol ✌️
An Amazon trailer, what a surprise. You know they ain't got a radio.
95% of them fall into steerholder category ,that was one of them
If they do they cant understand Engish !!
Glad you got park safe Steve from your camera views looks like truck were crowded you on the roadway Be safe pal
I would think that Orwell would be warmer as the cab is over the engine rather than behind it. But I am certain your apu keeps you warm as you sleep!
i love to listen your open pipes old exhaust sound
Yah that sounds great 👍
I love the idea in the 4wheel drives, thinking he or she can't wreck
Fire up that Green APU and snooze away the storm.
Using Hazard lights (4 ways), at more than crawling pace is dangerous to others.
Nice bit of snow, or not, great job Steve, thanks for sharing
Why is it dangerous
1:05 PRIME example of a steering wheel holder! 😂😂
God bless you on your travels
Great videos, be careful and safe on the road 👍 love your cabover awesome,
When I was driving, that was one of my biggest peeves. Drivers running there 4 way flashers while driving in the middle lane or hammer lane. And you had no idea what they were doing or if they were going to change lanes right in front of you.
I agree 100%, they should not be used at any speed above crawling.
@@bostedtap8399 I used mine only as you said and to warn those behind me that traffic ahead was coming to a sudden slow down or stop in areas you normally would not be slowing down or stopping. As a veteran driver, "old", I also always used mine when backing my trailer, whether at the truck stop or customer. Very seldom do I see this done today, but hey, it's the new breed of drivers today.
@@dougnorton5143 Hi Doug, again well said.
Best regards John
Question how fast should you go using your four ways?
@@thanors2 Well in just my opinion, if you are driving 15 or more miles per hour under the posted speed limit would be a good estimate. But I tried to never use mine unless something hazardous was happening in front of me or I was in heavy fog. Driving in white out conditions would be another good example. But I used to watch trucks and 4 wheelers zipping along in a downpour in the left lane with the flashers on so I would say that is a stupid time to be using them. And while I'm already there, parking on the shoulder with nothing but park lights on has gotten more people killed all because the driver thought this is a good place to park for whatever reason. I personally have witnessed more than one vehicle try to drive under a semi trailer in the dark or pouring down rain because the driver zoned out and thought the truck was on the road and was moving along at road speed. 4 ways always on when parked on a shoulder or exit ramp. When I did need to stop, while on the road I at least always tried to make that stop on the entrance ramp. That way, if a vehicle did hit me, their travel speed should be a lot less than their exit speed off the interstate. But that's just the way I rolled. You may think differently and I'm not going to debate anyone here on procedure. Cheers!
Orwell getting passed by JB HUNT.!!!
Ole JB rolling that railway freight !!!
Hey Steve you stay safe out there. Less than 2 weeks to go before MATS.
Sure is a sloppy time of year. It can sure warm up anytime. I'm a hundred miles straight west of the cities. We got a good blow outta this storm.
This is the *_thrill_* of trucking
It goes from a thrill to the agony of defeat in a split second.
Awesome Job of Driving!!!!
Great winter driving skills my friend. Safe traveling from the Great State of Maine.
that parking is crazy............like seattle .....no parking at all.!
Nice singing on the situation with the driving
You are always knocking someone, nobody is a supposed super trucker like you.... And you go on and on.....😂😂😂
What you said about leaving trucks in ditches.. they do that on certain highways in Alberta. If the truck is off the road they'll just leave it til the storms over then call the tow trucks in
Enjoyed that. You just keep on keeping on.
How many years have you been driving professionally OTR FSC you seem to criticize everybody else's driving you make some good points, but I imagine you f..k up at times.
Great video Steve
Nothing like a white knuckle drive
Good evnin brother hope you have a great safe blessed week 🙏
I like your videos Mr keep on trucking
ha! that one guy on the CB sounded like boomhauer from king of the hill
Happiness is getting the last legal parking spot at the truck stop just as the snow / ice starts really coming down hard.
Get back in there where its warm and give that pillow head and we will see you tommorow😄⭐⭐⭐⭐
That Kwik trip was true to it's name, you were in and out so fast lol I just found your channel a few days ago but am loving it so far! keep on rollin
Awesome driving bud !!
You are so right.
I spent many years being a man in the tow truck feeling like a Target
Great video Steve hope all is well buddy? Ya your not kidding about them 4 wheelers making ya nervous they scare me to death in any KINDA bad weather bud.
I absolutely LUV to drive in snow
Hey Steve
Those drivers wouldn’t know channel 19 from any TV channel
They live by there GPS and cell phone
Probably couldn’t understand their broken English if they can speak English at all
Keep on truckin brother!
Great video.....
Steve the Kennedy Expressway Chicago. 90/94 major construction next 3 years or longer
I love kwik trip. Good coffee, good food.
That was stressful just watching!
