How to Change Oil on a Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R
The manual says 3.6 if changing the filter. And 4 if completely dry. My bike took 3.5 after oil drain and new filter. Lol I guess that extra 400ml are hard to get out
Good job, might want to do one on cleaning that positive battery post next.
thank you... Where do you get the oil plug, and what type? Also, what oil filter socket are you using?
How many litres normally you put in the engine
What about the final drive?
What size for washer?
Double check the manual for your year bike, but 12 x 22 x 2mm should be the correct crush washer.
THANKS. Did my son's bike
thanks man
The manual says to add .74 quarts. If you add .74, why would you worry about the check bolt?
Would this work for a 2019
Yes! Same instructions for 2012 -2021 Ninja 650R
12 mm right side for the drain .7 qts or 662.447ml or 22.4 oz (us) You're welcome
I thought the oil level needed to be in the middle of the stick....not at the top of the limit line.
The secondary drain plug in the back.....why did you take it out? Not one drop of oil came out.
amervoyassoc.org/Documents/manuals/2009-10_voyager1700_service_manual.pdf
So you can use ANY SIZE of hex wrench, Right? You're so good at teaching. Disliked.
Thank you. Very well explained and shown! The best I have seen.
very helpful
So I’ve done the 600 mile oil change and I’m about 5600 miles in. It’s recommended 8000 miles before oil changes but my oil level is at the bottom line. Should this be normal or is it burning through oil?
That does seem odd, and it sounds like you are burning oil. If you do an oil change, which it sounds like is in order, try to get a read on how many quarts drain out to see how much you may have burned through.
@@poweroilcenter Could it be from running it hard? I’ve been commuting at around 60-70 mph 100 miles a day. I’m a big guy but very surprised how low it was
About 18 ounces of oil was missing. It’s also been 99-106 degrees the last couple weeks. Run it pretty hard.
@@Trumpwonhahahahaha High temperatures can contribute to engine oil burning off faster. When an engine operates at higher temperatures, the oil can thin out, which reduces its ability to lubricate effectively. This thinning can increase oil consumption as the oil can pass more easily through seals and gaskets, leading to greater evaporation and burning. Additionally, high temperatures can cause the oil to break down chemically, reducing its viscosity and protective properties, further accelerating consumption and wear.
I don't care what Honda says. 8k is too long. Change it. It's cheap and easy. Plus a perfect video right above.
I don’t believe you are correct about screwing in the stick to check it . The X to me means to filled . You want to be right below the X .
The manual states to screw dipstick in and that top line is "High Level" and bottom line is "Low Level".
thanks dude
Thank you
Thanks from a fellow Eagle laker :)
What size is the oil filter socket?
17mm he says it in the video by the way.
any idea where to find a replacement fairing? my back fairing was cracked and id like to replace it asap
Partzilla
Excellent Video
And jack up front of golf cart to drain all old oil out
Bro needs more then 394 likes cmon
Hello, I live in Turkey. Everyone here recommends me to use semi-synthetic oil. I am in favor of using full synthetic. Will I encounter any problems? I am a crf250l user. The oil I want to use is Motul 7100 10w30. I would appreciate it if you could give me information, thank you.
Mileage plays a part in this opinion, but if you've got high miles and have been running semi-synthetic, stick with it. It helps bind to older seals and gaskets. If you have low miles, full synthetic will ultimately lubricate your engine better in the long run. You can also go longer in between oil changes since the oil additive package tends to break down slower.
Where do you get those crush washers from? In canada
Website needs updated. You can not select a Vaquero.
Where do you put the oil in?
Black plug on top of motor
You cut to filling it without explaining that is on the other side of the bike so I was really confused for a minute until I realized the bike was flipped in that frame and walked around my bike and saw it. 🤦♀️🤣
Thank you kindly ! So useful
Very helpful have the same exact bike thanks for the demonstration
Can you tell me about the Seat Concepts Commuter seat? Did you order it straight up or are there custom mods to it such as additional height or what not? It looks higher in the vid and I’m tall but looking at this specific seat. Thank you.
The DR650 is a pretty tall bike to begin in addition to being top-heavy. Of course, it comes down to rider comfort but I wouldn’t recommend the tall seat unless you’re flat footed sitting on the bike with your knees bent or you feel cramped when in the riding position.
Good clear instructions! By the way, I would have bought another new ZZR1400 Performance Sport in 2021 but thanks to the gnomes at the EU the last model we have was 2019... UK isn't even in the fucking EU!!
my bolt is stuck nad starting to look round, Why do I never use torque wrench 😭
Bro! 2.5 quarts is not correct. Even look at the manual. I put in 2 quarts maybe another ounce or two at the most with a filter change.
My 2020 owners manual calls for 2.5 quarts with a filter change, it does bring it to the full line. my buddies 2014 calls for 2.2
@@Nightowl-OOI put 3 quarts in my DR 650 just to be on the safe side. It smokes 4 little bit but the Suzuki Dealership says thats normal 😄
Great vid! Do you happen to know what size crush washer I need? It seems to be M12 1.5 from what I've seen, but it's hard to source an accurate size on Amazon.
Here's the kit we sell, which includes the correct size washer! poweroilcenter.com/products/craftsman-2-5-quart-full-synthetic-oil-change-kit-fits-kawasaki-z400-er400
😂 i just flipped it around and retightened. Hasnt caused me any problems. Probably only works once tho.
You should remove the dip stick before draining the oil so you get better oil flow
Does changing oil on the ramp leaves significant amount old oil in these Subarus?
It shouldn't, no.
You check with the bike level correct?
Correct!
You're the only and i mean the only youtuber that made a video on this for this bike thank you
You should be using a torque wrench.
Why are you guys out of stuck? I can’t find a oil change kit for my 2023 klx 140rf anywhere
We should be in stock again soon! Supply chain issues, our apologies.
This car with 2.0D engine wants just a quarter of an inch above the empty to avoid DPF issues
Great watch, but why no dipstick ???? First bike I ever had without one.
It has a viewing window. Pretty common
@@TheDogDad Not a fan of the little windows. You can check a dipstick in the dark along a trail.
@@jetsons101 The same thing can be done with a window.
@@ssiddall222 With a dipstick the oil level can be checked and wiped with a paper towel and check with a eye loop for "little bits of stuff" that shouldn't be in the oil --- can't be son with a little window.
Thank you for the instructions! It was a piece of cake after watching the video.
that oil looks new.
Maybe he’s getting paid to make videos ?
2 stupid questions: 1) i assume you fill in the same place you check the oil? 2) when you say you "fill" the filter with oil, how much really?
To answer your questions: 1) Yes, same place 2) Always read the owners manual, but if you order a kit from us, we'll send you the exact amount you need for your bike.
