Terrific interview! You gals are right across this🙏so much good info and I love how she said so casually “ I’ll charge when the suns out” !free energy❤️❤️
Love the video and as an ev owner I will never go to ICE the stink of diesel and gasoline is disgustingly bad and the fumes from exhaust pipe is just antiquated in 202x
I totally agree. I currently drive a diesel and can't wait to get an EV. I carry garden machinery in the back of my car for work and switched to battery electric 18 months ago as I couldn't stand the fumes any more. No way I'm ever going back.
I had a Nissan Leaf for 3 years. It was an excellent car. It has been overlooked by many people (probably because it is now expensive compared to the comparable Chinese cars now available). I did end up replacing the Leaf with a Genesis EV (which is also an excellent car).
As for fast charging problem, you can do: - lower the fast charging to let's say 20-25kW (sometimes does it automatically for you) - drive 100kmh maximum I'm doing this thanks to Dala's canbridge that can be installed on Leafs. Tho, I have the 2014 ZE0 version. Sad thing is that most chargers, at least here in EU aren't under any sun cover. So they are under direct sun, and also your car. Which sucks a lot.
Alright I got to drive a Leaf as a rental when I was in Denmark back in July this year. Loved driving it. Amazing car. BUT the CHaDeMO connector was a big limitation. It is old technology. In Denmark and Sweden the chargers with CHaDeMO are hard to find as they do not put anymore new chargers up with CHaDeMO. CHaDeMO is also limited to 63KW which makes charging rather slow. CCS is the standard in Europe now. I really had to plan my driving there. While I was there I driving 1200KM and only spend about $50. I can not even fill up the tank in my old Golf these days for $50.
its only because she charges it to 100% at DC fast chargers in 40c degree summer that it RapidGated early for mine it doesn't rapidgate until after 4th DC charge session but I only do it to 80-90% and I'm in VIC
I've never had a problem with overheating battery, or any warnings . Three rapid charges in a row, but within the 30-80% range, The battery showed hotter than normal but soon cooled back with moderate driving across north Wales.
I bought a 60Kwh Leaf recently went from Port Macquarie to Gold Coast with one stop. Then in the same week travelled from the Gold Coast to Coonabarabran and back only charging to 100% overnight. So many 80% stops but no overheating of course was in much cooler conditions. But nearly 2,000 Klms and the only problems not enough charges, Chargers need to be in Shade and working (especially the one at Tyndale) . And you should just pay by your own Card.
Problem is driving speed. If you are on a highway and it's really hot, driving over 100kmh will heat up battery really really fast. Also, when charging on rapid chademo charger, maximum charging speed should be 20-20kW
Wrong, this is a short range Leaf 40 KWH battery pack. Why on earth would one Quick Charge twice in 20 minutes ?? Reference www.youtube.com/@carolinebray82 who just traveled long distance in her short range Leaf charging every 100 miles and it charges slower overheated but drives fine. Mine is the longest range Leaf S Plus 226 miles/364km. I have a set on my other channel doing 1643 mile trip last year to sunny North Carolina. VotecEV. Please make sure you don't spread misinformation, plus I've not seen a Leaf with a spare, has a can of fix a flat and an air pump, unless it's an Aussie requirement. Leaf Plus ranges are S Plus = 226 miles or 363.7km, SV Plus = 215 miles or 346km, SL Plus = 212 miles or 341.2km. On long trips my battery reached halfway between the halfway temperature point and overheat mark 1. It was while descending mountains of Virginia on I-77 south into North Carolina, and onto I-74 gaining 24 miles regeneration up to the Mount Airy, NC exit. Two vacations in my extended range Leaf to North Carolina plus others. VotecEV channel for videos
Please consider supporting me, it really does mean I can keep doing this:

fun interview thank you
Thank you for the Video, never ever going back to ICE.
Love our leaf, all the car you would ever need for the average motorist. Very underrated.
Own a Tesla but love the Leaf. The gen 1s proved you could live with an EV. Helped to pave the way!

Love the enthusiasm. Great interview.

A point rarely mentioned , but very evident in this video, is that normal conversation is possible as you drive.

There are CCS2 to Chademo Adapters available but a bit pricey.
That was brilliant! thank you. I have a tesla and wait until Janice is happy to try it.
I would buy one tomorrow but sadly Nissan chose not to upgrade the battery architecture to liquid thermal management like the other ev brands.
My father has the same model, same colour, was surprised to find it has a full size spare tyre under the back!

Said she charged such twice in 20 minutes?? I do long trips in my S Plus 226 mile range.
