Torque on the drain bolts to crush the crush washers is 20nm. Which seems low. 10w40 4.5quarts needed for oil and filter change per Kawasaki manual although 5qts puts the dipstick level in the middle if you do the 5 Minutes idle 5 minutes off recommendation. Oil level is checked with the bike upright - it’s a semi dry sump lump
18nm for the filter putting it on by hand isn’t enough according to Kawasaki.
5.3quarts would be over filled

The secondary drain plug in the back.....why did you take it out? Not one drop of oil came out.

1) i assume you fill in the same place you check the oil?
2) when you say you "fill" the filter with oil, how much really?

So the engine oil works as the gear oil too? Why two drain plugs?

My 2006 Yamaha Stratoliner has three drain plugs.

I thought the oil level needed to be in the middle of the stick....not at the top of the limit line.

Current own vtx1300, kind of give me trouble, a lot of issue. A guy has a 2013 Kawasaki Vulcan VN1700 for sale not far from me with a good deal about 5K, that's why I'm watching this video. How long did you own this bike? Reliable? BTW it's great video thanks you

This wasn’t a personal bike for us but Kawasaki Vulcans are known to be reliable with a low revving torquey engine combined with a low maintenance shaft drive system

I just bought the VN1700 Voyager and have put 3k on it. For what I have seen the engine is sound, and the stock seats are pretty comfortable. Has a vibration issue that can be fixed with some foam, center piece and key bezel. Hopefully you bought it and enjoying it as much as I do😊. Dayton OH.
