Never be afraid of opening up to anyone because luckily 90% of strangers will probably find the time for you because they're going through things too. We're all in this together even if all our problems are our own, but opening up is healthy for everyone involved.
@@kake_dnb1422 I'm not sure what "supported living" is but if the people who are supposed to be supporting you aren't able to do so, you need to seek out support from other sources. I promise there are people who want to listen and want to help with whatever you're struggling with. It's not always the easiest thing to find the right people to talk to (I know I had a bad experience with a therapist in college - she was used to kids who were homesick or nervous about making friends and I showed up with PTSD and a boatload of trauma which she was totally unexperienced with...) but there are people out there who are more than willing to provide the help you need. I wish I could give more specific suggestions but unfortunately that's difficult without knowing more about where you are or what you need... PLEASE don't give up because the people you tried to talk to weren't able to help. Seriously. I know how hard it is to seek help, but you deserve to get that support.

Hope your all good Matt. Lockdown wasn't good for anyone. I heard the girl I really liked got married off to some guy in her family. That really got to me in lockdown as I was stuck in my room most of the time due to university classes getting cancelled. In the hospital I work in now there was a increase in mental health patients. Best thing to do is work on yourself and improve your self worth
I was recently diagnosed with PTSD so this really did resonate with me, hes an incredibly brave man. The hardest thing with mental health conditions it getting that first conversation out of you and letting people know that you are in fact not okay but once you do things honestly start to get better slowly but surely. Its okay to not be okay.

Yes it's so hard locking the entire country in their house at the threat of prison. So hard doing the work of the 1 percent. Was very hard for the SS as well, people just did not treat them well enough.
Mad respect and gratitude for him to share that experience. It’s really important that more people realise what police officers, paramedics and other emergency services witness and deal with. More support is needed, PTSD is heartbreakingly common with these guys and more needs to be done. But in the meantime as these people’s loved ones, friends and neighbours - we need to keep checking in with these people, offer to listen, remind them of their worth, respect their boundaries and be patient, support them and create safe non judgemental place. ♥️

Ever since I watched Ben telling this story on his channel, I have gained an immense amount of respect for the police now. Since then, I've approached Police when I seen them outside a shop and had a chat with them just to ask them how they're doing, personally & mentally. They've seen shit that no one should ever really have to see, and I just wanted to let them know I appreciate the things they put themselve through for the sake of others.. I could see how much they also appreciated being asked about how they are doing.

I have a 2 year old and you had me in tears with that story, so to of been in your shoes and see that I can't imagine the mental torture. More brave to talk about the effects its left on you and I hope this helps more people see they can be helped.

The true problem is when people claim to have these to grab attention, this overshadows the people who truly have these disorders and people can not tell if they are bing real or not.
jay b absolutely 100 fucking percent. But I think alot of the reason people do this is because they feel alone and want to feel cared for, where the only way they think people will take them seriously is to pretend. Obviously there are the serious repercussions of cheapening such serious issues, but I think the need for attention is itself something which needs validation and is worth trying to help
@@jayb848 honestly as someone who’s suffered from depression & anxiety for 10 years, I’ve never seen anybody “claim to have these”. I’ve seen real people with real emotions who all deal with their problem in different ways.
I'm in tears listening to this i lost my uncle last year to cancer my great garandads dog died(put down) to cancer my great grandad to covid 19 newmonina as well 93or 94 years old . starting my GCSE in my year (10) getting help for my struggles and i dont hide it it makes feel better. Talking to people at my school

My mother was very similar she survived but is disabled now this really hit me I was only 17 at the time I’m 22 and I still suffer with ptsd from it 😔 . Thanks for highlighting such a emotional story.
Mental health is a killer and I've been at that point where my head was so full I couldn't see a way of getting through to the next day and that was when I knew I had to get help.... A year of therapy and I feel like a weight has been lifted!.... I'm now at the same point as Ben in that I'll openly talk to anybody about my past and how I felt and I tell people that no matter how hard life can be the most powerful thing you can do is talk!
Ben, this is the side of Policing that most people don’t realise. Hearing that story and thinking back how my son was at 2 and imagining the horror of what you saw, man I'm fairly stoic but damn that broke me, got me fighting them back and that weight in my throat trying to escape.

Thanks for Ben, for different things, I have complex PTSD due to childhood and domestic abuse, I was also abducted by a peado at around 5 years old, I have back flashes and I think I'll always try and remember the policewoman that tried to help and question me, unfortunately I was to young to be of any help as such, I found out as I got older that he had abused his family members. Raising awareness is something we should do more. Thanks for speaking out Ben. The mh system here for me has been terrible and has added to my mh problems, so now I'm sat here with severe anxiety, agoraphobia, depression, probably cptsd, social phobia, generalised anxiety and OCD, I need to be rediagnosed but my GPs are a bit pants tbh. I also have fibromyalgia. I'm truly grateful to those that speak out about their own experiences.

I listened to this while I was running and had to stop and compose myself. As the father of a 3 year old it hit me hard, it could have easily been my son he was called to. The police don't get the respect they deserve and people don't realise what they have to do/see every day. Ben, you have my utmost respect.

We all have moments of trauma but for a police officer they have to commit to trauma on the daily. These people are the bedrock of our values and sustain the security, safety and reassurance and trust of the public. A true eye opener! Keep up the goods!
That's how i lost my mum too (she had stomach ulcers and they raptured) and she ended up on life support within a week or so, very fast to get to that stage tbh. Me and my family were absolutely crushed by the news. Hardly even got to say a proper goodbye 😢 as quick as that nd we still recon it was due to the operation she had on her heart a month before her sudden collapse and death 💔 I'll never get over it either unfortunately.
I think this man is such an important figure for people to look at and pay attention to, never before I found his channel did I ever even think about what police have to go through and to have the “reputation” they have among some young people, I believe it is so important to educate the younger generation on what they go through because they deserve the upmost respect from everyone.
I've said it before on your own chanel Ben. I truly believe that you will be the officer that breaks down the barriers between police and society. You share stories in such a way that you are able to connect with the audience and they are gripped by what you say. I genuinely hope success in your new pathway. I can relate to everything you say and I do my best to offer support to my colleagues having developed anxiety myself in the same role you were in. I wouldn't wish it on my enemies and can pick up on others suffering it even before they do.
I remember my granddad was very similar before he died. He was in a rough way for a week or so, and barely responsive. Then he started to come around and show signs of improvement. Next day he passed away
Wow this was an incredible watch Ben well done mate I have been suffering with depression for the last 4 years and attempted suicide twice, started drinking everyday, doing coke and I was a mess, and I hit rock bottom at the start of this year where I got sent to prison and I came out thinking I need to change my life, moved out of my parents place got a flat with my cousin and luckily I’m feeling so good now, Ben is right men need to turn around and just say I need help and that is the strongest, bravest thing anyone can do Hope your doing much better now you are righting these books and talking about it mate Much love

That's why I love working in a graveyard. I get to see people put their loved ones to rest and believe it or not graveyards are such a peaceful place. I recommend visiting one, even if your not visiting family. See the names of the people who came before you, imagine their accomplishments, their lovers and haters. Eventually, you'll feel the peace that the dead have and it's a beautiful feeling.

The true problem is when people claim to have these to grab attention, this overshadows the people who truly have these disorders and people can not tell if they are bing real or not.

jay b absolutely 100 fucking percent. But I think alot of the reason people do this is because they feel alone and want to feel cared for, where the only way they think people will take them seriously is to pretend. Obviously there are the serious repercussions of cheapening such serious issues, but I think the need for attention is itself something which needs validation and is worth trying to help
@@jayb848 honestly as someone who’s suffered from depression & anxiety for 10 years, I’ve never seen anybody “claim to have these”. I’ve seen real people with real emotions who all deal with their problem in different ways.

I'm in tears listening to this i lost my uncle last year to cancer my great garandads dog died(put down) to cancer my great grandad to covid 19 newmonina as well 93or 94 years old . starting my GCSE in my year (10) getting help for my struggles and i dont hide it it makes feel better. Talking to people at my school

My mother was very similar she survived but is disabled now this really hit me I was only 17 at the time I’m 22 and I still suffer with ptsd from it 😔 .

Mental health is a killer and I've been at that point where my head was so full I couldn't see a way of getting through to the next day and that was when I knew I had to get help.... A year of therapy and I feel like a weight has been lifted!.... I'm now at the same point as Ben in that I'll openly talk to anybody about my past and how I felt and I tell people that no matter how hard life can be the most powerful thing you can do is talk!

Ben, this is the side of Policing that most people don’t realise. Thank you for telling us, PTSD is dreadful and while people use it as a throw away comment, the reality is those who suffer from it, it is debilitating. We on,y ever hear of disgraced police officers & not the true hardworking rank and file like yourself. You are now saving life’s and helping in other ways! Hearing that story and thinking back how my son was at 2 and imagining the horror of what you saw, man I'm fairly stoic but damn that broke me, got me fighting them back and that weight in my throat trying to escape.
I wish I could sit at a table and chat to Ben,I suffer from ptsd and severe depression too,there's so much ide like to talk about,and I can so relate to the backpack onalogy,you are an inspiration Ben and a true credit to the world

Thanks for Ben, for different things, I have complex PTSD due to childhood and domestic abuse, I was also abducted by a peado at around 5 years old, I have back flashes and I think I'll always try and remember the policewoman that tried to help and question me, unfortunately I was to young to be of any help as such, I found out as I got older that he had abused his family members. Raising awareness is something we should do more. Thanks for speaking out Ben. The mh system here for me has been terrible and has added to my mh problems, so now I'm sat here with severe anxiety, agoraphobia, depression, probably cptsd, social phobia, generalised anxiety and OCD, I need to be rediagnosed but my GPs are a bit pants tbh. I also have fibromyalgia. I'm truly grateful to those that speak out about their own experiences.
I never comment on RUclips but this is exceptional, what a truly moving story, I'm in tears. My heart goes out to you Ben, I hope you manage to deal with the burden you live with ❤

I fell three times in three days and every time someone came and stopped it happening, my back pack was overwhelming 🙃. I survived and now have a little girl , be strong and talk 💪

I listened to this while I was running and had to stop and compose myself. As the father of a 3 year old it hit me hard, it could have easily been my son he was called to. The police don't get the respect they deserve and people don't realise what they have to do/see every day. Ben, you have my utmost respect.

This is a diamond of a conversation. Amazing podcast, significant topics that we all forget, hearing this really makes you appreciate our public services. We all have moments of trauma but for a police officer they have to commit to trauma on the daily. These people are the bedrock of our values and sustain the security, safety and reassurance and trust of the public. A true eye opener! Keep up the goods!
That's how i lost my mum too (she had stomach ulcers and they raptured) and she ended up on life support within a week or so, very fast to get to that stage tbh. Me and my family were absolutely crushed by the news. Hardly even got to say a proper goodbye 😢 as quick as that nd we still recon it was due to the operation she had on her heart a month before her sudden collapse and death 💔 I'll never get over it either unfortunately.

I think this man is such an important figure for people to look at and pay attention to, never before I found his channel did I ever even think about what police have to go through and to have the “reputation” they have among some young people, I believe it is so important to educate the younger generation on what they go through because they deserve the upmost respect from everyone.
I've said it before on your own chanel Ben. I truly believe that you will be the officer that breaks down the barriers between police and society. You share stories in such a way that you are able to connect with the audience and they are gripped by what you say. I genuinely hope success in your new pathway. I can relate to everything you say and I do my best to offer support to my colleagues having developed anxiety myself in the same role you were in. I wouldn't wish it on my enemies and can pick up on others suffering it even before they do.
I remember my granddad was very similar before he died. He was in a rough way for a week or so, and barely responsive. Then he started to come around and show signs of improvement. Next day he passed away

I have been suffering with depression for the last 4 years and attempted suicide twice, started drinking everyday, doing coke and I was a mess, and I hit rock bottom at the start of this year where I got sent to prison and I came out thinking I need to change my life, moved out of my parents place got a flat with my cousin and luckily I’m feeling so good now, Ben is right men need to turn around and just say I need help and that is the strongest, bravest thing anyone can do

That's why I love working in a graveyard. I get to see people put their loved ones to rest and believe it or not graveyards are such a peaceful place. I recommend visiting one, even if your not visiting family. See the names of the people who came before you, imagine their accomplishments, their lovers and haters. Eventually, you'll feel the peace that the dead have and it's a beautiful feeling.
