The hollow in the heel is simply a material saver. Having worked in plastics for years, I see it a lot. Typically material cost for rubber and/or plastic is about 35% of sales price, so anything to reduce amount of material used is critical for profitability.
When I was in the military, my lieutenant shared a word of wisdom: "out of all your clothes buy the best shoes that you can afford". Although I was young and didn't realize why it was so important, I respected my commander and I listened to his opinion.
I've built up a very nice wardrobe over time by always searching for deals. End of season clearance, holidays, etc. I don't have any very expensive clothes, but I have clothes and shows of respectable quality that I've gotten for much cheaper prices. Best deal I ever got was a $150 pair of Chukka boots on Black Friday for $12.50. Still some of my favorite boots to this day because they look great and they're incredibly comfortable.
Having owned both cemented rubber soled dress shoes and leather soled dress shoes, I can strongly state my preference for leather soles due to the added stiffness and durability. But those dense soles didn't look too shabby, nice find.
Great video I get my shoes for around the $150 to $200 mark and they've lasted me nearly five years now I think its safe to say for anything under $100 you just can't get much in the way of quality but there are shoes out there for around the $200 mark, even a little cheaper

@@RealMenRealStyle Absolutely I agree with you. I think since I still plan for a minimal wardrobe it will be 3 jackets to start off. The sad part is how so many men go for the cheapest shoe option, and don't invest in dress shoes as the foundational pieces they are. You can get away with a cheap suit, but EVERYONE looks at your feet: shoes that are glued vs. stitched make the biggest difference. If you invest in $150-$300 shoes just once, they will live beyond you with regular maintenance and resoles. But a cheap suit/slacks + cheap dress shoes mentality = I really don't care about how I look.
@@RealMenRealStyle it's a Cerruti CRA180 chronograph with the metal strap. not much of a name, but it's so simple, yet the class is perfectly there. can you find it at local store , no , so no mater how good it is ,if you can not try it don t buy it , the only thing you can buy on line is belt ,tie , soks ,
Looks like the pair you tried on to review is the dark brown, which starting at 2:17 already has some ugly creasing across the vamp and into the cap toe after what I assume is very minimal wear, given that you mention it was just a week ago that Scarpazzo reached out to you. Even for $100 I would not expect genuine leather (not even corrected grain) to show that manner of creasing, that looks like the creasing I see on PU leather or similar imitation leather after only a few hours of wear. I don't doubt it is real leather as described, but the leather quality is just not apparent, if that's how they look after only hours of wearing I imagine after a couple months of rotation they're going to look hideous. Hopefully I'm wrong. The rest of the shoe construction does look durable though, but personally I think that's irrelevant if the leather appearance deteriorates long before the rest of the shoe and they end up unpresentable even for casual wear. I say that from personal experience having thrown out shoes before with 80% life left in the heel and soles, but the uppers looking so unsightly that I can't stand wearing them for anything other than taking out the trash and checking the mail (and yes that's even after consistently using shoe trees).
Hmmm? Very interesting. This might be a nice quality low-budget shoe to suggest on my own Channel. I';ll have to check it our before i recommend it. Btw, I've mentioned several times in my videos.
I don't see the point. I bought sub 100 dollar shoes for years but a few years ago realized that the quality / price sweet spot is a lot closer to 200. A few years back you were recommending one of the brands I settled on, Acemark's. They are solid shoes, made with high quality leather upper and leather sole using a Blake stitch. I would destroy the cheaper shoes within a year or two...but a good quality shoe can last for decades. I bought 14 pair in different styles , needless to say I'll probably be dead before I wear them all but I don't ever have to worry about buying a new pair of dress shoes!
Maaan I really want to get a pair of ace marks but they are a little pricey. Funny I say that even though I’m thinking about saving up for a Monta. Maybe after that a pair of ace marks will be a smaller blow hahah.
@@RealMenRealStyle Not sure I’ll get a pair to be honest with ya. I already own a pair of oxblood derbies and don’t need something as formal as an Oxford yet. Would love if they had some double monks though
But Antonio there are many brands in India that are under 7k (100 $) ,that are stiched ,made of leather, tpr sole(not leather sole), that Last years. So why we should pay 14k ,23k(200$,300$)?
Yes there's a price difference he's talking about US prices, you're taking 100$ literally. Think of it in Indian terms as buying a good shoe below 2-3000 Rs. Main thing is pay attention to the quality markers.

The second thing I Invested in were quality leather shoes. First one was a watch
Good one Jay! What watch did you get?
@@RealMenRealStyle it's a Cerruti CRA180 chronograph with the metal strap. not much of a name, but it's so simple, yet the class is perfectly there. I also rock my old Diesel chronograph (leather strap), which was a gift to me back in highschool. Now, Im a few years to my MD. maybe i could afford to invest in a better one by then Haha
can you find it at local store , no , so no mater how good it is ,if you can not try it don t buy it , the only thing you can buy on line is belt ,tie , soks ,
🤔 “ ...under USD$100.- really?!”
*One pair of my imported cedar shoetrees cost half that.
You got that right!
Thanks to Burlington and Nordstrom Rack, I can definitely find quality leather dress shoes for less than $100! :)
Really?
@@TheEnigmaticBM39 Oh yeah
Bruh my oxford is still rocking and wanna know how much it cost
Less than 20 dollars 🙂
You can buy them in Bangladesh only 15-20 dollars and best of them in 40 dollars.
Scarpazzo is sold out currently
Best feeling is having a fresh pair of leathers!
It sure is. 😍
The spongebob reference 🤣!
Hmmm? Very interesting. This might be a nice quality low-budget shoe to suggest on my own Channel. I';ll have to check it our before i recommend it. Btw, I've mentioned several times in my videos.
I had to unsubscribe from some of the other "style" youtubers
They are just here for misleading and hyping up teens
Never thought to cut a shoe open to find the quality, antonio you be thinking outside the box
I guess you never checked out rose anvil channel
or any other shoe channel
I don't see the point. I bought sub 100 dollar shoes for years but a few years ago realized that the quality / price sweet spot is a lot closer to 200.
A few years back you were recommending one of the brands I settled on, Acemark's. They are solid shoes, made with high quality leather upper and leather sole using a Blake stitch.
I would destroy the cheaper shoes within a year or two...but a good quality shoe can last for decades.
I bought 14 pair in different styles , needless to say I'll probably be dead before I wear them all but I don't ever have to worry about buying a new pair of dress shoes!
Look like great shoes, but they stop at size 12, I wear 13 or 14. But great video as always.
Yeah, just saw that myself. No one's looking out for us large footed folks.
Maaan I really want to get a pair of ace marks but they are a little pricey. Funny I say that even though I’m thinking about saving up for a Monta. Maybe after that a pair of ace marks will be a smaller blow hahah.
Hey Dustin - Let me know what you think of Scarpazzo :)
@@RealMenRealStyle Not sure I’ll get a pair to be honest with ya. I already own a pair of oxblood derbies and don’t need something as formal as an Oxford yet. Would love if they had some double monks though
Just ordered a pair of these...thanks for the 10% off. I'll let ya know what I think once they arrive. Good looking out!
There are many talented Indonesian shoemaker that can build awesome goodyear welt shoes for around $100+ using horween leather
The shoes have never come back for sale after they sold out
I still love my $125 Florsheims....
They no longer have them? The shoes.
Wow, infomercial for one brand of shoes. Not what I expected.
