Fun fact:While reading on mobile review for the game in the AppStore I saw that also the dev team who made Plague Inc made this game to also show about the sensitive topic of “Post War Peace and Rebuilding” cause as we all know,we are still living (sorta) in the Long peace period after the Cold War but war happens from time to time,a coup or insurgency appears out of nowhere (some possibly made/funded by governments), war happens, people die in the middle by both sides and even if there’s victory, victory doesn’t come cheaply since now civilian Infrastructure is destroyed, people left homeless, families killed and everyone hates both the first world armies and also the new government. Then comes the difficult choice: either waste a huge amount of resources to attempt to restore peace and the fractured said country back to normal (Which we all know it’s a long, arduous and costly) which if it’s successful the investment on helping that country will make you look kinda like a good person in the media (so much for the media who hate everything nowadays) and hell if you’re a president maybe even get elected again, or you could just say broken promises that will never come true and not waste resources to help the war torn country which yes you’ll save money and and resources but the people of that country will suffer more in their dark spiral of death and misery But in conclusion and also my opinion is that no matter which choice you take(Help or not) the scars of war will never go away for a looooong time, and in the end someone either be it a insurgency, another coup,an assasination or opposition will inevitably restart the fire and ruin everything. Thus the vicious cycle continues...
I personally focus greatly on maxing out national army, and using coalition forces only as support. By the time my first coalition unit returns home I would have atleast two national army units deployed. Eg. at 15:39, I would use 2 coalition and 2 national army units to contain the situation. I focus primarily on Civilian initiatives, and save up a lot for national armies.
Playing the mobile version has taught me quite a lot since seeing this on steam. First of all:insurgents are a pain to deal with because the camps cause them to launch surprise attacks even in fully stable zone behind the main lines, Second:you really should check to see what the majority of zones have for roads because if you improve the correct roads it speeds up your units movement speed, Third: sometimes the charities can really help roll out projects at the cost of corruption and inflation which helps if you not sure what to roll out next. Fourthly: I feel that national soldiers are way too weak so you definitely have to upgrade them which kind of balances them since they stay in action. Lastly: remote zones (like mountains and forest..it looks like a mountain when you click on the zone and see the icon) tend to be really hard to clear out of insurgents and often require multiple soldier squads to remove and tanks can't get to them...also to add on you should talk to the insurgent leaders when it says "no chance to refuse talks" or the percent is low so you can make peace and win faster...otherwise you literally have to stabilize each zone independently which can bite you if your fighting corruption
I never have problems with camps mostly because I try to address any issues or or high risk areas immediately with the corresponding upgrades if a area has a lot of people who hate you medicine and school won't change anything but settling land disputes and improving agriculture will
Hey apollo, quick tip, you might want to focus more on stabilizing the region first rather than unlocking a bunch of military stuff near the start. Unlock things that help spread improvement, all civ basic things, as well as some of the economic stuff. When more region stabilize, you can easily predict where the insurgent gonna retreat to. This is very crucial especially in later map when you got little army and vast region to hold. Insurgent would prefer to run to unstable area, and they can only pop in area that have low security and unstable. So yeah it is very crucial to stabilize most region quick and win the people's heart before going full on war with the insurgent. oh also unlock national guard as fast as you are able to. In later map, insurgence would be a headache and affect your reputation a lot so reputation become scarce and using a bunch of coalition force would soon become unfeasible. another also since i just realized it, stop giving the insurgent escape route. block every single possible escape route before attacking if you are planning on totally destroy that insurgent unit that is.

''I need to trap them in one place to defeat them'' *leaves an opening despite having more troops in useless places and gets surprised by it EVERY SINGLE TIME IT'S POSSIBLE*
The key to victory is to improve public opinion as fast as you can. To buy time to build your military to beat the insurgents, take control of chokepoints and strongholds to check there growth, than push when you can funnel them into a single region

And 'cheesing' the game by unlocking everything unlockable by using one game and reloading it just before peace. ... And accepting their peace talks when there was no chance of them refusing it.
The coalition soldiers are mainly for buying you time to train up national soldiers. After a couple of national soldier upgrades, they’ll actually be stronger than coalition soldiers.
Quick tip! When the coalition wants to pull out troops, wait for the exclamation mark thing to force you to open it therefore extending the time of the soldiers fighting just for a little bit. Hopefully it works for this pc version! :-)
