Honestly, it’s one of my favorite games ever. Feels fresh and interesting and looks surprisingly good for quest. It’s best when I role play an assassin, talking out loud and moving like I’m in a movie makes it much better too lol.
@@MobikSaysStuff I got that game with my Quest 3 and it is boring. I feel like the standards for VR are too low just because it's niche. graphically the games are fantastic, but I actually don't think that matters for VR, it's world building and immersive gameplay, the number of things you can interact with and how and the chain reactions it can cause.
As a big Dishonored fan and someone who restart from the last checkpoint everytime i'm spotted, I absolutely loved ACN, the melee combat is definitely not great but as you said, we simply have not to use it unless absolutely forced to, especially when knifed are that good
One thing I love is the parkour. I actually prefer over all other AC games’, since it’s so responsive, as instead of waiting for the character to do what you’re trying to do, you’re the one executing it, allowing for 100% control.
I played Nexus as a tester in June last year (2022). They acted on all my feedback, except for the combat mechanics, the parry and counter trope doesn't carry well to VR where you're not in 3rd person. The rest of the game even back then was amazing.
So I’m a few hours into the game. And I have been definitely enjoying it. It’s one of the better VR experiences I’ve had in a while. My biggest gripe with the game would be that it shows me where all of the guards are all the time. Weather with that white circle or the alert thing above their heads. I would rather it not tell me and just use audio cues when they’ve spotted me. Other than that I think it’s great!
Not only are these videos entertaining, but they also help me make decisions on what games to get. Thanks Virtual Bro Reviews for the work put into your content.
I gotta be honest, I'm surprised you mentioned the FPS issue... I didn't have a single problem like that on my Quest 2. Same with the recallibration, I only had that happen once and it was due to the headset running low on battery. I do hope they fix those issues for anyone that's suffering them! Regarding the combat, I honestly really liked it, even if it felt kinda clunky sometimes when fighting multiple enemies. What I absolutely loved was that, once you're surrounded, you can REALLY take advantage of everything you can do; launch yourself against ranged enemies to get them before they shoot (you can even hit their weapon while they aim to stop them from shooting), then throw daggers to stop others as you fight one enemy, reposition, and so on. It feels SO good once you get the hang of it. Anyway, great review and amazing video! And congratulations on the channel growing so much, it deserves even more!

I would say this is a fun game for the immersion of feeling like an assassin, and stealth gameplay is great. The combat and parkour however are quite janky and feel buggy and unresponsive, with the character rarely doing exactly what you want them to. I think you expressed clearly my thoughts on the combat, but I have different thoughts on the parkour and climbing: I legitimately thought the final boss of the game was going to be a ledge I had to jump up to and grab midair, because the game would just never register when I wanted to grab ledges and climbing holds midair. I literally got stuck on the first ledge grabbing tutorial in the game, spending nearly 10 minutes to grab onto the ledge. Additionally, the character would often randomly let go or launch themselves sideways for no reason, which is just more infuriating every time it happens, and you take fall damage. The game sorely lacks any ability to climb down a ledge, and I found I got stuck on rooftops multiple times, forced to jump and take fall damage as my only way of getting down. Fortunately, your fall damage is really low, and I never actually died to it, even when jumping from some crazy heights. For some reason, you also can no longer do leaps of faith wherever you want, only from designated jumping points. There were many more gripes I had with the climbing and parkour systems, like how you can't run while looking to the side, how the character sometimes refuses to jump when you need them to, and more, but all in all, I would say they definitely have a LONG way to go before the parkour feels good. Despite this I had a lot of fun overall.
Personally I’m hoping for some kind of assassins creed title to allow for a mass crossover. Use the memories collected in the databases to create AI copies of each of the protagonists so they can do stuff on their own in the simulation instead of just a person having to generally follow what they did in a certain place and time. Throw them all together in an avengers endgame type thing and/or have them “time travel” via being dropped into each-other’s sequences. Maybe have it happen because of isu tech if that doesn’t normally work in the normal animus rules. Or say f&($ it and just have one of the isu things allow for straight up time travel. Very good and solid review.☝ AC is my absolute favorite VR experience now. I really can't compare it with anything else! I think this game should only be played on hard difficulty if you want it show itself fully, including melee combat as on hard difficulty enemies move faster and block harder, so it feels really really great and immersive. The combat is really versatile and limited only by imagination. For whoever will be reading on Q3(at least up to firmware v60) any heavy game will runs much smother if you start it load to some menu and then quit and restart. AC's performance optimization is really impressive.
Thank you very much to provide knowledge to this GenerationBreaking advance in gaming hystorie. Seeing forward to include a VR set in my EQ at some day. Seems to become a very must in the future.
Its such a great game! Just finished it a couple of days ago and now on to Ashards Wraith 2! But when I get through that I do plan on going back to ACN and 100% it. Solid 8/10! Hopefully a sequel is being made since I know this game is selling very well on quest. Next is Bulletstorm VR and Attack on Titan VR and maybe GTA San Andreas 🤞
I had thought it would be cool to continue this trend and do a new trio of assassins too. But I think it would be better if they committed to a new location and new assassins' story. Maybe Spain, it could have cool naval combat as well.
I love that you immediately touched on the topic, which was the reason i started to search for videos on ACN. I am so disappointed with combat. This almost turn-based style is so annoying and it's also off-putting, how enemies charge up their attack. I am already in blocking stance and they do a slow-mo wind up (even on highest difficulty). If i need to block before i can attack, at least attack me quick.
I'm slightly ashamed it took me until just yesterday to purchase and play this game. It is wild how good it is. One thing I was blown away with was the Animus experience. As someone who enjoys working in VR (Immersed, Horizon Workspace, etc), the Animus workspace is what we all wish we could have for a virtual desktop experience.
Even with people’s complaints about the combat not being physics based like Blade & Sorcery, the ranged combat with your bow or crossbow is very fun to do.
I honestly think its the price. Most VR games are for the most part pretty accessible in terms of price. It doesn't feel like a huge commitment like a normal AAA game price. This AC VR game is close to that AAA price and I feel that's the large reason of why not many might be excited. AC VR looks great but if you don't already own some of the other standout titles you have to make that comparison and for the same price you can get 2-3 solid titles too. But it does look amazing and I know I'll be grabbing it on it's first sale.
Walking into Monteriggioni in VR was such a nostalgic moment, loved it... Really like the game, sure it has its problems but overall a really great experience
I completely agree! And I had the same incredibly nostalgic feeling seeing that location in VR. To me, this game proves that it can be done, now they just need to iterate and improve with a sequel.
i dont usually comment on videos (sadly). But i wanted to take the time and say how much i appreciate your honesty and attention to details while making this video. I just got my meta quest 2 and im a fan of the AC series. i was very sceptical of this game bc of the reviews. but this video got me thinking about buying the game while knowing the potential flaws it might have. subscribed :D
I remember seeing your first video and thinking it was one of many videos from a huge channel and then realizing that it was a channels first video! I was so impressed!
Did you just reply in like 10 minutes! Wow! Also, Thanks to you I have Broken Edge, Breachers, Dungeons of Eternity, and Out of the Shadows and they are my 4 favorite games!
Assassins creed had dual takedowns killing the enemy seperately i think the point of them not allowing you too stab two at once would be for you to break one kill the other and comeback to the second. for example there was a takedown where you would run do a flying jab with your hiddenblade on one whilst kicking the others knee midair, land and then you would pull the blade out of the first one and slice the second ones neck. Ubisoft got rid of dual hiddenblades in newer games but the vr game still has them so im not too sure why they would give us the two hiddenblades like the old games yet handicap is like the newer ones. Connor and edwards dual jump assassination should still work. just stab one jump over his body and get to the other.
The combat made this basically unplayable for me, I really wanted to like this game mostly cause ezio is in it but I played maybe twice and haven’t touched it since the parkour is amazing but the rest is lacking like a lot…… now if blade and sorcery got this parkour system… now your talking
I am so glad I didn't listen to all of the critics Hating on this game. I love this game It is amazing, there are so many different scenes in this game and they are all very immersive. I Cannot understand How this game is a stand-alone to VR game. It seems like something you would get on PC VR. The gameplay maybe A little stupid And I wish They went with A blade and sorcery Type combat instead. That being said I have a great time just walking around in some of these scenes. The amount of life With the NPCS As they are going about their daily activities is simply astounding for a stand alone game. I do recommend this game I really think you'll get your money's worth!!
When you’re doing a assassination with your throwing knife, it’s better to like spin it if you like move your hand and then click the button like the button that usually is the trigger then it will like spin and then it’s better to assassinate which you can basically do that with any weapon you can like spin the axe the sword I think maybe
Here's a big tip, be an actual assassin so you don't have to worry about Gameplay fighting. The game becomes much more immersive that way. To everyone complaining about the fighting, you're supposed to be an assassin So get over it.
Thank you for saying that because that’s EXACTLY what I thought! It feels like a throwback to the style of AC games that actually got me into the series!
oh so that's why i couldn't finish the toturial and climb the wall.. I needed to recalibrate!! i bought the game 2 weeks ago, still haven't played it past that frustrating toturial part, whenever I jump in, take 5 minutes trying to grab the edge but can't, so I close the game and switch to something else smh
@@Iron_Soil Well, for one, based has no meaning, sigma is astrology for men, and for two I just think standalone VR is a dead-end technology that can never out-perform PCVR. My hatred of Facebook is only half of the equation.
@@StormTheSquid And yet, I would argue its the only way we MIGHT get more companies to push out AAA products. Quest 2 sales are literal proof that standalone is the way to go to bring VR into the mainstream and eventually, lead to more AAA games. I understand your disdain for Meta/Facebook; thats why the Pico line exists. Not everyone wants to drop $2000 dollars for a decent PCVR experience. I dont see why you're so against something that could literally be the sole reason why VR is still a talking point right now. I mean, legit vr has been in the public gaming space since like 2016(with Steam's The Lab VR among other "games" if you can even call them that) and only sort of became mainstream around 2019/2020 ish when the Oculus Quest 1 got introduced next to Half Life Alyx and the Valve Index. Since then, we've seen companies drop more high-end PCVR headsets and guess what? Most of them are never really talked about because the average consumer doesn't want to drop $1000 dollars on a headset.
@@StormTheSquidI mean the best small computer will never beat the best big computer, but eventually small computers will be able to do what our big computers can do now
Can't be overstated just how bad the combat feels though. And it's not about it being physics based or not, it's just that the feedback when fighting is awful. Look at Asguard's Wrath 2, it's also arcadey with it's fighting mechanics - but it always feels like you're in control. It feels like your hits connect and it's your own fault when you fail. None of that is true for Nexus. It feels like a Wii game, and you're just wagglin' hoping something happens. The rest of the game is overall good, but seriously... If they care at all about the game, they should just completely overhaul the combat before releasing any dlc.
The way I look at games like this is that even if it isn’t perfect, it’s trying something different. As long as the game is fun and try’s to be innovative, a few bugs isn’t a deal breaker
I have just one major gripe - when the weapon controls are completely virtual, they HAVE to be perfect or very forgiving. There were way too many moments spoilt by the sword or knife not unsheating properly.

just being in accient greece and being able to sit down and... just relax... is amazing
I just wish one day vr becomes afordable where i live, even the quest 2 is too expensive ahaha.
Keep the good work
and again a great video, thanks for your content, you really do a very good job of being entertaining
thank you for commenting :))
When i figured out you can flip your hood down it got more fun immediately 😂
Being honest without sugar coating i enjoyed the combat and im a person who plays blade and sorcery religiously
I definitely see how it can be fun, especially if you also really like VR combat games like Until You Fall
@@VirtualBroVR yeah I like that game too so it makes some sense
I've been enjoying every single video
keep it up man
VR gamers referring to console games as “flatscreen” games is hilarious to me for some reason
As much as people dont like Ubisoft .... i mean come on this is like a dream
5:24 This scene you recorded feels just like it would be from a movie LOL
Walking into Monteriggioni in VR was such a nostalgic moment, loved it...
Really like the game, sure it has its problems but overall a really great experience
I completely agree! And I had the same incredibly nostalgic feeling seeing that location in VR. To me, this game proves that it can be done, now they just need to iterate and improve with a sequel.
Thanks bro, been here since your first videos:)
i know nothing about that flying thingy but i was like noooooooooooooooo when you said you couldnt fly it. someting straight out of a movie
man i always wanted to see AC in first person, this is amazing
i dont usually comment on videos (sadly). But i wanted to take the time and say how much i
appreciate your honesty and attention to details while making this video. I just got my meta quest 2 and im a fan of the AC series. i was very sceptical of this game bc of the reviews. but this video got me thinking about buying the game while knowing the potential flaws it might have.
subscribed :D
I've been blown away by VR experiences before on the Quest, but AC Nexus hits a new high.
I remember seeing your first video and thinking it was one of many videos from a huge channel and then realizing that it was a channels first video! I was so impressed!
I appreciate that! And thank you for commenting :)
Did you just reply in like 10 minutes! Wow! Also, Thanks to you I have Broken Edge, Breachers, Dungeons of Eternity, and Out of the Shadows and they are my 4 favorite games!
You just convinced me to play it
Congratz on the review
Assassins creed had dual takedowns killing the enemy seperately i think the point of them not allowing you too stab two at once would be for you to break one kill the other and comeback to the second. for example there was a takedown where you would run do a flying jab with your hiddenblade on one whilst kicking the others knee midair, land and then you would pull the blade out of the first one and slice the second ones neck. Ubisoft got rid of dual hiddenblades in newer games but the vr game still has them so im not too sure why they would give us the two hiddenblades like the old games yet handicap is like the newer ones. Connor and edwards dual jump assassination should still work. just stab one jump over his body and get to the other.
i think think the climbing issue is resolved with update 1.0.1
The combat made this basically unplayable for me, I really wanted to like this game mostly cause ezio is in it but I played maybe twice and haven’t touched it since the parkour is amazing but the rest is lacking like a lot…… now if blade and sorcery got this parkour system… now your talking
I forgot this game existed, never did any research on it so seeing this video got me curious. I now need to play it
Only $999 for one of those vr platforms seems like a really great price I thought it would be insanely expensive
Right?? And currently only $899!
I do recommend this game I really think you'll get your money's worth!!
youre videos are so well made, i subbed after watching only two. Keep it up
Assassin's Creed Valhalla you can use your hidden blade if your left hand is empty, hold Lb or L1 to use the blade to jab.
The smallest thing that I love about nexus is if you push your hands over your head you flip up your hood
4:08 "The girl from Deadpool"
Firefly: "Am I a joke to you?"
When you’re doing a assassination with your throwing knife, it’s better to like spin it if you like move your hand and then click the button like the button that usually is the trigger then it will like spin and then it’s better to assassinate which you can basically do that with any weapon you can like spin the axe the sword I think maybe
I agree on wanting naval combat in vr, it would be so cool!
I still haven't gotten to play any game in VR (due to financial limitations) but this looks seriously awesome!
Here's a big tip, be an actual assassin so you don't have to worry about Gameplay fighting. The game becomes much more immersive that way. To everyone complaining about the fighting, you're supposed to be an assassin So get over it.
I just got this for my quest 2 and I'm really impressed with it. It's funny how it's more assassin's creed than the RPG games.
Thank you for saying that because that’s EXACTLY what I thought! It feels like a throwback to the style of AC games that actually got me into the series!
Well done making this game 🧡💚.
Feels like what the first game should be.
just got my Quest 3, buying the game right now. I'm a huge Assassin's creed fan.
W video you sold me on getting the game. i was thinking about getting it now i know i wanna get it
oh so that's why i couldn't finish the toturial and climb the wall.. I needed to recalibrate!!
i bought the game 2 weeks ago, still haven't played it past that frustrating toturial part, whenever I jump in, take 5 minutes trying to grab the edge but can't, so I close the game and switch to something else smh
If you wanna fly in vr
Megaton rainfall is great
My only complaint is that its a quest exclusive and i refuse to buy oculus hardware.
"Ohhh so based and Sigma and corporate hating"
- nobody never
@@Iron_Soil Well, for one, based has no meaning, sigma is astrology for men, and for two I just think standalone VR is a dead-end technology that can never out-perform PCVR.
@@StormTheSquidI mean the best small computer will never beat the best big computer, but eventually small computers will be able to do what our big computers can do now
There is still a possibility that it will get a Psvr2 release.
If they care at all about the game, they should just completely overhaul the combat before releasing any dlc.
been waiting for this game since announcement. after watching this review i want to buy this RIGHT NOW
It’s amazing. I mean. Just so fluid.
Wait a damn second. Your broken edge video was your first? I had no idea when I watched it back then. Insane
The day I started to play this made me feel like a badass
The way I look at games like this is that even if it isn’t perfect, it’s trying something different. As long as the game is fun and try’s to be innovative, a few bugs isn’t a deal breaker
REAL
I have just one major gripe - when the weapon controls are completely virtual, they HAVE to be perfect or very forgiving. There were way too many moments spoilt by the sword or knife not unsheating properly.
Wow i was sceptical too, but this is defenetly on my vr games list
Bruh. I played through half this game already, and not once did an air takedown. THAT'S SO BADASS!
Batman Arkham shadow is going to blow this game away and I’m so excited
Edvard, arno, and jacob would be awesome trio in next vr title
